Stock.
Wrong forum whine for +10chars.
Thanks captain useful... I put a request for an app in the nexus development section sorry... maybe a mod would redirect me but for some guy who is as clueless as I am to come on here and tell me I'm whining when in reality he doesn't have a fix for it or even advice...
Its funny how only mods/devs are useful and the rest (not all, had some great advice from here) are just snarky users who pounce on a mispost... go back to flaming on youtube.

So again I ask is there an app or a mod that modifies an existing tether app to allow wifi tethering via usb instead of 3g/edge... OR can a mod please direct me to where I should be posting... That way I won't have to deal with flamers... Thank you xda

The phone tethers over wifi via USB stock. Just try it, it works.
really... Wow well il try that at home... Thanks in advance... Every android user is allowed one stupid question

Me thinks you owe someone an apology.
and save YOUR snarky comments for youtube...
you come into a dev forum and ask for some one to spoon feed you an answers to newbie questions, an excusable offense, but the attitude you complained someone else had, is the one you felt the need to display.
Hypocrites suck, especially ones asking for help, then cop attitude because they are too dumb to read the post that helps them.
Especially when the answer was in the 2nd post, which you ignored.
Stock isn't an answer... And the solution still hasn't been found... All bs aside is there something I'm not getting... I tether via usb with the stock tethering and on the comp side it shows up as ethernet 2... now in the network settings it won't connect to my "ethernet" is there something else I over looked or are their manual settings that need to be input.?

Thanks for the useless, unhelpful comment Tbirdguy... Seriously how much attitude are we talking here... I asked a pretty basic question as the stock tether won't work for me which is actually a big deal as I need internet for my work... He didn't answer my question and he told me off for whining... So I gave him a piece of my mind and when Pwig helped out I admitted my stupidity and I admit I probably posted in the wrong forum but hey at least I'm getting ppls thoughts on it negative our positive... Il gladly buy whoever can help solve this one a beer, granted you have a paypal account

Evilkorn is there a settings/setup on the pc side of things? I understand how it works it just won't connect... Do you know of any issues with cm6 and older g5 macs... God they sure have a lot of problems! Thanks in advance.

I'll entertain this even if it's in the wrong forum.
It'd be nice to be able to share wifi in the absence of 3g. One perfect situation is in hotels where only one computer has assess to the pay-for-access wifi internet.
1) You can't share WiFi over WiFi. You can, though, share WiFi using USB.
2) COMPLETELY STOCK PHONE SHARES WHATEVER INTERNET CONNECTION IT HAS - WIFI OR 3G - USING USB TETHERING. IT CREATES VIRTUAL ETHERNET ADAPTER ON USB. SOME COMPUTERS WILL NEED DRIVER FOR THIS. SOME COMPUTERS WILL NEED RESTART TO ACTIVATE THE WORKING PHONE CONNECTION AS PRIMARY. SOME COMPUTERS MIGHT REQUIRE DISABLING OTHER, NON-WORKING CONNECTIONS.
3) I hope the caps were big enough to end this thread that shouldn't have begun (or at least should have begun in Q&A section with "I tried to tether my WiFi through USB, it doesn't work for some reason, what am I doing wrong")...
What the guy wants, what i presume, is not the tethering he says, because that is stock.
But if you are picking up a Wifi Signal with your Nexus One! and you want to share that connection through USB on your laptop/pc. This means your phone acts as the wireless network card for your pc/laptop
Correct me if this already is possible, but as far as i know, this wasn't possible till 3 months ago!
1. I know that, that's mobile hotspot...
2. Stock tether is not supported on osx as it said in the help under tether/hotspot settings.
3. I know that my post wasn't in the right section as I stated before... and to be honest I don't really care
4. I'm sick of these ppl treating me like a noob when I've probably owned more android phones then half these cats, only reason I'm a noob on xda is because I've never had a problem with android that a few searches on xda/androidspin couldn't fix..

I'm back to my original question... Is there an app besides pdanet that allows usb tethering... *sigh* you know what forget it guys... any other day I'd be down for this and usually droid does but today droid didn't which means money in apples pocket... Thank you to the ones that helped and thank you to the ones that didn't, they did their best

I have cm6 and I just tried it and it works like other posters says, USB tether shares whatever interwebs connection you have over a USB based rndis adapter. Your mac needs an rndis driver to make use of it, I thought newer versions of macos had this included. you may need to do some googling to find it, I cant help you as I know little about macs.
Oh I have no doubt that everything in cm6 works very well its something on the mac right after it finds it as a ethernet port it gets weird. A rndis driver you say... I can work with that... Thank you even if it doesn't work!
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
On another note... Isn't cm6 f'n awesome... It literally cured my rom flashing habit! After cm6 I just check out news and apps... As far as I'm concerned my phone does everything I want... EXCEPT USB TETHER haha... Ahhh! My phone performs miracles and it can't tether lol... That's why I lost my hair on this one because I don't mind if I get stuck trying to trick out my phone (goodies, oc, aesthetics) but If I get stuck on something that can be very useful (won't say need cuz 3 months ago id say your dreaming) then I lose it lol... Anyways I'm gonna go check it out!

