I agree. Stock it isnt that great, definitely with the bing. Not a bad phone stock tho, i used it stock for about a month.
But once you root and put gingervolt on it, it is amazing. Mt has done some great things with this phone. (and root is easy now with his kit in development section)
The LG Revolution has very little community support. I wouldn't get it if you like having the latest in Android. Get a Nexus phone instead.

The LG Revolution is a very good phone. It has a terrible draw back, it doesn't have anything to make it a "flagship" phone. It doesn't have expansive speaker sound. It doesn't have wicked gadgets and dodads. It isn't the thinnest, the lightest, it doesn't have the best screen. Honestly, if you want a phone mentioned above, they are out there. What this phone is, is a phone. But what this phone has, that no other phone has: fans. It has the most loyal fan base of any phone I have ever seen. I have had many phones, and the forums, and the dedications to the development of this phone, are beyond anything you can imagine. And a lot of these guys have never developed until this phone. If these guys were not here, there would be no LG Revolution today. But through, their hard work, dedication, and our desire to want more, the LG survives. LG knows this, they know we are here, I hope they use it as inspiration to create a better phone.
The phone has no major issues. The phone is easy to unlock, get in, and rom away. It is a treat to be able to flash something new, in 5 minutes. Unfortunately, because this is not a "flagship" phone, there is a limited number of developers. But there is a plus to that: quality roms, themes, and mods.
I love my phone. I love the community. I have upgradeitis (to be unhappy a day after owning a product, and a desire to buy bigger and better) (my wife hates it) but I am completely happy with this phone. I don't know how many days I have until I can get a new phone, because I don't care. I am more than fine with using this one, until I get piss ass drunk and destroying it in a mad rage. (story is for dramatic purposes only)
Pretty bad I would say. Especially if you already have a Droid Charge. It has crappy stock software and an overall unrefined feel that usually comes about with LG Android phones. Not even close to being worth wasting an upgrade on especially with all the nicer phones available. Honest opinion lol

And honestly, from the Charge, you are looking at a step up in looks alone (Charge is dang ugly) but mostly it would be a step over, if you remain in stock.
I bought this phone for two reasons: cnet had a review, that compared it to the iphone. (although, it really doesn't beyond the surface, I think the iphone has a better core system) And with in a day, it was opened and unlocked. With in a week it was Superoneclicked. That kind of openness has not been seen for awhile.
If you choose to wait.. I would wait until the Googlrola comes out. Android is all about being open, I would hope that their phone would be as well. It may be a bit, Tmobile, and Sprint will have first crack at a completely Google phone. Until then, you could have this gem.
So I just looked up Motorola in the news, and they are already planning for the RAZRMAX, it will have a better screen than the Samsung Galaxy, and a bigger, better battery.
Some may call me crazy, but I actually upgraded to the Revo from an iPhone 4 and never looked back.
The community, the ease of modifying, and general fun-ness of the phone really made me happy.
My one major complaint about the phone is the poor battery life.
Good programs exist to help out with that, they just don't play well with the phone.
Other than that, I have never regretted the move.

Indeed, but to my recollection, it was notable compared to the Iphone in that department. There are programs, and over and under clocking that can be done. Like I told MT, I just did the Gingervolt 1.3 and the new kernel, and I have a really good battery life. With in the next couple weeks, as Android learns, it will get better.

Well, I don't think any of us have the original home screens. As far as me, I run gingervolt 1.3, Mt has screen shots on the development pages. And then I am using meezys theme? I should really put that in a signature so I can remember. Its either that, or indys.

So there's no possible way on earth this phone isn't the greatest device ever made? And your opinion is a fact where mine is "attributed to drug use?" That's pretty childish I think.
I've used the Charge, HTC Thunderbolt, Droid X, Droid 2, Droid 1, Incredible, Fascinate if i'm remembering all. Did you just upgrade from a LG Dare or something? In comparison with these and other phones the Revolution just feels cheap and unrefined. Look anywhere on people's opinions of LG android phones. They aren't exactly in the highest regard. But that probably won't matter to you since someone with opposing views must be on drugs.
It helps looking at things objectively, just because you use this phone doesn't make it great. Also stop writing off your opinions as facts, and let the person decide.
OP get the Galaxy Nexus if you want something that will actually have the current software and will be supported in a timely manner. Also it's a polished and smooth device as evident by the reviews. A future proof device worth upgrading to I would say.
The revolution is the worst of the big screen LTE phones on Verizon. Anyone telling you different is fooling themselves so they can be happy with it. I highly recommend not getting it. In fact I'll ask you not to get it, as I dont want to see Verizon or LG make another dollar off it. Many people have already jumped off board and many others wish they could.

