Im new to G1s I switched from an iphone. I had one that I bought off someone, and I put my Dad's sim card in to activate it because he had the blackberry unlimited internet plan. It activated my phone and went through normally. Well, my screen cracked, so I sold that phone and bought another one off someone else. They factory restored it. So I put my Dads sim in again, and now its not activating this phone like it did the last one. I downgraded it and that didnt help either!! Please tell me what I can do to activate it without getting the G1 plan or fibding someone with one because I dont know anybody who owns a G1.
Thnx!

Took me all of 10sec to find out how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316&highlight=wireless next time at least make an effort to find a solution, the people here hate answering questions that we've already answered and written guides for because it means we wrote the guides for no reason.

Seriously... all you asked was how to activate your phone without using your dad's SIM as that no longer worked...
Ok. I had an old G1, put my Dads SIM in because he had the blackberry internet, it let me activate my gmail account and went through. Now I have a new one that was factory restored, I put his SIM in, and now its telling me ""There is a problem communicating with the google servers; this could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services."" The other G1 didnt give me this problem. So now I cant even sign into the phone to get to the main menu. Is there ANY way around this??
Either you need to follow the instructions in the link that was provided (many people have used that option) or get a data plan. T-Mobile killed the feature to use other data plans. You need to have the G1/Android Unlimited data plan now.

"First, You must have either RC29 or earlier, or modded RC30. It won't work with official RC30, sorry."
Can you confirm youre on RC29 or earlier??
yea I did the [enter] reboot [enter] thing and it reboots
But dont I have to be able to get into the phone and check the debugging option to be able to set up adb on my computer??? I dont have a PC, I have a Mac, and I was up for hours last night trying to figure out how to set up ADB on my Mac, and I never figured it out!!

Set what up in terminal. And you don't have to be on the homescreen for your computer to pick up your phone for adb.
dont you have to check the G1 debugging in the settings in order for the computer to recognize the phone in adb (the terminal) im using a mac

You're sure you read the whole thing... like this part?:
"If you have an official RC29 or lower phone, type the following command on the phone keyboard to enable adb:
<enter>setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1<enter>"
Notice... It doesn't say anything about using your computer either Windows or Mac...
Ok I got that now.
I did it, and I didnt get any notification that adb is turned on. Should I have got one, or does it turn on but doesnt let you know
Ok I got it! Thnx alot for your help dude
Ok one last question...
can you tell me a more detailed way on how to do this I dont quite understand:
Now, copy a busybox binary to /data/local/busybox with adb push, and then connect to your phone with adb shell, and give the busybox binary execute permissions (i.e. chmod 755 /data/local/busybox)
busybox has a telnet applet, so you can do:
busybox telnet 127.0.0.1
to get a telnet session with root access.
Hey, everyone.
I just bought an ATT Samsung Focus S i937 off of eBay. It was locked when I received it, so I plunked down 25 bucks and unlocked it. I'm using it on Telus and so far all is well, except for WiFi connection sharing/tethering.
When I try to enable internet sharing, I get a message saying "Connection not shared. To enable tethering on this device go to (ATT's website) or dial 611."
Basically, it sounds like I need to have an ATT tethering plan to enable this on my phone, but since I'm not an ATT customer, there's not mch I can do.
I was wondering if there is a workaround for this. Please let me know!
Thanks,
Taylor

firstly DO NOT INSTALL THE SAMSUNG UPDATE!! and if updating the OSan have it unlocked already read This Website and use the relock prevent + edit your hosts file
Absolutely back up your device at every stage using This Guide
So follow these steps
unlock the device Here follow the instructions which includes installing the diagnostic tool and install XAP deployer or XAP handler Here or Here With the XAP file deployer in the WP7 SDK
Then install WP7 Root Tools Here
Then install WP Bazaar market Here
Open Root Tools, and give Bazaar higher level privileges
Find WinTT on the Bazaar market and install it
Open Root Tools, and give WinTT higher level privileges
you may need to restart to get WinTT working
go through WinTT and turn on ICS
Done
Wow thanks.
That's very complete. One questions though... I didn't mention this, but I am a registered WP7 dev and can unlock this device using my dev access. Can I load any of the XAPs directly instead of having to crack my phone?
Thanks,
Taylor
Yeah, you have limited access to installing xaps, but you will still need to interop unlock and use root tools to give higher level access to WinTT, so your best starting from scratch,

