If you're trying to restore a 4.2.2 backup to a 4.4.2 kit Kat os that might be the issue. There's apps, and software that aren't compatible with one another on the two different software versions

Backing up and restoring..

Hi guys, just wanna ask, if I fully backup my ROM, is my app being backup too?
Can someone guide me how to backup everything from cm7, including my app, app data, so that I can restore at a later point?
And also, if I'm returning to stock using nvflash, do I need to revert the ext4 to ext3? If so, how!
Thanks

Use recovery to back up.. easiest and safest.. it will create an image of your rom on the SD card..
So if i use cwm to do a backup of my current rom that basically just takes a snap shot of my stock rom? So if anything goes wrong when i am flashing a custom rom I can just restore my previous backup and all will be working again? (as long as i haven't caused any lasting damage)
Many thanks

Including all... Apps, settings etc. CWM saves the entire content of system, data, boot and cache partitions.
You can even make a specific restore in advanced restore menu of CWM you can restore only data for example..(data is where all user apps with their settings are stored)
A good rising app is AppExtractor (see in market) than can use CWM backup files to restore apps, sms, etc... But this time from within the launched system, not from CWM recovery.
Titanium is a must too.
Hmm, so do I complete backup using cwm and also using titanium backup? Or I just need to backup using cwm only?
Or.. how bout' telling me the step to backup my whole cm7, plus guide to restore it back? This is my first time backing up.. :/

I have both: one Nandroid using CWM, to be able to restore the entire system if needded or if I want to try another ROM and come back later, plus a Titanium to have only app backups.
There is no howto to write, they are all already written, and using those two apps is really very simple no need to explain. Just menus to explore. Which steps ? Have you ever looked at CWM menu? it's all written : Backup restore etc... just select.
Try it by yourself it's the best way. You can't harm anything.
Try AppExtractor once you've made your backup you will see its possibilities, can nearly replace Titanium.

Oh ok, thanks!
And.. if I backup cm7 ROM, I have to be at cm7 in order to restore that back up? Or I can just restore the back up with other ROM?
P.s. What about the ext4 thingy? Do I have to go back TO 3 if I going to flash my phone to stock using nvflash?
Thanks a million man!!!

What are you talking about?
Titanium restores APPS... doesn't have anything to do with ROM version...
CWM restores the entire ROM. And for your info, CWM isn't part of any ROM it is a software installed in a different partition called /recovery. When you are in CWM you are not in a ROM you are in ... CWM.
Ext4 and Ext3 are file systems try Wikipedia, too long to explain... If you restore a ROM with CWM 5.0.2 version you don't have to bother about that as CWM reformat partitions according to what is specified in backup files.
Okay! Now I understand.. Haha

Coming from GB to ICS, it's probably best to download your apps again or install apps only if you have a Titanium Backup.

Using Titanium Backup is not recommended...might cause problems in ROM and ud have to reflash. Install all apps again its the best way.

It's probably a NAND backup you did. This backup contains images of all the partitions of your old ROM. So if you restore, it will restore GB as it was when you did the backup. To restore only your apps you should have used an app like Titanium Backup.
Edit : If you really want to restore you apps you can still restore GB from your Backup, install Titanium Backup, make a backup of your apps and flash again We Want ICS in which you will then be able to restore your apps (Edit 2 : you should use compro01's method, it's faster)
2 options
1. redownload your apps - Easiest way is once you have the play store functioning on the device, just go to https://play.google.com/apps, log in, and wail on the install buttons.
2. if you don't want to do that (e.g. excessive drain on transfer cap and no wifi available) or can't for some reason (e.g. app was removed from the store, but you still want it, like the tricorder (CBS are assholes)), open up the backup folder (/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/[nameofbackup]. This is most easily accomplished on a computer rather than on the device) and open the data.[filesystem].tar file. All the apks for the installed apps are in the apps folder. system apps are in same folder in the system.[filesystem].tar file, but you're probably not interested in anything in there.
Just copy out the apks you're needing, and install away. You may need to turn on "install from unknown sources" under the development options.
Note that neither of these methods will preserve your settings from your apps nor any of their other data (saved games, passwords, etc.). if you have stuff you need for some reason, you'd need to go through the above mentioned 3rd option of backing up your current WWICS install, then restoring your previous ROM, backing up all your relevant apps with Ti or another app, restoring your backup of the WWICS ROM, and using Ti/whatever to restore the backed up apps, all whilst hoping that restoring apps from different bases doesn't break things too horribly.
I prefer titanium backup because my app data will also be backup'd

