Bricked? - Verizon LG G2

My microphone jack was acting up and was worn out. I ordered up an ebay special and installed it. Phone fired right up and worked, so did my headphone jack!
Much to my dismay about an hour later it started to randomly show the headphones connected, disconnected, connected,disconnected... It did this same crap with the factory microphone/usb/headphone jack board in there. Also the shenanigans with a headset connected all the time as well, my all factory parts did that a few times as well too.
I was running the stock ROM, rooted, with CWM installed. I had xposed and a few modules installed. I also had flashed that volume increase for the headphone jack zip through CWM. I had not booted into recovery since flashing the volume zip months ago.
I am familiar with using the LG flash tool to flash the tot file, I had to do that a while back to take an OTA and had no issues.
Well, after the headphone jack started acting up I figured I'd go into recovery and try wiping the cache. I clicked on the reboot into recovery option from the quick boot app which I had installed and have used successfully on this phone and many other phones/tablets.
I got the LG logo and then a black screen, just keeps boot looping. LG logo, vibrates, goes to black screen and starts over. I tried going into recovery by the power button and volume down, I hit the power button a couple times when the factory recovery screen comes up, and says restoring or whatever and then a black screen and no CWM.
When I press the volume up and plug in the USB the download mode comes up on the screen, but only for a few seconds and reboots. I have the device manager open and it never shows up in there. I tried putting the original microphone jack board and it still does the same thing.
I had a buddy come over with another Verizon LG G2 and I put that one into download mode and BAM, it shows right up in device manager under ports.
Any suggestions as to what to do? Do you know of anyone that I could send it off to have it fixed if it's even possible? I'm tapped right now and I think I just have a really pricey paper weight until I can find a smashed one for cheap on flea bay and steal the motherboard out of it. Thank you!
Edit: It also does not charge when I plug it in to wall charger, just brings up the LG logo, vibrates quick, and then reboots.

Well ordered up a $100 logic board off of eBay, hope it works! Have to try something! (bought a lumia icon for a back up plan too, we'll see which one gets here first)

Got my new logic/motherboard in from eBay today. Installed it and my G2 is back in action. Within minutes the headphone animation showing the insertion of something into the jack happened again. Arggghhh!!!! WTF?? I mean new/different logic board, new headphone jack board and it still does it? I had my incipio feather case on it, so I removed it. Since then I have not seen it happen once. Have been on the phone for about an hour setting some stuff back up, texting, and a little web browsing. Blows my mind if it was that little plastic case causing the shenanigans, but I guess stranger things have happened, right?
Either way it's getting the for sale sign hung on it as soon as my new Icon shows up. we'll see how that goes, I really like me some widgets and an ad blocker. Xposed is nice too.

Still does the phantom headphone connected disconnected with no case. Took all software updates. Don't know what's up with this thing, seems to do it the most after its in my pocket for a while. Didn't always do it, so don't know what's up with this piece of ****.

[Q] Massive Problems

Hey all,
I just installed a new digitzer on my Vivid. Everything went fine, and nothing broke as I was taking apart the phone, or putting it back together.
Now that the phone is back together, however, it is having some problems.
First off, When I try to power the phone on, it vibrates like usual, but then doesn't display anything. The phone then proceeds to enter in to a bootloop and keeps vibrating every couple moments. When plugged in to the computer, the orange light comes on for a few seconds, then turns off. Windows will not recognize the phone. All the while, the screen is completely black, and none of the lights come on for the buttons either.
The phone was working fine before replacing broken digitizer.
The phone is NOT rooted, nor has it ever been. I am running stock ICS.
have tried entering Hboot with no avail.
Any advice?
Thank you!
Can you get into any other modes? Try to get to hboot(hold down power button and volume down) while plugged into computer. Should take it to fastboot.
how long for? I tried holding down for a good 30 seconds...nothing happened other than my orange light turning off
I noticed with mine I had to go with:
Remove battery.
Replace battery
hold vol down + power
few seconds later release power
few seconds later in hboot
YMMV due to repair.
You can also try a knoppix boot disc and some tutorial to see if you can find any sign of life off the phone in dmesg.
hope this helps some.
Sounds like a loose connection. Make sure that you've correctly reconnected all internal connections. Especially the connection under the little door with the void sticker on the screw in the battery compartment. If after verifying all connections are made and proper, the problem persists, I'm sorry to say you may have physically damaged the connectors during disassembly. Please visually inspect all connections for damage. A powerful magnifying glass is recommended.
(I have successfully replaced my digitizer twice, and my LCD panel once on this phone...)
Sent from my HTC Dark Raider using XDA.
I have taken it apart twice, checked all connections, and everything is good. Phone cannot enter any boot mode, and computer still doesn't recognize it. The orange light still only stays on for a few seconds when plugged in, then turns off. The phone then proceeds to keep trying to restart itself, but the screen remains pitch black blank
idk.. get a replacement.?