I have purchased an Samsung Focus S i937 locked to AT&T. I have purchased an unlock code and have successfully unlocked my phone. Im also unable to use the Internet Sharing feature of my phone. Firstly, I am not a technical guy hence im unable to understand the process stated by you. Secondly, I wanted to find out that does following the process given by you, expose my device to get BRICKED as I am able to understand that involved a JAIL BREAK of the device. Does it have any other side effects.? Like effecting the radio signals or any other such problem.
Thanks

ok, first things first.
You won't brick your device, at worst a hardrest all remove all changes you can do, our device, the focus S, isn't fully unlocked, so there are limitations to the amount of damage you can do by arseing it up. With that behind us you have to learn what you are about to do, there isn't a simple way.
So, start by knowing these basics, then read through the guide, any bits you don't understand feel free to ask.
1, AT&T locked your internet connection sharing, so you must re enable that
2, To enable ICS, you must make changes to the registry
3, Microsoft locked you out of making changes to the registry, so you must gain access to do it
4, AT&T left a security hole allowing us to make changes to allow us to change things like registry
5, using that hole we can install software that will give us more access, that software can then allow us to remove the AT&T lock on ics
These things you must do, there is no magic answer, there has been some short cuts made but this in some cases has had a negative effect, such as losing 3g, doing as I said will not have any effect on your signal or anything else

Have you guys noticed any of the following....
issues after the above procedures were applied (a big thanks to all the brainiacs who know how to hack this stuff):
Slowed Internet Connection
Lower Strength of GPS Signal
Less accuracy and trouble sometime finding location
Less accuracy while using maps because of the above statement
Not complaining, just curious. Thanks to all.:good:

theres nothing in the code that should have done that, the XML import only fiddles with interop unlock
im not 100% sure what WTT changes but I know the entries it should be fiddling with and shouldnt make any difference, although its been suggested the ICS code does mess with the 3G signal ive not heard anything at all to suggest that it effects GPS as well.
See This Thread for details, ive copied the relevant bits here but all thanks should go to those on the original thread
Option 1
---- 11.3. If your device is not locked to a specific operator, you can use the Samsung Network Profile app (for 1st generation) or Wireless Manager (for 2nd generation)
-------- 11.3.1. Uninstall the Samsung Network Profile / Wireless Manager app.
-------- 11.3.2. Download and install the latest version of the Samsung Network Profile / Wireless Manager app from the Marketplace.
-------- 11.3.3. Open the Samsung Network Profile / Wireless Manager app.
-------- 11.3.4. Select a different Network Operator.
-------- 11.3.5. Now Select your own Network Operator again.
-------- 11.3.6. Exit the Network Profile / Wireless Manager app.
Option 2
Resolve Samsung connection problems
A lot of Samsung owners have complained here about connection problems. They blamed Interop Unlock, but apparently this has more to do with enabling "Internet Connection Sharing" than with "Interop Unlock". You should be able to recover the connection, apply this:
1. Start Diagnosis App> *#32489# ***DOES NOT WORK ON i937***
2. Tap "Back" 2 times to go back to Phone Control
3. Choose: [7] Network Control
4. Choose: [1] GFC
5. Choose: [3] Setting Cancellation
Wait for it to say success, then reboot.
GPS is a completely passive function, I don't have a problem with this, HSDPA may have issues for reasons unknown but using this method doesn't effect mine, perhaps its carrier specific..

If you have updated the OS and NOT the samsung firmware then reapply the windows break interop unlock, be sure to keep it off the inernet by disabling all coms and then apply the relock prevent xap. if you have applied the Samsung firmware and didn't have it already unlocked or you didn't have a back up, your screwed

