So two days ago i bought a s3mini and how it looks, feels and works... i'm loving it..
however, battery time seems to suck... today i'm at 43% after 8 hours.... meaning it won't make it till I go to bed (still another 8 hours).
Wifi has been turned off all day, my screen, It's a black background without any icons... screen brightness on 30%.
Is this device known to have a short battery life? or did i just have bad luck?
Idk. Is autosync off?
I get 20h on heavy usage. (Games, calls, yt videos) Wifi always on, autosync off.
Brightness 20-30%

When i bought this phone, battery life was horrible. Then i rooted my phone and installed SetCPU and discovered that my phone was running in performance mode which meant that processor was using both cores at 1000 mhz non stop - even in standby. Then i installed a custom rom and GoldenKernel and started using pegasus governour with 1000 mhz max cpu clock and 200 mhz min.Since then, my battery can last up tu 24 hours with medium usage (WiFi or 3G always on, Auto Sync, high brightness, 2-3 hours of screen time).I currently have about 20% of battery and i unplugged 14 hours ago, but i streamed a whole HD episode of GoT ( 1 hour of heavy cpu/internet usage, 1.3 GB file).
If your phone is rooted, try Greenify. It will hibernate apps during sleep to save battery usage. Get more info on their xda forum.
You can find Greenify here ;

Well, it is screen, i dont see anything wrong with the usage, actually i think its kinda good usage for the screen, but you have to tell us the screen use time, and the brightness, otherwise its looking fine with me.
thanks friends ...screen usage is 3h 48min and i have brightness low ...but i think screen 70-80% is too much ...or is normal???

You are clearly not using heavy usage apps, like facebook, whats app, viber, twitter, and so on, apps with internet usage drain more battery, browsing internet will drain battery faster, so i you used ONLY screen you will end up only 70% on screen, but with more apps to drain you'll drain the battery faster and you'll find screen usage lower, however i still find the battery graph normal.
You may be right ...thanks :good:
Enable adaptive backlight in screen settings if u are on cm

Is it just me or are others facing the problem of battery draining too soon after the 4.3 update? before the update, my estimated battery time used to around 2.5 to 3 days. Now it is just around 1.5 days and the battery drains in 1.5 days too. Is is the same for everyone else?
I have lower battery life, on. 257 I had better battery life, try both stock and costum roms...

Use App Ops. In built hidden feature of 4.4. and 4.3
Complete access to managing per app permissions. Stop the wakelocks. Win your battery life back.

Which one? there are alot of "App Ops". What developer made do u suggest?
can`t open this app!!!!!! why, my screen Flicks one time and thats it
Uh oh, Sony patched up the software to prevent access to App Ops.
Those apps just open the menu. They don't control anything. The hidden menu is gone.

When I was on .257 monx rom I got about 2 days total usage and 5-7 hrs on-screen time, now on .290 in generic stock, and rooted and busyboxed with doomlords kernel I get like 1 day total usage and 3-4 hrs on-screen time, that's lame coupled with worse bluetooth audio and ram bug, waiting for another update

After upgrade to 4.3 my battery drain overnight with wifi/3G/data/sync off, only 2G on, is very bad: before upgrade I had 2% in 8h now it is at least 0.5% per hour
I believe the problem to be google localisation services: please see my thread below

For the drain you can monitor which program keep your CPU wake with wakelock detector.
And what about the usagr details error?

don't think theres anything wrong with your phone. The usage screen shows two things: app usage and other usage, afaik the app usage only shows how much of the battery is used by different apps (android system, viber, youtube, etc) and other usage shows usage related to network, and since youre in airplane mode, it doesnt have anything to show under that category.
Try using a couple of other apps, such as youtube or music for 15 minutes, im sure theyll show up under the app usage after that. And also take your phone off airplane mode, and im pretty sure after a couple of hours the other usage category will have things such as "phone idle" or "cell standby"

Are you using a custom ROM? If yes which one?
Generally it's a normal thing to see your battery drain faster when you use (Wi-Fi/GPS/3G).
Yes i use Cm 11 23/08 nightly

GPS + Data + display consume a lot of battery
I used google maps and in 30 min it lost about 15-20% battery...
Maybe with other rom it'll be better. Actually I have KK from Mackay

Use this app to see what keeps your device awake and then use the privacy guard to adjust your apps accordingly. I saw a big improvement when I disabled some apps that were waking my device up all the time.
But you can't really do anything to stop the battery consumption when you use GPS/3G/Wi-Fi.
