It's been 76°F and humid and my device is getting over 100° now and having to be shutdown to cool off; I've had the same issue with my previous i537 which the touchscreen eventually died and I replaced it with a new one. This happens on stock ROM, any custom ROM and Samsung does nothing, AT&T just replaces it, that as you can tell hasn't helped which is why I'm asking for assistance.

I have done a reasonable amount of searching on this and have not found anything specific to my problem so figured I should post a question.
I have an issue with my Dimaond when it gets hot generally either using Wifi or Phone Data connection that the screen goes out. Basically everything goes to the left side of the phone so if you hit the Task Icon in the top right corner you get the Start Menu. Phone is basically useless at this point and you have to wait for it to cool down. Has happened since day one and is generally worse when using it when charging. I was watching Utube on it the other night 5min video while on AC charge and it went out. I am running Dutty 2.5 Rom and 25.07 radio have tryed 25.08 and 25.05 no difference was happening when the phone had orginal HTC ROM as well. Also will happen on a long call if the screen is on.
Basically feel issue is hardware related and maybe faulty screen still under warrenty so wanted to know peoples opinion on weather I should send back. Problem is will take a couple of weeks and I don't really wnat to wait that long if I can help it. Also assume it would be best to flash standard ROM back, should I do anything with HARDSPL eg should this be changed back as well if I send it back.
And before anyone says it I have tryed searching this topic and have found lots about HOT dimaonds but nothing related to screen going out at the same time :-(
Thanks
I had this issue in my JasJam (Hermes) whre the screen would simply go white after a while of use and I would have to leave it for a while for it to work again.
Unfortunately it sa hardware issue and you should claim a warranty repair on it
I can't see how this could be a software problem so I figured it must be the screen eg hardware related. Would be nice to know if anyone has had the same issue with a dimaond... Seems we may be spending some time apart, just hope it doesn't take long to fix..
I've had the same issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428976
My first device had been replaced recently (i.e. today) by my network provider (o2) and the new device seems to work without any problems now even if it's "hot".
(i.e. default screen adjustment + creating heat by activating the phone, wlan, bt + recharging it)
I sent an email to HTC regarding the fault and they said it would have to go back for a warrenty repair. I brought it through a resellar so has to go back to HK from NZ so will be away three weeks uurggghhh... Just seems odd I don't have any physical damage on the screen but hte problem has been around since day one as I remember having the problem the first day I got it. Juyst seems to be getting worse and is easily reproduced by usiung utube over wifi gets hot and it is all over. Just wondering if I should put an offical ROM from HTC back on the device before I send it back as I currenty am running Dutty ROM, what do you think....
i put the original rom back on and they still found out the the rom had been flashed, and would not repair on warranty
yep, i also asked about this problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438733
there are some youtube video's of how the phone behaves
my phone seems to do it less frequently since stopping using panosha's rom
im using alpha zero 7 at the moment..
i've also noticed that it isnt necessarily a heat issue, my phone does it completely at random
yesterday i found though, that when the phone did the alignment issue, i gave it a good shake.. and hey.. its all aligned again?!
maybe it was just a fluke, it hasnt freaked out since..
holding thumbs
Hey,
I also have the same screen problem, but my Alignment goes to right.
If I press on the left side, a press on the right side is recognized.
Good to know that Im not the only one with this problem.
greets doena
I got my phone back a week ago replaced the screen has been away for over two months, complete disaster, anyway all sorted now and I have not had the problem since....
I had this exact same issue (out of the box).
It was a hardware fault and I exchanged it for another one.
Haven't had any problems since.

