[ROM] [4.4.2/3] [OFFICIAL] LiquidSmooth v3.1 - LG Optimus 4X HD

Dear XDA Community,
dear Demetris,
This Thread is about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760771
Unfortunately it's not allowed to me to post anything in the official thread, cause I'm new here on the board. BTW: This hard rule makes it almost impossible to take part or give feedback to the developers. As well it's not allowed to send a direct message to anyone. I could imagine that many users actually would like to help to make things better, but that they gave up due to this hard restriction.
Okay, back to Topic.
I tested a lot ROMs for the P880 and the "LiquidSmooth v3.1" from Demetris ist the best for me. It has all this kind of stuff what I need. Pie control (customizable), Halo and it runs really smooth and fast. I would like to say big thanks for this nice ROM to Demetris! Great work, please keep going.
Some questions / minor bugs:
Battery
If the WiFi Module is activate it's not possible to charge the battery. That means I lose more energy as the charger can put in.
(Without WiFi) I'm not able to charge over 95% if the phone is on (Power on but screen is off).
Question
The thread title is saying that's about a official ROM. Is there I reason why I can't find this ROM at the official http://liquidsmooth.net page?
Do you plan to update / maintain this nice ROM in the near future? It would be really nice.
It would be nice if someone could point / link Dimitri to this Thread. My fear is, that he will not notice it.
Best & Thanks,
HDSteff

Official means @Demetris compiled it using official CyanogenMod sources and he is our maintainer on this project AFAIK he maintains liquidsmooth too... But I can be wrong...

Hey gerciolisz,
Thank you very much for your answers!
Maybe Demitris will find a minute to take a look into my thread.
Best,
HDSteff

1. You cant find a rom on official page because looks like they are stuck at v3.0 http://liquidsmooth.net/?page_id=12
2. Updates will come but as Liquidsmooth dont have an autobuild system i need to manually build the rom myself but doing that i lost 2 hdd's thus far due to heat & extreme usage

Im thinking about take back my P880 and try this rom
Sent from my Xperia Arc using xda-developers.com, powered by appyet.com

Hey Demetris,
Thanks a lot for your time & Feedback!
Best,
Steff

Could you post how many files do you have in Android folder. I have 46168 files / 917 folder for a grand total of 850.76MB. I'm wondering is it normal to have so many files, or did I miss something while flashing?
Edit: Nevermind, ES Explorer finally managed to count which folder it was. Apparently an old VLC installation had most of those files. I finally managed to delete all of it.
Go on.

Signal los / RIL issue
Hello,
I am running the Liquidsmooth version 3.2-2014-07-21, kernel 3.1.10-cm+ september 2 2014 and I have this issue. Im loosing network signal in "3G only" mode and it doesnt recovers (it frezes). If i use device in "2G only mode" mobile data connection only, the signal does not crash, and signal almost never goes down(2 times in week).
Devs any solution on this? RIL issue?
Regards and sorry for bad english.

[Q] Overcome ROM 2.0.0 GOLD: T-Mobile Modem Switcher & Battery Drain???

I am new to posting here, and unfortunately can not yet post in the Dev section, so I have to ask this question here:
I have a US TMo Tab, and after disappointing experience with the stock ROM, began flashing custom ROMs from OC 1.4 to Overcome 1.6, and have had nothing but great experience with all of them (and donated more than once to the coffee funds of the devs). They were faster and smoother by far than the stock TMo.
When 2.0.0 came out, I started with the beta installation, and have followed the instructions meticulously as a good noob should do (I have enough experience in IT to know what I don't know and to RTFM).
These are not in the FAQs or answered in the Dev Boards, so here are my questions/issues to report:
I have had a radical drop in battery life - 9 hrs. average with 1.6, 4-5 hrs. now, and no change or addition of apps to speak of. I am holding out as others are now reporting this to see whether it can be fixed before backing out to the earlier version, because of the significant improvement in the Browser and some of the other GB enhancements (kick me, I like Daily Briefing now!).
The biggest problem I having is that since the GB upgrade, the Roto Modem Switcher (enriched his coffee fund as well as Alterbridge and Darkpal's) now goes through the switch, but the script errors out and the screen runs into a series of red lines, I think, when CWM/reboot is invoked, so each time I run this I have to manually reboot the unit. I have seen several posts on this but no concrete answers and I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on what I might be able to try to restore this please.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
Hello,
Sorry I can't be of help, but just want to let you know something.
Don't post your questions in dev section, the response can be pretty offensive.
The dev section is for developers only, so you can reply to overcome 2.0 thread if you have a question or an overcome problem reporting thread if they have one. Posting a question there ... is just inviting flame, happened a lot to xda newbies(myself included).
As far is know about overcome, the current 2.0 gold still has some bugs and the most stable one is still the old 1.6.4. I am still waiting for the stable version of 2.0.
@jpnaggy -
Thanks for the sage advice. I see a lot of that there, and some of it is sound flaming - folks don't follow all the instrux and ask questions that have been answered, sometimes just can't read the thread.
It seems Alterbridge and his devs are a little more tolerant than most, and they really do try to help people out, moreover, they encourage feedback so long as it is constructive because it drives improvements to future releases.
That said, I will keep my fingers crossed that someone can assist here, and really do thank you for the warning. I won't post anything unless it is concise and precise, and unless I have scoured the prior posts in vain for an answer.
Cheers!
are you sure u want to ask a question here in GENERAL section and not in Q|A section ?
Manual rebooting is the new procedure.
Try googling "battery drain galaxy tab" and see where that takes you.
Turn off auto syncing of everything for a day and see what that does. Check your display settings - brightness, color density .
Thanks all!
My bad for posting in the wrong area - thanks @k0sh for the well-deserved dunning. Guess they don't call us noobs for nothing!
@ranger - have googled battery drain for two days straight, and am reading all I can on this.
The problem most definitely started after the last flash - I figured it was a good idea to reset the battery stats since I had done so good on Alter's 1.6 and realize now I should probably have left it alone.
I suspect that had I done so, it would have remained good or gotten better, and it is possible that this explains to some degree why there is such a disparity in battery life others are reporting.
I will patiently await the next update, and promise to post in the right place from now on. Thanks again all for your assitance!

