Bricked S3 Lte replacement MB - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I have a S3 LTE (4G) that does not start anymore aka DEAD. I have a motherboard from a screen broken S3 3G that works perfectly. Is it worth taking that logic board and transplanting it onto the LTE screen one ? are the connectors compatible ?

Replace the broken digitizer of the 3G s3 with the LTE one. Lots of members of xda says they are the same. give it a try
I don't think replacing motherboard is a good idea, as they are not identical.

I have taken apart many S3s but I have yet to look inside an S3 4G. I might find some HD youtube footage and go from there. Its basicly the same thing but with more RAM and an LTE monicker which I'm sure the S3 was capable of doing anyway but with different firmware.

Replacing a 4G screen with a 3g screen results in loss of baseband and imei. So be careful

Hey there, just took a look at some websites that dismantled the 3G zoom . I am yet to see a dismantled wifi only zoom, but it would be my guessing that the only difference between the two would be the absence of a minipci express LTE card? will it be possible to install i.e. a GOBI1000 modem? and furthermore, to make honeycomb acess such a modem? aaaa it is nice to dream.....
From what I gather the WIFI versions don't have the PCI connector that the 3G versions do; therefore, I don't think it will be possible to upgrade the WIFI to 3G/4G.

And we don't even know if the TS means American 3G or European 3G. In Europe, 3G goes via a SIM-card (like 4G in USA).
It is not possible without replacing the Xoom [WIFI] Mainboard with that of a Xoom 3G/LTE Mainboard
also here are a few pics of the Wifi tear down http: //imgur [DOT ] com/a/61qp6#7Afe0
the parts such as the pci, and the 3g modules they were not put on the board.

[GT-S6802]All Discussion for Ace Duos (GSM+GSM)

i don't know if this thread exists but here i'm making it anyways
i wish to develop for this phone as my friend just bought one of this GT-S6802 phones lately.
You can post all development/discussion/news info right here on this thread and ask for any help too
and the first question is....
it runs GB right? and an ICS update is on the cards if i'm not wrong?
any official methods to root this phone ?
Hi! Glad to see the Ace Duos is being tackled by developers It is starting to show up in Germany these days, with the first shipments available end of next week... I alread ordered mine and am looking forward to whatever you come up with here (esp. root)
I see you are in India; while researching about the Ace Duos I realized, that there seem to be two different versions in India: The I589 esp. with a weaker camera and weaker processor, less storage space and Froyo - and the S6802 with 5MP cam, GB, 3GB storage etc. which is what we are going to see in Europe. Both came out this year in India?

The I589 is a duos with CDMA+GSM sim.
While the S6802 is a GSM+GSM version.....
And I589 came out in Q1 this year, and the S6802 came out in Q2
Does that mean the I589 has one sim for phone and one for data only? If that is the case, why, with lesser specs all around, is it the same price or even more expensive than the S6802?
I589 has one SIM for GSM and the CDMA is usually built in (CDMA connections usually do not have a SIM)
both can be used for calls.
data on any one of them but one at a time not both simultaneously
S6802 (on which i intend to develop) is GSM + GSM
you can use data on both but 3G can be used only on one sim at a time ;p
i am looking to develop for the S6802 only.
if there are too many requests for the I589 i may support that too
I suppose the need for the S6802 will be much bigger, because it will be available all over the world; also, it seems the I589 runs Froyo, so that would be completely different things...

It has two sim slots, a CDMA and a GSM sim
ANd it is priced at around the a 1000INRs lesser than the GSM GSM version
Ace duos wont get ICS. It uses an Armv6 processor too and Samsung wont provide ics to those type of devices. Only Ace 2 has been confirmed to get ics.

Though the Ace will probably not get ICS oder JB oficially, a CM9 or CM10 is not out of the question, or is it?

