The screen on my friend's G Flex has randomly gone rainbow-y pixellated looking. You can still see everything, but each pixel (or maybe groups of pixels, not sure) has a slight color offset that makes the whole screen look like a weird rainbow. I don't believe they did anything to it, and I saw it earlier just fine with even color.
It seems to be some sort of software problem, because the LG logo is perfectly clear at boot, then the AT&T logo has the same weird ass pixellation at the bottom half, then when the phone finally boots up it's 100% weird pixels. I don't want to have to have them do a factory reset, but if that's what it takes...
Otherwise, any ideas?
edit: obviously like title says 100% stock, nothing soft or hard modded in any way.

You're going to need to factory reset the phone, and hope that fixes it.
If it is a software thing, like I highly suspect (I've seen many hardware wrecked screens), is there any reason a factory reset wouldn't work?

i just recently bought my xda2s and it worked fine for a week though. now, from time to time my screen would be "untouchable". literally i cannot click anything or open anything even if i soft-reset it for 10x. buttons seem to work fine but the screen does not. it happened twice while my bluetooth was "on" and i thought maybe it was the bluetooth but recently the same thing happened with my bluetooth now turned "off". i have to wait for hours before it would return to normal again. Anybody help please? By the way, my bluetooth version is 1.0.0 build 3500.
I had a similar problem on my Samsung SPH-i700 PocketPC Phone through Verizon Wireless. Even after a hard reset, I couldn't get past the screen calibration, until I found out that a piece of hair and debris found on the outer edge of the screen right under the lip of the cover was interfering with the touch portion of the display. Apparently, the touch sensors extend past the visible area of the screen, so with both a little aircan and vacuum cleaning, the debris was picked up and the touch screen functioned normally again.
Is this a consistent and/or intermittent problem? Did a hard reset resolve anything?
look for the alignment
Do you have Calligragher 7.4 installed? I read about this in Tekguru website that if you re-install 7.3, the problem goes away. That is what I have done and it seems to be working for me so far (2 days test).
i've checked out my screen and i dont see any dirt or something... i even have a screen protector... dont know if that might cause the problem. Same thing happened last night but this time it was just for a short period of time then it went back to normal... I didn't try a hard reset cause i dont want to loose some of my files but if ever it happened again, i might try doing a hard reset and see what happens... right now, im having my xda2s checked if maybe it's a factory defect or something...
regarding the caligrapher program thing, i dont have that...
Hey, i have the exact same problem I bought mine here in Toronto, from an Asian dealer, its the O2 XDA IIs asia-pacific model.
Same problem, screen(touch screen) goes dead like no responses to any touches, for like half hour - 2hour once in a day or something and nothing cures it, hard soft rest nothing. just with time it suddenly starts working and the Handheld is useless until then...well i dont see any cure and this is the only place i have heard about someone else having this issue, i will take it back to the dealer, in hopes of exchanging.
any feedback will be will be appreciated
overclock it for a few days..that fixed mine..dont know how but it did.
There is a tread in blue angel about screen aliment that you might like to read. seems 4k of devices went out with screen problems.
What is overclock it. Fairly new to this. Mine just keeps trying to allign and thats all it does it doesnt go into boot mode just allign screen all the time
I recieved my tilt from Amazon roughly aweek ago. Everything was going fine up until not to long ago. The screen stopped registering any screen taps from the stylus or my finger while everything else worked just fine. I reset the unit a few times hoping to resolve the issue. Nothing. THEN I made the big mistake of hard resetting the unit. Now i get to the calibration screen and no further. Anyone got any ideas? Any idea where I can take this to get looked at? i was contemplating sending it to Amazon as defective but ive already flashed the HTC Rom to it shortly after recieving it. Am I completely screwed? Help!!

you could try reflashing the original ROM
Yeah, I tried that shortly after making my original post. Still nothing. I'm curious if the cable for the digitizer came loose somehow (no idea how though) or if it is an actual hard ware issue.
I thought something was wierd when it was working though. When I used the stylus the taps were very inaccurate recently. More so towards the upper hight hand corner of the screen. Calibrated it a few times hoping to correct it but it was always slightly off still. Then it just stopped working all together.I thought it had something to do with my screen protector but after removal was still a no go.
Luckily I am still able to make phone calls thanks to the slide out keyboard. Not sure if it rings or anything when I recieve one though. Still stuck at the calibration screen Any other ideas?
What size star key is needed to disassemble the tilt/tytn II? I may try taking a look inside to see whats up.

