Hi there,
after the official update to 4.4.2 the batterylife of my gt-i9295 was very poor. So I rootet the device, installed cwm and flashed Darkmans XXUBMK2, installed modem and NON-HLOS over Odin afterwards.
--> no sound, no mic, no wifi
So I tried several different ROMs (CM based 4.4.4 - 4.4.2 and so on) Always the same problem (Exept wifi wich worked well with CM-based ROMs)
Then I flashed the official 4.4.2 from Samsung over Odin (lost root and CWM of course) and decided to live with the poor batterylife.
But still no sound, no mic, no wifi + very poor touch-respond.
Typing *#1234# leads to:
AP: I9295XXUCNE5
CP: I9295XXUBMK3
CSC: I9295DBTCNE1
I found several threads for different devices where a damaged bootloader was mentioned. But I think it wouldn't be a good idea to flash some Nexus or gt-i9505 software
Any suggestions? Please
Regards

I have my Mini for more than 6 months and still I find the wi-fi signal so weak compared to other phones (I've tested a lot of Nokias and other Samsung phones, all behaved better). I checked by baseband version, it's XXKPJ.
I found out that there are a lot of other baseband versions out there. Some must have improved wi-fi signal.
I have CWM and Odin at hand, but don't want to flash a new stock rom, just the baseband.
Where can I download separate baseband flash files without flashing entire ROM ?
I'm using CM 7.2 and I just want to mess with the baseband.
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my phone, it is a Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I have android 2.3.6 running, it is stock firmware. Now i don't know the original firmware that was on it, and it was flashed with a custom rom before. I reflashed stock firmware which was:
Buildnumber: gingerbread.XWJVH
android version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVO
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL 184813 [email protected] #2
I then updated via Samsung Kies, and came to this firmware:
Buildnumber: gingerbread.XWJW1
android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: I9000XXJVT
and its stock kernel (dont remember it)
I then flashed the most recent speedmod kernel for galaxy s:
kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 [email protected] #k16-11 (i used it to root my phone)
Now the problem is that the custom rom that was flashed was a 4.0 android rom. It worked, but then one time when the phone was just on (standby) it suddenly shutdown, and wouldn't boot back up. I tried reflashing the rom using the same (CWM) method as before but it still booted a black screen whenever i started it up. I then flashed another rom which did work. Eventually i went back to a stock rom and this is why:
I have a bad signal everywhere, with every modem (tried several, all for my region). I do not know exactly at which point the signal problems started in this story, but i need help fixing it. I do know that at the original firmware that was on the phone, signals were good.
With a bad signal I mean that I have zero, one or 2 bars reception, 3 bars when im at the attic of our house, and also a lot of times outside I have no service at all (at places where I should be having it).
-I already tried restoring the nv_data.bin from the .bak file.
-I already tried flashing different modems which i am sure of are for my region
-I am using a XEN csc file (im living in the netherlands)
-I already tried messing around with the band selection in service mode of the phone.
-My original IMEI is INTACT!
-My original product code is INTACT!
NOTHING WORKED!!!
I need help please, i thank the ones reading this entire story till the end! and I thank everyone for his or her response (hoping there are gonna be some)
Bump
Does nobody know the problem, since the topic has views but no replies? Can anyone help please?
it could be a hardware problem too..... !!!!! u better try different stock roms or different custom roms....... if there is still no solution then you should take your phone to the service center.
best of luck
@ zamiurratul
Yes I thought of that too, i'm having a handy friend of mine check out the antenna this evening, i'll report back on that later.

have any backups? have you tried flashing a different rom? does your provider use 850 band? if no backups try a different rom, if provider uses 850 band try
jl2 modem or jk4. if your using cm or miui rom make sure the modems you are using are made for those roms.

OK, thanks this is first step.
Downloaded yaff explorer to browse my backup.
Where do I find my modem from backed up system?
And where can I find a flashable version of the modem?
Or alternatively, how do I know if my carrier uses 850?
Or, how can I find compatible modems for my ROM (ICS team)+ carrier?

As for backup you'd have to restore the whole rom you were on previously. Either through ROM manager or in recovery.

