Hey guy, first of all sorry for my bad english. I'm brazilian and just trying.
So... My Galaxy S advance ( called Galaxy S2 Lite in Brazil ) is getting just low signal in WCDMA mode, and the GSM is so slow. I have a 3G plan and wanna use it. Please, help-me. I'm about to destroy my phone, i did search a lot of forums and blogs but nothing helped me.
Again, sorry for my bad english. ( I accept english correction too.)

What about other phones? Do they get low signal too or it is just your phone? Maybe it is from your provider, low signal.
Same problem here i'm using Orange in Romania( Orange have strongest signal in my country), but i get only 1 or 2 lines of signal. The sim on other phone work perfectly.

Hi Cassatta, I'm from Genève, CH and using a Kaiser configured with Orange but I never can use video call, I don't know why. Let's try together tomorrow (20/08/2008).
By the way, which ROM do you have? Did you backup the original from Orange Switzerland??? I need it to configure my keyboard...

I am using the original from from Orange: 1.82.71.1 FRE.
Tomorrow is impossible for me (no 3G where I am).
Could please give me your phone number and I'll call you next week.

Sorry all!!
I have a problem with my Kaiser and it is sent today to the Orange support.
See you later!!
Bye!!
In the US?
Anyone in the states wanna give this a try?
Don't you need a frontal camera to do video calls?
Not sure on the US version of the Kaiser, but on other branded phones. You can use the main camera, but have to be using a mirror or keep turning the phone around.

Hello Cassatta.
By the way, could you please dump your original ROM or ask someone (Anonymous e.g.) on how to do it?
Moreover, I called Orange CH to have a detail about my SIM card that is ok for video calls. The only answer they could give me was: "soft reset you phone and wait for 10 minutes before it works..."
If anyone else has an idea of the problem...
I'm currently using HyperDragon III Pro released 21/09/2008 (i think).
I send you my phone number by pm.

Neo
Hi guys,
Have just got a HTC Diamond. I've noticed it has very poor 3g or sometimes even E or g reception in places where my old phone worked fine.
Am very disappointed with this, as I really like the phone but practicality is also very important.
Is there anything I can do to improve the 3g reception please?
Have a search on this forum using the SEARCH function and put in bout H reception or 3G or bad reception.
I had problems with my HTC Touch Diamond, but after updating to the latest ROM version using the eclub i have found my Diamonds reception alot better.
What version of RADIO is your phone running? START, SETTINGS, SYSTEM TAB, DEVICE INFORMATION.
As far as i can tell from this forum, version 1.00.25.05 is the best RADIO out at the moment.
Hope this helps!

Let us monitor the strength of the radios
Hi!
I think, for me..bull****!
As I can remember from my trinity times (I loved them) there was a programm - I can't remember the name - which gave a lot of information of the radio!
As I used to flash my trinity very often I couldn't remember the rom/cooker which placed this tool!
Any suggenstions? Maybe tnyynt or udK or FInixNOver can remember?!
Thx!

unfortunatley the only improvement you will gain is by updating the radio, make sure you research it well before you attempt it if youre unsure of what youre doing.
Im not sure if i can link to external websites here but check out http://modmydiamond.info/
*mods feel free to remove the link if it violates the sites terms and conditions*

If you want a free, objective way to check the reception in your area BEFORE you lock yourself with a specific carrier, you should really check out “Got Reception?” (http://www.gotreception.com).

Thanks.

From website gsmnation.com this and this, the difference is only the 3G freq.
P970 3G Network: HSDPA 900 / 2100.
P970h 3G Network: HSDPA 850 / 1900.

I see, well, will i still be able to use p970 firmware/RoMs though?

It should work (but not guarantee) might be having problem with 3G, but you can try it.. And if it doesn't work, you can always go back to your original ROM.

When i was on Nova v8, my 3G was so slow most of the time, and i had low signal bars sometimes, would that be because of it? or is it just because of a lame carrier?

It might be, because the 3G frequency are difference But how about with your original ROM, is it fine with 3G?
I Haven't used it for enough time, I flashed to Nova a few days after i purchased it so i can't really tell, guess i'll have to find out now.
I probably wouldn't be able to update to 2.3/4.0 until one of the carriers releases a version for p970h. :/
Perhaps it can, if you able to customized your ROM to work with P970h 3G bands

well, cm7 is already based on 2.3... comparing original rom [froyo] to cm7 [GB] in my opinion and exp cm7 has a greater performance like stock=4 sit sedan and cm7=F1
battery is somehow the same, and with costum kernels is getting even better
so it's up to you really
Hi guys!
So I have this weird issue ever since I updated to Jelly Bean.
Everything works fine after JB update, except my mobile data. I can now only get about 152kbps speed on 3g covered areas where everyone else gets 5Mbps.
I have tried a bunch of things, including flashing the JB radio firmware with the tool posted on the dev section... all to no avail. This is really bugging me!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
FYI: I'm rooted, unlocked bootloader, and have flashed the FR Orange JB update.
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
Other people on here may know a lot more than I do on this, but there are really only two elements to this in my understanding: device capability and network offering. The middle-point is of course, reception. If you don't get those speeds, it's likely reception. Many of us on here, who like modding, imagine the most difficult option as being the problem, I'd wager that it's the simplest... (I mean that sincerely, I'm not mocking!)

Nope, but thanks for the suggestion. I've already made sure it's not reception or anything physical either. I've tried the three radio firmwares provided in the forums (C7, C9, JB) and nothing.
I think the most plausible thing is that I flashed JB from France when I'm in Mexico.... If only I could find the files from another country and flash them to check this possibility... but I just can't find the link.
Edit: I just flashed the EU retail version and that did not fix my problem. I'm despairing now :'(
Have you emailed Motorola? I have twice and they reply very quickly.

I did and also I ruled out every software and hardware issue. Finally today I resolved to calling my provider (I had avoided this because most often their service is very crappy and the reps don't know squat about what they are talking)....
....
... Turns out that for some stupid reason they had restricted my data. So I guess that's it, and now i feel stypid too hahaha
Hi,
While exploring the 4636 menu I think I may have inadvertently changed the "Set preferred network type" setting. I am in the UK and with Vodafone (if that makes any difference) so could someone with an HTC One on that network please tell me what it says for that setting?
Many thanks.

Nice one. Thanks Bud, , ,
Still need definitve answer
Hello again,
I've got a bit of information now but I would still like to hear from someone with an HTC One on a Vodafone UK contract. If you could do the "4636" menu thingy and tell me what exactly the preferred network is set to?
I noticed that my Vodafone 3G signal is almost completely useless but this may be a separate issue from what I've found on the web.The "H" connection is very fast but when it drops down to "3G" there's no data coming or going at all.
So just to be clear that it is a Vodafone network thing (which others suggest) I want to confirm I've got my preferred network set properly.
Cheers.
Hi, vodafone uk here but I get my phone from P4U, on mine preferred network is set to: GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto.
doesnt it reset anyway when you reboot?
