[Q] Wi-Fi and camera problems after rooting - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I used Safestrap to root my mobile phone today (Galaxy S4 Active I9295, Android Version 4.2.2), then I installed the ROM "Virgin Google Play Edition". The ROM was zipped in one file including Kernel files.
Everything was working properly until I realized that Wi-Fi is not even turning on. I restarted and double checked it but it didn't work.
Also, the camera is showing "Can't connect to the camera" error. Moreover, every time I power the device on it shows the Safestrap's screen and asks me to choose (Continue / Recovery). When I click on "Continue" the system doesn't start immediately. It turns the screen off for about 5 minutes then it starts the system on itself !
What do I have to do ?
Thank you.

[Q] GT-N7000 bricked by using bluetooth earphone ???

Hi there,
Used my old samsung bluetooth earphone for one call today and after the call the phone froze ? With a restart it boots to the first screen and the bluetooth symbol comes on in the top right corner where the 3G symbol should be. It then hangs and after about a minute goes into a loop showing the samsung name glowing, glowing,...I have to remove the battery to shut it down. I did a back up in recovery, (it won't back up to the external sd card for some reason...) but it reproduces the same scenario - the bluetooth symbol followed by the ever glowing shut down....the 3G never get's there and I can't see the phone on my PC either so I can't save my data. Effectively, I have data and recordings I need to recover. Any ideas how I may save my phone and data ? And what the hell happened ? I have never had bluetooth issues before ! The phone had just updated some apps including google voice whose download hung and I eventually force topped it. But that wouldn't kill my phone, would it ??!! Weird...:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Oops ! Forgot to specify : Rom = Ultimate N7000 XXLT4 JellyBean 4.1.2 v6 with Philz safe kernel and CWM 6.0.3.1 based touch recovery (still working )

Click to collapse
The failed update might have something to do with it ( I think), anyway, to save your data and setting, reboot to recovery, go to mount&storage, format SYSTEM, CACHE, PRELOAD, and wipe dalvik Cache. After that reflash your ROM, reboot and try.

[Q] GT-N7100 multiple issues

Hi guys, first of all this is my first post here and won't be my last.
I am an Apple/iPhone long time user and want to tryout Android, just because I think it's time for a change , without knowing if I could get used to the new OS and wanting to spend as less as possible on this "endeavor" I bought a second hand Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100 from a friend, the phone worked perfectly when I bought it, it had Android 4.1.2 on it and I wanted to update it to 4.4.2, did some research on the net about this (learned about the locked bootloader - this wasn't an issue for me coming from the iPhone) and updated the phone using Kies - and this is were the fun begins.
The update failed, and the phone was softbricked but could still go into download and recovery mode, after reading a few hours on the internet, I used Odin to flash a 4.3 stock rom for the n7100 which I downloaded from samsung-updates, the software got installed on the phone but it was very laggy (with the phone opened but locked, when I pressed the power button it took about 7-8 seconds for the display to light-up, the animations were very sluggish and phone was unusable).
I installed another ROM, using Odin, this time a 4.4.2, with the same results (every time I reset to factory setting and wipe cache from recovery - this didn't help).
I then installed clockwork recovery and rooted the phone then installed cyanogenmod 10.1 which worked almost ok but if i locked the phone after a few seconds the phone would restart, wipe cache/restore factory settings didn't help, i installed it again hoping it would be just an issue with the installation but had the same result, phone would restart.
I've followed all tutorials I could find related to this phone and this issue, installed several patches, reinstalled several stock roms, installed Criskelo rom, all with the same result, the phone is very very very slow and freezez after a while or it restarts after i lock the phone.
So, let me just give u some history on the phone, enumerate the symptoms and where I am right now:
History:
The phone was bought from Vodafone Romania, was never rooted and was never updated (before me ) and still has 3 months warranty.
Symptoms:
- Phone is very slow, unusable
- Freezes after the display is locked
- it is not recognized in windows, when I connect it i can hear the windows connect chime but the phone storage is not mounted, in device manager the phone is recognised as "cdc communication interface" which is not installed - i have the samsung drivers installed, and i have tried on other PC's with the same result, I also tried with several data cables - same thing - the phone works ok when in recovery/download mode
- sometimes when the phone is connected to the PC and the screen goes dark a gray battery appears with a "wait circle" and the phone freezes
- in recovery the phone displays 14 bynaries downloaded and also knox warranty void 1
- most of the roms freez in the language selection screen - i boot-up the phone (after i do a restore factory settings) the installing application dialog appears and then the language selection screen appears, then after 5-6 seconds the phone freezes - the freeze is not triggered by something I do it's triggered by time, after 5-6 seconds no matter what I do with the phone the phone freezes, if it makes any difference, exactly before the phone freezes the display brightness goes to the maximum setting.
Where I am right now
- I installed another stock rom, 4.4.2, it worked acceptable for a few minutes (it got passed the initial setup with no issues) then i left it on the desk, the display went dark and the battery thing happened again and the phone froze, i restarted the phone in recovery, did a factory reset, when the phone started it froze on the language selection screen.
I am at this for about a week now and I have no more ideas and no more patience, and run out of threads and tutorials to read, I am 1 step away of using the phone as a paperweight so please help, any idea would be appreciated, even if it's to enlighten me about what happened and telling me that the phone is bricked.
I am willing to try anything even if it is risky and can totally brick the phone, this is not my main phone and it's purpose is to help me understand android, and help me not make the same mistakes next time.
But, if it's possible I would like to fix the phone because even though it's pretty old it's still an ok phone.
Sorry wrong forum. You need N7100, not the n7000. Good luck.

