As the title asks, is there any way to do this? I know it's a system app but is there no way to install it on a custom ROM?
I went from [NUT]'s 4.4.4 Stock to my more preferred ROM KitSlim. As usual I use TiBu before moving from one ROM to the other.
I do know that on NUT's ROM the POBox is installed, and on the KitSlim it is not. So I backed up the system app 'POBox Touch' as well as 'Japanese Keyboard Layout' (because I don't know if that one was needed as well).
So I have the .apk and stuff, but when I go to recover either from tibu, or ES File Explorer none of them work.
'Japanese Keyboard Layout' got restored but when I try to restore the POBox on TiBu it just stays stuck on restoring. And on ES File Explorer it just says did not install.
Any ideas? Does it have to do with signature stuff? Any workaround?
Do I have to extract the stock one and the custom rom and put it in then repack it as a .zip?
Yes I know about other keyboards like Simeji, but if possible I'd like to keep the POBox Keyboard.
KitSlim dev has released a patch for his ROM exactly what I wanted.

Help
Rom Manager will not show in Root Explorer or Astro whether its installed or not. This is on my Xoom 3g, rooted by Root My Xoom, without Timat. Clockworkmod will not update my Xoom to HRI66, it doesn't exist but it does at SDcard/update.zip. I've been researching this and working on this for 2 days now. Using Root My Xoom while rooting can't install in either. Suggestions needed.
Have you tried the instructions here: wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barebones ?
I just use Root Explorer and delete it.
Make sure you look in system\app to find it.
Works for me without an issue.
With Titanium Backup is very simple.
Yeap with titanium backup is very very simple, just click on uninstall app and enjoy
Before you Install ROM Manager - read this!
I installed ROM Manager v.4.8.0.6 which includes ClockworkMod (CWM) to backup my new stock ROM.
Problem #1 with ROM Manager
CWM won't install because it does not use verified signatures which my stock device requires to install it.
I removed ROM Manager and re-booted.
I installed ROM Toolbox.
Problem #2 with ROM Manager
With ROM Toolbox, when trying to backup ROM I get the message:ROM Manager blocked other apps from creating backups in recovery unless ROM Manager Premium is installed.
Once you install ROM Manager Premium you can use ROM Toolbox to backup your ROM. I have sent emails and tweets to the author but have yet to receive a reply. (See attached screen capture)
bump..I experience the same
I flashed my galaxy tab with a stock ROM Android 3.2 via Odin than rooted again, but ROM Toolbox brings up the same dialog. I'm a newbie, but this looks weird to me. I think that after this type of flash the cache and all data should be wiped.
So is it a really a problem of ROM manager, when it has not been installed after the stock firmware upload?
same here
i have encountered the IDENTICAL problem to Catalyst2012. Has anyone figured out what to do? My device is Vodafone 858 (Huawei U8160), if that helps?

according to Koush, the developer of ROM Manager:
ClockworkMod recovery is open source. However, the hooks that ROM Manager uses to automate backups by hooking into ClockworkMod Recovery are proprietary.
I have told other developers, if they wish to use the ClockworkMod Recovery hooks, they can do it in the following ways:
1) Build, distribute, and support their own version of ClockworkMod Recovery, so that I am not responsible for the maintenance of it.
2) Use the ROM Manager API, which requires a ROM Manager Premium License.
The user can ALWAYS make backups manually in recovery, without a Premium license.
Basically, the issue here is that developers are relying on me and my open source work, which I maintain, to build a competing product to my paid applications. Essentially undercutting me by relying on me developing 90% of the product for them. It seems pretty silly for me to continue maintaining and distributing something that directly competes with my income, so I put a stop to it. If they want to build a competing product, they will have to go through all the hassles involved with building, distributing, and supporting recovery images.
So, no, those other applications are not "blocked" from creating backups. They are just being lazy, and not actually building/flashing their own recovery image. Nothing is preventing them from building a ROM Manager clone, if they really wanted to. They are just avoiding doing the hard part.

1. run ClockWorkMode with superpol′zovatelâ2. click boot in rekaveri3. reboot and there is a problem in the form of inscriptions: failed to verify whole-file signatureE: signature verification failedV the problem who experienced?
The is no responded from rom manager. He just takes your money and won't respond to email.
I finally made the jump and rooted my Droid 1 today and installed CM6. I had issues with Rom Manger giving me an error when trying to download CM6 with Google Apps, so I downloaded the ROM from the web and installed it manually. Works like a charm.
I tried to go back to ROM Manager and just install Google Apps, but it keeps giving me an error during downloading.
I still need the Google Apps installed... I have downloaded the zip and moved it to my SD card, but can't figure out how to flash it. (been searching the past hour for an answer) I have gone to recovery mode but it looks like that is only to update ROMs (update.zip) am I missing something easy here?
Thanks

