How can I reduce msm_hsic_host wakelock - Sony Xperia ZR

It drains my battery.I know it cannot be eliminated, but how to do reduce it to a acceptable amount.Thanks.
Tapatalked from Xperia ZR

There is no "acceptable amount". I suggest to leave it, if you like your phone connected, and look for the real reasons for draining your battery.

But it's waking my phone 30percent of the time. Can't it be solved?
Tapatalked from Xperia ZR

Well, yes. Turn on Flight mode, it should be solved But if you want your phone to have cellular connection - then just leave it be and check for the reasons instead.
As I wrote somewhere before, this phone has amazing battery life, if you have something else - make sure you have an original battery and from that point check your apps and make sure your cellular reception is acceptable. Leave the OS alone, it does a good job.

Thanks for your advice.[emoji1] And how to find out apps which triggered cellular reception? Is betterbatterystats ok?

I noticed the same thing, will it change the battery life if we change the Baseband? Have any ideas?

The battery drain is propably caused by a service called fast dormancy. When The service is active while your network provider does not support the service, it causes a lot of wakelocks.
On my old xperia Ray the service can be disabled by editing the build.prop file. Somewhere on xda I have read that you can make a blacklist of providers witch don't use the service.

Battery usage

Hi all,
First off, thanks in advance for any advice.
Second, if this wrong place or a better thread elsewhere, please let me know.
Now on to the question. My battery drain is quite significant.
Phone has been on for 11h 51min. Charge is down to 45%. Ok I can deal with that (still would prefer better) but my usage is what is baffling me.
It says the screen has used 47% of the battery usage. Screen ontime is 59mins.
Is everyone else seeing usage rates this high?
If it matters, mine is an Optus XXALI5 firmware.
Thanks again.
Pete.

Thanks winwiz.
I did read through that thread but did not think it was the same issue.
Just to confirm, fast dormancy is a screen issue and will minimise my screen battery usage.
Can I apply this fix without rooting phone? Want to keep it stock for a little while.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda premium
I think the phone has to be rooted.
Be careful though as I applied the fix as a test and my battery drain went down terribly. This is afaik becuase my network does support FD. Several users have commented in other threads that it is not Network dependant but from my tests it definately is.
Also I found that my phone became quite sluggish and do not remember doing anything else on it at the time. No big deal just re-flashed the rom and it back to normal.
Just sharing my experience and a word of caution.
EDIT: FD is not connected to the screen, it is a way the phone handles the radio in connection with the network by putting it in to a sleep state if there is no activity.

Fast Dormancy is definately Network dependant. So you really need to find out if your network supports it. Because if your network does its better to leave it on
get betterbatterystats and have a look at what's draining your battery. the screen will almost always have the highest usage percentage, it's a hungry beast.
i'm guessing your phone isn't going into deep sleep properly.
install betterbatterystats, charge the phone to 100%, use it normally, and then in betterbatterystats use the dump to file option and attach it here and i (or someone) can take a look at it.
my initial suggestion without seeing BBS would be to try disabling LTE - just use WCDMA only (or GSM only) and see if that helps. LTE is a real battery drainer.

[Q] Wi-fi and Battery relation

Hey guys I got a question;
My wi-fi router seems to be broken, wi-fi signal drops too often (not just on my one, it also happens on my nexus 7 and one s so I think it is broken). My question is; does that make battery drain faster? I mean phone is constantly having on and off wi-fi.
Does the whole network get no data incoming, or are you connected to a WiFi that drops it's connections but still broadcasting it's SSID?
I loss incoming data completely. It happens to often, I mean maybe 6-7 times in a minute. And I noticed my phone's battery draining too fast even without me making a call or using an app or anything. So I suspected if that broken wi-fi causing it. If it is not my battery might have some problem too, which I hope not.

WiFi shouldn't drain any more than usual if incoming data is lost as long as you remain connected to the WiFi. I might be wrong though. Install GSAM Battery Monitor and see what's draining your battery the most. If you need a more detailed one, try Better Battery Stats (it's free for XDA users, it's in the App forum )

I can't find it.
And the thing is im not connected to wi-fi all the time, that's the problem. Maybe dropping off and connecting back all the time causes battery to drop low faster than usual, that's what I'm wondering.