First of all I just want to say thanks that you're trying to help me, but I just didn't understand many things u said, I'm not really into technical stuff, but I'll tell you what info I have, in hope of u helping me better.
I don't live in the US and I bought the phone from ebay and it was unlocked and it works perfectly over 2 carriers here in my country, and I have never encountered any problems with it except for the internet sharing feature.
And about 3 months ago the phone notified my to a system upgrade from version 7.10.7740 to version 7.10.8107 then immediatly to version 7.10.8773.98. now I'm guessing these are OS firmwares not samsung software.
but I've noticed something, when I setup my phone for the first time I used a US hotmail account but before I connect to the internet the ICS feature worked, but once I signed in it gave me the dial 611 or go to att.com/mywireless message.
So I am guessing if I restore the device and sign in with a non US hotmail account may result in the feature to be unlocked. The only thing keeping me from trying this because I'll have to redownload all my apps again and reorganize my contacts again. if there's a way to avoid that or someone has tried it please do tell.
Again thanks for your reply.

im afraid to say your firmware is locked,
2103.11.10.1 is unlock-able, im pretty sure anything from xxxx.12.xx.x upwards is locked down solid
I don't suppose you made a backup? if you haven't then there is nothing you can do
the Samsung firmware update was released as a separate update at the same time as the tango 8773 build, it tried to install on mine after the 8773 build

I'm really sorry for the late reply, was busy at work. but during that time I might have found a "Glitch" or a workaround to enable it and I have tested it many times and it works.
Well there are two ways:
1st one which is a sure thing:
1) Turn off the phone, then turn on again.
2) Once the phone is turned on, immediately go to settings>internet sharing and turn it on and BOOM there you go
* I have tried this method over a dozen times and it works every single time
** The point here is that you have to enable it immediately after the phone is turned on, I think it happens because the phone doesn't have enough time to send the info. to the servers to know that it's not enabled by default.
2nd one which was succesful over 75% of the time:
1) Go to Settings>cellular>Turn Off, Wait like 5-10 seconds and turn on again.
2) Go to Internet sharing> Turn on, and enjoy :fingers-crossed:
***I don't know why do they work or how, may be it's a Glitch like I said before but the point is they do work
I hope that I've helped someone out there and Thanks to everyone who tried to help me

nice find, ICS is disabled locally only, it doesn't have anything to send, the only thing I can think of that makes sense is that the service hasn't been initialised and doesn't call the reg entries that disables ICS, by turning it on manually ASAP it perhaps catches it out. if you enable it, then disable it, can you still enable it again in that session or do you need to restart?

Well I tried that, but there is no definite answer to it, sometimes I turn it on and off on and off many times without needing to restart and throughout the whole day, and sometimes it works once and doesn't at the second try. So it all comes down to luck, but still better than nothing
Now the thing is I'm afraid that when the 7.8 update comes, they would fix this glitch =D Haha.
Hi!
I've got a serious problem accessing my TF701T. My daughter had set a pattern lock to the tablet and... now she can't remember it.
The tablet is not rooted, not unlocked and I don't know if I had USB debugging enabled....
I tried several patterns in the hope of accessing the tablet by using my google account. But unfortunately it never shows this dialog option. After some wrong tries I have to wait 30 seconds to try again....
I also tried to set a new password via the Google Device Manager. The GDM locates the device and when I "lock" the tablet with a new password (e.g. 1234) it turns out. Back on it shows the (optional) text message but there's no textbox to enter the new password. Also the GDM says that the device is already locked and a new password is not necessary.
Does anyone can help me (without doing a factory reset)?
Thanks in advance,
Michael
Ohhh... yeahh!!! After 100+ tries I found the right 5-dot pattern!
It's a solution that satisfies my needs but it could be interesting to know a technical solution.
Hey guys I recently purchased a used SM-T580 Galaxy Tab off of Amazon and the device came with and FRP lock that I can't seem to figure out how to bypass. I've been on YouTube for the last few days just trying nummerous different methods like the SideSync, OTG, Odin, and Realtek method just to name a few, however none of them are compatible with this tablet. It's very frustrating because I need this tablet working in order to take notes in my college classes. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.

