Hi there. We have a problem with a galaxy mini plus. Its stuck in a boot-loop and after a long time of trying we believe the internal /data is fried/not working in a hardware matter of speaking. So we would like to ask if theres anyway to make the system boot and directly mount sd-ext as our data, as to not use /data at all to bypass the problem. Thanks in advance
-saruboy
We've tried that of course. As I said I believe the internal /data partition has been HARDWAREly corrupted, and no reflashing is gonna fix that. Thats why im kindly asking anyone for a script that would during boot mount sd-ext partition instead of the real /data without using the real /data at all. Thanks.

edit: the post that was deleted was suggesting me to flash stock with odin just so you know what i was answering.

Here also interested. I was given this phone and it's showing similar symptoms, though it can actually wipe/format the data partition, but still bootloops after wiping/formatting.
Gonna make further tests on it.

Yep,I'm on the same page. From I know is that it's related to bad partition.Don't know how bad this is becuz even though I get the error it still clears dalvik. If it is related to bad partition only thing I can think of is that once I ran OCLF on a custom rom( rfs to ext2 was the plan ) and tried to set the system partition to 1gb(instead of 800 or so which is standard) and so upon reboot it went into bootloop. That error can be found on google as well,it's quite common. I didn't bother fixing it cuz my cappy runs well but if someone tells me this would be the begining of a disaster I will.
I didn't think it would be a problem, just wasn't sure. Thank you for the reply

I got it done finally, no more error.
1st I formated the internal sd on the pc to fat_32 (15 min process)and well the error was still there but after flashing Mosaic V (dark core 2.7.3 kernel) it's finally gone.
Not sure if the format helped or not but I did it since it was recommended.
Edit: decided to flash talon and now I'm back to error land. Conclusion: darc core kernel has a newer vs. of CWM which seems to erase that error.Anyways it's meaningless so I'll just have to live with it. Go with cwm 3.0.2.8 of darc core (vs 3.0.0.5 of talon) and u'll be error free
I finally decide to have a partion on my 8GB SD other than FAT32. So i used the FuFu Minimod to split my SD. First to Ext2 then to Ext3 and then to Ext4.
It all went fine. I have moved some basic apps like Facebook and Igo to the Ext4 partion.
The weird thing that drove me to create this thread is the fact that my phone became a bit slow... unresponsive... and just because the Ext4 with basic apps on it?
Did i miss something or this is normal?
Appreciate all feedbacks.

Try wipe both Cache and Dalvik-Cache
Thanks... but is not the case... and yes i already did that before creating the thead.
Tks
Well then, manually move the app to the sdcard, then move back to the phone.
It should move into the ext4 partition.
They are all in ext4...

I know it is inside ext4. Please try to move to the sdcard and back to the phone again.
I did face this b4
I have done that before you mention... and it looks like its a bit more stable.
One doubt... i notice that all sd-ext\app files are alson in data\app.
Why is that?
Sent from my Milestone using xda premium
Why
Is ext4 faster or what ?
Im kinda noob on this android and stuff things, so i donno.
I can put my apps on SDcard without formatting to ext2, 3 or 4.
Well, now after billions of testing, formating, reflashing... all looks pretty nice now.
@ivanotera: moving apps to sdcard is not the same as moving apps to a second partition where this second partition is journaled - case of ext4.
It means that when you boot your phone, this partition is ready to use and does not need to be "prepared" as the usual fat32 - thats why we see the message after boot up that sd card is being prepared (in fact the OS is checking if the partion is corrupted or not.
Also when moving apps directly to sd card like you are doing, is not good as phone becomes slow, widgets, shortcuts dissapear while booting phone and while phone is connected to pc via usb with sd mounted for access.
With ext4 (using ext4.ko module) OS will think that this second partition is part of the internal storage and all of the above mentioned will not be a problem anymore and you will not get that anoying message that you have not enough space just because you added a couple apps.
Hope this can clarify some important things.