As long as you can see the WiFI logo on your phone it shouldn't matter whether there is a connection or not for battery drain.

Then yes it will drain. Your router is dropping the network as well as the connection, so that will drain a lot of battery cos the phone is constantly scanning for available networks when your router is down.

Drain battery on Xperia SP

Helllo, I recently bought my Xperia SP. I really like this phone. I didn't have any problem (wifi). From the first time I bought my phone, I noticed that my battery is draining too fast. I loose every night about 20% battery. Data and wifi are closed and STAMINA mode is turned on. Do you have any solution about this problem? Sorry for my English and Thanks in advance!!
A few people have complained about this, but for me, with stamina on, standby battery life is superb.
Wakelock detector is available in the Play store - this is a useful tool for seeing what's happening to your phone when the screen is off. With WiFi and data on and the screen off, my phone is only awake 6% of the time and it's mostly Facebook (terrible app) doing things.
With the screen off I might only drop 1 or 2% whilst I'm asleep.

Besides that it seems that an enabled Google Now is leeching a lot of battery too.

2. What firmware?
3. What baseband?
4. What kernel?
Give us a lil info about what u have in your hands :fingers-crossed:
Well now I unistalled facebook. I'm using stock rom with the latest firmware (.245), without root. I don't have enough apps. Only facebook/twitter and some games. I installed wakelock detector and i saw that facebook is doing the most battery usage.
me either, this sucks, i did a factory reset 2 days ago, at first it was fixed,
but then the wakelocks came back next day, it's the superstamina-xssm again, also with the most alarm

And if I sleep usually I will turn on airplane mode, so maybe whole only 1-2% of battery is been taken
I don't know what happening. my battery is draining so fast. With stamina mode on and everything ese closed I usually loose 15-20%!!! I disables Facebok app but nothing, Battery is still draining!

have you done any changes in the wifi setting stated in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2378862

No I didnt done any changes to wifi settings because I didn't have any problem with my Wifi!! I just clean cache on Eco Mode and I will see how battery is going!
i had peretty gud battery life , about 6-7 hrs of sot with wifi on all the day and lots of whatsapping . but now somehow suddenly stamina mod stopped working and getting lots of awake by whatsapp even it is greenified
Same problem here
Xperia SP battery backup is fine when i am using it. But when everything is off and stamina is on at night, i usually lose about 25% of my battery with cellular on overnight !!! But in airplane mode, stamina mode works fine. Only 0%-1% battery drain overnight. I didn't exclude anything in stamina mode. And i always keep my mobile data, wifi off when sleeping. I also checked battery stat but nothing is out of ordinary. But i think cell standby is consuming the power as everything is normal in airplane mode. But why do this happens to me when so many others are fine with cellular on? And the question is, how do i decrease the excess battery consumption by cellular mode when cellular mode is on and mobile data is off? It doesn't make any sense. Any solution for this weird problem? Help me please, this thing is driving me crazy. It takes more then an hour to charge 25% I am not rooted, bootloader locked, completely stock .205 and i have tried flashing and restoring via sus but nothing works. I even formated my internal memory and sd card I am using Xperia SP for about 10 months and stamina mode never worked for me :crying:

Alright i have sorted it out kinda... When um using settings -> GSM/WCDMA, the cell standby keeps draining battery. But when i select GSM only, the battery doesn't drain, lost only 2% over night with stamina on. But i ask this, how the hell am i supposed to use 3G data when the GSM only setting is selected ? Also another thing, the phone is intended for USA market(the customization is customized US). I bought it from Bangladesh and using in Bangladesh. Does this battery drain has to do anything with different Baseband version maybe ? I don't really know anything about baseband and stuff, just a guess. Anyone can help me in this matter ? Shall i flash an Generic INDIA rom ? Because Bangladesh is located besides India...
I have the same problem, maybe its a wrong baseband?

My question exactly. Look at my post (up). My XSP is made for usa market and i am using it in Bangladesh. Maybe that is what causing the battery drain when i use WCDMA/GSM and WCDMA only. But in GSM only, battery life is fine. Not even a single percent battery drain over night. Very huge difference. Now i am downloading a generic indian .ftf to check if it is because of different intended market or not... I will let you know as soon as i am done checking...