What i like on you that you understand and accept tye fact that you are not gonna post any thread on the wrong section , i was like u also , lmao.
About the battery could u reverse back to froyo then to gingerbread then to beta2 and then update to Rc1 and then to gold . And see how it will work

k0sh - U R A Genius! (U 2 Rangercaptain!)
Okay!
Thanks gentlemen, to you both. After an arduous weekend of flashing and re-flashing I think I may be getting better at this (of course, I am not taking off the training wheels - I follow the Overcome Guide line by line each time because it is way too easy to make a mistake).
First - I flashed back to 1.6 (because I can't stomach putting stock T-Mo back on my Tab no matter what!) - and that went fine. Then I upped to GB using the instrux in Gold's upgrade, then I reflashed current Gold (oh, where is Hermes already? I know, I read the State of the Union, and all the comments on your Dev thread, and I am patiently waiting for more OC Perfection!). But this time, I did one more thing - I took a look at the bloat that was all over my Internal and External SD cards, carefully, just to make sure I wasn't dragging something bad back in. The directory structure on my external SD was SWISS CHEESE - directories nested under one another (e.g. \titanium bu\titanium bu, data\data, etc.).
Gotta think my quick fingers got the better of my slow brain, but since this was such a mess, and I know there is nothing on the internal SD after a full wipe (what, three times with all the re-flashed ROMs) and the Dalvik wipe to boot, I decided to use a Market Backup, just to keep a list somewhere of all my installed Apps (currentl number 247). And this time, I installed them all one by one, rather than restore them from TB.
And this time, no lag, and VERY little noticeable battery drain (@rangercaptain - thank you again!).
@k0sh - You are brilliant! Your suggestion got me thinking this had to be a self-inflicted problem and you were spot on!
So now that you spent all this time helping out a Noob, I am anxiously waiting for the next iteration of Overcome, and this baby is flying right now! Woo hoo! Thanks to you both!

[Q] Rom recommendations

HI, I've been using an S4 since it launched and I gave my I9305 to my fiancée so I haven't been in this forum for a long time to keep up to date on development. I'd say it's about time to update her phone so I've come here to ask you guys to recommend a good rom and kernel combo to me and anyone else whose maybe just picked up this phone.
I need a rom that is primarily great on battery and very stable. She doesn't need the best performance, lots of features and tweaks are nice but not necessarily required as she only uses the phone for calls, text and internet.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
In case it helps, I am a big fan of Liquidsmooth, 2.8 was awesome on batterylife, looked great and has tons of nice features. I think 2.9 is installed on there now, had a few teething problems with it at first but it seems to have improved over time as it setted in.
One bumping is against the rules .
Two what rom best rom posts are against the rules .
Thread closed as its a Best ROM thread.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Great work! Will try it out once finished modding it for XT905.
PS: Why not add it to DevDB?

Yeah, maybe that
Quick question: I'm noticing quite apparent banding on my screen, especially on white background. And occational white noise splash while turning screen on, is it normal or just because I'm using it on XT905? Seems to be kernel related. I'm actually testing out both Gummy and Carbon, both have the same problem.

This is not made for xt905, so I'm not sure... Do you know how that device differs? I'm not aware of any forum for that device...
Edit - just checked, seems CM doesn't support it either? How does CM run?