Okay, All the people on here ripping this phone apart. No right now I wouldn't get this phone again given the choices I have of other LTE phones that have been released since this phones inception. If I went back to when I got the phone there is no other option for me. I think the Charge just looks like a piece of junk (if you like it go for it and buy it). The Thunderbolt is HTC and I'm just anti-HTC because of sense. With the phones out now I would either get the Droid Bionic or wait another month or 2. I don't want the Galaxy Nexus because the storage isn't removable (it's either that or the battery. Either way that's no go for me.) The RAZR doesn't have a removable battery so another no go for me there too. Who knows what will be out in a few months. Above all else OP get what you want. Go to the stores and play with each phone for some time to get used to it. Also, don't forget that Verizon lets you switch phones as long as you do it within a week. At least they used too. I hope this was helpful
If it was today, I wouldn't get this phone.. just like all hardware, new and improved hardware is delivered every day... but when I did get this phone back in the summer, I wouldn't have chosen anything else.. I picked it over the iPhone, over the thunderbolt, and over the charge... several things made me pick it.. the big screen, Netflix( at the time it was the only phone with Netflix.. ) and finally, IMO,it has the most responsive touch screen I have ever seen.. my gf likes it much better than her thunderbolt..
If you can get this phone for under 150 I would still get it today, even with the lte lineup.. it is much better than a lot of their premium phones and 100 times better than their cheap lte android phones..

Don't waste upgrade on this phone!!!!!!!! GNEX is coming out on Dec. 9 and the RAZR is awesome itself. You will regret getting this phone once you see how the razr and gnex work. They are both clean and fast. If the gnex has a better radio than previous Samsungs, it will be the bees knees.
So, a little bit of background... I'm on AT&T with a Galaxy S4. AT&T has the bootloader locked up tight so I can't get rid of any of the bloat, or try other ROMs. I was thinking about selling it and going for a Moto X or a N5 but I shied away from the N5 due to camera, battery, and speaker issues. I like the idea that the X is assembled in the US and stuff but mainly I want a phone I can tinker with.
I understand by leaving the S4 I'd be downgrading in screen quality, processing power, IR blaster and camera. I'm not really a phone gamer so I don't know that I'd need all that power. I've heard the X can hold its own in the realm of processing speed and screen but the camera is probably the biggest drawback.
Is it worth it? Convince me. I'm thinking hard about Monday's sale. I want the unlocked DEV ED version but I'd rather be able to motomaker it. If I were to get the AT&T one off contract, would it come branded and locked? Can I load a custom recovery, etc? Thanks for your help.

Why not? I should explain my definition of "tinker". I am not a programmer and I don't build my own roms. I just like using others and more customization.
This phone barely has ROMs. It doesn't really need any because it is a stock android experience. If you do want to tinker, the N5 would be a better option. However I prefer the Moto X (had both.)

It isn't needed on this phone. The S4 needed it because it was so laggy and touchwiz ruined pretty much everything.

Why do you prefer the Moto X? Will I miss not having CM support or many other roms?
In my old android age(started with cupcake) I am looking for a flawless experience, I have been through the crack flashing and modding stages and I can tell you the Moto X is the phone I will be keeping for a long time. The reason people are not building custom roms is that they are not needed. The android experience is amazing. I have had no lagging what so ever and believe me I have tried to cause lag. Yes on paper it is slower than a S4 but in real world performance it is what I think android users have been looking for. The Battery is amazing. My wife who uses her phone almost all day for work commented that she did not have to charge her phone at all during the day and still had about 35% when she got home. The camera on this phone is great. Again if you get down to the paper specs the S4 is probably better but in real world performance the camera is great. Make the jump my friend, you will not regret it.

