I have an old xperia x1, i know i was running firestorm 7.3, i then added the android to my sd card and played around for a bit. then i did not touch the phone for about 2 1/2 years. in the past month i picked up the phone and nothing just dead. i ordered a battery and charged the phone for about 2 weeks. the phone still does not start. the only thing i can do is plug in the ac cord and the red light comes on but wont power on, it then on it owns goes to the tri color spl screen and then goes to the white screen saying power to upgrade rom or action key to cancel. no buttons cancel anything it just hangs, if i hit the power button it starts to load the kovsimg.nbh file on the sd card but before it finishes the screen goes black and it starts all over again. kinda like a boot loop.
Can i get past this or is the old phone dead?
I'm not expecting a reply as the phone is old as well as the forum here seems lifeless.
But it never hurts to try.
Thanks
Got it working, hard reset the phone 4 times, but what did it was an older micro sd card. seems my new 16 lexar card was to much for the old phone.
Now i'll see what it's worth...

I have buy used xperia x1 with WM 6.1 and when i turn on on the screen appeared one MSG autorun.exe with red X but after 1 week, phone is restarting every 3 seconds so i dont know what should i do with it, this is my 1st phone with WM.
Ive read lot of post iee find nothing....
thanks in advance for help...
try removing the microsd card. then turn the x1 on.
if it works, delete the 2577 folder from the microsd card using your pc.
x1 restarted every 3 second
i dont have micro sd card...
Turn off your X1 (take the battery out for a second to make sure it is off). Lay it on a table. Press the two silver buttons left and right below the screen with one hand and keep them pressed. With the other hand, turn the phone on, but keep the other two buttons pressed for some seconds.
Now you will see a grey screen with blue text. Follow the instructions (press R on the keyboard) and try if it works now.
All your personal data will be erased in this process, but you said you just bought the phone so that will not be a problem.
are you sure you don't have a microSD Card ?
most x1 comes with one
it's you have to open to the battery to find it
if you got a dir in root called Storage Card thats mean you got a sdcard
hey
pyth27 and ruedagar,
thnx for your help, ive flash the phone with sd of my x1 before you typed that procedure for repair so thnx anyway i will try another time, and ruedagar ive bought a used one xperia and doesnt have a sd card so i used one just for flashing and everything is working perfect....
Hello all...I get a black screen, and nothing more. (Tried for 5-6 hours of different combination of holding the power and n button etc.) Still nothing
This happenes with, and without an SD card in there.
Tried all combinations of different recoveries with CWM and other SD boot suggestions.
All I did was root it, and then used CM7 off an SD card. Working fine for a day...then today it all stopped completely.
The only way I'm getting activity is when I plug it into the computer. I makes the chime of that it recognizes new hardware, and immediately makes the chime of that it was unplugged (which its not) Still nothing on the screen though.
Right before I could no longer boot...my screen was turning yellow...yellow lines, and odd pixles. Luckily I took a picture (see attachament) so everyone can get what I'm saying
Would this be a symptom of a hardware faulty Nook? Its only 3 days old...safe to bring it back to B&N for a exchange...even though its rooted?
I understand rooting will void the warranty, but does it void getting an exchange from B&N?
VERY long time no see folks!
It's been a little over a year if I remember correctly...
Anywho... I'm trying to revive an Xperia which had a very hard life. Ending with being ran over by my 2 and a half ton truck.
Yea.... it still works Now the phone I've been using since I ran over though... this pos couldn't survive the simple process of charging. The charging port has successfully broken off of the phone and will no longer accept a charge.
However, the screen on the Xperia is completely and totally screwed and I can't see anything. Ordering a screen isn't much of an option, reason one being I'd have to be without a phone until Thursday; and reason 2 being my Xperia has an issue realizing whether or not a SIM card is inside of it and isn't really usable as a mobile phone (but it works well as a stationary phone sitting in my house).
Now... I already have a program which willl let me actually see what the screen says, but it needs ActiveSync in order to work. Which... I can't install on the phone because it needs to be hard reset.
However, I can't remember the exact button presses to get it to hard reset, nor do I recall what comes after in order to get everything back running so that I can get to the phone's start screen.
Does anyone have pictures or a video of the full Xperia startup and hard reset processes? I tried scouring the internet but I couldn't find any.
well shut down the phone, remove battery for 5 sec, insert battery. hold the two soft keys (the ones under the screen) pressed with the mobile off and then holding on those two press the power button until the phone vibrates. when it vibrates release the power button bet keep pressing the other two. wait 10 sec with those 2 pressed then press r on your hardw keyboard wait 5 secs and press space on you hardw keyboard.
Hope it helped and i made any sense.
Hey all. So up until about a week ago I was running CM7 nightly build 150 something on internal memory and all was fine on my nook, with just the occasional issues with the facebook app, but SoD seemed to be gone, and so on. Recently I updated to CM7 build 253 which fixed my Facebook problem, seemed to run better blah blah blah. I made some changes, added some new widgets (HD widgets was only 10c on the market!), and SoD had seemed to come back. I was literally checking my email, I put it down, checked it again 1/2 hour later and it was dead.
I wasn't too concerned because in the past all I would do is plug in my charger and it would pop up. Well not this time. It wouldn't come back on, the power switch wouldn't work either. So I decided to let it charge up fully. This morning, power button still didn't work, unplugged it and tried again. It just straight out won't even try to turn on.
I'm considering trying to format my SD card as bootable and see if something maybe just got cooked internally.... But I have doubts that it would even boot from that. Unfortunately didn't have time to test it much, but has this happened to anyone else? Do I now own an expensive doorstop?
I don't know that it'd work very well as a doorstop :/
Hold the power and n button down for a lonnng time.