If you're stuck at the calibration screen after a hard reset, how are you able to receive calls? Surely the reset hasn't completed?!?
Also, if you have reflashed to the original ROM, and thats now stuck also, then it has least got the correct ROM image on the device, thus allowing you to return it for a replacement.
Still a little confused about how you're able to use it at all though...
i honestly though it wierd myself. after flashing back to the original rom. at the calibration screen if i slide out the keyboard, press the talk button , close then reopen the keyboard, it lets me dial out using the number keys on the keyboard.
I can actually make out the home page behind the calibration screen as the screen reorientates itself.
edited Well I've no idea what just happened but the screen just stared working again out of the blue. My dog jumped on the bed n stepped on it ant the cursor moved. Very weird. Damn I'm lucky. lol Thanks for the input guys. Lets just hope it doesn't happen again XD

I agree, sounds like a loose connection somewhere
Could be grit between the screen and frame
One of my friends had an XDA Orbit and he had this problem. It turned out it was a crumb or piece of grit wedged between the frame of the phone and the screen causing the screen to be permanently pressed at that point. He used some fine implement (maybe a pin - can't remember) to dig it out. If this was the problem with your phone that may explain why it suddenly started working viz the bit of grit became dislodged by itself.
Cheers,
Ashley

Thats doggone lucky!! Just another reason to have a dog around...
from several days ago whem i touch in diamond icons never select the one i touch!!!... It selects the icon on left or right but never the right one....
When i have a phone call i select the green icon and it turns the phone off
What can i do?
I aligned the screen thousands of times, i installed the different calibrators and nothing.
I align screen, it works well for a few seconds and becomes crazy again. I soft reset, a tried everything i remember and always the same.....
Obvious question: Did you Hard Reset?
Try a hard reset.
If that doesnt work then it sounds like the screen is screwed, get the unit swapped.
I've just installed a new rom! I think i have to swapp the unit
The problems are the same. Anything more i can do??
If you just installed a new ROM, did you do a hard reset? To me it sounds as if the calibration for the touch sensor is off. The first thing that you do after a hard reset is calibrate the screen.
So you can try to calibrate the screen, bofore doing the hard-reset.
You can but when you hard reset you just have to do it again
Also, you could check your local optician for any additional problems.
No, but honestly, a hardreset and recalibration should fix the problem. I'm aware that GNes/GSen can give some problems if it thinks it has rotated the screen, but I've never seen that occur outside programs that don't rotate the screen by themselves.
If that doesn't work, Sync it, back it up, whatever you want to do, possibly flash to stock and return it to whereever you bought it/HTC to get it swapped.
thank's everybody... I tried it all and the same. Going to swapp
have the same problem.. it wasn't there before, had the phone for 3 month.. i think it has to do with water under the screen, used it in the rain and then it began to behave this way (due to the big speaker hole maybe?) , it works fine otherwise! Any idea how to fix it? waterdamage? - guarantee or what?
I think it´s wierd if you can´t use it when it´s raining..?