Personally all I like from CM are battery percentages & customizable tiles. Very minor things compared to the features of the moto x: active notifications, touchless controls, camera gesture. Also I like AMOLED screen, size, speaker & design better than N5.
I came from a S2 that I ROM'ed the crap out of. As stated the Moto x doesn't need ROM"s but if, like me, you want a different battery, percentage, and a few other tweaks like center clock and different quick tile settings, then all that is needed is root, exposed framework, and gravity box.
Love this phone.
I'll be honest and say I've never believed in any of Samsung's Android products. I tell myself every single time Samsung releases a handset - the hardware's one of the best, but I wouldn't be caught dead being seen using that hardware and software. (I only got the Galaxy Nexus because, well, Nexus.) There. I openly declare my love for the stock Android experience, and even looking at the S4s my friends use there will be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from me whenever I have to use one.
But I digress. This phone is one of the purchases I have not regretted. Never mind the fact that I had snafus with payment from eBay that resulted in some US$100 taken from me for no reason, never mind the delay in shipping that was caused by a friend of mine, never mind the emotional trauma that I had to go through for a whole month before I got this phone. This is a phone where I can tell people it offers one of the best user experience, everything ranging from the software and its functions, down to the hardware and its design. (Hell, I'd go out on a limb and say this trumps the iPhone.)
In defense of my Moto X, the camera has substantially improved since the first version of software. I'm currently on a KitKat ROM of the Verizon variant, and I wouldn't shy away from using it anymore (though, yes, improvements surely can be made). If you're coming from an S4 (and I pray and assume that you've changed your ROM to something non-TouchWiz) you'll have to get used to the lower quality of photos, as well as the speeds granted by the phone.
Until now, I've never had the need to install anything to augment my experience. I haven't installed any of the Xposed mods yet, but I'm planning to soon as I'm missing some of the features granted by custom ROMs (slide down right for shortcuts, vibrate on call connect, etc). But beyond the addition of the features that Motorola actively promotes, such as its Active Notifications, Touchless Controls and Assist, this is going to be the most stock you'll ever get from a well-known phone company. This is how customization is done.
Well, now that I've expressed my love for the phone, I hope to see you joining the Moto X family soon. Now excuse me while I stop sounding like a complete Motorola fanboy. (But seriously, though. The way Motorola has leaped back into the game is nothing short of impressive.)

On the contrary. The AT&T version has a permanently locked bootloader (at least, until someone finds something to attack it). You'll need to look at other versions. I'm not sure about which spectrum the carriers in the US use, but your best bet would be the Developers' Edition. Or, if you can lay your hands on one (which is going at a pretty high price nowadays), Latin American versions will work too.

Heh. Enjoy! I love this phone. This is after paying almost 700-800 bucks on this phone, and being deprived of LTE usage. (The frequency band Singapore and Malaysia uses for LTE is not supported by the X.) Even then, the tradeoff is still worth it for me. Heh

I have to say compared to most other tablets out there I'm suprised that such a powerful tablet has so little development compared to the previous versions of this device.. Why is that?
And there I was thinking I had done pretty well. :cyclops:

I was unlocked and was running sdbags ROM but when I turned off my tablet after installing that it never turned back on so I'm apprehensive to root and install again, wasn't sure if it was rooting or hardware failure, I got this tablet because its killer hardware and a great deal, which is why I'm surprised by the lack of Dev support I thought this tablet would be far more popular,
I kinda figured I wasn't going to risk rooting again until there was a solid aosp ROM out there similar to what I'm running on my note 2

On my Droid 4 I have the choice between 5 or 6 roms and what am I running?
Modified stock... Why?
Because on each rom something is not working or buggy: keyboard or Bluetooth or docking support or auto rotation or......

Well that is all due to the problems this tablet has with the dock connection and build quality of it.
I guess between 60 and 75 % of all delivered tablets with dock suffered from that problem. I had 4 and due to that have none anymore. Will look at it again when proven the problem has been solved but reading that 2013.11 tablets still have the problem it is still a no go.
So many did send it back and went for another brand due to the fact that Asus sucks with officially acknowledging this problem.
Many times I was in contact directly with Asus in the Netherlands and they told me that they knew about the problem but Headoffice of Asus ignored it.
So guess what others users with this problem did with it........
Next to that in most countries in Europe you can only buy the combo with dock so no escape ordering only the tablet.
Result: not enough participation from users and no interests from dev's except Sbdags of course!!
The simple reason is this tablet doesn't sell well. Its look is kinda dated, it's thick bezel, heavy, short battery. The strength of having a dock got tarnished by poor build quality of the dock. I got mine for $350 after rebate from tiger direct. I'm willing to overlook the short comings and focus on the awesome screen, the crazy fast Cpu, near stock android 4.3. I just hope KitKat will come. I don't care if there are custom ROMs. It is what it is.

Me too. Device doesn't look dated at all IMO. Screen is gorgeous and that is what you use it for.
Another factor is whenever a tegra SoC gets mentioned on any sort of tech website it seems like there is always someone willing to say how much tegras suck a few dozen times. That can't be good for sales, as a lot of people do base their purchases off of the word of mouth surrounding the product.
For what they are, and what the competition offers, they really aren't a bad chip set at all, but a lot of people apparently feel burnt by the Tegra 3 based off the Tf700 and 300s, but that was more or less just the terrible I/O performance issues that should be blamed.
I agree with all of it. Asus is my choice of PC gear although my acer A500 never failed me. it just didnt have neon with the tegra 2. gave it to a buddy and its still kickin. now before this one i bummed my wifes old Transformer Prime TF201. Now that thing was garbage. This one is amazing. I would use a cardboard box as long as it ran like this and i could root it...the unlock bootloader tool is prime example of why I stick with Asus..they still have some linux left in em.