Should be almost the same since this is just the GSM version of XT907. By apparent I actually mean noticable by human eyes (on while background). It's has to have something to do with the buffer or refresh rate.
Actually all ROMs with minor modification works fine. Not as smooth as I'd hope ie not smoother than debloated stock 4.1, but all things work, sans the occasional white-noise splash while turning screen on and the annoying band morie pattern.
Another question, do you have any plans ditching the emulated sdcard? It's quite pointless with just about 4GB after a full wipe and you have to share the space with apps.
I can't find out the download package of the xt907, is that true? I love carbon team, the black theme looks really nice

We are working on migrating to a new download site + mirror... as our infrastructure was not up to the task (downloads were REALLY slow).
Hopefully the new setup can handle the load! I'll upload the last build to a mirror.
The banding issue affects all 4.4 roms. I don't know the technical details but it seems 3D acceleration is about 50% slower than 4.2 roms. Since nearly everything is composted in the GPU now, everything seems to suffer from poor frame rates and other graphical anomalies.
which is going to be better as a daily driver this one, or the JB?

Personally I would not recommend anything above 4.2.2/CM10.1 at this stage.
It's fine if you want a test drive, and it's stable enough to be a daily driver.
But it's not as fast and feature-complete. Unless you desperately want the new things (ART etc),
you might have to wait for a while (after official kk for RAZR M/HD) before KitKat roms really take off.

I don't know, I prefer the 4.4 ROMs over 4.2. Personally faster for me. It's just right now if people want a lot of features there aren't going to be as many in 4.4 as there are for 4.2, though that will change. It's only because obviously JB has been out longer, but honestly feature-wise things are catching up.
flashing kitkat, because jb was force close city, hopefully its stable

KitKat is buggier than JB4.2 with our dated kernel/driver, that's a fact. For me the banding issue is a showstopper, period. Feature-wise, I do agree it's getting better, but we live in the moment don't we? Like I said, it's cool if you use it just to test it out, you might even be of help to the devs in identifying bugs.
But if you are asking the question "should I use this as my daily driver", the answer is probably no, otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question in the first place.
the kitkat rom seems to be running ok so far

We are no longer using goo.im. I might've missed a nightly job, I'll doublecheck.
Edit - perhaps someone already fixed it... uploads are going to our new mirror.
Is there an error with the reported signal in the battery options? Cell standby shows very high percentage time without signal, upwards of %50. On stock based roms I have never seen more than %1 time without signal.

New Rom Suggestion, Coming from GB

Hello XDA,
It's been a while since I've gone through the whole process of finding a good rom. I'm running Gingerbread still, a variant of DarkyRom_3.4.1 currently. Flash works great. Probably going to miss that. But it's getting slow. I need a reinstall.
Plus, cracked my screen. Bezel edges and corners are also torn up. Paid $140 for new screen and replacement rear back/bezel/case http://www.ebay.com/itm/281265794618?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
So, anybody spend time testing ROMs in the last month? What's new, stable, and clean? I've skimmed the rom list, but nothing beats interactive testing. For looks, I want AOSP but can't decide if I want TW with Apex or Nova, or CM 10.1 like SuperNexus. Trying for speed, fluidity, no bloat.
What have people settled on lately? Opinions are all I ask
How horrible is Flash compatibility now? I tried flash on a Nexus 4 on latest (4.4.2?) and it wouldn't play firstrowsports.eu or projectfree.tv so that's kind of a bummer...
Any suggestions would be great! Don't want to spend a full week testing roms and rewiping my phone..I don't have a second to use while I play with my Note, and I'm kinda busy with work lately to wipe my phone over and over.
Another question while I'm at it... Is a nandroid backup taken with my outdated CWM going to restore OK after I upgrade? Thinking I'll be ok.
Thanks :good:
If you are too lazy to test yourself then stay on stock rom.
Why should other members do the work for you and write here - which is simply a best rom thread and so against XDA rules (reading them might help you).
And: many members who cooked or developed roms spent a lot of time doing this and making good threads, tutorials and instructions. So please use these and pay a little respect to them by doing so.

Thanks for taking the time to tell me I'm lazy. I work hard, thank you very much.
Why should other members "do the work for me"? Well, without trying to justify anything, I've answered questions for other people, simply out of the kindness of my being, just because I know the answer. Last time I put in the effort of testing rom after rom, I shared my knowledge. I'm sure there's other people out there like me. I mean, with your methodology, we should all be told to go Google it...which is akin to telling someone to go shove it.
If you've put in the effort of trying roms, and you have the time to leave me a helpful response, and you don't consider it "working for me", I'd appreciate it.
At the moment im on c-rom kitkat its pretty fast and have alot of options. Its not touchwiz . Everyone has their own likings so flash one if you dont like flash another. End of story. I did what you did before asking for best roms and at the end i pick a rom no one mention in the thread in my own phone

I've been using the OmniROM variants lately and found them to be slightly faster than TW-based ones. Right now I'm on Asylum OmniROM Naughties 4.4.2 and it's been pretty stable and zippy so far. Battery life is same as with TW. Not sure about Flash compatibility as I don't use it. As for nandroid backups, I recently read that you need to restore using the same kernel/recovery as you used when you made the backup. Not sure if that's true or not, but something to keep in mind if you're jumping from ROM to ROM.
AryaMod 5.5 is the best rom right now and has Flash support enabled by default. Every JB (or even KITKAT) version can handle Flash if you sideload Flash Player apk and a compatible Browser (Like Firefox). The stock, Samsung browser have Flash support enabled without any hack.

Thanks for your reply, as well as the others. I'll be giving AryaMod a go.
I [and many others] really wish samsung would publish the hardware composer and other needed source for AOSP builds....It seems like I keep loving the AOSP interface more. Paranoid is awesome. AOKP helps little things. CM features are also great. Together, perfect.
For me, Stunner 2 is GUI perfect. Functionality missing though. Of course, need that hardware acceleration. Can't use my Vulkano (Hava). Can't watch Top Gear without transcoding from MKV.
On another "note" (no pun intended lol), does anybody know a 5.3" or larger phone that is 100% AOSP friendly?
Xperia Z-Ized this great rom
I have a meaningful update!
I found a new phone, and it's going to be cheap, and very new because it's about to be released.
Check out the OnePlus One, http://oneplus.net/ $300 / $350 middle of May supposedly.
Hello guys,
I use AryaMod V7 for a week. It´s a very fast, stable, battery friendly and smooth ROM with S5 theme. Also with S-Pen apps

Does this thread help or dilute help for AHD users?
Just a consideration about the possible downside of having a separate thread for AHD/CM12.1. As I mention here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60552125&postcount=3118 "As to a dedicated MB886 thread; it would be nice but our cohort (MB886 users actively testing CM12.1) is small and if we did that we would be less able to pick the brains of the more experienced Devs/hobbyists who are tweaking similar ROMs from the same phone family. At least we have kabaldan and others working on issues related to our phone that were reported here and through Jira.".
Unless the Devs prefer a separate thread we might be better off in the shared thread - since those more experienced and greater in # users wont come here to help us we'll have to monitor that thread anyhow. Food for thought.
Also, some minor corrections and cleanup suggested for OP;
- skrilax should be Skrilax_CZ (which may be why the mention link is broken and pointing to different user named skri. In any event you don't want the mention system referring to wrong user.
- nadlabak mention link also seems to be broken and sending contact to wrong user, in this case one named nad. I know nadlabak is the reference used in the old CM11 thread but he has been posting lately as his palindromic doppelganger "kabaldan". Using kabaldan might straighten out that broken mention link.

OP updated
Reviewing posts I realize my last one came off more critical than was intended so I've returned to adjust the tone.
It's not like I don't appreciate the thread. In fact there are notable benefits of having a thread that is device and ROM specific. It was just that with only about 4 or 5 AHD users regularly dipping in to test CM12.1 and report in these threads I was concerned that an additional thread would water us down, but the opposite may be happening. It seems that some AHD/CM12.1 users that were not participating in the other thread have found this thread. Even if we have to follow 2 threads to track bugs and issues, if this thread keeps bringing new AHD users into the conversation that is great. so Thanks!
What I'll start doing is posting test results in both this thread and in the the other one http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr-hd/development/lollipop-5-0-runs-msm8960s-kkbl-t2939832

Just for your interest:
1st May build seems to be completely stable for me.
I have no reboots at all, descent battery life, nearly no bugs. But I should say, I am not a heavy user.
The only one bug that I have is that sometimes the screen does not power up at incoming call, and I have to press power several times to turn it on. But I have had this bug on pretty all custom roms for AHD.
So, I think that I will stay on this build.

Across both CM11 and CM12 it is not uncommon to have media sync issues immediately after installation. Normally I've experienced this as ringtones that are absent until after an additional reboot. Maybe this was a similar issue.
[EDIT] Forehead slap. I thought you wrote SD rather than SIM, so these issues might not be related but, for what it is worth I did recently see someone else report about something similar where the SIM was not detected for a while (forget where).
installed CM12.1 ver 5.1.1 in Atrix HD with Gapps and not work Play Store, Then download Play Store in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996995 and not work ???
Any can help
Edit: Not have the gapps "Google Play Services", solution; download and install this apk, after working Play Store, also install other apk that you need
I was told that I should've recvd about ten texts and I never got them. So I did a hard reboot then all of a sudden they showed up. It went through the "android is upgrading" Wth?