crashing after rooting and not turning on anymore

Hello, and help pls, i tried to instal gapps on a k3 note and installed a new ROM with gapps included, it worked but cellular network wasnt working anymore so i tried again but think i installed only "recovery" since it was the only checked box in spflashtool and then the problem begun. the phone is not turning on anymore, it only vibrates so second day i tried again, readed more and took original ROM and installed again (and again..)(and also all boxes are checked ) but every time i flash, the phone boots up until before the language set screen and its turning off and same step again....only vibrates when i try to power on (also recovery mode its doing the same thing - vibrates after a lil longer delay) ,also tried 2 other different rooms, original again w/o format....but same answer... does anyone have any idea of whats happening?

LG90 Marshmallow CM13 Decryption Unsuccessful Bootloop - How to Escape and Reinstall!

For LG L90 D415, upgrading to Marshmallow 6.0 and doing stupid stuff along the way!
I'm new to flashing and ROMs, but I had to piece this together over eight hours last night, so I wanted to share the results in case anyone else ends up in the same situation. I'll include step-by-steps and download links below.
What Happened:
Decided to leave T-Mobile and use Hangouts over wifi for free phone service. (Which totally works, btw - I pay $15 a month for high speed wifi at home, and wifi is everywhere now, so there are just small travel gaps when I'm not reachable. You can use any wifi capable phone or tablet to do this without any kind of paid phone service.)
Got tired of T-Mobile bloatware and decided to break phone free by converting from Android 5.02 to Marshmallow.
Rooted phone with LG OneClickRoot.
Used Flashify, TWRP, CM13 and gapps to convert.
Internal storage was nearly full after conversion, so newbishly decided to delete CM13 and gapps zips from storage, deleted TWRP and Flashify folders, *and backups, doh* and then-
Tried activating Encrypt Phone function, which failed, locking me in a bootloop from LG logo to CM face to Decryption Unsuccessful - Reset Phone screens.
Being new to all this, I Googled solutions like crazy. I watched YouTube videos and tried anything I could find. If you're a newbie too and none of these work for you, now you know you're not alone.
What Didn't Work:
Powering off, then restarting while holding down Power and Volume Down. This sent it into TWRP, which would process something for a few seconds that I had no control over, and inevitably dumped me back into the bootloop.
Powering off, then restarting while holding Power, Volume Down and Volume Up. Apparently that isn't a function of this kind of phone.
Updating Drivers - Device Manager wouldn't let me install LG or universal ADB drivers. When the phone showed up at all, it registered as "MTP Device" and declared it had the correct drivers. Hand-picking drivers with Have Disk didn't work either.
All other attempts to get back into TWRP so I could wipe and reinstall.
Downloading Minimal ADB and Fastboot - "adb devices" in the command prompt couldn't find my phone.
Downloading Odin in the vain hope it would somehow see my device and magically make everything better.
Smashing phone repeatedly against forehead.
What Finally DID Work:
I found a page suggesting I power off, then immediately hold down Volume UP and Power, and plugged my phone by USB into my computer at the same time. This finally broke the cycle into a Firmware Upgrade screen.
This screen will tell you not to unplug the phone until the process is complete. Its progress bar will rest at 0% forever while you do other stuff to fix it.
While it waited, I downloaded the entire LG L90 firmware .KDZ file, and a program called LG Flash Tool 2014.
I extracted LG Flash Tool 2014, then extracted the .KDZ file into its folder.
I ran LG Flash Tool 2014, set Select Type to 3GQCT, set PhoneMode to EMERGENCY, selected my KDZ file and clicked Normal Flash.
It then asks you for country and language - select Different Country and English.
The first time it ran, all the text was ?????????, and the program errored out and closed. My phone *did* process the FirmWare Upgrade even after LG Flash Tool 2014 errored out, so I waited until it reached 100%.
