Sprint flex teathering - LG G Flex

Hello my name is Dan. I have a sprint lg flex. My home internet is extremely slow 2.5mb/700kb. On my phone i get 25/10mb but i keep getting overages when i use my hotspot. Is there a way to root my phone and use my teather unlimited? It sucks having unlimited data but only.2gb when i teather/hotspot. Thanks

What android version are u running?

Stock 4.4.2

Read through these forums and find the "unroot and downgrade to 4.2.2 JB the easy way". That will take you back to jellybean so you can root and install a custom recovery to flash mods Roms or whatever. You can root on KitKat 4.4.2 with towelroot.com just download SuperSU from the play store then visit the above website and download towel root and install then click " make it rain". That will give you root if that's all you're after. But there is no custom recovery on KitKat.
And there are several threads on rooting, recoveries, and tethering in the development forums for our device.
My best suggestion is read read read all about the g flex in these forums. You will learn a lot and you will find you answers before you ask the questions in the wrong forum.
You can give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, you can teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime. Or until he gets tired of fish.
But do the research before you expect someone else to just answer your questions. Not being an ass just the next guy may not be as nice.

[Q] Sprint hero root help!

I;ve Had my Hero for almost & it's running stock Sprint 2.1. i want to root it but i dont know what i really have to do. i know i have to drivers & SDKs, but which ones. CAN ANYONE JUST GIVE ME LINKS WITHIN THE FORUMS TO HELP ME.
Keep in mind this will be my first time. i mainly want to customize & add ROMs to my phone. THANK YOU in advance!
Look at the stickies in this very forum. Search is your friend.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Gingerbread-on-Hero action here!
can you give me a specific link?
i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717416&highlight=Root+Sprint+Hero
But my phone runs 2.32.651.2
Z4Root works from my experience, Also super one click root works. Make sure you install busybox and superuser app from the market otherwise you won't know if you're really rooted and it wont seem you are. After that go and get ROM Manager and flash CWM (you'll know what im talking about when you get there). From there you can snoop around the development forums and grab tons of stuff with step by step guides to tweak and modify your phone to perfection

how to root phone

My galaxy note kernel version is DXLC2 (malaysia)
Did I need to downgrade my kernel version frist???
I suggest you don't root your phone otherwise it will be too troublesome for you, i.e. do a lot of reading, keep up with development (which also need a lot of reading), fine tuning your custom ROM (which also need a lot of reading), the list will never ends (which unfortunately needs much reading as well!).

Yes, you should downgrade first in order to get root. Here's a little guide I wrote on how to do it, hope it helps:

Hey danwteik,
Indeed you need to do some further researching before proceed for rooting as I believe you don't want to screw your phone up.
But as long as you're prepared, you're OK. Am too a newbie to Android and after lots of research, I've successfully root & flash my phone to custom rom as well.
Just follow this guide from Ashwin, great step by step guide and you won't need to worry much as you can proceed as per the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJjh6gi0Spw
Just like the firmware from the video, go download it from Dr Ketan's thread:

questions regarding root
hi all xda guys,
I am new to droid and love it thus far...
after having my galaxy note for a few weeks and doing some reading, ive decided i want to root my phone to have the best working phone possible HOWEVER im completely clueless when it comes to being this technologically adept. so i hae a few questions as follow:
1. ive read the root thread and see that there are a few different options for rooting, in everyones opinion which is the best / easiest to perform the most basic root to unlock my phone, root it and be able to install custom items.
2. CWM i assume means clock work mod...what is this mod exactly? and why is it important to install along with the root?
3. my phone settings read that my kernel version is 2.6.35.11..one rooting option i believe requires you finding out which kernel your running and they list kernels as kk## etc. how do i figure out exacty which kernel I am if it only reads the previously listed kernel version?
4. what exactly does it mean when someone told me theyre going to instal custom kernels? ( i have a friend who just bought and rooted a new Samsung GS2 and im curious as to what this means)
5. i've read the rooting directions and watched videos posted and googled my brains out...does anyone know where i can go to find the most basic and simplest explanation and directions for rooting my GN? (if youre reading and got this far and saying the explaination in the root thread IS THE EASIEST it can be....i need something dumbed down to the level a 2 year old can understand....this stuff is mind-boggling confusing for me for some reason i cant wrap my head around the process or the concept)
6. i basically want to root my phone for these reasons
- to figure out and manage to make my phone use less running ram to run faster
- to be able to install or customize the phone to make my battery last longer
- to be able to do whatever it takes to tether my phone without having to pay for it in my data plan
-to be able to install or whatever it is that allows me to customize my phone (themes, fonts, icons, etc)
- to use my phone worldwide on different carriers without having to pay for unlocking, buying other sim cards etc.
- to install or whatever to have my phone do amazingly cool stuff. (this isnt as important as 1-5 but hey who doesnt want a phone that can do everything and then some?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! i've googled it and asked friends and even have contacted someone on craigslist who offers a service for a nominal fee. but im smart and smart enough technologically speaking that i can figure it out.
i just need someone to sit down with me and explain everything step by step and answer my questions. PLEASE i'm willing to do anything and everything possible to learn and re-pay someone for their awesome-ness and sharing their intelligence.
someone something, please help a fellow user out.
*i'd even go so far as to pay-pal someone a few bucks or bake you a cake and ship it to you. im that serious.
please guys,
XDA rocks, droid rocks, YOU rock, just help me out...i've spent 5 days trolling xdas forums and other sites and forums and have just gotten more confused. someone dumb this down for me!

