[q] lg g2 verizon root status - Verizon LG G2

When I rooted my LG G2, I noticed that in the About Phone tab under Settings, there was a label that showed my root status. I was wondering if there was some way to remove that label and make it say unrooted , without losing root?

[Q] Boot into phone without SIM

Hi,
Here's a little history of my question.
My sister was using a droid bionic on verizon 4G network. After the end of her contract, she bought a new phone and this awesome phone got passed to me.
Now I brought the phone to India WITHOUT the SIM.
And , to not snoop on my sis's accounts that were on the phone, I did a factory/data reset from settings---> Privacy
Now, the phone boots to android setup as all phones do but touching the android asks for a sim (even though i am connected to wifi). My India Vodafone sim isnt recognised and I'm currently stuck here.
The phone is currently running 2.3.4 stock unmodded, unrooted rom.
I want to update to Jelly Bean(Optional)
Unlock the GSM radio (usiing radiocomm perhaps? havent read thru fully yet)
And then use the phone here in India.
But as I said, I'm stuck in the android setup screen. somebody please advice!
To bypass the setup screen, just tap all for corners of the screen. Start at the top left and go clockwise. That should let you in the phone.

[Q] AT&T S4 Active rooted unlocked - WiFi Access Point does not work

Hi,
I've bought an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (I537 with the firmware UCUAMF2), rooted it with Activeroot (thanks Geohot!) and than unlocked it successfully with the code I've purchased on ebay. The phone functions work well, I can make calls, send SMS and use mobile internet (4G). However, when I try to swith on WiFi access point either in Settings or by the stock app "Access Point" (and similar third parties apps too), I get the error message "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM". I've kept all the AT&T system apps except AT&T HotSpots and just disabled OTA software update option (by renaming two KNOXAgent files). Do you have any ideas how to solve this problem?
i´m on the same boat but for galaxy s4, try this tutorial http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-tutorials/how-to-wifi-tether-att-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337/
its for i337 but it might work for you, didnt work for me :/
SOLVED!!! Use the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2420488

Did u figure this out? There's no way the phone can b deactivated? Makes no sense. Unless your straight talk month service ran out.
WOW guys
here's the scenario.
i have the at&t s4 i337 with ST (straight talk sim)
my wife has the at&t s5 g900a with ST (straight talk sim)
both rooted stock 4.4.2 and titanium pro BOTH WITH at&t software update, Knox, lookout ALL FROZEN/DISABLED
been having issues with my S4 so I took my ST sim out and put in my wife's S5 to test my sim card.
all of the sudden device management arrows /at&t software update shows up in the bar on my Wifes S5
immediately the s5 became completely disabled to any network capability.
checked apn settingsetc etc. the s5 was COMPLETELY dead to any network.
5 hours on phone back n forth with ST and AT&T they blamed each other for my issue (saying the other was blocking the service)
Come to find out, the S4 ive been using for over a year, that i bought on ebay has a BAD IMEI! (never thought to check)
Bottom line, for some reason when i put the ST sim from my phone (bad imei-s4) into her S5 it triggered some sort of update that shut off network communication on the S5. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AT&T Software update disabled on the S5!!!!
SOLVED
Unfortunately i am going to have to buy myself a new phone because i cant keep a stolen phone in good conscious, and i went and bought a new ST Sim for wifes phone and transferred to it, now her phone is all back to good.(must have flagged the sim itself)
Moreover, i would like to know, for future reference, HOW/WHY could At&T force an update to shut down network/sim card when AT&t update and knox etc etc was frozen/disabled in Titanium??????
Even MORE, what other apps can i disable or freeze on the S5 to prevent ANY future automatic/forced updating to occur???
Is there a full freezable apps list for the S5 ? Specifically ones for at&t updates?
i mean, i assumed OTA stuff was strickly FW upgrades only (i.e. like 4.3 to 4.4 etc etc)
Freeze the following to stop all updates:
AT&T Software Update.
FWUpgrade.
LocalFOTA.
Samsung Push Service.
Security Policy Updates.

[Q] Questions about my "new" used LG G4 LS991

Ok, so after wanting a G4 since the moment they were first announced with info leaks and whatnot, I finally got one, the Sprint LS991 variant and it's currently running UltraPOP AOSPish LS991 LG G4 V1.0 (the previous owner apparently was well versed in ROMs and whatnot as I try to be). The build shows as MRA58K, Android 6, etc etc all the info you folks probably know well.
I have a few questions if anyone cares to take a peek and see if I'm missing anything:
1) Right off the bat I am well aware of the ZVB update from last week that has the anti-rollback code in it so I'm going to do my very best to stay the hell away from that one but here's the actual first question: since UltraPOP is a stock ROM or built from it and not rooted is it safe to presume that any potential OTA updates will still get pulled down given enough time and I can simply choose to not install them to keep it working with this ROM?
2) This LS991 is unlocked for domestic GSM operation as the previous owner was using it with T-Mobile (verified when I first held the G4 before I went ahead with out deal). Question number two: is there any way that I can check or find out if the domestic GSM unlock that's in place was done by Sprint (meaning it should stay unlocked permanently not matter what I might do to it) or if the unlock was done by one of the methods mentioned here in this subforum for the Sprint G4? My concern of course is that if I decide to just roll it back to ZV6 (which I apparently can do at the moment and I'm considering it just to do it, I'll explain more below) and one of the unofficial "hacks" that get the domestic GSM unlock working will then fail and I'd be stuck without being able to make use of my T-Mobile service or perhaps would that mean I just have to do one of those methods to restore the unlock?
tl;dr Will the OTAs be stopped because I'm running a custom ROM but based on stock and not rooted, and is there any way to verify the domestic unlock as having been done by Sprint or, is an unlock an unlock and once it's done it's permanent, period?
Ok, as for rolling back to ZV6 I'd do that because of root, obviously, but here's the thing: for me personally I only require root for one purpose and that purpose is to install Xposed so I can make use of the Physical Button Volume Control module which lets me handle music playback controlled by the volume control buttons (long press, skip, etc). That's it for me personally - I have no other use for root so I'd be quite happy with stock non-rooted operation but unfortunately to get that proper volume rocker control I'm forced to have to root a device to get Xposed/PBVC installed and working.
If anyone has any info I'd love to hear it. I don't particularly like this UltraPOP, to be honest, I kinda like LG's stock setup and functionality but having the ability to control music playback with the volume buttons is a major thing for me so if I can make it work and I have to roll back to ZV6 to do it, then that's what I'll do. It really does mean that much to me, definitely.
Thanks for any assistance, it's appreciated greatly.
Have fun, always...

Purchased a Scratch & Dent LG V40 Thinq from Woot.com

Hello all,
I purchased a LG V40 Scratch & Dent from Woot.com that is supposed to be unlocked, but it doesn't read my sim card and when I boot it up, I get a Sprint logo screen during the boot process and when I go to settings > status at the bottom it says "Brand" with Sprint below it. Anyone know how I can get this thing working without having to spend anything?

I'd say, if you know the sim card to be good, send it back, if possible. Just because it's a Sprint variant, it should still work with a gsm sim card.
You can crossflash it, but if the device is having a hardware issue, it won't fix that.
cheers
I know the sim to be good, works fine in my unlocked Motorola One Action, but when I insert it into the V40 my phone number or any network info doesn't show up in the settings, like it should.