I ran it again with the same settings, and this time the text was English. The Firmware Upgrade on my phone processed to 100% again. I think LG Flash Tool 2014 still errored out, but it looked successful.
On reboot, it took me to LG logo, CM face, and then a white "draw a pattern to unlock" screen, which is what I'd set as my security before I screwed everything up. However, drawing the pattern did nothing, it just stayed locked.
On re-reboot, I held Volume Down and Power, and this time it went to the Factory Reset screen. I selected Yes, and it loaded into TWRP again. PHEW.
At this point, I think my computer could see my phone again, so I plugged it in with USB and copied the CM13 and gapps zips back where they'd been.
In TWRP, I ran Wipe, then Installed CM, then gapps.
I selected Reboot System, and voila, booted properly into Marshmallow.
Unfortunately, Marshmallow was working, but Google Play was freaking out - I kept getting multiple "Unfortunately, Google has stopped working" messages every ten seconds. But I found downloading a different version of gapps, and using TWRP to wipe the system again, back it up properly, and reinstall fresh copies of CM13 and the new gapps fixed the problem.
Also, the CM13 zip I installed is apparently not the most current, so my phone told me there was a Nightly update available. I did a fresh wipe and install with that new one in TWRP. I don't know how to link to it, but your phone should tell you automatically that you can download it once Marshmallow is running.
Links to the programs I used to fix my phone and properly install Marshmallow:
LG OneClickRoot: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzczCljwgNnuSDZoSXBNTUptcDA&authuser=0
Flashify (you can download and install TWRP straight through this program): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify&hl=en
CM13 (The original I used before my phone told me I could update): http://quarx2k.ru/index2.php?m&dir=lg_l90
gapps (The one that fixed the Google problem): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347835438
LG Flash Tool 2014: http://lgflashtool.com/download/
LG Drivers (straight from official LG site): http://tool.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
LG D415 Firmware KDZ (To use with LG Flash Tool 2014): https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347759872
Theoretically, I think if you follow the steps here to root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/root-lg-optimus-l90-44-2-5-0-2-android-t3110257
And here to install Marshmallow:
http://www.droidviews.com/install-android-6-0-marshmallow-for-lg-l90-with-cm-13/
But use the Benzo gapps from the link above, it should install properly the first time with no Google problems.
I hope this helps, and good luck to other newbs out there!

Root not properly working, please help!

I have the dual sim Exynos version, model number SM-N950F/DS.
I followed this guide 100% as said:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygcDFTPT248
Root is not properly working. Unsure why. I rooted using Magisk. When checking the app, it has ticked both latest and installed version V16.4. When checking safety net option, both are ticked.
Adaway even after rebooting says ''rooted Android required'' . Root explorer not working also. The only thing I got working and only after rebooting it worked was Titanium backup. After rebooting I was prompted to give root access which obviously I did and it works fine.
However, other apps requiring root access do not prompt me to grant it root access and immediately says ''no root'' .
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Ps. I keep getting this annoying notificaiton on the taskbar saying ''Security notice. Unauthorised actions have been detected. Restart.'' . How do I get rid of this notification? I restarted twice yet it keeps popping up.
And now for no apparent reason I am stuck on the Samsung logo, phone is not booting up. The top left blue LED is flashing but the phone is not booting. Please help.
^ I managed to fix my device, like always I was running an older version of TWRP!! Happens every time with every phone regardless!
From one of the threads, I downloaded the very latest recovery and flashed it via ODIN. Voila! Installed one of the Note 8 roms and perfect. Everything working fine.
Why is it if using a slightly older recovery nothing works? I am unable to even format/wipe, install roms, nothing...