I think you can do it as soon as the both rom(4.1 and 4.3) are intended for the same market as the one you are using right now... Because they both will have the same baseband i think. But then, it would make no sense to flash the same baseband. I am not sure though. I am not a developer. You better check with some expert before messing around with baseband....
Yeah, im using an european modded rom on a latinamerican country. Will try New baseband as soon as i have some spare time

No actually combine network activity with cpu activity and the display can become the lesser evil.

thanks for the info!
How do I combine network activity with cpu activity?
Is there a thread reagarding this?
Note: I am not quite sure whether this works.
I use Tasker to do the following:
Profile>Status>Display off
In-Task>Network>Mobile Data 2G/3G>only 2G
Out-Task>Network>Mobile Data 2G/3G>prefer 3G
But there is no option choosing LTE. (This is for my GT-I9505 which is capable of LTE)
I can only enable or disable LTE via secure settings plugin,
but if I enable LTE via Out-Task won't this interfere with the In-Task?
Or what do you mean by "combine network activity with cpu activity"?
Please help a noob out
I mean when you have the network and cpu working hard it quickly eats the battery.
There are many reasons why a phone would use the battery aggressively and it's sometimes a pure pain to track down what or why.

Tremendous battery drain on WIFI

Hey guys, I am running stock 4.0.3 rooted with supersu and using the latest franco kernel. I am getting massive drains even while using the phone on wifi and keeping it on standby, while connected to wifi. Getting drains about 3.3-4% per hour on standby on wifi. This is absolutely crazy. I tried some older suggestions mentioned here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62074306&postcount=118 . But even that doesn't work. Battery drain is normal on mobile data, but when connected to wifi it absolutely goes crazy. Can anyone provide any insight? There are no rogue apps, I have been checking through better battery , wld , accu battery, etc.
You've probably already turned it off, but I'll just point it out in the rare instance, but make sure scanning is off. However, I did notice that you said it is when wifi is on and your phone is sleeping when you get that drain. A fix is to go into wifi settings and under "Keep Wi-fi on during sleep", pick the only plugged in option. Ideally, you should get to the bottom of this issue, but if you don't have the time and no one else figures it out, this may help.
EDIT: I wonder if smart wifi switcher has anything to do with it? Wifi connectivity fluctuates and if you have two connections that have very similar signal strength, would your phone constantly switch between the two networks in a futile manner? If this does happen, I can see that draining your battery significantly, but this is based on the premise that the switcher does not have some type of buffer zone where it does not switch if the difference is negligible.

Yep, I always keep scanning off! And i did try with that suggestion too, I changed the setting to never and it still drained battery. Wifi stayed on for sometime even though i set it to never and then finally turns off after a period of time, but i think that could potentially drain more battery? Are you using wifi all the time? What are your stats?
I have all those settings turned off, smart switcher, ipv6, scanning, etc

Last thing I can think of is trying to use stock kernel to see if it is FK that is the culprit. FK shouldn't be the issue, but perhaps something screwed up during the flashing process? Now I'm essentially just asking you to do trial and error

It's most likely not just you, but based on my perusal of the 3T forums (especially on the FK thread because that's most relevant to how you set up your phone), not many people are facing this issue. Does betterbattery stats not show anything funky or out of the ordinary? Can you post a screenshot of your betterybattery stats including the kernel wakelocks, alarms, and partial wakelocks page?

I'm beginning to think it's not wifi, but the app Saavn. It may act differently when on wifi vs on cellular data and remain active constantly when on wifi. I google searched the app and its potential of being poorly optimized app, and there are reports of it never turning off and running in the background. If that is the case, it should be showing up on BBS as more of a drain, but for some reason it isn't. Still, try uninstalling the app and see what happens.
In the end, if this doesn't solve the issue, I'm beginning to think a factory reset maybe in order. I wish you also gave me BBS alarm wakeups page because that would help see if Saavn is constantly firing off alarms or not.

I don't have any option to turn off wifi calling in there. I am running the beta 7.1.1 now though. But the problem still persists. Too much drain when using wifi, it's being shown as android system drain. I've seen many people reporting it, so it's not just me. But for the life of me, I can't figure out what's causing it!
Issue resolved with latest 4.1.0 and some usage pattern changes. Mod, please close the thread. Thank you!