[Q] Broken power button on my SGS... Solutions?

Hey everybody, I have been using a refurb I9000 for over a year now. After a year of being knocked about, it's still a great phone. I'm running Slim Bean on it at the moment and its handling it great
Unfortunately, a couple months back, the power button stopped working. The phone was acting weird one weekend and stuck in a bootloop - think some water got in it on a night out. Took it apart and stuck it in a bowl for a week, which fixed it and it's been working fine ever since except for the power button.
The button works if you press it repeatedly for like quarter of an hour, but I'm scared I'm wearing it down even more by doing that. Without that button, I can't switch my phone on or do the 3-finger salute.
Right now, if I want to reboot or go into recovery mode, I have to use the buttons in the notification bar. If it runs out of battery, when I plug it in I can still get into download mode by holding the menu button + volume down. To get it into normal mode I have to plug it into a computer with Heimdall installed and get it to print diagnostics 'print-pit), which makes the phone reboot out of download mode into a normal boot. It's not an ideal solution!
When my phone dies when I'm on the road, I'm phoneless for several days.
I'm pretty confident I've voided my warranty on this phone loong ago, plus trying to get a replacement is the easy way out
I've seen custom 'battery charge mode' firmware out there- you know the screen you get when the phone is switched off and you plug it into a charger? Somebody had written a custom one of those screens with extra useful information on it. I can't remember what it was called though! Google hasn't been useful at all in finding it, either. I've also noticed the charging screen looks different on my Slim Bean ROM compared to the stock one. So it must be something that's fairly easy to customize...
With that in mind, I might try hacking the charge screen to listen to the menu + volume control buttons and be able to boot the phone that way.
Either that or I make a USB jig that can send enough bits to the phone in download mode to get it to reboot...
But as I'm only good at breaking hardware, I think I'll stick to software hacking for now.
Does anyone know the name of that custom battery charging screen I mentioned? Maybe there's more than one? If I can get ahold of them I can hopefully find out how they work.
This is a pretty specific + techy question, so apologies mods if this is in the wrong section! I don't think I'm allowed to make threads in the Android dev. forums yet though- you need to have over a certain number of posts for that, right?
- Written painstakingly on my phone and oh God I wish I'd used Tapatalk. Why is the stock browser still so crap at user input?

H811 won't boot after multiple battery pulls... HELP!

So I can't boot my phone. Previously stable h811, unlocked bootloader running latest 20i Extreme 3.3 MM with G4 Tweaksbox. I have a Qi/NFC sticker on the back, but which has worked flawlessly and was not in use when the phone died. Here's what happened and what I have attempted.
Problem began when phone simply went black. The only thing running was Maps, which had a route displayed but was not in navigation mode. The screen went dark like normal, and when I went to wake the phone, nothing happened. I was in the car and tried plugging in the car charger and did not get a charge light. Pulled the battery and was unable to get a response. The phone and battery were quite warm.
When I got home, I tried a different battery, and the screen turned on to the LG initial boot screen, but nothing else happened.
After many battery pulls and attempts to boot into recovery, I tried it with the phone plugged into the computer. Finally, it showed the charging screen and light, and after several more attempts- pulling the battery and inserting it, then powering on, it appeared to be booting, (boot animation started, but then looped and froze on the initial boot screen (with bootloader state: bootloader unlocked in the upper corner). After another round of attempt/battery pull, it booted all the way up, but at that point I had my sim pulled. Pulled the battery and tried to restart and it froze on the initial boot screen again. Haven't been able to get into recovery at all, can't get into download, can't boot past the initial LG screen. Sometimes it loops, sometimes it just hangs. Nothing I do pressing combos of buttons, plugged into computer or unplugged, seems to change anything. The very farthest I've gotten is the breathe blue light before the boot animation, but then it looped. Now it's boot looping plugged into the computer.
Any ideas? I'm at a total loss.

