Scared to brick because of rom flashing. - Verizon LG G2

I am afraid to flash my rom. I have TWRP and I have CM that works with 24a. Except from the battery dying, is there anything to be afraid of?

Possibly breaking the display and/or bricking the phone, it's the risks that come with flashing roms. If you're not comfortable with those, stick with stock is all I can recommend...

Most stable AOSP ROM

I have been trying CM for the past two weeks and really enjoy it and the nightlies have been getting better. however I want to try out another AOSP rom. Any recommendations for the most stable, best battery life ROM?
I'm currently on Slim Bean but just flash all of them and see what best for you.

It is recommended that you don't use TWRP recovery with AOSP ROMs. I and many others have hard bricked their phones out of nowhere with this combination (s on too).
Try CWM instead.

This is still no where near being the confirmed cause.... Nor is it for sure any more safe to use CWM

How has slim bean working for you? I'm flashing it right now.
Even though people say this isn't the confirmed cause, it's still a safer bet to use CWM over TWRP for an AOSP rom merely based on being able to access the old file directory in recovery. Since you can't access anything but the 0 directory in TWRP it can cause issues if you want to go back and didn't back up a stock rom on your computer.

Practically no.
Statistically yes. So far I haven't seen any CWM bricks. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough. Maybe it's just that TWRP is more popular. But choosing a different recovery is a small price to pay for that much less of a chance of bricking.

well my issue with the statement is the "much less chance" part. I feel the chance of a different recovery fixing things is slim to none (I could be wrong). I believe TWRP is just more popular as it seems to be available quicker. The only safe bet in my opinion is to avoid flashing AOSP for the time being. This all very well could be user errors or bad builds at incremental parts. In the end I feel we are all beating a dead horse as it does not seem any developers are looking into this issue.

until we get a working custom recovrey like TWRP or CWM- no. once this is achieved, the fun will begin (hopefully). if you have KK, we're all waiting. if you have JB, you may have more room to play with if you know how to develop or "tweak" your phone to your liking. without a recovery, we're all pretty much useless. hope this helps

As far as I know, no one has really been dippin into JB to Dev a ROM or two. I believe there is someone in the CWM/TWRP thread saying that they are going to attempt to Dev a Stock ROM for the time being. kind of like a Hybrid JB/KK style ROM. not sure if he'll have time to do so from what he was postin. Kernels I dont think anyone has actually touched.

[Q] flash between builds

If I flash the most recent build for Google fi, can I flash the most recent T-Mobile build without any problem.

yes
Okay good to know. Just set mine up with T-Mobile that is a unlocked one and missing Wi-Fi calling and will be hoping on fi hopefully in a week or so.
The bottom line is flash full over the different builds. Don't think I would dirty flash different builds.
Oh definitely clean installs. Wouldn't try a dirty flash ever. Even updating cm I used to run on my older phones were always clean installs.

Hahaa. I'm as clean as they come. Too many years as rom tester/troubleshooter. 99% bugs related to dirty flash of clean roms.
But the bootloader won't be a problem? I see some threads that it can't be downgraded.

that was a subjective question and this is an inappropriate response
it depends on what you want out of a ROM and what your stock ROM is like. if a stock ROM doesn't suit your needs, sometimes there is an appropriate ROM for you. i have rooted every samsung device i have ever had and improved my experience greatly.
when you find a good developer, custom ROMs can be better. stock is usually most stable

I wonder what you want out from a rom?we are using/talking about OOS and that's suit my needs(It has all that is missing in stock android).
Sorry but Samsung software is garbage.
Midomad said:
As Android is further refined, there are fewer and fewer reasons to use a custom ROM for most users, custom ROMs will always be relevant to entry-level/midrange smartphone users, or those who still use older devices, that aren't receiving official updates from OEMs anymore.

OOS seems to have everything i want in a ROM too.
that being said, i may find features that i want and don't have. my moto has pretty much everything i could want, but updating to a custom 7.1.1 increased the performance of my device so much that i can't imagine going back.
i haven't used any custom ROMs for OP3T yet, but from what i'm reading we have some really good devs and it is worth a shot. for instance, RR offers customization to such granularity that i will try it because that customization leaves me feeling like i actually own the device (basically the opposite of what apple does with their products)

Going back to stock? What will I experience differently?

Hi guys, I’m currently on a custom rom and wish to go back and stay on stock. I know how to do it but other than of course Samsung Pay not working is there anything else I will experience as an issue. Will my battery drain faster or experience performance issues?
I remember when I had my Note 5 I experienced battery drain issues.
Thanks.
What ROM did you use so far?

you should not experience any issues from going back to stock other than apps that require knox to be intact. rooting/custom roms do not damage your device.

I used DR. Ketans N7 rom. Didn’t know OEM lock disappears and caused it to soft brick.
I’ll flash stock have it on standby for 7 days then use it again. I’m using my other phone for now.