From what I understand it's not possible to brick it. I assume you read the thread of how to unbrick pinned to the top of this forum? That is where I would ask the question if it is still open.
Also try just holding the power button alone for a long time. Wait a few seconds. Then try to boot again.
Hold down the n + power button for 10 seconds. Release. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Repeat this process 2 or 3 times, if necessary. Has never failed me.
Try making a bootable SD card and see if it will boot that way.

I had to do this about 7 Times, then it finally booted.
What was stranger, the battery level was the same as when it died, even though I had plugged it in and "charged" it till the n light went green. According to the battery history it basically seems as if I had simply shut it off and never plugged it in.
Normally I wouldn't be so concerned about a SoD moment, but in almost a year of having the nook color it has never locked up like this (running CM7 anyway).
ok so i've been using it a bit but my battery was 70% last i checked. was playing around with throw and just opened youtube and the screen flickered a bit (black lines) then decided to go black completely.
nothing i do will make the screen do anything.
holding the power button for ages (usually the way to turn off/reboot a phone) doesnt do anything. the backlight is on as i can see that. but nothing is on the screen.
anyone got any ideas on how to force a shutdown/reboot on these?

IIRC the Xperia Z1 has a hard reset button under the sim flap, it's a small red button, give it a shot.
remove sim card and sd card and try again, if it's still not responding do an update repair using SUS or PCC
BTW there is a known fault with the XZU and it could also be on the Z1 as they use similar Firmware, what people have found is that the phone will start up eventually and then they go into the display setting and untick the auto backlight option and that fixes it
I also reboot my Z1in this way when it blackout.

Had the same issue called Sony, push hard reset button all is fine in the world. Known issue Sony is working on it

Managed to hard reset using power and up volume .
Put it on charge overnight but it doesn't see,m to have taken any charge at all....just trying again using diff PSU and cables but it doesn't want to charge. It recognises that I've out a cable in as I played with the smart connect setting. When it is off completely I get a red light (presumably meaning its charging ) but not in android
Any ideas?
Got it charging again by pushing the red button near sim slot for a couple seconds.
Just had another issue with SD card not being recognised after I removed another (/safely) had to reboot again using power plus vol up as it stuck on the shutdown logo when I tried to power down'...
Wow I can't believe the amount of issues I've ran into within 24hours of having this thing. I really don't know what to do...return it because it sounds like a faulty device (but all the issues are seemingly unrelated) or return and get another phone (is anyone else getting problems like I am?)
Sometimes phones have issues. I got one once that had no speakers or Mic inside... it happens lol
Try to go exchange it, and see if the next device gives you issues.. if not then you're good, if it does pick a different phone..
Do it soon though, most carriers only have a 14 day exchange period, and then after that will charge you all sorts of fees and try to fix your phone rather than just giving you a new one....

sounds like a similar problem I had with my 64gb SD card - as I mentioned above remove all cards then start from there - a reflash of the firmware might help also

Something happened to mine with Youtube too. I'd started a video and paused it on a frame for comparison with another screen. While I was setting the other phone up, the screen on Z1 timed out. I pressed power, the screen come on and flickered, then went black!
Power and both volume keys function the same as the red button under the flap. I wasn't able to reproduce the bug.

yeah i've been trying to reproduce it and failing to. very odd. maybe its something to do with the first time you use youtube and do something specific?
gunna phone o2 up tomorrow and see what they say about all my issues. seems to have been fine this last 24 hours though and in their eyes that is prob reason enough not to issue a replacement.
I've had mine since Monday and this happened to me yesterday. I was troubleshooting sending MMS with T-Mobile tech support (not a phone issue as it was happening on previous phones too) and had to restart the phone several times. I noticed upon restarting that the backlight seemed to be on but the phone was not booting up. Had to perform several hard resets (both with the red reset button as well as the power/volume up buttons) before it FINALLY rebooted and stayed on. While trying to figure this out I ran a Google search to see if others were having this problem. One solution was to make sure the backlight option is checked. I had been messing with settings the night before and must have unchecked it. Since I rechecked it I haven't had the same issue.
