Lost rotation - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey what's up everyone. I have the att i537 and I used towelroot then downloaded superusersu then titanium backup. The issue I have having is that I lost the ability to rotate after removing some bloatware. I didn't think I deleted system files, only some att apps, Samsung hub, and a couple other apps like google+. I wasn't thinking and should've froze them and not completely Uninstall but I was rushing and it happened. Anyways...does anyone know which file is needed for the rotation? The rotation does however work for the camera, netflix, youtube. Thank you for your time.

Had this same issue. I read it was related to removing Samsung Hub. But I'm suspecting it is even more specific to the removal of the SHealth SensorService. I had to start all over by reflashing 4.3 (again) then I took the OTA 4.4 over wifi (again). After that I only FROZE apps as opposed to uninstalling. I have Samsung Hub and SHealth frozen and SensorService I left alone. My rotation has worked fine since.

Using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

had the same issue. followed the instructions in this post and it worked perfectly. it's because you deleted samsung hub, just as I did. this fixes the issue without having to reinstall samsung bloatware.

Apps not showing in Market 'my apps'

In continuation to the minor problems with my new IS, the first being Bluetooth transfers restarting the phone, (here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071021);
another issue am having is with respect to apps in the my apps section of market which allows updated.
Since this is a new phone, i had some apps transferred from other handsets and installed, rather than downloading them all over again.
None of the apps are showing in market to update, not a single one!
i have read about this in other posts, where clearing the cache seems to solve the problem, but it does not help in my case.
any idea why this could be happening & any possible solutions?
The only solution i think is a firmware update...
Depending on the apps, they may not be compatible with 2.2, what are they?
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk
Regular apps like astro, angry birds, barcode scanner.
just a few off the top of my head.
the apps do work, and if there is an update available, the app prompts for the same when opened.
however, in the last tab of market, which displays all the installed apps & those which have an update, not even a single app is shown except google maps...
Are you rooted?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
could you be so kind to dump your build.prop?
it sounds it got fked on some way...
@dfd9999
Nope, no root, no changes what so ever.
Stock IS
@Hawkysoft
errr... could you kindly explain how i should do that?
Titanium Back up can fix market links… but I believe you have to be rooted for it to work but I may be wrong, its worth a shot!
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
just uninstall the last app you got from the market.
if the method from lgm_dev is not working:
try to clear data/cache from the market. Settings->apps->manage->(tab all)-> market and clear the data there
Index should be rebuilded when it is started again.
IncS is my first Android phone and i have just got Root access. But after i flashed a new Rom and log on to Android Market with my Google account, there is only the apps i have paied for, and not all the free apps i have downloaded befor the flash.
Is it realy only the paied apps it rembers?

Debloating the Note 3

I have my Note 3 rooted and am trying to get rid of all the boatware. I was able to download an app called "No Bloat" and removed a lot of the At&t crap (family map, att wifi). My issue is not all of it was removed. I can see quite a few of them in my application manager under "Turned Off".
Is there an app that will allow you to delete these?

I debloat manually and I got everything removed. What're under your turn off? All the turned off I see for me are the ones that I freezed using titanium backup.

Actually I deleted all the useless At&t and Samsung ones with Titanium Backup. Worked great.
I kept all the s pen ones in case I want to use them later. Currently under Turned Off now is only "Browser Bar".
I did see that there is a all in one debloat for the Samsung Note 3 but you have to have CWM installed and I dont think its compatible with our N900A yet.

Apps safe to Freeze/Delete on AT&T GS5

Ok guys, I hope this helps some if not all of you. This is a list , or pictures, of apps that i usually delete or freeze depending on the app. Applications that may be used in the future like "AT&T Software Update" might be wise to just freeze. Applications like "Beats", unless you use them, I would delete them. If you are unsure of what applications to delete or freeze, it is safer to just freeze the application, as this leaves the application installed on your phone but it is no longer running in the background. When looking at the pictures, the pictures with items with a line accross, this are apps I uninstalled, the other ones are frozen. that are Many applications in the Google Playstore allow you to freeze or delete system apps, but I find Titanium Backup Pro to be more direct and easier to use.
DISCLAIMER: I take no responsibility if you brake your phone, or find your balls after debloating the $#it out of your Galaxy S5.
List:
Safe to Freeze:
AT&T Hot Spots
AT&T Software Update
BlurbCheckout
Chrome
com.sec.android.app.sbrowserty
Device Help
ELM Agent
Email
Exchange Services
Gmail
Google+
Hangouts
Internet
Keeper
KLMS Agent
KNOX
KNOX Notification Manager
Mobile TV
My Files (ONLY if you have a third party file manager)
My Magazine
S Helath
Samsung Push Service
Smart Remote
Swype
Talkback
YP
Apps to delete
Use with caution, if you don't know it is safer to freeze.
waplauncher
AT&T Digital Locker
AT&T Messages
AT&T Mobile Recovery
AT&T Navigation
Beats Music
com.cequint.ccid (This is the ID caller app. can't remember the actual name)
ChatOn
AT&T Drive Mode
Flipboard
Google Books
Google Games
Google music
Google Magazines
Lookout Antivirus
Polaris Office
imsqmisocket (Can't remember the actual name)
Media
Hopes this helps. If it did hit "thanks"
It'd be more helpful if you made a list

