[Q] Restoring Sony's stock camera after flashing Cyanogenmod - Sony Xperia ZR

A while back I rooted my Xperia ZR, backed up the TA partition, and flashed CM10.
To my regret, the camera performances aren't nearly as good as with the stock Xperia camera app.
So I was wondering if I could somehow restore the camera app, so I can use it alongside Cyanogenmod.
After googling a lot, the only solution I could find was to restore the TA partition.
Is this possible after flashing a different ROM?
Or does anyone know another solution?
Thanks in advance

Flash 4.4 CM and flash this CAMERA ADDON : - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672765

I'm on CM11 now with Android 4.4.4
Tried standard camera first: rubbish
Tried Google Camera next: rubbish
Tried Focal camera: rubbish
Next, I tried to install the ported Xperia Z2 camera: couldn't even open app, just errors
I'm starting to think it's the hardware that sucks.
When taking a picture of a newspaper or a book page (using any camera app on 13MP), you can't even read the letters, too blurry..
Does anyone know what may cause it?
Thanks

go into the settings, app, all, gallery -----> clear cache and delete data
for safety still in recovery mode, wipe cache and dalvik.
then it should go back.

ok......hmmmm....
download this -----> http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
go to recovery mode and wipe cache and dalvik.after that flash that zip.
this could help you. if not it would be better to re-install the rom after you have installed the stock rom + root kernel.
revert it to stock, re-root it, then install whatever ROM, then see, it solved it when i had that problem :fingers-crossed:

I see one or two possible causes of your problem:
1. Kernel more than 391MB usually breaks the 720p video and Gallery, make sure the bigmem patch of kernel is not activated.
2. Flashing directly from GB to JB usually causes post-installation problems, one of which maybe is your problem. Developers recommend a gradual ugrade of Android system to avoid any problems. From GB flash a CM9 ICS first then finally the JB Rom you wanted. In this way, you will surely get a trouble-free Rom.

i reverted my galaxy s gt i9000 to stock, and hoped to get camera working again but no. has still that problem, says camera failed or something like that.
well i seen some posts about copyng camera firmware, i tried that. but next problem was... that this copy failed. idk why, maybe i cant in stock ?
pls someone help me!
I think I have exactly the same problem.
It was caused by flashing Onecosmics ICSSGS RC 4.2 to CM10 Stable. (i have to admid the camera was semi broken at ICSSGS already, crashed somewhere in an hour after booting, had to reboot phone to get it running again, but well it was working...)
Camera has never worked since. (stock sammy gave me a black screen when opening the camera, making a picture just made it freeze. CM10 just gives gallery crashes upon opening. Tried nandroids, cleared cashes, tried stock sammy firmwares. I wanted to do a Samsung Kies repair, but i was unable to find stock firmware for my country...
Flashing the camera firmware might work. It didn't for me, but i have heard it could be the solution.
Can you see if you front camera is working (install instagram and make a front camera pic, will evade the gallery has crashed problem).
yea, my front camera works, i can take pictures and watch them later.
but my back camera doesnt work

my galaxy s gt i9000 front camera is messing right now, i got like 6-7 me on that camera some lines are on the screen in camera :/
Well, if someone knows something what could help then please tell me!
ive tryed another roms, i been using android 2.3.6 and 4.1.1, back on stock, copyng files and messing around with that.
maybe camera is broken? i dont know what to do...
Have the same problem for a long long time.
been flashing a lotta roms kernels etc.. nothing.
I even changed the camera (I had another GT-i9000) and nothing, which makes me believe it's something of the Motherboard
Also, if I press the screen at the top half of it.. it shuts down.
I've had no back camera for a long time either. I've flashed back to eclair, tried about 4 different cam firmwares which all flashed successfully so they said, and lots of ROMs. I gave up. Im sure it must be hardware.
Seen people posting over time about the same thing. Firmwares helped a couple of people, but lots of people ended up with a dead camera. Buying a new camera unit from eBay fixes it. I think they're about £20....

