There seems to be a new kernel available for Xperia Z on Sony website.
Build number : 10.5.B.0.410
Link:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/dow...s/open-source-archive-for-build-10-5-b-0-410/
Though I didn't notice any such entry for this build number on PTCRB (neither for Z, nor for ZR).
nothing yet on ptcrb though. may b a bug fix version of 4.4.4 coming
Can you translate Japanese?
I have seen a lot of Japanese language posts that when run through Google translate seem to indicate 10.5.B.0.410 has been rooted. I haven't decided if I want to install the update yet since I only use my SO-02E when travelling in Asia and I have no trips scheduled for the near future.
Here are some of the links to the Japanese websites I mentioned if you are brave enough to try to root your phone using instructions that at were through Google translator.

Hi,
Since finnish language is not selectable in a stock Razr I XT890 phone, I'd like to know if there are any chances to add the language afterwards?
I haven't bought the phone yet and the language option in quite important feature. Sadly, Razr I is not sold here as Defy was, and it has finnish language.
Otherwise I have to look other phones, maybe Sony Xperia V is quite identical (only with weaker battery).
Unfortunately even More Locale has no Finnish language to choose. Maybe some nordic version of stock rom has it but CEE doesn't have.
Motorola Razr I XT890 was never sold in nordic countries, so there is naturally no rom for us.
But I was thinking if it is possible to modify the stock rom somehow.
The Android 4.x is certainly translated to nordic languages. I have finnish even in my Defy CM9 4.0.4 (albeit there are some minor places left untranslated). And some manufacturer provides even stock nordic-roms like Samsung and Sony.
How are the languages handled in e.g. Android 4.0.4? I was wondering, if I could copy some hidden language file from my Defy and paste it to Razr I.
Right, here is full list of available roms but no Nordic one. I don't think You can port language to stock rom. Only custom rom can have additional language. Try to ask Omar about his custom rom, maybe he can help.
Thanks, it is probably the best to forget Razr I and select an Android phone with a stock nordic-rom.
It is a shame though, Razr I has many interesting features other than language: Good battery life, display & frame size and powerfull. And the price was reasonable.
There is one more chance, if we got update to 4.2 or 4.4 maybe Motorola release more roms like it was with Defy+. When it was on 2,3,4 there was no rt.eu but when thet updated Defy+ to 2.3.6 they released rt.eu rom.
I would not count on it. Motorola has never been a significant phone manufacturer in Finland (probably same in the whole nordic) and why should it put efforts to minor selling areas.
Defy(+) were available via one network operator here but they didn't continue to sell Motorola.
The finnish language was not included in Defy:s eu-rom, but in nordic-rom. Eu-rom has only the center- and south-Europe languages, same as in Razr I model.

I know. It was just example based on my phones. First Motorola didn't released Defy+ in my area but only in Germany, England and somewhere else but with update to 2.3.6 they released in Slavic counties.
I had still one question on my mind: Is it possible to override app languages to different than the Android system language?
Yes, as I remember there was Xposed module to do that.
It's called AppSettings
Hi all,
I've bought a Sony Xperia SP M35h in China and everything works fine but I cannot install Google Play or other Google Apps (Gmail, Maps, Drive, etc). From what I've read I should root my phone, but I have not find any suitable version for my phone.
I have been trying to solve this issue for months now..Any idea?
Many many thanks,:good::good:
Martim
thats highly unusual since google play comes installed on the phone, are you sure its a legit model ?
Google: Googleplay apk and find a suitable link, you should have no trouble installing it to be honest as the phone should come preloaded with Google services, plus when you get on it, it will need a Gmail account which can be made via the Googleplay store
Guys, thanks for the help.
The phone is legit but was bought in China and is from China Unicom. Even if it is unblocked and I can put my sim card, all google services crash whenever I try to open them (I can install but they do not run).
I tried to install different .apk. There was one that I was able to open, but I could never login to the Google Pay store.. at it mentioned connection problems.
Any idea on how to solve this?
Many thanks!
Got some photo's of the device for us? It is weird that the device you have is not working since it is (or seems) a legit device.
try sony pcc to make sure your phone is legit then you can easily update or repair your phone .
It works just fine with Sony Pcc. In fact, I have contacted Sony before.. and what they told me is that operating system for Chinese phones is different and that should be the reason why I cannot use Google services.
Should I need to change operating system? Is it possible?

the kernel date is Tuesday November 19 2013 and the firmware 12.1.A.0.266 release date was Feb.12.2014 so it's not logic . did you tried the repair function with pc companion ?
Well it should work you could try to repair it with Sony Update Service

And what is yours kernel date? Because, mine is also November 19. and I'm on stock 266 ROM without any problems...
Here a legit C5303 build date Nov 19. However that is the date of the kernell build. This doesnt say anything about the real ROM build date.
Hi guys,
I've just tried the Sony Update but problem persists. I believe that it keeps updating the Chinese version of my phone.. M35h which is a different version just built for China (according to guys on Sony).
Is it possible to change operating system?
Many thanks for your help!
Do you live or use it in china? Or somewere else?
No, I live in Chile and I don't thinking about going back to China in a while! thankss