Yes, it does make a slight difference inasmuch it's a totally different phone from N7000. Look, it even has its own forum:

Did you try this method successfully on your Note?
Hi,
I just got my Galaxy Note last week and would like to root it. I found the link below and would like to check with you guys first if they really work. I could not post on that thread for I'm a new member. I think some of you have posted in that thread too. Please help.

About my phone:
Kernel Version: ...-N7000DXLC2-...
Android Version: 2.3.6
Model Number: GT-N7000
1.) Can I use the this:
3*Files No-Wipe N7000DXLC2_CSC_N7000OLBLC2 Singapore (16.03.2012)
2.) Can I use Odin3 v1.85?
3.) Can I still unroot after this?
4.) I just need the PDA file to gain root access and ensure No-Wipe?
Thanks in advance.
Bart

Hello Friends.
I am very keen on getting started with the Rooting process for my Galaxy Note. I have been reading and trying to comprehend the various methods of achieving root but it seems overwhelming and daunting.
I reiterate what I have stated in another thread, I am an infant in this domain. I feel much too confused presently and thus I humbly request you to please guide me one step at a time.
At the very beginning, I aspire to achieve two motives. They are -
1] Root my device
2] Back up the stock ROM
My device details are :
Model number
GT-N7000
Android version
2.3.6
Baseband version
N7000XXKK5
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-N7000XXKKA-CL726566
[email protected] #2
Build number
GINGERBREAD.XXKKA
I thank you in advance for continuing to have patience with me.

[Q] Do I need root?

Hey all,
I am in the N900A NC2 4.4.2 boat and I want out!
Do we really need root to install a different ROM?
Can't we push somehow e.g. CM on the phone using Odin, or something?
I just want to make my Note 3 livable till Nexus 6 comes out
~S
I sometimes wonder why the search function even exists...
Yes you need root access to install custom roms via safestrap.
You need an unlocked bootloader to install a custom recovery and flash roms.
The latest 4.4.2 release ending with NC2 has a locked bootloader and does not have root access. Currently there is no way to obtain it.
Please follow forum rules and search before posting a question that has probably been answered. Try reading the general section and the sticked posts. One's like "[INDEX] AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 All-In-One Resource Thread!" might be able to help with unanswered questions. If you still can't find your answers and it's support related, please post a question in the stupid question threads. They are in most sections. This is a development site, not a support site.
Root Might Be accessible today at 12pm CT

Root might be available.

[Q] ROMs for 027A

I just got a G2 VS980027A. I can't seem to find any ROMs that specifically state they work with 027A. Will ROMs built for 024A work or do I need to go to back to 024A or up to 039A? This is my first experience with an LG phone.
If I need to go up or down, please point me to the procedure.
Thanks in advance.

To go custom you gotta obtain root and install recovery. 27A can be rooted I think with Stump Root. But because the G2 has several firmware revisions and 2 different exploits for recovery. Loki vs Bump I really recommend you spend a few days reviewing the forums. Threads by micromod777 and xdabbeb are good reads. It's in the Verizon forums. Cloudyfa autorec thread is a good one in the G2 general forum. Just read a bit. Then if you still have questions I'll be glad to help you.

Rooting will be easier?

Hi everybody!
I just thinked maybe that rooting will be easier, like on old phones with One Click Root or the recovery install package. I love custom roms etc, but I just scared to do it on my S10 and I'm lazy to do all the firmware download, install this, install that etc.
What do you guys think? I will be easier sometime or nah?

one of the great many reasons that some of us appreciate the difficulty level of rooting is to keep the faint of heart away. If youre too lazy, then you might need to reach out to folks who get paid to do this type of stuff for you.
many of us hope that root will always be a chain link fence keeping those who dont feel required to do anything to get access. Dont want to click 12 things on your mouse and type a few characters on a keyboard? Dont root. Simple as that.
Mind you, if you happen to buy a galaxy s10 USA version. You dont have to worry anything!
i have software to install and was told to root my phone before i did it because its a one time only link. is there just an app i can download to do this?
