You could relock just the time to uptime via Androxydes flashtool.
Via BLU function.
Relock bootloader, update to 10.5.A.0.230 and re-unlock afterwards.
You can reroot with Towelroot afterwards.

my xperia z bootloader is locked and can be unlocked, i'm still on stock rom 4.1.2.
i'm planning to get root and install a recovery, but keep the bootloader locked. will it then be possible to receive sony's offical jb 4.2.2 update when rooted and recovery installed? i know that once the update 4.2.2. is installed i will have to re-root.
thanks

Thanks for your reply.
But will it install? Just a notification would be useless...
Or will I have to get the update somewhere here on xda and flash it manually?
It installs, and overwrites your root. For now that's not an issue, but when 5.0 comes out it might not be possible to get root again due to SELinux being implemented.
Yes exactly as Tom mentioned, it will happy install from PC Companion straight over top, then you just need to re-root again.
4.2.2 would be nice first Tom
Hello Friends

just install Flashtool v0.9.13 on PC, download the FTF .136 file, turn off your phone, hold volume down all the time and connect via USB to PC, let windows install the drivers for Flashmode, put the FTF in Flashtool folder, open Flashtool, click flash, select the FTF, do Wipe Data, appslog, cashe, hold volume down all the time, flash it, when you see the first percent of the progerss on green bar you can leave the volume down, enjoy 4.3 FW .136.
Thank you for your reply. I know how to flash FW with flashtool, but where can i download .136 FW for my device (C6943) ?
And i will probably lose root, right? Can it be rooted?

I blocked my bootloader for .290 to .136 to update via SUS al unable to unlock more, have any suggestions?
My work step..
My work step..
Upgrade via PCsuit then use Flashtool create 14.2.A.1.136.tft (cant not unlock via Fastboot)
Downgrade to .290 (cant not unlock via Fastboot), But I use Flashtool64 Unlock my C6902 by downgrade to .290 (I'm not sure if unlock via flashtool on .136)
then flash 14.2.A.1.136.tft that I has created, then use fastboot flash DoomKernel v6, restart into phone, open SuperSU upgrade and install.
Turn-off and flash 14.2.A.1.136 Kernel (Only kernel).
:laugh::laugh:Finally I got Officail firmware with rooted.:laugh::laugh:

How big is that OTA update?
Try, if you can flash it it could work and you could actually preserve root, maybe even recovery but in 99% of cases you'll get error.
OTA update can't be flashed on rooted device (but, as I said, there were few times it actually worked if it's small, few mb update)
But this is update from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 so I doubt it'll work.

OTA updates with root are fine, but you may well lose root, just as you would flashing a FTF or updating via Pccompanion.
The issue with OTA updates is if you have an unlocked bootloader.

That's not correct mate.
Try to downgrade, root and install recovery then try to update via OTA - you'll fail.
Only one or two OTA updates worked on rooted Z1.
I have rooted Z1 with locked bootloader and OTA will always said - error while trying to flash, update your device through pc companion.
I'm 100% certain...

OK, the few times I tried it I had no problem, but I have only ever done it a couple of times..
It's 154.5 Mb, my bootloader is still locked only my device is rooted so I will go ahead give it a try and see what happens if it fails or I lose the root I can again downgrade and root right?
Yes, but you can also just root the FW anyway

If you want to update, then download FTF. You will loose root. Or use NUTS pre rooted rom. If you want to root yourself, look over to cross development and use easy root tool v8. Then also download nuts xzdual for locked boot.

Yeah, Indian version was delayed by a month or so.
But I guess some regions haven't even received the 4.4.2 update yet.
Just got the Update Notice (C5502) via PCC here in Taiwan. But it failed to move forward after software download... Will give it another try later...

No need to unroot. You will get the update even if rooted.
But if you have unlocked the bootloader, you will have to relock it.
not yet on Indian c5502 XZRs

Is this ZR's last update?
Since this update is released 18 months after ZR entered the market, is it the final firmware?

Probably Yes.
Unless Sony decides to be generous enough to provide us 5.0 update. But the chances are bleak.

I flashed the update via flashtool and lost my root Towelrooted, but the developer has stopped developing and now he works for Google. So no more updates. Will have to wait for a proper root in a few weeks now.

OTA will always fail when you're rooted, as signature checks will fail. You need to flash a pre-rooted 157 after wiping system and caches (not data).

Install a non-rooted, fresh copy of 157. Close Sony Updater tool(s).
Flash the 108 kernel using Flashtool. Close Flashtool.
Root using XperiaRoot. Close XperiaRoot.
Flash the 157 kernel using Flashtool. Close Flashtool.
Install XZDR Dual Recovery, and use TWRP from now on. CWM is old and should be killed with fire.
Send me $50 and a large pepperoni pizza.