Im bricked myself from another issue but i think there is a black screen of death issue with some of the g4s
Try to boot download mode and re flash stock kdz with Lg up tool
You will loose all data though.
Good luck on help here noones helped me at all .
The g4 is just not a good device or user friendly
Sent from my LGMS631 using XDA Free mobile app
Black screen of death here too
Yesterday, I was using Chrome, site loading, screen just went black. I had about 1/2 battery at the time. I figured maybe the battery was just reporting wrong. When I got home, swapped batteries, same issue. I've been able to get into recovery and attempt a factory reset a couple of times (after many frustrating attempts.) The phone seems to only be able to be powered on for about 30 seconds before it goes black again. I'm going to attempt to fix with download mode now. If anyone else has solved a similar issue, any tips would be appreciated.
Hardware appears to be at fault!
Check this out, people!

Spread the word. Sounds like this is our problem. Apparently affecting mostly models with serial numbers starting 505xxxxx... which is what mine is. Called LG and they issued an RA# and shipping label to send it to them for service. I'm a little concerned since I didn't buy mine through a carrier, but this seems more like something of a soft recall than strictly a warranty issue, so I'm hoping they fix it no questions asked. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress.
Same thing happened to me today. My phone randomly shut off and it won't boot. Its stuck at the Android logo. I wasn't messing around with it. Just normal use (Snapchat, youtube). I tried booting into recovery but it just goes back to the android screen LG logo and keeps looping. I at least want to wipe the phone before I send it (personal info).
Same here. Mine has serial number starting 505, was purchased back at end of 5/2015 with not problems until this. I filled out the warranty repair form on LGs website and they sent me an RMA with label to get it fixed. I sent it in, they sent it back, and the only thing I see is on one sheet they printed out and included in the package said 'replaced board'. However, when I started up the phone it looked like new initialization with xx of yy apps initializing and then it began bootlooping with the LG splash screen. So frustrating!
So, this time I contacted t-mobile via their online chat, and did a warranty exchange through them. They will send me a replacement LG G4 next day ups air and I will send them the defective one for them to claim warranty themselves. We'll see where this goes. I might just take the replacement unit and do a tmobile jump exchange to another device. I wanted to wait for the new line of HTC nexus phones that are rumored for this year (and was loving the LG 4 until it died), but I might need to just jump twice this year and go for something like the new Samsung S7 of new LG G5 now and then again switch to HTC nexus once that comes out.
Sent mine to LG, and they fixed under warranty with no questions asked. Got it back within a week. All good now.

How i almost killed my phone

So, today i was messing with my phone (SM-G800H) trying to make the gps work to play pokemon go and end up concluding that my gps antenna was broken, i tried to remove the plastic that covers the antenna and had no success, i proceeded to grab my soldering iron and melt the whole plastic thing and accidentally i melted the power button flat cable, i tried to power on my phone to no avail.
I then gone to a nearby tech support, they told me i had melted the screen flat cable and that it would cost too much to fix it as my screen is cracked and it would probably break when they tried to open the phone.
I went home feeling a little helpless, and tried plugging it on the charger, to my surprise the phone turned on and started to charge, i then removed the charger and plugged it back on this time holding the volume up key, i succesfully booted into recovery mode! As my recovery is touch enabled, i could reboot the phone and now it works fine (except the power button).
I am now feeling relieved i didn't break my phone that is quite expensive in my country.
Just had to tell you guys this
Be happy!
what your country? already play pokemon go ?
I tried to root/flash
oh well
May be your phone much costly. Which phone are you using right now?

Device stuck in download mode

My wife Nokia 7 Plus was found in download mode (white screen with Android One logo) and is stuck in this mode. I've never done any unlock bootloader or root or anything on it (thus I did on other phones so I'm not totally stranger to it) and I'm 100% sure she didn't tried anything strange either. The phone is completely stock and probably with the last update as it went back new from repair a few months ago (for screen brightness issue) and I did update everything possible before she used it again.
The phone start automatically and immediately I see the white screen with AndroidOne logo and after a few ms it refresh and it's the same screen with the back text "Download mode" at the top.
I've tried to force shutdown and reboot by long pressing power. I cannot keep it shutdown, it goes back to Download Mode screen.
I've tried to restart start with power + vol up or power + vol down, power + vol up + vol down. Same.
I've tried to let it die on battery, charge it, and here it's a black screen with the large battery logo and a white text at the top saying: Download mode. After a few minute I try to boot and it's back to the white screen.
What can I tried next before I send it back for repair and it will be probably wiped again...
Side story, I've almost force her to switch from iPhone to Android because of price of the devices, and so far she is not converted at all with all the trouble we got with this Nokia.
As last before send to service try wipe in recovery, if not boot to recovery via buttons, try if your download mode is recognised by fastboot and reboot to recovery using: fastboot reboot AND IMMEDIATELY HOLD BUTTONS POWER and VOLUP until show "green android icon with no command

Thanks for your help, unfortunately none of this work. I've tried adb device and nothing is seen, fastboot reboot neither. I'll send it to repair now.
Suffering the same problem.