Have you tried freezing S-Voice? That app is single handedly keeping me from buying an S5. I hate S-Voice with a passion and every time I get a Samsung phone, I put so much time and effort into disabling it, but it never goes completely away.
I deleted s voice
I was thinking a list would be better because when you delete certain apps they change the name

You didn't have to wait for root to disable S-Voice, was possible right out of the box to disable it.
this is weird, I just rooted my s5 using towelroot and installed chainfire's SU then installed TiBu pro with no problem but when I tried deleting some at&t bloatware like at&t navigator.. it keeps giving this "cannot delete system app, unable to locate apk file"..anyone encountered this?
Is there another app that can freeze the AT&T OTA? I have app freeze and app quarantine and it doesn't give me the option to freeze it.
I don't have TiBu pro yet, maybe I'll buy it next month. Are there any temporary solutions to stop with the OTA?

Force stopping the service and renaming the APK in the /system folder should work (e.g. 'softwareupdater.apk.dontrun'). I don't know what the file name of the updater is though, so you will have to do some research.
freeze/delete
i have deleted all apps on the delete list and my phone is booting faster, and i have no issues and i have turned off some of the apps too since i dont have the paid version of titanium backup. all is fine.
Im pretty sure deleting system apps ruins your chance of getting an OTA update in the future, should you choose to want one eventually. I wouldnt delete any system apps. Freezing is fine.

but at&t navigator isnt a system app, I just dont understand why TiBu sees this as a system app and cannot locate the apk. I have turned off this app including other bloatware even before we achieved root but I want to completely remove them

this is my first android smartphone and only my second smartphone (first being iphone 3gs). I was wondering if someone knew what the apk name and location was so that I could at least for the moment rename the updater services so I don't have to worry about getting an update. I know most people talk about titanium backup and some other paid apps but currently I don't have the money to go that route.
I am still learning this and I tried to search to see if someone had any good alternatives to TiBu but I didn't find any results. I saw some things on the Verizon section but none of those files they mentioned were on the AT&T phones (and I was hesitant to assume they would share the same updater service).

This can be disabled using the normal Android app manager. TiBu can't find the apk because the app isn't technically installed on your phone, yet. If you tried launching the app, it takes you to the google play store to download and install.

No, because you can just factory reset and have it back.
be careful please do not tick ultra power saving mode after rooting and removing some apps, it has not been tracked to exactly what is causing it but it is happening to a few of us.
I removed the standard AT&T ****, isis wallet, the google crap i dont use and a few others with titanium, tested it out for a few hours worked great, had apex installed as the default launcher,
CLICKED ultra power saving mode to test it.. POW on reboot phone loads to only a black and white AT&T logo and it is dead there..
Even if you go into recovery mode and factory reset, the phone will now boot, but after unlock its dead no background and just a black screen the pull down up top works and to get into settings and the lock screen works and that is it....
going to download the 900A zip and try a total reset via odin... I'll keep you updated..

Won't autorotate after debloat

Hi,
I cleaned my note and cleaned too much I guess bc it won't autorotate anymore.
Would love to find out how to fix it.
Cheers!

Sounds like you deleted Samsung Hub. Deleting that will cause auto rotate to not work. I can upload the apk for you when I get off work.

Thanks, that would be awesome!
Move this to /system/app, set permissions to rw-r-r (0644), reboot, and that should fix it. If not, it may be Odin time.
A thing on debloating. Don't delete the items, pay the few bucks for Titanium Backup Pro. You can freeze the app. The joy of that is when you want to OTA a new update, you can un-freeze all of the AT&T bloat, un root, and bingo, back to stock

There are probably more apks "missing"...if you can remember what you deleted I can upload them for you but it might just be easier to start over with a fresh flash. I'd definitely recommend freezing apps as opposed to deleting them as well but @Walter.White has a flashable debloater script if you don't want to pay for the Pro version. Just flash it in safestrap after you've reflash stock and you'll be good to go! It's pretty serious debloating though you'd probably have to install apps you do use from the play store afterwards...the list of apks/apps removed is in the OP

Put in /system/app set permissions to match the other apps and reboot.

Question OneUI crashing when trying to add widgets

Anyone else experiencing a similar issue? After Feb. update, when I long-press a blank space on the home screen to add a widget, the phone hangs and OneUI crashes, throwing me back to the home screen.
Have tried to clear OneUI app data and cache, but no help.
Any chance there's a specific package that might be relevant to the functionality? I debloated a while back, and wondering if something I removed may have botched this function...
Thanks!
Did you update the one UI from galaxy store?
If yes uninstall the update.
Got to settings, apps, search one UI click on 3 dots, uninstall update.
Either the new update has a bug or its not for s21 series
Thanks for your reply.
I didn't manually install it at any stage. In the galaxy store it just appears as 'installed' with no option to uninstall updates (nor does that option show up in the settings section of the phone).
Very unusual - any other suggestions?
EDIT: OK, so I missed the 4 dots. Apologies for that. I uninstalled the updates (no idea how they were installed), and all is well.
Many thanks

So just figured out, If you have disabled Samsung free as bloatware ONE UI launcher will crash after update.
before updating make sure Samsung Free is working.

In my case I had disabled Samsung Free through ADB. After enabling it, launcher worked fine. Double checked it by disabling Samsung free and it crashed again. So by default one cannot disable the Samsung free bloatware