Can some give a quick review of the GSM+GSM version of the device? Battery life, camera, audio quality and performance. Would be buying one in a few days.
Also since this one is available only in white colour, does the colour look as if it would fade over time?

you'll be VERY dissapointed to use ACE DUOS performance wise after having owned a SGSII
but in general it's a really good phone... and for a dual 3G phone, it's battery life is awesome

He he.. It's not for me buy for my dad I brought it yesterday for 12.5K. Was that the best price?
I'm totally a noon regarding the dual sim usage and how it works in android. Can you explain me in brief and also what's the difference between active dual and standby dual? And this phone is active or stand by?
Thanks a lot! :-D

the hardware supports active dual sim but TRAI policy in india does not allow so it's blocked in the firmware.
in active dual sim there are two radios and both can run simultaneously (i mean gsm radio not fm radio)

Does this apply to both the S6802 and the CDMA-Version? Would that mean that theoretically Active Dual SIM could be unblocked by a modded Firmware?

yes... even applies to Galaxy Y duos
any phone which allows you to access internet from sim2 while calling on sim1 means that hardware allows active dual sim
all galaxy duos phones support this feature... so if you get what i mean
Well, as far as I understood it so far you cannot use Internet while talking... If you are online and someone calls on the other SIM, Internet is disconnected and you can accept the call. Also there is a function to forward a call from the other SIM while talking, using call forward and then you can use conference call-functions of the same line to talk to both. This sounds more like there is only one radio unit and the other functions are handled via network services...
my friend has a galaxy y duos (gsm + gsm)
in settings there is option "allow data on other sim when on call"

Buy S3 or S3 LTE

Hi,
I am planning to buy a galaxy s3. Actually I do not need LTE but I tend to buy the LTE for the 2GB RAM.
Do you think there is a significant difference in performance between both versions?
Are there any good reasons to take the normal s3 instead of LTE version?
Well, on N5 you can keep more than 2 apps active, I believe this happens cos of 2GB ram, so 2GB of ram are necesseary now
I think there is no good reason to buy s3. Just go get the LTE version.
I don't know if you have used LTE (4g) before. If not I can tell you, 4g is way faster than 3g. So getting a 4g compatible device is a smart move. You may not want or need 4g now, but definitely 4g is the trend. For example in hong kong ,4g coverage is very well already.
Of cos the 2g ram makes a big difference in performance.
But if taking into account of nexus 5, I would suggest nexus 5.

Thanks for your reply. I don´t think the N5 is an option for me even though it was my first idea for my new phone. I don´t like the weak battery and the missing sd card slot.
Then I thought about the S4 but when I read about the self-destroying displays I dropped this idea.
Now I chose the S3 as I think it still is a great device and it provides everything that I need plus it is also much cheaper (<200€ instead of 400€ for the N5 32GB)
4G definitely....in the city i live got 90% 4G coverage...and you can notice the difference...
4G is the future...sooner or later it will come to you...and the extra GB of RAM is great
I think there are more rom options for s3, and the difference between 3g and 4g isn't that big, I would have bought s3 instead of the lte version

SM-N920i, Australia, 4 bars reception but no mobile data

Picked up a cheap Note 5 through Ebay with a broken back, I like fixing things but this one has me stumped!
I get full reception bars but no mobile data, it will sometimes switch between H or H+ but nothing comes down then just goes back to blank.
- This is in a good 4 G area
- APN is always set as per provider
- Tried 2 different sims but only from one company, Optus Australia
- I have tried 3 official ROMS applied through ODIN
- When replacing the back I stripped the phone back to the screen and checked all cables while reassembling, I didn't notice anything odd.
- KNOX is at 0
- IMEI is not locked
Is there anything I have missed?
Antennas are around the edges right? Not in the actual backing of the phone as I haven't replaced it yet.

I also wonder if it is locked to a different region. I have never seen a phone that is region locked but I would imagine you would get an error message of some sort so my best guess is that the antenna is messed up.
Yes, also wondering about Sim slot, could that be the issue?
I'll take it apart again for another look.
Ok, now I am thinking some one has flashed the wrong radio as it is mentioning wcdma which Australia doesn't have anymore.
Can I flash a specific radio or maybe this is a version from another country with Australian firmware forced on it?