Check to see what filters are in use, if any. If you set a filter to show only uninstalled apps you should see your backups.
Ahh.... I'll have a look next time I flash a new rom

You must be very carefull when using titanium backup and changing roms, since you are coming from GB to ICS thats a completly new and different version of OS and may have problems when restoring too many apps, I suggest that you restore backups one by one app, so if you get some Fc's you can see which app is to blame, and definitly do not restore any settings or system apps

I use Titanium Backup
I use My Backup and it is great. I have found no problems restoring all my apps between different roms.
And if you need to you can either restore the app or app and data

I know bud. I use Mybackup as well but I forgot to use it while upgrading and thought there would be some other way of doing it

[Q] Titanium Backup won't Restore Now (UPDATED - PLEASE HELP)

I have a rooted HTC One with:
Android Revolution HD 20.2 by mike1986
Version 4.3
HTC Sense 5.0
Kernel: 3.4.10-geee1312
Build #: 3.09.401.1
I resolved my issue with not being able to backup. I found the legacy folder. I've since reflashed my ROM.
However, now my "restore" is stuck at 0%. It's been like this for 10 minutes. Whats going on?
NEW ISSUE: Now I can't restore. I've fixed my backup and reflashed my ROM. Now my apps won't restore back... Please help!
Same issues. Have no resolution from developer. Hate the app and it's support and don't use it anymore. Anytime I restored settings it soft bricked my phone. I use Helium now and certainly won't recommend TiBu. Glad I had 3 backups with 3 apps and put them all to the test.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Did you guys backupped also the system app?
If yes it's this the problem.
Titanium working fine here, never had an issue
Backed up everything in batch. Restored using ever possible combination of the app and data or just getting a new app and restoring data. Soft brick every time by trying to get back anything attempted. My 2 other apps restored perfectly every single time. Developer ignored me-certainly won't recommend.

It's normal if you're trying to restore a system app.
And the batch will backup all...
Is this the prob
It's advised to backup and restore only the data of the system app

Yes, did just the data on the restore as well as app+data - had the same results with restoring apps that weren't system related as well. Just a pain that I don't have to deal with, with other backup applications. TiBu has just not been great for me at all.

When it's at 6% or when it reboots, can you identify which app is being restored?

I downloaded xposed framework on my LG G2 vs980 ioroot 21 twrp recovery & was making status bar tweaks mostly & after rebooting pushing my home button would pop up systemui has stoped? Looking on titanium backup the home apk was gone (not the launcher the system apk!) With no backup? I'm a noob but would never uninstall that & had all my apps backed up but it was gone? I'm retarded & couldn't recover my phone & had to hard factory reset my phone. After reset systemui still crashes & the LG wizard crashes at syncing contacts? I've tried going back to stock firmware but again I'm a noob & can't figure it out. Will the kitkat update fix this? I can't really wait for Verizon to get with the program can anybody help me via teamviewer? I'm lost without my phone & just plain going nuts jumping through hoops getting to apps. Thank you for reading any help is appreciated

Im assuming you were just on stock? If you install a recovery, then just make a nandroid in case this happens.
As long as you didn't have a recovery installed, the reset should have fixed it I would think. Use the lg flash tool and the 11a tot tile and that should set you back to out of the box new.
Using the 24a leak should also work.

If the lg flash tool is giving you issues, have you downloaded the updated united drivers?
Have a second computer you can try? Sometimes the computers operating system makes it fail

Yeah stock rom twrp recovery with a nandroid backup couldn't recover I have no idea why? All the apks xposed erased were erased on titanium with no backup & I had every system app backed up I even have every system app backed up with my backup pro & it fails to install them. Everything is ready to go on the LG flashtool but a milky way error pops up upon trying to install? Install the kitkat aosp nightly rom says no command & after factory reset my status is still rooted even if I'm not.