OP, I did answer your question. You asked for a rom or an app that could do it, I said stock rom. That it doesn't work with your mac, that's a seperate issue, but stock rom can tether wifi over usb.
Plus I didn't mean you whined, but I needed some extra chars to be able to post so I put up a whine about you posting in the wrong forum.
You might want to look at your posts, they don't show a great attitude. If you want help you shouldn't say things like you don't care about posting in the wrong forum. I, and probably more people here, don't like to help someone that doesn't give a crap about following some basic forum rules and starts flaming people who actually anwer his question.
Good luck finding a solution.
Hi, quick question and topic.
I've overcame a ton of comments primarily from last years release of the Samsung G730A S III Mini model claiming root to no root outcomes.
Is the community for devs still trying to open a port or a guide for a successful G730A root?
I ask this as I see that we were the only form of outcasted Mini users.
If that be said, what are the chances that KitKat could make for an easier root process?
Also, anyone know if a kdz flash is possible for this device?
I ask this after my first Android :sly: Thrill 4G was one of the outcasted phone that finally got a root with a kdz flash, the Thrill forum lost all support and anyone interested in new roms had to stay on a EU dedicated kdz that was promised a developer and rom set.
Basically stating that all users were stuck on an EU Baseband with 3G and sometimes 4G LTE if the rom provided even that.

Bumping!
I'm not gonna watch a phone die out because people won't go out of their way to help the G730A community!
There's someone hiding in the dark and not giving answers.
Now we just sit here and watch others gloat and boast about their root? Whenever someone even mentions G730A in a thread the thread just dies out of communication.

Yeah... like seriously! I got the phone when it came out in sept 2013 and been waiting ever since. I voided my warranty by letting an idiot friend drop my phone, with physical damage to the bezel of the phone, I can now root it and do whatever I want. I'm still waiting. But to be honest, I'd rather have the s4 for the bigger screen. But until then I am waiting for kitkat.
Info only, but I searched, and didn't come up with anything. I took it upon myself to run the CF AutoRoot for the L720TVPUBNAF for the Tri-Band Sprint SPH-L720T.
I can report it works. If I missed a thread, I apologize! Hopefully this catches some Google hits for the masses.
But wanted to share the knowledge in an easy to find place. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I know some will say it is already posted and it is, but it is hard to find due to you having the T version.
Its been confirmed about 2 or 3 times. Thanks for sharing though.

Greetings Everyone,
I posted this over in the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 threads. The original thread I'm speaking of can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758406
As I am sure many of you are aware Verizon Wireless and AT&T users have yet to receive root. I have created a petition asking for an unlocked bootloader that upon reaching its signature goal will be sent out to VZW/ATT as well as Samsung Mobile. Petitioning has worked for a number of devices in the past such as the HTC Rezound. If you would all please take a minute or less of your time to SIGN&SHARE this petition it would help all of us out tremendously. Below I have pasted the OP from my original thread.
Petition link is at the bottom of this post.
There was some discussion by Russ77 about starting a petition over in the bounty thread, so I went ahead and made one.
You may think this is a long shot or even a foolish attempt, but the bottom line is it could work. The likeliness of this working goes up with every signature. If you are reading this- SIGN! If this really picks up we may be able to change Verizon's policy all together! It takes maybe 3 seconds to sign so lets get this thing moving!
How Can You Help?
1. Sign the petition
2. Get Social- tweet it, facebook it, anything to spread awareness
3. Share this on other forums and websites
Remember, signing this is great but signing and sharing is even better.
Current Goal: 5,000

Dude I'm not sure whether I should laugh or cry while reading this. Let me explain to you what you're asking, you are asking these companies to allow you the chance to break their device, I'm I right? That's like asking the owner of a house to let you in so that you can rob them, I can't believe XDA is being reduced to this level. Here is a tip, why not find another carrier that gives you the freedom to root until devs can figure something out. Over here we're still trying to figure out how to prevent Knox from tripping once rooted. I'm not sure petitioning mobile companies is the way to go.

Clearly you haven't been around the forums long enough? Hence, your logic makes no sense either. If you want more support for our devices, unlocking it for other variants would attract more development and hopefully contribute to solving tripping knox. So, don't try to discourage a movement that's been done on other devices which BTW was sometimes successful. It's a possible cause.
Thanks for the write op!

Based on my limited knowledge of American carriers, this has been attempted before and both VZW and AT&T have little care for such things.
Is there any *recent* example of success?
I remember very clearly that one of those companies stayed that they would not allow unlocking bootloaders, period.
Also I really really doubt you can move Samsung with a petition, they just don't give a crap about them.
Sorry but you might be wasting your time

It's easier to carry such view point, but of course there are those among us who are looking for quick fix while the rest are working diligently in finding a solution, if you believe that taking a petition to these company will be a positive way then by all means go for it, but remember we're talking about companies that don't give a sh*t about what customers think when it comes to granting boot loader access.
Sigh....another petition thread? This will never happen, so don't bother wasting your time. Don't bother wasting more time than you already have. It will not happen. Period.

We buy their devices to do with as we please...period if the bootloader is unlocked warranty void end of story... what's so funny and hard to understand.people who know the risks also know the fix.

Nope, there isn't anyone at the moment. They have all decided it was a futile effort and chosen to stick with 5.0.2.

Nope, never again...everyone in the world has given up. There will never be root again.
All kidding aside, I have seen this same question across many devices...no one knows since it is done offsite by people or teams.
If anyone mentions here they are working on it they are either hounded, trolled or called liars...so why should they post?
If people were capable of reading, maybe developers would use the Developers ONLY section...but alas like tiny children in the back seat on a long drive they cannot stop themselves from the constant "Are we there yet" posts in the Developers ONLY section.
Often root comes from a Chinese company not even on XDA..someone discovers it and posts it.
When root is found it will be posted.