Hardware's fault ? Most likely not. I will give u an example of why I think it was software related. My device ran hot as well but I simply switched roms and now it's the complete opposite. Your most recent device most likely come with a different Rom in the phone.
Hello all,
Just yesterday, I noticed something in my screen which I thought that it was a foggy screen from inside, so I thought that I'd leave the screen for the night, and let it dry. However, I woke up the next morning only to realize my screen stopped functioning, touch screen stopped working (please see attached files). Did someone experience a similar issue? Good thing I though squaretrade warrently when I bought the phone. I'm just worried they'll think its a physical damage. btw, should I restore everything to manufacturer settings? I installed ENERGY ROM. However, I wouldn't know how to do it since the touchscreen does not work.
Thanks in advance...
First, this looks like a collapsed digitizer.
You can try to pull the top layer away with duct tape, that might get you running again.
For warrant, if they refuse, fight them because it is a common issue with the Topaz. Search for "Newton Rings" or "Oil under screen" for many more posts related to this hardware failure.
You may want to flash back to stock before returning it, just to make sure they don't try to claim its software related.
To do this you would need to flash back to your stock ROM first, then go the the HSPL thread and and flash the relocker. You can do this without using your screen.
I would also take a good look at your warranty and if you can get away with permanently disabling it for a new device.
I'm glad I never bought the good looking TD2 and avoided all of this. There are tons of people complaining about this on the forum
Me too, I've only seen one Pure with this issue, but about 30% of Topaz with repeated failures even after repair.
Hi all,
having only had my phone for around 2 weeks tonight the inner screen of my phone has decided to crack whilst sat on the side doing nothing (Yes, I know, likely story but in my case it is true). Luckily Orange have been very good and are sending out a replacement handset tomorrow as it is still under warranty.
All good I thought, but I am now worried that I have to also send the handset back. It is currently running Darkys firmware and wondered if this is likely to be an issue. Also, the phone is configured for my work email and would like to remove this info before hand.
Any suggestions on how I quicky (and without a screen) return a phone to stock would be very much appreciated!
Cheers,
Michael

YES its broken the warranty depends upon how close they inspect the phone etc .
Post on a similar topic within the last two months re no screen
Normal method of returning to stock is .

Pull the Battery and reinsert it.
Get into the Download Mode.
Flash it with a Custom Kernel.
Unplug the USB during the Flashing Procedure
You will end up with a bricked phone which will force Orange to reinstall the firmware.
And as JJEgan said, it all depends upon how they inspect the phone. If they agree for a replacement, then its well and good. Orelse, you can try my method
by your post I gather you don't see anything on the screen. If this is true, why worry. Orange techs will not be able to see what firmware you are running if the screen does not work.
They are not going to install a new screen to see what stuff you have on your phone.
I bought my phone off of the online classifieds, so I thought there was no warranty.
I was having a problem with the USB port not working properly as I got some mushroom soup (Don't ask) in the port. I figured since I do not have any warranty I will take the phone apart and see what I can do. I cut the top of the metal shield off with a Dremel tool and cleaned the USB port out really well. It did work after this, but about two weeks later my internal SC card died.
I brought the phone into Samsung service center and to my disbelief, they replaced the phone, no questions asked. I guess they didn't even open the phone.
I wouldn't worry.

So i bought a broken s3 lte for cheap, and the screen is faulty
The problem is that the screen has an upside down T shape in white on the screen, occasionally the T will vanish and the screen will be perfect. I have taken the phone apart to undue the screen cable and reconnect on the off-chance that the connection could be faulty. It all appears like a dry joint issue??
The phone is under Samsung warranty but when i asked the chap whom i bought it from he said that he tried to return the phone but Samsung stated that the screen was water damaged??? On opening the unit all the stickers have no bleed on them at all, but that the speaker had some mild rust appearance??
I need help in ascertain if there is a simple fix like a new ribbon for the screen or if a totally new screen is required and I pay samsung £120 quid, which I won't be doing as it is a false economy
Warranty is void you took it apart .
Have you tried wiping the phone and flashing firmware .

Updated the software this afternoon and that seemed to help a little. Then it got worse again.
I have factory reset the phone with a cache wipe and that seems to have really helped but for how long I don't know??
Flashing firmware but whose? I did get this phone primarily for cyanogenmod but that is because they do provide an easy upgrade pathway
thanks
Hello guys long time member never posted much, I've used the forums to root/unlock/install custom roms with no issues since I've had the phone.
The problem I'm facing is I've recently replaced a cracked and broken back panel, but now my phone won't boot unless connected to a charger. I have had zero problems with the phone aside from some overheating here and there, I'm wondering if maybe I heated up the battery too much and killed it or maybe I accidentally heated up a part inside the phone it's self. I've searched all over the forums and on google and can't find anything pertaining to battery or phone damage while replacing the panel, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some much needed light on the issue.
If it's of any relevance I was running 12.1 yuga candy 5 rom when I did it and it was running fine aside from an annoying rebooting and optimizing apps bug.
There is no water damage anywhere on the phone except for in the headphone jack which happened shortly after I got the phone over a year ago.
One more small detail, after I pulled off the broken panel there was a tiny screw that was undone and stuck to the adhesive tape, it came from underneath the camera lens on the left side. I was confused as to how it would have unscrewed it's self like that but I did put it back in, could it be that the screw wasn't meant to be there in the first place but they left it inside the phone due to laziness?
Hoping for some feedback or some type of help thank you greatly in advance to anyone.
Edit----
The phone is now on but turns off when disconnected from the charger, but it does show that the battery is taking the charge, what the heck could this mean?