I have exactly the same problem. Tried everything from changing many roms and kernels. Even bricked my phone for two weeks and then resurrected it using Darky's Rom Resurrection. But the camera even crashed in Darky's rom and it is still not working when I'm back to SlimRom 4.2.2 build 6. It was working all file and I cannot believe that it is a hardware issue. Please help.

same problem on my i9000. I will try with another camera from a friend's i9000.... if nothing happens probably will leave my precious

[Q] Freezed Camera

Hello !
So I successfully rooted my wifes Sony Xperia Z1 3 weeks ago, after that Sony has released several firmware updates, and I have never had a problem with this. I have always followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2711982
And it has worked well. The phones bootloader is unlocked and It has runned all versions up to 14.3.A.0.681 without any problems. (I also have the XZDualrecovery mentioned in that thread).
So last time, the new 14.3.A.0.757 upgrade was released, and as always I did everything in the thread as usual. Root and upgrade went smoothly without any problems, or so I thought. Now, if using the normal camera for taking photos, if you touch the "take photo" button the flashlight goes on, but no picture is taken, also the camera can't focus on anything. The whole app freezes, and you need to force close it and try again. The front-face camera works without any problems. This happends every time, so reproducing is really easy. I have tried to wipe the cache-partition, I have tried to clear the data and cache from all camera-related apps too, nothing of this helps.
So, I downgraded to 681 sussessfully with root and everything, all boots fine without problems... But.... The camera app is still broken in the very same way .
I red somewhere that people with OTHER cameraproblems have flashed the ported camera from Z2 to fix problems, but I doubt this could help?
I am a bit desperate, I really want my wifes camera to work again, any tip would be wonderful.
If unrooting and running stock is the only solution, so be it, but If you have any other ideas, I would be so grateful
Thank you again
If you have unlocked your bootloader it is as simple as flashing a stock FTF then DooMLoRDs advanced stock kernel, or DooMKerneL, or [NUT]s kernel with dual recovery in it for the 757 FW
The latest version of any of these three will give you root and recovery and your phone
Also, have you tried clearing the data in ALL the camera apps in
settings/apps
That may just do the trick
Also, don't worry, I have already reported this thread to get it moved to the Q&A section so you do not have to bother, but next time you ask a question please do it in the Q&A thread.

Thank you for good suggestions, I just remembered that I did not try to do a wipe data/factory reset, maybe this will help, also I tried to move my topic to Q&A but didn't know how to do
My wifes phone will be in my hands tomorrow, I hope to do magic then ...

[Q] Broken camera?!

Hey guys, I have a big problem. I've been using custom roms for a while now but decided to go back to stock 4.1.2 (9.1.a.1.140). Now I have a problem with the camera app...it keeps focusing all the time (like it's set on continuous focus mode) and I remember it wan't like that back when I was using stock (before unlocking bootloader and flashing custom roms). Now...I haven't made a backup of drm keys but I heard they're only used for bravia engine and track ID so they shouldn't really cause problems with the camera. It seems like some stuff got remembered from a custom rom.
I also have some reboots now that I didn't have before using custom roms. Is there any way I can resolve this and restore everything back to how it was? Would locking the bootloader help with the camera?
And can someone who hasn't unlocked bootloader and use custom roms try out the camera and tell me if it's normal that it keeps auto focusing even when not holding the shutter button.

[Q] How to go from CM12 to stock Z1 firmware, and other questions

Hi all!
I've mostly used CM11, but it never really felt super polished. Now with CM12 the UI is much better, but since it's fairly beta there are more little irritations. Since I've never really used the stock firmware I thought I'd give that a try instead to have all of the original features work.
Just to be clear; would I simply use FlashTool in Flash Mode to flash the correct .ftf file? Is there a way to keep all my apps and data? (I'll take a backup to be sure in any case.)
Also, is there a way to use Privacy Guard or something equivalent with the stock firmware?
Thanks for the help
Ya according to me i tested most of lollipop roms but they are still in very early beta so i flashed stock ftf then restored ta and i am back to stock and as for privacy guard there are xposed modules and many apps for the same...
Thanks for the reply! Xposed seems very useful so I'll be sure to check it out.
What do you mean with "restored ta"?
TA(Trim Area) partition is where your DRM keys are stored you must always take backup of TA partition before unlocking bootloader or else keys are gone for ever also the are device specific so dont try to restore other phones TA...

I don't have the backup of my phone before unlocking anymore... Will I miss having them? I don't consume DRM'ed media.
Its about turning on Sony's bionz chip which reduces noise from camera other than that i dont think it will effet you in any ways...so just flash your stock ftf and you are good to go...
where is the official cm 12 thread for z1 ? link please

Stock rom audio mods

Hey!
Is it possible to have viper4android on stock rom? I may have messed up backing up the ta partition so I would like to know if I could run rooted audiomods on stock rom. Basically I tried backing up ta partition on android 8 but the camera wouldn't work and then I flashed android 9 and now my camera works but the stock equalizer doesn't... I don't know if there is a way to get the equalizer back or not...