Yeah, got it.
But another question, is ext4 "viewable" by windows ?
Because i have a 32gb card, so i use it as a "pen drive", have some apps so when i format a pc, not at home, i have some apps already, and dont have to download it.
Or in the case of creating a ext4, i partition the sdcard, so i have the "apps" partition and the "windows" partition ?
So I have had this problem for a long long time....searched Google endlessly for the solution but in vain....
The thing is none of the a2sd scripts are working on any roms I flash...
I have tried s2e,link2sd,dta2sd,amarullz sd2ext....
And for your info I have a class 4 4gig card with 1gb ext3 partition...
So now lets see the problems I have...
1.S2E
Every thing is fine for a week or so after installing it...then suddenly I get reboot when installing a new app..after reboot "voila" none of my apps are accessible even though they are present in extra partition ...
2.Link2sd
Everything is fine say for around 15days after installing it...then the system suddenly becomes "read only" and not able to link any app or dalvik cache to SD ext..
3.Amarullz script ...
After few hours it messed up my su app and was not able to use any root apps...
4.Dt a2sd..
Same problem as s2e..good for few days and then suddenly starts rebooting and not able to install any apps...
Guys I use mostly cm mods..had prob with all of them ..
Also used it with emnon...
Please guys help me on this...
guys please help me on this....please anyone give me a solution...or any other script that works....
Do you really think this a right place to post your question??
Mind you to understand: your post belong to general thread.
And for the sake of your problem, i don't think you did your homework properly cause if you did, you would have find your answer on the first page of search on the xda forums.

If I were you, I would re-format the card back to 100% FAT32, then use rom manager to create an ext4 partition, then try s2e again. It's the easiest, most reliable way imo, as I suspect it might be the ext3 format that's giving you problems

Ok but if I reformat it to ext4....and flash a new rom(by wiping data) then cwm will again turn the partition into ext3 while formatting the SD card...right?
And rom manager doesn't support our device ...

CWM won't repartition your sd card by flashing or restoring a rom. CWM will format /system part on nand before flash or restore, but your ext should just be restored upon a nandroid restore and untouched upon nandroid restore. AFAIK anyways.
Rom mgr wont work to flash roms, but is ok for partitioning and a couple other things

will give it a try then...
On all the phones that I have rooted in the past I have had a SD card that I could keep files I wanted to retain or backup everytime I wiped/flashed a new ROM. How does that work on the HTC One which has no SD card capabilities? Is there a certain folder that recovery avoid flashing?
Thank you in advance for all your support!
Does no one know the answer to this question? Or did I post this in the wrong section? (I am really sorry if I did)
Short answer is yes, you can continue to use the same wipe commands in recovery as you would with actual physical removable SD card media.
Properly-written recoveries know not to actually format /data but rather erase all the files *except* /data/media (which is the new location for things that traditionally went on an SD card)
I just learned this today- if I'm way off, I'm sure someone will correct me..

Cool, thank you for the reply, so /data is completely untouched. That's good to know. So I could just make a /data/backup /data/roms etc...
Um, that's not quite right, I believe the only part of the /data partition that is treated like an SD card is the part *below* /data/media. Ie, you could make something like /data/media/myfolder and it will be preserved even if you "wipe userdata" in recovery. The paths you described would not be preserved because they are outside /data/media.

Ran into some road blocks with CM Nightlies. I install the new one everyday if they have one for download.
I downloaded todays version, rebooted into recovery to install. Now my phone is telling me there is no SD card to mount. Okay, whatever, I go to reboot my phone and now I have an encryption password to access the files on there. I have never set one. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this?
Boot back into recovery and keep trying to remount sdcard

Still no dice. It just keeps telling me it count mount the SD card... Should I try flashing TWRP or another recovery?
So I was able to mount an external SD card and install the update. However, the phone is still encrypted. I never encrypted my phone so I don't even know how to go about getting around this. Does anyone have any ideas?
This phone was working just fine on the Nightlies until this...
Try flashing to a Stock ROM and then going back to Cyanogenmod

Found a fix. Apparently this is a somewhat common problem.
I went to Mounts and Storage on Clockworkmod, then format /data and /data/media (/sdcard). From there I installed the latest Nightlies and Gapps. Lost everything on my phone, but luckily all the important stuff is shared with my cloud services. Thanks for the help man!
@BD619 close this thread please? Problem solved