Every device thats new has issues to sort out.
Its was released in November. The gaming on this is fantastic. Just give DeadTrigger 2 a try. Crazy console qualifty gaming. More devs will come along. This Device is about double What the tf101 was. Considering the price. You get 32gb storage,High resolution, High performance tegra 4. Sound is fine. I think it might take a while but its the device to buy unless your going proprietary or want to shell out more cash and get less.

You can play NFSMW like you never saw it before. High quality reflections, dynamic lighting. Not what you would expect really. If you underclock it. You probably get that same quality and hardly notice anything. Would just run a bit cooler.

I don't mean to pick on you specifically, but it always cracks me up to see critiques of tablets and the like when they mention appearance. Even CNet reviewers will write a paragraph or two about the product's appearance. Seriously?! It doesn't match your shoes, so you don't want to be seen using it?! How very superficially Apple of them.
This is hands down the phone I've been waiting for! Perfect screen size with a great processor and stock android. This phone is fantastic. I've had soooo many phones in the past year it's insane. Galaxy note 2 and 3 galaxy s4 htc one Sony xperia z ultra HTC one again galaxy note 3 again and none have made me happy. Alot has to do with ask the bloat that those phones have. I don't know how to root devices and play with the software. All I've wanted was a nice die phone that's snappy and smooth with a nice size screen and stock android. I now have it and couldn't be happier. I'm a little scared as to how the battery life will be as I'm a heavy internet user but time will tell. Gonna order a wireless charger and case now.

If you're looking for a budget wireless charger that gets the job done and is a trusted name then purchase the Nokia DT-900 (it's about $25 from at&t) and if you're looking for one that tilts then get the DT-910.
I have the DT-910 and it's wonderful. Stay away from off brand chargers because it can damage you're phone or even cause a fire!
Welcome to this wonderful community and enjoy your Nexus 5!

Its normal to receive the Nexus 5 when you order a Nexus 5. Its not a lottery
I'd be really annoyed if I was waiting for a nexus 5 and something else arrived
+1 for dt-910

If you plan on rooting the device read the first 4 threads well in the General section before you do anything

Coming from N4 I know all I needed was to download the recovery.img and then start downloading roms. =w=
All you need is ADB/Fastboot

Sorry for not recognizing the sheer magitude of your wisdom, the N5 though will be flagged when unlocking/rooting which the N4 didn`t have, you can reset it though but i`am sure you allready know that
Your just to funny. Have you nothing better to do. I don't want to get thrown off the forum so I'll keep some of my choice words to myself.

Congrats! And Enjoy!
Activate ART for absolut Performance
To OP: Congrats on getting a great phone. I really would suggest unlocking and rooting to get the most out of the phone tho. Xposed + GravityBox really make the phone even better. With those you don't even need to go the custom ROM route.
To the people being DICKS in this thread: Really? Get a life.
Coming from a s3 and now got the nexus 5 I can't be happier no more lag or waiting a minate for my contacts to open and now its instant
Coming from S3 att with AOKP. I love everything except lose buttons and smaller grill mic and speaker. reading reading reading now before unlock/install/root.
I am not familiar with Xposed. should I go with roms or Xposed. I want my phone to be fast and just work.

What now?
I actually wanted to thank you for this though. I didn't know about the flagging issue until you mentioned about it. :highfive:
No worries, no harm done! Its always a good time for beer(or whiskey) !
Welcome to the club! I've owned a ton of handsets in the past few years and this is the only one I haven't rooted in the first week because it just works so beautifully as is. Haven't had one issue (other then loose power button, can't win em all). I get the itch to root and fiddle now and then but then I can't bring myself to do it as its just perfect for me as is. I'm sure eventually the modder in me will win out and I'll tinker with it to all hell and back, but for now, just enjoying the ride.

I'd definitely play around with Xposed before flashing a ROM. At least for me it has completely eliminated the need to flash any custom ROMs. I am stock rooted + Xposed on all 3 of my Android devices and I wouldn't have it any other way. GravityBox is the first module you should try, as it has a TON of features. You get the benefits of staying stock (stability, bug free) but get to add whatever features you want to your stock ROM. I can't stress how awesome Xposed is, and it really was a game changer for me.