How many phones can be used risk free in rain?
i don't think that's the problem. no water in my phone, rain or other....
i think it started after gsen installed...may be wrong, or else or.....
Very little chance Gsen having anything to do with it. Many people are using that (including me) with no ill effects.
Hmmm, I though I was the only one with this problem. I'm on the second unit now, the first one always do soft reset by itself after every few wake up. Now the alignment always gone off after few minutes of use. I'm waiting for the replacement unit now.
Initially I thought it was because of the ROM update I did, but even after I restore the original ROM, it still happen.
Looks like I'm quite unlucky with the Diamond .
problem solved!!!!
gone to look for assistance.
After 3.30 hours new touch screen and they sad to me new components inside.
For now all good. Till when??....
hope it was the last problem
So its a guarantee issue? - bad components inside?
It still works ok, so i wait to send it away..
till now all ok.
So its been about a year and half since I received this phone for my birthday, and from this moment on, I am 90% sure that these companies design these phones to fall apart after a while so you buy a new one.
Please to not be intimidated by the length of the problems, I really doent want to waste a $600 nice phone. Please help.....
List of problems:
So on one random day, while I was using my phone with EnergyROM sense 6.1 (Not even 6.5 (Windows 6.5.5)) the phone stopped rotating when I flipped the keyboard, as in the screen will not rotate when I try to use the keyboard. The touch screen also becomes uncalibrated, and even when I recalibrate it, it still acts very funky (have to click lower than button or higher, depending on its mood). I did absolutely nothing different with my phone that day, but I did not call my phone dead right away, so I decided to update the ROM with the latest sense 6.5 ROM to see if the OS is corrupt or over-cached. This did not fix the problem.
Also, another very weird thing is the phone's screen will illuminate (I guess backlight), but no picture will show when turned on after sleep mode, and I have to click the top button again to sleep and awake it to get a picture. When flipped, the screen doesn't even fully illuminate, and literally dies down to a black screen (half of the pixels are bright, and then it just fails).
Any help would be very appreciated. What I am thinking of is wiping the phone 100%, and not even leaving a rom on it. I heard there is a command that deletes the junk off your phone from a previous ROM to your updated ROM is clutter free. Any other suggestions?
Edit: I hard reset my phone, and nothing is fixed; I still cannot flip screen into landscape mode.
The "command" you are talking about is called "task 29", look for it in the ROM section.
It sounds like hardware problems, i've had mine for about 1 year and a half as well and no problems besides a couple of scratches.
The flex cable connecting LCD and board might be out of order.... I had the same issue.

Yeah I heard about that problem. I will first task 29 it, but are there any guides to take apart and fix the flex cable, or even just unplugging it and plugging it back in?
Also, what did you do with your broken phone? Did you buy a new one or get it fixed?
Thanks for the feed back both of you.
my X1 also aged same as yours and it still runs flawlessly now. so it might depends on how you used and keep it
as for the "wiping off the phone" its called task 29, and is encouraged to do before you flash a new ROM, have you did it before flashing energyROM?

No, but I just did now, but it seems to be a hardware problem because nothing seems to be working properly still. This is some serious BS because I am very over protected with this phone, just to prevent stuff like this to happen. I have never dropped it ONCE, and it seemed to just wear out by itself. The lenses covering the camera is cracked also, and the screen is all screwed up, and I didnt do absolutely nothing abusive to it, I am 110% sure of this.
Any suggestions on how to fix hardware/ ribbon connected to the screen problem?
Order a new cable and replace it.
If you search on Youtube for the video on how to disassemble x1 there is a complete guide that shows you. Its pretty easy and all you need to do is, take the flex cable out and carefully plug it back in. Then carefully put your X1 back together and hopefully you issue will be fixed. If it still persist, then try and get the flex cable changed.
Hi all,
All of the sudden, a few of my apps(not all) started looping, especially at their startup.. really bizarre.. Like Angry Birds...it lets me finish a turn then restarts as if i had never played that turn...
Also the screen flickers just a little when going back to the home screen. Never did it before. Like coming out of using an alarm, going back to home screen it flickers at the bottom and top of screen, but not with coming back from home app drawer or camera.. Just some apps again.
Now i did drop it about a week ago roughly 3 feet on hard floor(tile) but it is wearing a protective shell(from holster combo) and seems okay otherwise...
No other symptoms..I am not rooted(Because of that qe 0/0-Is there a hack for that?),Im using APEX launcher.... Thank u in advance.. I did search for this a few times but no results..
I did a recovery,, clear cache, twice. Then twice a factory reset so i am starting fresh and hope that works.. BUT, I would like to know what caused those problems so I can learn..
Rich
hey richsapf, no one cares about your dumb apps looping around....LOL,,,,

Probably no one else has had this issue. Is it still doing it after the factory reset? I wonder if there is a some sort of circuit or something causing like a little power surge from the battery.

Hi....
The only thing that helped me was to do a factory reset... Thank you for replying!..
Actually it seems that this issue was due to the verizon microsim, I remove it and my phone works verry well now.