I've spent the last few days trying to figure this out without any luck. I have GT-S5830D (Canadian Koodo version) on stock firmware TLKI4, unlocked with SpeakOut sim (which operates on Rogers network).
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: S5830DTLKI4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL568978 [email protected] #1
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DTLKI4
PDA: S5830DTLKI4
PHONE: S5830DTLKI4
CSC: S5830DTLSKI4
In this stock firmware, I have no issues at all. Everything works fine, can place calls, WIFI, GPS, data all works. If I flash a new rom to the phone, I can see the networks still show up with signal strength showing okay, but the phone will not place calls. Just says Emergency Calls Only.
I've been reading about everything I can about this phone, and I just can't figure out what the problem is. I have flashed the modem with DDKQ7 and I was able to again place calls, however with this modem firmware, the connection was very unstable and would drop frequently.
Is there an issue with directly updating the stock rom to CM7 or CM9 that would cause problems with this baseband? I was under the impression that baseband wasn't really important. Interestingly enough, I have another phone that is the same make and model and is not experiencing this problem. I feel there must be something I am missing, if anyone can shed some light on this, I would appreciate it.
Thank you.
I have a feeling that I may be the only person that has experienced this issue. Continuing to search the internet for other answers, I've discovered that the baseband is the cause of this issue, but I still don't quite understands how it relates. My other phone is on the stock firmware (TLKI4) and is running CM7 without issue, on the same network even.
Do the APN settings have effect on voice calls too? Or is it strictly for data?
Also, I read a post on here that sounded like there was a limit to how many times you can perform a complete flash with Odin? Is that true? I'd love to keep experimenting, but each time to roll back the stock firmware, I need to use Odin and I'm hesitant due to the thought that will eventually brick the phone.
Thanks again.
tried to flash cm7 again??
Yes. I have installed cm-7.2.0-cooper.zip as well as some of the nightly's and still only get emergency calls only. I have another phone, exactly the same setup, and it works without issue. I even tryed GalaxyICS-latest and the same problem.
Now I did install a different modem firmware, and performed the upgrade and I don't have the issue anymore, however I have other issues, dropped service, 3g doesn't work properly, wifi and mobile data won't switch, gps is has extremely long lock time if it locks at all.
Does anyone here have the D version of this phone from Koodo? Which modem firmwares are you using? Anyone specifically using the phone on SpeakOut? Any hints would be helpful because I'm completely at a loss, will just have to keep it stock until I can figure it out.
I had the same problem as you, don't worry though because there is a solution. The Koodo Samsung Galaxy Ace only receives a signal when using the original Koodo baseband. (Basebands have to do with wireless signal, sometimes referred to as modems.) The good thing for you is that you can use any ROM or firmware you like, as long as after installing it you flash the original Koodo baseband (S5830DTLKI4) using Odin. I found a download link for the baseband in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381595
After downloading, (I'm assuming you know how to use Odin, if not you can find a guide easily) open Odin, and in the "Phone" section browse to the file and select it. (You will have to extract the ZIP) Then press start and wait until it is finished downloading and that should do the trick. If you need any more help post back because I know what a pain it is to try and get this particular phone rooted and install a custom ROM.
ALSO MAKE SURE TO BACKUP IN CLOCKWORK MANAGER BEFORE FLASHING THIS
cause you never know what can happen.
If I flash CM7, it still shows my baseband being the same. It doesn't appear to have been changed. So what I need to do is flash CM7 and then just reflash the baseband with Odin and it should work? Even though the baseband shows the same? I'll give it a shot and let you know how it works out, but does anyone know why this would be required, to have to reflash the baseband even though it was never changed?
Is your current baseband S5830DTLKI4? Because in my experience that's the only way I could get service unless I was on the Koodo stock ROM.

Yes, that is the firmware that I'm on. That firmware was installed with the stock rom that the phone came with and I have not changed it. Although I have changed it before, it fixed the issue with getting 'emergency calls only' in CM7 but the service was so flaky it wasn't worth keeping as a solution. If I leave the firmware from stock DTLKI4 and flash CM7 over it, I end up getting stuck with emergency calls only problem.
Is the current official CM7 not compatible with DTLKI4 firmware? Could that be the problem I'm having? I'm still really confused why this isn't working, but I will try to install CM7 again, and then use Odin to flash the DTLKI4 on top to see if the install is causing any issue with it. It doesn't really make sense.
Alright, interestingly enough, I just flashed it again and all is working as expected. I've flashed this phone about 10 times, using the same files and it would not work.
This time however, what I did differently is not root the phone. I've been using the universal_gb_root_v20.zip to root the phone previously, but I found that rooting before installing CM is waste of time as root is enabled in the CM7 rom already.
Also, when I flashed the stock rom with Odin, it usually used selected the KDO CSC automatically, last time I flashed it came up with TLS CSC and had the Telus branding. I don't know if that made any difference. All I know is that it worked and I am able to make calls and use data without any problems.
Thank you Dynamic_Apple, although your recommendation was not required, it did give me the motivation to try again and that was enough to get it working. I've never had so much difficulty modding a phone in my life, especially a model that I have messed with before.
Glad I was able to help, I had just as much trouble getting mine modded too, it makes me jealous of all the generic Galaxy Ace owners, but it's good to know that you can actually get past Koodo's sneaky limitations.
Hey guys,
Just updated my i9000 to android 4.2.2 c-rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925195
The rom is great, everything is working fine but i can't make calls?
when try to call it says Airplane mode is on. Already tried restrarting, on and off, on and off airplane toggle.
Could you guys suggest alternative modems, or any new similar ROMs?
anybody else having the same problem here?
Check your baseband modem. You may have to flash a new modem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31131934
Did you already try re flashing the Rom?
Sent from my GT-I9000
Yes, I have re-flashed three times now, also i tried the slim-bean 4.2.2 build v3, same airplane mode problem, everytime i try to make calls it asks to switch off airplane mode.
Also i upgraded directly form 2.3.6 to 4.2.2? is the problem because of this?
Which among these should I flash:
DDJP6
DDJV4
DDJV5
or the newer one : DDJV7 given in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273164
is it ok to flash the older modem to 4.2.2?
Yes flashing directly from GB to JB causes some unexpected problems sometimes.
Check your IMEI if still ok.
Baseband modem depends on the country you live in.
You can try DXJV9, it an all around modem.

my imei was intact so I flashed the ddjv5 modem and everything is back to normal.

wifi problem - just reflash kernel and wifi will work ..
for baseband - if you can call that is not poblem with "unknown baseband", i have unknown baseband and everything work good
I'm not familiar with the ROM you flashed, but most likely what you experience is due to incompatible baseband and RIL. When you flash a ROM the baseband remains the same, so you are still on an old GB baseband, but your RIL is made for ICS. Flash a v30 baseband and things should work again. See the baseband overview thread here.