Was just thinking that also.. Some people have nothing better to do than to bash others.
Anyways, have fun with your new toy OP You're definitely going to love having a Nexus
I have both the G4 and the S6, as you may or may not know the S6 is unlockable and has had root for a while now. Despite that, I have decided to keep my G4, the potential locked in this phone is way too much to give up on. Odd thing is, the G4
doesnt seem to have had its radios tweaked or optimized, the S6 is a touch faster both on WiFi and LTE. The downside is
the bloat ball called touchwiz. It's choppy and eats a TON of ram. UX 4.0 is far and away better. As far as the cameras go, the
camera on the G4 is faster at getting locked in on what i'm shooting, but when zoomed in, the picture almost looks like an
oil painting. Once we do eventually get the G4 unlocked, I hope we get a camera mod much like the one I had for the G3.
I'm also looking forward to viper4android, that's definitely a must have for Google music imo. Anyway, hopefully we'll get
our beasts unlocked soon.
I agree totally. I had the s6 for a while. It has some awesome features and the camera is great, but it always was buggy and the ram issue was horrible. The G4 may not be perfect but I am enjoying it a lot more than my s6.

I concur with both of you. I had the S6 Edge and sold it for the G4. I'm just surprised we not only don't have root yet, but that there hasn't really been any direct talk of if anyone is close. That is a big concern to me. From my experience, there are usually folks chatting about their progress (or lack thereof). Anyway, love the device so far....

i agree too on going with the G4, i sold my nexus 5 and got the G4 before i even checked in here to see if it was rootable/unlockable yet
and the reason no one is talking about it is that so many people come in here complaining about no root or not being able to unlock their phone yet, but it is being worked on and in fact the devs doing it have unlocked carrier phones (from what i have seen), they are just working on a way to make it easy for the general public to do it and to make sure there is a way back or at least a way to not brick your phone. plus LG is on here too so there isnt much chatter here so that LG doesnt patch what they are working on before they can even get it out to us
it will come i am sure of it
Me too, i find this to be this first device i could use without root, i would still rather have it than not, but i could own this phone long term without it. Glad to see a positive note and people having the same experience i am with the phone. I also was a former S6 owner, my wife has it now so i can really check them out side by side and its no contest, and thats with my wife on a custom rom.
I was thinking how far phones have come since I got my first Android phone back in 2012 (Mytouch 4G Slide) Some great ROMS on that old thing. I moved on up to a Nexus 4 from that. The so called professional review sites claim that the differences between the S6 and G4 cameras are so small that it's hard to pick a clear cut winner, but I tell you, the only flaw in the G4's camera is the over sharpening. The S6's camera software kinda sucks, the viewfinder looks grainy and the pictures aren't any better. The ram issue sealed it for me, the darn thing has 3gb of ram available, how does T/W use that much?
Wow, so sad to see no progress on root and twrp. I bought this device thinking I was getting the "full" flagship experience.

define full flagship experience?
[soapbox]
and just because no one is posting about it doesnt mean no one is working on it. give it time, dang, the phones only been out for 2 and a half months. thats the problem with xda these days, we are so hellbent on having root and being unlocked so we can void our warranty and flash firmware to our expensive devices for what? so we can say "hey look i unlocked my phone and flashed CM on it, take that LG, now my phone is not near as good as it was when i bought it"
LMAO

Love the phone but the jank is really starting to get to me. Picked up my N5 today and was shocked at how much smoother it was than my G4
Hi all, jumped the Sammy ship after some 3.5 years using Galaxy devices (latest was a S4). It's actually the first time I get a flagship almost when it's been released, and so far this phone seems like a great device. I'm not looking for custom ROMs yet, root would be nice, but as it stands it's an awesome Android flagship.

Glad to see some people are not afraid to state the truth. I have a g4 s6 nexus 5 and oneplus one now and the g4 is the slowest. Just sits on my desk. Is funny how oneplus one and nexus 5 feel way faster than the s6 and g4.

Biggest issue I'm having is with WiFi. I'm not sure if it just slows itself down or becomes unresponsive but there's something that's making my internet hang.
I had the same issue. I installed DNSet and my WiFi started working better

Same here. My One Plus is smoother and faster . Rooted Zmax is faster . Love the form factor of the G4 ,but text and mms issues are starting to annoy me to no end....
Because the N5 use stock android, the biggest advantage of the G4 is much longer battery life. For me it's matter because the battery on Nexus is non-swapable and battery life is not good.

Left the note 4 because of the crap camera taking forever to focus and the gps that never could find a signal. At first i thought i made a mistake because of the lag i was getting before updating to the new N update and i am not looking back. The g4, at its 479 price point is a monster