Haha great. Good to know
Did you went to a store or something to ask what kind of Xperia they sell there?
Because you have C5303, C5306 and C5302 < This one has no LTE and the C5306 one is mostly sold in USA..
Edit: If I Google Sony Xperia M35h I get the C5302 on many websites. I will dig a bit futher for you but I recommend you to visit a nearby store to check what version they sell..
---------- Post added at 10:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:15 PM ----------
Could you enter in your dialpad on the XSP:
*#*#7378423#*#*
Go to Service info and select Model info... What does it say there?
Mine is C5303
ahahaha
Here they sell the Xperia SP (C5302) version. But I guess this one is slightly different from mine, as I was said that M35h was specifically for the Chinese market..

But yeah there could be many versions of the device.
I get M35h
I'm new to the Sony ecosystem. I'm kinda confused on how firmwares are pushed out to devices. For example the new .769 firmware just got released and the log says it's supposed to be for Asian lte z1 but u haven't received it all while others have said it's already on their device. Same thing about the . 761 firmware too, I thought it would be available for Asian z1 also

hi are you sure its been released 769 that is, cause i havent seen anything on any fourms saying that ,but i might be wrong lol ,can you confirm this, regards joe
Sony split their phone models into groups based on hardware (like 3G, LTE, etc), and regions (like asian, europe,etc.). These are usually because the firmware has to be modified to work on each device (in case of hardware) or certain softwares which are very essential in certain regions maybe completely useless in other regions. So, each firmware varies from one another in these aspects. These firmware have different versions (like .757, .761, .769 as you said). All Xperia Z1 phones in the world which are active will be able to update to .757 firmware because it has Android Version Update which will be available for all models of a particular phone. While .761, .769 are bug fix updates which fix the bugs present in .757 . These bugs are usually occur when the base firmware is modified to work on other models of the phone. So, the models which has these bugs only will get this update, other models in which the Operating System runs without any problem will not get these updates.
Since you have not got any updates your phone should not have any bugs that are fixed in .761, .769 firmwares but sometimes the update just doesn't show up on the Update Center. So, better connect your phone to SUS to confirm that there is no new update for your phone.
Hope it helped.
This is my first Sony phone ever (a love at first sight btw), so I wonder how to update its firmware. I saw in the news that a fresh OTA is available, but Update Center claims that my device is up to date already. The current build number of my Z3C is 23.0.A.2.93 - a pretty old version I think.
If that helps, my phone is a D5803, purchased new from a GSM shop with official Sony guarantee, unlocked by default. Oh and thanks for helping out a fresh Sony user..

If you don't find the OTA, then connect your phone to pc and update via Sony PC Companion.
Sent from my Compact Beast The Third.
the FOTA is still rolling out, if your update center doesn't list it yet then it will in a couple of days [it's based on your provider, not rolled worldwide at the same time]
ok I gave it a few days and I still see no OTA. I also installed the PC Companion app and it shows no updates are available.. which looks pretty much impossible for me based on the list of available firmwares and the fact that I'm on 23.0.A.2.93.
Or well.. is this normal?
it is possible that this firmware won't be released in your area as i've read on the sonymobile site that some firmwares are region specific, where are you located and have you checked your local sonymobile site for most recent software version for your phone to see if it matches the one you have currently?
I bought my new Z3C in an independent shop but with a Sony guarantee so I think it's probably an import one. How could I check which country it was coming from? It could help checking the latest software version for that region then..
You can check it by using XperiFirm
I didn't get an OTA. When I went into settings, about, software update it told me about the update and gave me a LINK on where to go to get the updater for my computer.
The updater worked OK on my mac but it sure wasn't as easy as an OTA.

Same story & build here. I don't bother. Don't like to fix what isn't broken. I'm only interested in the future upgrade to lollipop.
Hi All
I have noticed some devices are already getting OTA for 23.4.A.0.546, however I still don't : despite the release date being a few weeks back by now confused:
Is there a customized .ftf file for the UK someone could supply I could use to flash my device to the latest? Has this already been released? Since I am on mac, I have no access to xperifirm.
Thanks,
Seb
Are you sure that you are in the correct Forum ? I doubt you mean the Xperia Z4...
Sorry friend that firmware is only released for Xperia z3 and Xperia z2. Not for z3+

You are both absolutely right - I must have misread a blog post.
Nevertheless, strange what's taking Sony so long?
If I had to guess I'd say that Sony probably halted the certification process for the Z3+ in order to wait for their upcoming firmware version that will include the stagefright patch. Hopefully that will start rolling out this month...
Very good point. This seems to be top of th e agenda!
