You cannot flash a custom recovery or custom ROM on the i537 because the bootloader is locked.

It's not possible, because the i537 will check to make sure the files are signed with the proper i537 signature. You can try to flash it, but it will simply fail.
I was wondering would it be possible to an older kernel from 5.0.2 on the Tmobile Galaxy s6 with the 5.1.1 firmware and bootloader in odin if we could do this then we could just use pingpong root with the older kernel and root it.
Nope.

Ok, ok well then couldn't we flash system.img, boot.img and the recovery.img from the 5.0.2 tar in odin and not the bootloader then root that?

And why "nope" because the kernel will see kernel not seandroid enforcing or because you think it simply wont work, the developer said that it effects the kernel so maybe that is what the exploit is in.
As the thread states....has anyone tried to flash stock DOK2 firmware from the new MM update? I have searched and asked many questions but have not gotten a solid answer. And if no one knows or no one has tried yet, would someone who had already taken the update be willing to try flashing stock DOK2 firmware? For developmental purposes. Thanks in advance. ?

Root works perfectly fine. Use SuperSu Systemless root. I believe the version number is 2.74-2. It's the latest beta if I'm not mistaken.
First use ODIN to get TWRP onto the device and then flash the supersu zip like usual.
I was thinking of just using flashfire to flash BL and modem only then install the rom..that way it doesnt overwrite recovery... bad idea ?

I was able to downgrade to DOK2 but I only flashed the bootloader & modem file not the entire firmware
If you flashed BL then we are good. I wonder if the MM bootloader is like n910G.....they couldn't go from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 but when they got 6.0.1 they were able to got back 2 steps to 4.4.4.like a magical BL unlock ha

What files did you use? I tried flashing the entire dok2 firmware through Odin and kept getting stuck in a bootloop. If I could just flash those 2 files that would be great.

I have downgraded from a full PE3 to OK2. Worked fine.
Awesome...that makes me feel safer...I might try to odin nk4 later just for ships and giggles haha
does anyone know if you can downgrade from MM PE3 to KK ANK4? I know that you can't go from DOK2 to ANK4. Love firekat too much

I had a T-mobile Note 4 (N910T) on 5.0.1 , downgraded to KitKat 4.4.4, when Lolipop 5.1.1 came out I upgraded. rooted, and then flashed custom rom Tekxodus .. phone used to restart randomly .. later discovered that once you upgrade OK2 you get locked and no longer can downgrade to KK.
later on, the phone started to give mmc error and then just died.
Lesson Learned, stay on 5.0.1 or downgrade to 4.4.4 and stay there.
I still wonder if Android 6.0.1 Locks down the downgrade process to 4.4.4. I doubt it will allow it.

Ok. You just downgrade, but I have a question.
After you flashed BL and CS, you still have to flash the firmware, right? So, I have to have the firmware OK2 too, right?

Yea if you want everything to be OK2 but its not necessary....if you are gonna use twrp, u dont need to odin recovery....and if you are gonna use a custom rom instead of stock then you dont need to odin system...so basically anyone with twrp and a custom OS is only using BL and Modem
But i always just flash it all just to be thorough....

i try to flash all version TWRP and CWM for s4 active via ODIN but always failed. i try flash .img file via app TWRP Official, Rashr, Flashify and failed again
can s4 active sgh-i537 install TWRP or CWM ? need to UBL ?
if not, how to fix my problem ?
Thankyou for help, and sorry for bad english.
The i537 had a locked bootloader, it is not possible to flash custom recovery. You can only flash 2 ROMs in the development section through FlashFire. If you want an unlocked bootloader you need to buy the i9295.

True, but I doubt this is would help him accomplish his goal in the end. Yes it is recovery, but if he is trying to install one of the ROMs meant for the i9295 he's going to be out of luck.

Very true. But I prefer safestrap over flashfire, because its safer in the long run.