WCDMA is what GSM carriers use for 3G. You can mix and match different parts of firmware on Samsung phones. I used to do it on my Note4 to get 4G speeds on my 3G only phone. I would use one version for the main OS to include the choice for LTE and the modem from firmware for my version to make the modem work. I doubt that is what is going on with your phone since you have flashed firmware on it which would overwrite any previous firmware even if it was a mix and match. I looked again at the picture you have for your tablet. I am not that familiar with tablets so I have to ask. Is that SIM GSM or CDMA?
Thanks for the assistance, I don't have time to troubleshoot any longer so will sell it on. Nice phone though and I considered keeping it as a mini wireless tablet.

on sprint tmobile and verzion models there are 2 wires that go from mother board to lower board that houses the usb
if u have it taken apart and looking there is a lower left anten plug in and a higher one on the rite.
the lower left one is for the cell radios and the higher one is for the wifi i had mine crossed on the usb board side and had the best wifif sig ever but absolutly no cell sig
I have had it totally apart, swapped the antenna wires and also the screen frame in case something was not connecting there. I think maybe the 3g/4g chip is toasted or something. Flashed a few stock ROMS but no good.

Note 5 Motherboard Compatibility

Hey I am new to the forum but I know this is the best place online to go for advice like this.
The problem is this: I have a Note 5 from T-Mobile. The wifi and bluetooth are acting funny, and I am assuming that the wifi chip/motherboard is failing.
I have a Note 5 Motherboard from Sprint that my brother broke, but before i take my phone apart and perhaps do more worse than good trying to squish the other motherboard into it, I wanted to know: Are these motherboards compatible?
I know that with the >Galaxy S6< the CDMA and GSM versions are different. There is a corner of the motherboard where the components are moved a little so the motherboard wont fit snug against the lcd carcass, and ultimately you cant shut the phone completely. All the CDMA variants use the Verizon motherboard so they are certainly compatible. No clue about the GSM variants they all have a different marking for each company.
Is this the case as well with the Note 5? In the pictures I am seeing online, they look identical... but I am afraid they might be generic stock photos of the motherboards so I don't want to rely on that.
Alternatively, are the GSM variants compatible with each other? If i bought one from ATT could i put it in a T-Mobile phone? Or does it have to be the EXACT SAME MODEL?
SUMMARY OF QUESTION: Are the N920P and N920T motherboards swappable? Are GSM variants of the Note 5 generally swappable? (N920A N920T N920M, etc)
Thanks in advance for any help!
N920 Note 5 variants and logic board compatibility
You would not believe, despite how simple and necessary your question is, that you'll not find the answer hardly anywhere on the internet. I know where I've searched will tell me if the frame for the Verizon version of an n920p would fit the logic board from an in 920p Sprint motherboard. Actually you've given me more insight than anywhere else of red from, in that there must be extra or less Electronics fastened to the GSM version. If you would have to slam it into your CDMA formed case, then that would absolutely defeat the purpose of having a 4 gigabyte RAM Qualcomm awesome processor $550 phone. From what I hear however, all of the Note 5 series phones are capable of transmitting and receiving all frequencies, CDMA and GSM. Of course the n920p than I have focuses on wcdma bands and LTE bands. As a matter of fact I can't even get it to work on a GSM carrier, even though I've spent at least $50 and 15 hours trying to get it unlocked to do so. And I agree with what you had stated at the beginning, if there is a place to find the answer than this would be it. So why don't want to view phone know every damn thing all people please let us know, can I put a T-Mobile motherboard from a note 5 inside of my Note 5 that I got from Sprint? Thank you. And I will go ahead and let you know I have done the conversion over to n920p I, I think I currently am running a firmware from Pakistan or maybe Uganda. The phone is quite simple to root even at the 7.0 level firmware, I've changed the IMEI, I can change the location to make it appear that I'm in Paris France and Dallas Texas at the same time, but I can't get the thing to run on a GSM frequency and a carrier that's based here in the US.
