Is simple root access all I need to get rid of apps I don't want/need? Referring to the stock apps and games that I might not want on the device. I see that a root method has already been released for the Note 4, so is root access all I need to delete some of this stuff?
You can disable the app from settings menu to not have it avail/load in memory. You'd need root if you want to delete the binaries from your ROM and free up the space

Yeah, I know you can disable the apps, I'm more referring to freeing up the space in this case

hi,
is it possible to remove apps that come with the rom of the supplier? if yes, how can i do that?
tnx,
Yes, but you need root access, and with Titanuim or other similary app just simple uninstall app.
Also if you find the apps under manage apps (all) then you may be able to do it there, or at least disable them.
hi just a question , i want to get rid of all "phone apps" for example, the Phone, phone book, messaging, samsung apps etc
i want to do this as im getting a new phone soon and want to use this as a "handheld gaming Device"
im guessing you just do it with root and a app? or are they "protected"?
Thanks Craig.

You need root, then you have only to install Root Explorer app from PlayStore. Go to system/app (or where the apps are), change folder permissions from R/W to R/O, just push on app and remove it. Be scrupulous because some apps are needed by your rom and so I suggest to you to have a backup before you try.

Hello.
Some apps need the permissions to be changed in Settings -> Apps -> (choose app) -> Permissions in order to be able to access some system features, like write to storage. But some have reported that Titanium Backup needs to be moved into a system app in order to work correctly. This can be easily done if you enable root in dev options of CM13 and use an app like Link2SD that moves apps to system partition (I tried Link2SD free with root enabled and I was able to move YouTube app to system).
Good luck.

No, that isn't how that works, sorry. There is no such thing as "setting root permission". Simply moving the apps to /system won't allow them to get root, because you aren't rooted.

and why other preinstalled apps can work as root?

They don't... Because root doesn't exist on stock devices.
They do run as the system user, but that isn't enough for any root apps to function alone, as root apps rely on writing to non-user writable directories, which the system user cannot do.

You can do that compeltely with root, by erasing the file from your root folder, or you can hide the app via adb and without root. In both case the app won't show up, but if you reset your phone the app will come back if you used the adb method.
Every apps can't be uninstalled/hiden without troubles. Some apps are necessary to your phone, but if you're talking about preinstalled facebook or something like that then no problem.
If you're not sure tell me what app you want to remove, I'll tell you if it's cool or not.
Here's an article on how to do it with adb:
