I am getting about 12-14 mbps download speed... but I have noticed (more so recently) that I am having issues with Youtube buffering randomly throughout the video. Its really annoying, any ideas?
Same here I've just gotten used to it I've even been with 30 mbps down and still had to buffer

wifi? carrier data? try clearing youtube cache and rebooting. lots of service providers like to throttle youtube data.

I pay $65 a month. I've never been with cricket before (always sprint ). If I download apps & music a lot, will I be charged more ?
EDIT : Sorry about this post. I just read crickets data cap is 1 or 5GB per month. Which is it?

I guess for smart phones it's 1Gb then you are throttled down and if you have the mobile broadband card it's 5Gb.
You should be fine on the bandwidth unless you are tethering.

Okay, since it is a 1GB cap then tethering for online games isn't the best choice I'll just stick to mobile internet and read up on the source codes. TY for the answer.

LMAO! Yeah don't think about tethering to your 360 to play Black Ops.
One match game would skyrocket over the 1GB cap.

How'd you know I was going to use it for COD? Lol you were right though BC I was going to do it but nvm.

It was a good guess since lots of online gamers are into Black Ops.
anyway, I found a useful article that shows how to keep track of data in order to avoid extra fee charges or throttling.
http://thetechjournal.com/electroni...how-much-data-you-use-on-your-cellphone.xhtml
It would take 33mb of usage per day in a month to reach 990mb (before the 1GB cap).
Tested how much data I use when playing mmorpg and its 40mb per day

Games don't use that much data since they are just sending text back and forth. It's not like they are sending graphics or videos through the connection. You would really need to worry about lag though. Latency is an issue with online games and wireless connections add ton of it. Remember you are sending a signal from your computer to the phone and the phone sends it to the nearest antenna which could be miles away. Then it goes from the antenna to its local server then to a few more servers before it reaches the game server. Then it has to come all the way back and do it all in milliseconds. So check your ping timed and if they are over 200 then you might not be able to game

I use my tethering to play Halo: Reach matchmaking, and even when throttled, there's no lag. Uses an average of .75MB/minute while playing. I usually only see 5MB of usage/match.

That isn't bad at all.
I bought Watchdog3G Pro for like three bucks and its a good app but it sucks down a lot of battery juice.
I browsed a few websites for like 7 minutes and watched a 3 minute youtube video. Watchdog reported that I used 26mb during these sessions.
My phone has always read "average" 4G speeds, around 7-8MB down and 5 up. I was accessing a server 150 miles or so away from where I live. They just added a server about 40 miles away, raising my avg to 12-15MB, then just released an update to the app today with "4G" fixes....and holy crap.. Goes to show how skewed these numbers can be..
Your speeds are fast man. These are my results.
Edit* for some reason the pic is all blurry but I get about 18 mbps download and 16 mbps upload

I don't even get that :-S I might be.lucky to get even 8 on speedtest, and generally get 4 no matter what server I use.
I should add that I'm in Denver and place or time if day hardly has an effect.

And more realistically I get 6mbps in real life situations 80% of the time. My revo's orientation sensor has gone haywire so they're gonna switch it out, so we'll see what's up. I also don't exactly use my unlimited plan lightly -_-

I have noticed, different cities with 4G have different results. I was in Chicago recently, at O'Hare airport, and I ran a speed test and got amazing results. upwards of 15 Mbps. When I got home to St. Louis, I ran the test again, using the same server (San Antonio) and my speeds dropped to 2.4 to 6 mbps. So I do think the location will make a difference. Even though Verizon says that shouldn't be.
Looks like San Jose likes me best. 36.7 down, 18 up.
Dallas, tx...just got 32 down

Interesting. I was in Santa Clara a couple months ago and never saw speeds that high. You must live right under a tower, lol.
Awesome speeds though. Would be interesting to hear what part of San Jose so I can take a drive by and do a test.

This is an ongoing gripe of mine. I'm wondering if it's just me or if other people have this problem. When I'm on 4g it intermittently turns off data for a few seconds. The 4g icon goes away and comes back a few seconds later interrupting my connection. Only happens on 4g. If I set the mobile network to just 2g or 3g I don't have this problem. I've tried lots of different modems. So I'm wondering if it's an Optus thing or an issue with my phone? ?

probably poor coverage of 4G network
Why 4G when 3G is enough for watching video etc etc?
And it drain more battery also

I'm literally right next to a big city. Its not a coverage thing. If I have a 4g phone why not use it. I get about 24 hours of battery life from it so that's not an issue

Anybody use their AT&T N3 to torrent files? If so how are the speeds?
On the T-Mobile Note 3 either on mobile data or wifi, speeds seemed to be throttled.
No such issues on Note 2 or any prior android device.
Just wanted to know if it was an issue with the Note 3 itself or network issue.
same issue on att N3
Our favorite GSM carrier probably altered this somehow, because they don't want large files downloaded over their precious network.
I use t torrent & download speeds seem normal to me. I get 4-5MBs over wifi at my house

I fixed it!
Ok so I had this issue. Now I don't.and it IS knox So here's a shoot-from-the-hip not very descriptive solution. Go to settings. More. App manager. All. And shut off anything that says "vpn" , "knox", or "lookout security"
Then download a torrent. Your speeds should jump from 50kbps to 4-5 mbps.
So I recently upgraded my internet speed too 300 mbps (I now work for time Warner so my services are free), now my laptop can pull the full 300 but my phone maxed out at 40ish.
Is that the top speed of WiFi or is speedtest's app whack?

I get 65 with a dual band n router, I don't think you'll ever see anything above 65 with an n or ac router.
You should be able to pull higher than 65 thru the Wi-Fi on the phone. I can almost swear that I remember reading somewhere that this phone has a dual MiMo WiFi chip, which should allow for speeds up to 300.
You are testing your laptop speed via WiFi, right? Not hardwired?

there seems to be some correlation to speed and internet security type,
my results are.
WPA2 tkip 54mps
WPA2 AES 54mps
WPA2 AES&TKIP 65mps
No security 135mps

The fastest I've seen with my M7 was 115mbps, when I was paying for the faster service thru Comcast. This was on a 5ghz ac channel.
The fastest I've seen with my M8 so far has been 61mbps, but that's because I'm only paying for 50mbps right now.