It depends on what Recovery image you are using. For some reason ROM Manager gets a bad CRC or other error when downloading the GApps addon update zip. Don't know why. However if you get the latest file directly from the CyanogenMod site (hardware appropriate of course) you can install it from the recovery screen.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 and it allows you to specify a .zip of any name and directory on the SD-card (you have to mount it first). I'm not sure if normal SPRecovery allows for that. Make no mistake, installing the GApps is basically a ROM update, as it installs them to the System apps folder (which is essentially read only).
One thing to note once you get it installed. Sometimes you get issues with updating the ROM's apps (including GApps). This was notoriously noticed with the new Car Home and the new YouTube apps. In order to fix it, you have to use RootExplorer, TitaniumBackup or another SuperUser enabled browser or app manager to forcefully remove the system app, then get the updated app from the Market.
I hope that helps.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 but didn't see a menu item for installing zip files. I ended up renaming the Gapps file to Update.zip and flashed it in recovery mode. Worked like a charm.
Thanks
Do any of you have this error itself?
I'd like to see if I could make sense of it. Back when I installed Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 on my new phone, about 2 weeks ago, I was able to install it with GApps with no problem.
I know there will be someone saying that this is already posted but I have not seen as with multiple searches and extensive readings.
Can all the Apps from the SCH-I500 be posted somewhere and I mean the APK's or zipped versions on this site? With all the flashing there are a few from the original that are very good, then they are lost. Or an area to teach us how to abstract them from the ROM's we found them on or the originals. Or link's to where they can be found?
Like Desk Cradle etc. I have flashed many of the ROMs like the Froyo (Kaos), Super Clean, DJ05, DL09 the new Red recovery kernel etc. but always there was something good from the original that I can not find or wished I had back.
Also, is there a moderator on the site that can get the non Fascinate stuff out of here or move? Like Eris, Telus, I9000 we are confused enough without keeping it pure - Samsung Fascinate SCH-I500.
Thaks for any help or suggestions,

Skillz360 Thank you for your reply.
But Lucy please Esplain!
I have used Titanium and backed up some but as usual the wrong ones the VZW crap.
Do I just backup all that I like or would be interesed in? Then when I reload Titanium on the new ROM the apps will be there for reinstall? Also in Astro all I see are the APK's I downloaded from Market or not the OEM's. And I am rooted.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

use Titanium to backup what ever apps you want and you can just use it to restore the app or apps that you want on a new rom ect.. yes when you reinstall Titanium on a new rom you can just load your app or app that you want
If you go into Rom Manager, under sonofskywalker3's section, most of the stock apps can be reinstalled from there.
Thanks
I have seen under ROM Manager but they do not have many and does anyone know where they go when you use ROM Manager or are they only temporary?

Actually as well as I'm aware, by default Titanium Backup does not backup system apks, it only makes a backup of system app data. I use Root Explorer, go into the /system/app/ folder and manually select and copy over desired apks onto the sdcard.
Look for stock deodexed ROMs, you can unzip them and get your desired apks onto your sdcard, and use Root Explorer to copy them into your /system/app/ folder.
If you need any of the system APKs let me know. I have most of them available in deodexed form.... I believe from the DJ05 leak. But should work on whatever. Just let me know which ones you need and I can send you a link for them.

I used to be on stock gb rom and rooted, then i flashed to stock ics rom through pc odin. However after being on ics rom i can't install titanium backup, it says device memory low or full, but i still have about 1gb of free space. All other apps would install without a hitch except titanium backup. Can someone please help?
First you should post exactly what rom you flashed and if you followed instructions if you rooted etc etc etc.
then maybe people can help you better.
- compumasterpr already mentioned it and you’re probably aware of it, anyway, TB of course needs root permissions
- TB stores the backups in /sdcard/TitaniumBackup, so you can copy this directory manually for safety’s sake
- delete /sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup if it exists
- clear data of TB in settings-> applications
- if that still doesn’t help, have a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722145
http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb
When i flashed my Note from gb to ics i also lost root. So i think you should re root it
i already re rooted thru cmw.
update: i read somewhere here that i need to delete a file associated with TB, what i did was installed es file explorer to go thru the system files and deleted the so called file in sys/apps. that seem to did the trick as i can install TB.

what file is this? I have the same error.
Hello everyone .
I'm experiencing some setbacks with my backups.
It is the following: I can not flash to backup my apps next to ROM, I simply need to wait for ROM to start, then yes, I will flash the zip of my applications !!!
With the zipme it is possible to flash together with the ROM, but with the titanium not! But the zipme on my phone to the apps are giving FC, so I have to use the titanium!
But do you have a solution for that? Something I can change in the script or something? To be able to flash apps in conjunction with the rom installation?
