My G flex ear speaker stopped working, I replaced it with a new one and it still doesnt work. Could someone please help!!! I'm not an At&t customer, phone has no warranty. Everything else works perfectly fine with the phone. I have to turn on speaker phone when making or receiving calls to hear anything. The loud speaker works perfectly. Im on 4.4.2 stock, rooted. Thanks.

So earlier today I was trying to make a call to my gf and I didnt think the call was going through. She said she could hear me just fine. So I did a couple baterry pulls and still a no go. I haven't dropped it or gotten any moisture on my bionic or anything like that. I have no idea what's wrong? How can it just break out of nowhere? If I call voicemail it works only on speaker phone.

So update... only the speaker phone works. So I guess the ear piece is done for. Don't know how though. I could try to unroot or do a factory reset but I'm sure that isnt going to fix anything.

They say to steer clear of launch day phones, IMO it's just a matter of luck. Some phones have problems, while others don't...
I've had to exchange one for a buzzing earpiece. The build quality is not as good as the OG Droid as far as the speaker is concerned.
hello,
I have a weird problem since a couple of days making calls.
The person I call can barely hear me, often not at all no matter how loud I speak.
I thought the mic might be broken but when I do a speach recording it works just fine.
everything else also works.
anyone got an idea about that?
Sounds like a Rom issue, try a clean re-install
nandroid back up first
Try adjusting the phone's position when you're talking.

Common fault. I had mine since launch day then a few weeks ago people couldn't hear me unless i was on Speakerphone or with headset on.
Got sent a brand spanker from HTC because they couldn't fix it, three days later the new phone did the same thing...
I've had it for a week and am noticing some call quality issues on Sprint. Is anyone else noticing a hissing/distortion when people talk? I get it while on the earpiece in the phone or when using ear buds. I haven't tried speaker phone yet as I don't use that very much.
There was a post on Sprint's community forum about a couple other people having the same issue. I exchanged mine for a different phone and the new one does the same thing as well.
Yeah i get that same problem as well. There were couple threads earlier about this same problem. I am not sure if there is a solution. But I noticed that it started after that over the air update for camera.

Yeah she was fine for a week.... then after work Sunday it just failed.
No touch less controls, no google now
People can't hear me in calls unless I scream and even then they just great noise
:/
And now I must go a week or two without a phone?
Ugh...
I may go and just buy a nexus 5 just to not wait... But I've really loved my Dev edition.
Any one had this problem?

I was putting my screen protector on and I guess the solution got into the mic. It wasn't working for a few hours. I also had to scream at it to get it to work.

Yeah I'm just returning mine, I don't have 7 days to go missing work calls :/ , in the mean time I'm going to buy a refurb Nexus 4.
Freaking pathetic that the mic breaks after a week.
They'll overnight a brand new phone to you. Just saying...
Does the phone fill with the water? Perhaps it's the problem.
Once my phone was taked in water, and I used hair-dryer to make it dry. then it works well now.
I've been through 3 of them and i'm getting my replacement today. I know this sounds silly but ,but diid any of you happen to have just put on a screen protector? I ask because to forums ive seen recognize this as the problem. defective screens.
I had the same problem, but I had my X since November and all of the sudden it went bad. People couldn't hear me on calls, no Google now either it was just dead.
Went to Verizon store they checked the phone and decided to send me a replacement.
I got my replacement 3 days later and guess what FREAKING same problem with the replacement phone, it came with a broken Mic. Went back to Verizon and now they are sending another replacement. I don't know what's the deal with the microphones. For me it seems that the opening it might be too exposed to dust and with time this gets into the mic. I might get my replacement today.

Did any of you try using compressed air?
Hello Folks,
I have an HTC One with a faulty primary mic, I have concluded it to be a hardware problem because its condition is the same after installing various different custom ROMs (the mic became faulty while on the stock ROM). I am using Viper ROM at the moment.
Now, with this problem, I have to use the mic from my earphones everytime I make a call. I am mostly OK with that, but I am trying to find ways where I should be able to use it without external mic in case I forget to carry my earphones/mic with me.
I was running the HTC Function Test the other day and discovered that my device comes with a secondary mic at the back of the phone, which works absolutely fine when I tested it. The recording (while holding as if I was talking on the phone) and playback from that mic was perfect. It would be really useful if I could either make it my primary microphone (calls, recordings, etc.) or atleast use it for phone calls. I don't know if there is a way from the hardware perspective, but I am quite sure we could do it by changing properties from within the build.
This is my first ever question, and I am counting on this community for the solution.
Cheers!
Not sure if it's possible. But if it's under warranty still why not get it fixed?

Thanks nateboi81, but it's not in warranty anymore... I'd actually be interested to find it's spare part which has the mic to replace it myself.
The primary mic seems to get clogged very easily with dust. I've read a few threads in the past where people thought their mic's were defective but after cleaning out the hole, the mic was working fine again.

That's exactly what I had thought as well, so instead of poking toothpicks into the mic hole, I disassembled my phone, took the mic out, looked at it, cleaned it carefully, assembled my phone back, started it all up... and it just didn't make any difference at all.
I got chocolate clogged in mine after Easter

Just to update the thread with the latest...
I ordered the spare via www/parts4repair/com and replaced it. The new microphone works perfectly well. Problem sorted
Cheers!
