Just wanting to make sure that we're able to take the ota and still use ioroot25 and freedom tool for root/recovery?

Not yet and that goes for towelroot also. You can root 24a and take the OTA with a stock recovery and still have root.

Not yet, if you need it now, roll back to 24A or earlier, root it, leave the stock recovery then take the OTA.

VS980 Official 24A KDZ

Using this method you can manually update your phone and it downloads the 24A KDZ to your PC. The KDZ stacks up to 2gb. I haven't completed the install yet (using hotspot to download KDZ on laptop), but I would assume this does a complete factory reset. Will update when I have completed it.

I know you want to do this, but I'd think about it. It's possible you'll lock your device down. I'd wait til the devs get this first. And look for news from them that it's safe and you can downgrade if needed. My 2 cents.

While there is a good chance it will still work. It might not. But if it didn't root would be obtained soon most likely. The bigger worry is the boot loader. No custom recovery potentially. If last minute stuff was added etc... Might be fine. But I wouldn't take a chance on locking my device til I was sure. S4 been locked since July. Many a tear over there for taking ota.

Good to know. I went ahead and restored to 10B via TOT method (I had the intial hacked 24B without the kernel and what not). Performed the update via KDZ per Droid Life article and lost root. Re-rooted via IORoot25 and all is up and running. I'm content with Google Experience Launcher and Hotspot hack. Might try and flash TWRP via the previous 24A methods.

There's an app called autorec that takes care of the recovery on official kit Kat. I manually installed OTA and have twrp. I'm also running a stock kit Kat kernel with linaro.

Step 1: Download and install LG Unified Driver for Windoze PC
Step 2: Download the 2GB VS98024A file on your PC and move the file into LG PC Suite directory
Step 3: Put your phone in "Download mode" (see Youtube video link above)
Step 4: Download and install LG PC suite and follow its directions (see XDA link above to learn how to use LG PC Suite)
Step 5: Profit
Oh, and it helps to RTFM :silly:
The file has been approved by Verizon. Just saw it on my phone but it's not 2gb, more like 690mb.

http://www.lg-phones.org/sprint-rolls-out-ls995zv9-ota-update-for-lg-g-flex.html
Sprint is rolling out a minor over-the-air firmware update to its version of the LG G Flex. LG G Flex owners on the “Now Network” should find the LS995ZV9 update to hit their devices now. Here’s what to look forward to when the update finally drops.
This software update includes:
New PRL (51103)
update Google Security Patch
Google Market Store update 4.4.2
R5Radio Player improvement
Wi-Fi Calling improvement
Wi-Fi is required to download the update. You can wait for the notification to arrive on its own, or you can try your luck requesting it down manually. More specific instructions are available at Sprint’s support page.

Try simply installing this and if it still does not work then wipe the cache and data of supersu remove the version you have installed, reboot and try installing this after that
Be sure usb debugging is enabled in developer options and unknown sources is checked as well.

What is your software version? If it's V10E, there is no root exploit available. Only fix for that is to downgrade to V10C then re-root. If still on V10C, I'd suggest trying PurpleDrake to root it since TowelRoot doesn't seem to be working.
