I'm a new ZR owner, and I'm looking forward to the water resistance of the phone. Are there any suggestions for a screen protector that won't go wonky if I submerge the phone?

Is the screen protection same as Xperia go or its improved? Shatter proof and scratch resistant glass? Does IP5X cerifications n all contribute to that?... they say Xperia Z will survive an type of drop from hands from pocket height or shoulder height n all... will that be same for xperia ZL ?
Screen protection is supposed to be a lot better - people believe Z uses Dragontrail glass which is very good - although it hasn't been confirmed. IP certifications only state the phone is dust/water resistant, it has nothing to do with its resistance to fall damage. There are tests showing that Z really does survive a fall - thanks to tempered glass and glass fiber body - but we have to wait for real life tests. ZL should be the same, it uses the same glass i think.
Hope that the glass on back side of Z is also of same material... i will not want cracks on back side . Xperia go was pretty strong though ... any improvement over that is massive. Thing is i have not heard any such comments about Xperia ZL. I doubt they both use different materials for protective glass... Company and material is still secret
It's been confirmed that it uses the same glass on both front and back so no worries there
So I got my Xperia Z like a week ago and just bought the Roxfit bumber with scratch resistant protectors.
The shatterproof protector already has quite a lot of scratches in front and rear.
I was wondering if its better to remove the shatterproof protector and apply the scratch resistant ones?
Also if I apply them on top of the shatterproof protector, is it possible to cover/fix the scratches that are visible on the screen?
I applied a scratch resistant protector on top of the shatter proof one, because the pre applied shatter proofing layer is very prone to scratches. Then I have a soft touch slim case all over it. No problems.
Anyone know of good retailers that specialize in putting on screen protectors with no zero dust particles or bubbles on the Xperia Z? I upgraded from an iPhone 4s last week and I cannot even get this thing even near perfect on my own. I've been putting on screen protectors myself for the past four years on the 3gs and 4s 100% perfect with no dust or bubbles. This thing is just too big and the already added screen protector by Sony is extremely difficult to clean.
Hi there,
Since this is your first post, maybe you should tell first where are you from? In this way people from your area could help you .
But maybe this will help you how to put screen protector on by yourself:

The trick for perfect sticking of any screen protector is the use of soapy water. Just take some water (50-100 ml) and mix it with a drop of liquid soap. Then wet your fingers, wet the display, peel off the protective layer from screen protector (with wet fingers) and gently put it over the screen. The soapy water allows you to reposition if any misalignment. After alignment is ok, start squeezing out the water from the center to exterior. After max. 1 or 2 days (complete dryout) you have perfect screen protector applied without being an expert.

Nice tip memtronic, will try that next time.
Guys, does the z3 compact has any anti shatter film or the film thingy after the front glass? Becuase i noticed my front glass has a small stragiht line about half an inch from the side of the screen. Its just like a crack and when i use my nails it feels its somehow cracked. So im wondering if its a film cover that has been scratched on top of the glass or is it already the glass.
as far as I know it doesn't have a film no... So it's probably a scratch on the glass itself :-/
Hate to resurrect an old thread, but Xperia Z3s do have a plastic anti-shutter film. I bought a device with a cracked screen. The crack was so small that I thought it was on the film. So, I removed it, but the crack was underneath,. By the way, unlike on Z1 and Z2, Z3 screen film leaves a horrible glue residue that CANNOT be removed by alcohol or any other glue thinner: tried them all. Since I didn't need the original screen, I tried to scrub some spots with a scalpel. It worked without damaging the original glass, but to clean the entire screen would take the whole day. So, thank you, Sony, again... for making a glass screen covered with cheap plastic.
I bought an after-market display: I didn't use generic sticky, but instead applied B7000 adhesive glue. I bought a bottle with a fine metal tip; put a thin layer of glue on the frame; let it sit for 2 minutes, and then set the screen applying little pressure. After that, I put the phone under about 20 pounds of book weight and let it sit overnight. I am not sure about waterproofing, but it looks and feels like the screen has become a part of the frame: no movement, no squeaking at all...
Hi guys!
I apologise if this is in the wrong section, this is my first post.
I just applied a Ultimate Shield Tempered Glass Screen Protector.
I used a recommendation I saw on this forum to run a hot shower to avoid dust going under the protector.
What's happened now is that it's visible when the screens off, that moisture is visible under the protector, from the humidity of the bathroom.
Will this go away with time? Can this affect the screen? I don't really want to remove the protectors, as it's brand new with no air bubbles.
Cheers,
Alex

It should go away after some time I hope. I had no problems when applying my nilkin 9H tempered glass screenprotectors and it is fully waterproof! Unless you didn't apply it correctly and the screenprotector accidentally lifted up you might have to move it! With most of these screenprotectors, you can remove them and re-apply them without the glue being destroyed

Thank you I probably won't remove it as there is no air bubbles etc. Just a bit of an OCD thing haha ?
I did use a hairdryer on it for a bit but it didn't go away. It kinda looks like oil as well.
Thanks,
Alex