The tab is compatible with odin, i would recommend flashing twrp, and installing a frp bypass zip, they exist but i don't know where one is, either that or find someone willing to send you a activated twrp backup, you can get to download via home + power + volume down and recovery via home + power + vol up(releasing vol up after samsung shown on the screen)

I was having the same problem, but i figured it out last night. Without OTG cable, Odin, SideSync, Realtek, or a PC. I'd been messing with it for 3 days, so Im not 100% sure of what everything said and i'm definitely not going to relock it to try an duplicate it, but if you've been all over youtube then you've seen methods that require a wifi connection, (I found it easiest to use my phone's wifi hotspot) you disconnect your hotspot or unplug your router immediately when it says checking for software update, which appears after clicking accept on the privacy policy. (Again it's easier to just turn off the hotspot than to unplug your router" When done correctly it souls say "couldn't sign in" and then the next screen will either ask you to set up time and date or it asks you to add a name to the tablet (can't remember which is first) then asks to set up a screen lock passcode or pattern (set up either one), after doing all this 100 times I noticed it asked me if i wanted to set up a IMAP/POP3 account to use within the Gmail app (which I'd been skipping) but for some reason it didn't give me this option every time. You have to be connected to the internet for the next part so if you haven't already go ahead and turn your hotspot back on or router and add any email address other than a Gmail (I used my yahoo account) then follow through with the setup into it takes you back to the very first screen you see when you turned on the tablet. Now just turn the tablet screen off and back on (just the screen, do not power down the tablet) put in your lockscreen password and now In the top right corner there should be a little yellow icon which lets you switch users (if you see this, you've got it beat) now create a new user signing into your Gmail and Samsung accounts (if you don't have one, create a new account) once you're done with that it will take you to the home screen, pull down the notification bar and go into settings (notice since you're on an added user you can't factory reset the device) find "Users", and then switch back to the owner profile, it then tells you that you still need to set up the tablet to continue. Once i clicked okay it now let me pull down the notification bar to access settings, but this time you're on the owners account so you can factory reset it, go to "Back up and Reset" and then go ahead and factory reset it again. If done correctly the FRP will no longer be on the tablet. I know this probably sounds extremely complex so if you have any questions feel free to message me and Ill give you my email and phone number and ill help walk you through it
You are a life saver!

Hi,
I've been a lurker on this forum for over 3 years.. I never got round to signing up.
I've just created account, with the purpose of telling you how grateful I am, I have been looking for a solution all night.
Nothing, literally NOTHING! worked, but your solution worked with no issues, I even had my old apps restored.
I spent HOURS reading through countless posts, watching youtube videos.. trying everything..
I must admit, your post was a little complicated, I ended up giving up 2 or 3 times to try other things, but eventually went back to it, read everything super carefully, and it worked perfectly!
Thank you so much!!!
Mike.

Wow, it's pretty awesome to see someone else was able to use my crazy instructions and come out successful. I spent almost two days doing the same thing. I can't even count how many forums I read, videos i watched or methods I tried. I was driving myself crazy (and everyone around me) i was beginning to think it was impossible on this device. I have been using xda for many years and I'm thankful for all the knowledge I've gained from this forum so when I was able to beat it i felt I was obligated to pay it forward.
I wish I had the time to create a video explaining how to do it, I'm sure it would make a lot more sense that way.
Anyway I'm so glad I was able to help

Can you tell me which firmware you have and how many times it took you to get to that imap/pop screen. I'm not getting any questions about email, it takes me right back to start the process all over again after i put in password.

T580XAR1APG1 and if it's not working try resetting it again through recovery mode and start from scratch. I played with it for what seemed like an eternity before I even paid any attention to the prompt to set up IMAP/POP so I'm not certain how many times.. You might be skipping a step or you may not be getting the timing right when you disconnect the Wi-Fi connection. Try it a few more times and if you can't get any further message me and I'll see if I can walk you through it
Thank you i got in but still have to become the owner

Thankfull you so much
Thank you thank you thank you
THANK YOU!!!!!!! in large shouty caps.
I screwed up my Samsung Tab E the other day, saw your workaround yesterday, and after a few tries I am in my tablet again this morning. I don't use it for much as I have other computers, but I do use it for a few things and having it rendered useless was a pretty big pill to swallow. I still need to make the new account the primary user, or get back in to the original account, but I'm going to leave that for right now. I'm just happy as HECK that i bypassed that gmail thing and got in. Wish I'd found your post right off the bat, but mostly just happy I found it at ALL. Many thanks!!!!!!!