I'm having the same problem. Exactly what you said. I didn't root my device or even attempt to do anything. I bought Nokia because they were purely stock and delivered some quality mobile phones. I've got only this phone as my daily driver. So tell me if you have got the issue fixed and how much did it cost and how long it took. It's been stuck with that 'android one' logo and a small message that reads 'Download mode' on top. I've tried everything. And what I'm worried about is, my phone's out of warranty and I'm a student. I hope you got it fixed for some reasonable cost. Please reply to me ASAP.
My wife's phone also has had this exact same problem.
I have tried all the tricks mentioned above including ADB mode (it could not find the phone).
The phone is supposed to be under warranty. So I took it back to the place of purchase.
However, the phone has a tiny crack in the corner of the screen which my wife and I were not aware of. So Nokia have indicated that unless I get the crack fixed, the warranty is voided and they will not fix the boot problem.
Because the broken crack is not covered by warranty, Nokia want $270 for a new screen before they will look at the software problem caused by the pie update.
I took it to a third party repair shop to see if there is a cheaper option. They cannot fix it either.
So the 5 month old Nokia phone is now useless.
But if anyone can comes across a solution for this, can they please post it here.
Thanks.
Same here. I told the guy on the phone about the crack. But he told me it should not be a problem. Now I got an email that I needed to pay 185 euro's to repair the screen.
Because of their FW-update, my phone became unuseful.
When I get it back (not repaired) I will try a OST on it.
I solved my issue via this procedure:
https://www.techmesto.com/possible-fix-nokia-smartphone-stuck-on-download-mode-after-ota-update/
I solved it via drivers: https://github.com/StollD/nokia-driver-installer/raw/master/out/Phone_Nokia_USB_Driver_v1.4.0.exe
WTF Finally I fix it!!!

My Nokia 7 Plus got stuck in download mode after accidently pressing all buttons simu
Yes I know that sounds like a weird title and maybe you are wondering why did I do that? notice the word accidently.
I was just trying to fly my newly bought drone x pro for the first time and the controller has a little pull out extendable cradle to hold the phone in
if you want to view what the FPV camera is viewing while in flight and because of the bad design with all buttons on the same side of the Nokia 7 plus, unbeknownst to me all 3 buttons were being pressed at the same time and before I knew it my phone was shutting down and rebooting to this ridiculous download mode and the rest is history!
So I just thought I would mention this to anyone who happened to or happens to land in the same situation as me to be aware that you should probably put a little bit of sponge taped to the side of your phone over the volume buttons to possibly prevent it from being pressed simultaneously when flying your fpv drone.
If all else fails you could always connect the drone to your phone and then just put your phone in your pocket and fly blind by simply walking with the drone or rather running since they are pretty nippy. I am a bit bummed as this would have been a very convenient way of checking how full my guttering is of leaves without having to climb a ladder every time to check!?
Anyway I also used the fix here: https://www.techmesto.com/possible-fix-nokia-smartphone-stuck-on-download-mode-after-ota-update/
after downloading the nokia phone drivers from github.
If you are on windows 10 pro you may get a screen protector warning not to proceed further?
Ignore it and continue installing the drivers!
So far I got the Nokia Logo back and then it just hung there for several minutes without being recognised by the pc.
So I simply disconnected the phone from the pc and suddenly got the familiar nokia tone start up but then black screen again.
I realised it had been on the download mode so long it had completely drained the battery so now I am charging it.
Fingers crossed when I power up again I will at least have my phone back, sadly minus the data. (I will of course at least have all my google notes and contacts etc backed up to google servers at least they are useful for something!!)
I can't recall the last time I used it but I am pretty sure I had the SD card set as the main download so hopefully fingers crossed that data should have remained untouched, not sure how Android sets this up anymore?
Long time since gingerbread when you could still install and run apps as a completely separate partition.
All became a bit confusing after that so rooting became something I did hesitantly and as a definite last resort!
Anyway I am rambling on. If I find the fix works I will let you know.
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance if the fix works !!:good::good:

So it worked, I have my phone back! Thank you so much for this solution!
Sadly my SD card was wiped too!!!!! super pissed off about this, many photos and notes and other files that I will never get back unless if I recall I may have made a manual backup of at least some of the earlier stuff I put on here a few months back on my pc?
Nokia will be hearing from me for sure!!!!! I want a 50% refund for messing with my life and my time. How can they send an update that essentially breaks a phone for a bit!???!!!!!!