The PG1 can be downgraded to T580UEU1APF5, then it will work. However, I have to create second user in order to switch to owner account.
A message will pop up which says " To use this tablet, you first have to sign in to an owner's google account in use on this tablet when it was last reset."
Reboot the tablet, it will go straight to owner's account. Remove any Google account before doing the Factory Reset, you're done.
I successfully bypassed FRP on 3 tablets by downgrade from PG1 ( released July 2016 ) to PF5 ( released June 2016 ) . The PL4 ( released Dec 2016) , QC2 ( released Mar 2017 ) will lock the downgrade attempt. This downgrade will work on the SM-T580 with firmware build PG1 or older.
Look at the last 3 characters of your build, the alphabetical order will tell the year and month
PG1
P= 16 or 2016
G= 7 or July
PG1= version 1, released on July 2016.
The PG1 can update to PL4 and use the method that can download Google Account Manager . This app allows to sign in with your own Google Account.
Be aware, each method will work with certain build and model, you should know more than one method to bypass FRP.

I've downgraded to PF5, done a factory reset and wiped cache. Followed the instructions and unplugged the router just as it finished "checking for updates". This gets me to the point where is says "there is a problem with the Google servers. Try again later." But when I click next, it just loops back to the "agreement" screen. What am I doing wrong?
edit: Or, can you point me to a post with the PL4 Google Account Manager method?

When downgraded to PF5, it should work but you have to use Personal Hotspot to quickly disconnect at the step checking Software Update.
Use your router is too slow for quick disconnect. Try again by using your phone connection, I also have done over hundreds for FRP Bypass by this method.
You only need Personal Hotspot to create first user with PIN, the rest no need internet connection to add second user. When finish the profile of second user, reboot.
Your tablet should boot to the welcome screen with PIN, unlock it then you're ready to do the Factory Reset. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes.
If it's not working, upgrade the firmware to PL4. I have done bypass FRP over hundreds of T580 or P580 by this method, guaranteed working.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73069388&postcount=43
This method is not working with Android 7, so don't try. The current Android 7, build QF1 can downgrade to Android 6, build PL4 with ease.

Well i have found a way to baypas all of that, sory for not writing corectly but im learning englisch!
So my method works on latest update and latest android version for sm-t580 that is Nougat 7.0
When you are blocked by google mesage that says that you need last used google mail before reset, go back to scren where you chose wifi network, and click create new, then when keyboard shows up, click on setings sign at botom.
Now you have a samsung keyboard writen i left uper corner, click on that so that you get one step back and now you should see 3 options, the second one should be Google Voice typing, click on that( you should be conected to internet before you get here), now on new menu click on YOUR FEED and activate it, it should show blue screen with some writing, and at bootom you have two options, SIGN IN and NO THANKS.
Select no thanks and it will take you on new scrren with search engine, from there type Samsung Knox apk, it will take you to internet and from there on try to find any latest version and download and install it, set up knox, create account, from knox setings on phone set knox as main usser, than make backup from phone, now login on my.samsungknox DOT com with same login as you created and used on knox on phone, now from website aces your device, and fully reset it, VOILA, after it reboots it will take you trought setup proces like new device but now your FRP google protection is removed.
I have spent 2 days figuring out how to aces and bypas this bu.sit on my device, like its my tablet , i have forgot my mail, so what now i need to depend on google to say whats mine what not, i share my method with you guys so i hope that i can help someone, if i helped im glad, you can clik thx or like what so ewer on this site and thats all.
BYE :highfive:
PS
One small hint, you can first install some custom louncher so it will be faster to doo all this..

No you dont need to downgrade, read my post above
I have an older phone of mine that runs windows Phone (probably 8). I noticed that the time resets every time when the battery is removed. The phone tells me that I should try again to unlock in 2 million minutes, which is about 4 years. How can I set the system time of the device without being able to unlocking it - or how do I unlock it without powering the phone permanently and waiting 4 years?
If I try to access the settings the screen brightness is reduced, but no options appear. The same reaction can be observed when trying to open the wifi settings. I don't remember my wifi configuration from the time when I used the device, so I cannot recreate a known wifi for the device to ntp itself. I don't want to give it uncontrolled Internet access by using a sim card (and i don't even know whether the phone would connect in the first place)

Which you think to know why? Do you really think that I (or someone else) would steal such a phone that is not worth anything? (I'm not even sure whether Windows Phone has theft-protection at all - at least I never heard of it.)
