So my question is what apps are recommended when im new at the android community?
Thx!
P.S.: Moved finally away from iPhone!
You have done the right thing, dumping an iphone. Welcome to the world of Sony!!
Must Have Apps for Xperia Z
Social media apps you might use (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, ...)
Skype
WhatsApp: free messaging
Viber: free messaging and calling, but less users than WhatsApp
Tapatalk 4: famous forum app (currently $0.99 instead of $4.99)
Box: free cloud storage, currently you get 50 GB (lifetime) instead of 5 GB if you create an account on your Sony smartphone
Dropbox, Google Drive, Skydrive if you use it
Google Earth
Google Sky Map: augmented reality sky map
Plane Finder: airplane tracking
My Tracks: GPS tracking (distance, speed, elevation, complete route, ...)
Tasks: if you use Google Tasks
WeatherPro: the best weather app for smartphones ($ 2.99)
IMDb: to look up films
eBay, Amazon, PayPal if you use it
AppSales: check discounted apps
Wikipedia
Google Translate
BBC News
Local news apps
Mobile banking app if available for your bank
Public transport apps if you use it
PassWallet: opens Apple Passbook files
Any games you like
Apart from that, I also have some local apps (for my region).
I also have TomTom Western Europe on my phone, which is very useful for navigation without internet connection (e.g. abroad), but it costs a lot if you want to buy it ($79.99 / € 59.99).
Sony's stock apps are really nice, so I haven't felt the need to replace them by alternative apps.

Thanx.
Actually I didn't want the iphone, but my parents thought that i like iphone better -.-
You're welcome
TomTom is also useful for walking and biking. It can be very handy if you are abroad in a city you don't know, without internet connection.
Unfortunately, I don't think any case is compatible with Sony DK26. I use a soft TPU case, which is very easy to remove when I want to put my phone in the charging dock.

Than, im thinking about to buy it
Ok thank you, then i'll buy a sleeve
my personal list
BSPlayer FREE, lets me watch youtube/listen to music while chatting or when mobile videos are disabled.
IM+, connects all my msgers including skype, clean interface, no very annoying video call button i accidentally hit constantly.. when I'm naked...
google drive, I like having access to my files
ASTRO File Manager or Root Explorer
Hubi - lets me stream shows from flash sites
Netflix - lets me stream shows from netflix
ISeeYou - keeps my phone on when I'm looking at it, locks rotation to the way im viewing.
Steam
Where's My Droid - I just like the options form it... probably not necessary with google and sony's tracking.
GrooveIP (for google voice calling over wifi, I dont have service at home)
Pandora - for when I dont feel like skipping every bad song.
Grooveshark - for my own playlists
so yea most of my stuff is media related... but I mostly use my phone for media or work, and the occasional surprise video call in the nude.
Box gives you 50 gigs of cloud storage if you sign up using your Z (atleast they did a while back, still worth trying).

Hi there, I installed the AMG EVO9 CFW for my Phone and I'm looking for a way to use lucky patcher to remove the LVL of some apps, however I need to find where is my PlayStore App located, I looked for it on system/app folder but I couldn't seem to find it there. [Android 4.4]
Maybe someone could help me with this?
Take a look at the screens. Hope it helps.
hello with the new way of these phones andriod and others plus spyware .im wondering how do i know what apps samsung etc are spying on my phone maybe uploading my numbers and other infor without me knowing any of you guys got any idea whats the best way to stop it. tbh i hate even google assist even turning on by itself even when i diable it
Hello, first of all, please write in easily readable sentences, that way more people are going to help you.
Second, it is important to be and stay suspicious of the software you use, especially with android. But you shouldn't be worried too much as most of the data that is sent from your phone isn't sent with "evil intentions" or anything like that, it is often rather aggressive diagnostics.
Warning! The following paragraphs are filled with very radical means of removing suspected spyware! Almost all of these require root and knowledge in modding your Android! Beware!
As to how you can spot "spyware" or suspected spyware, there isn't one easy way.
First of all, you could use a custom ROM, so that your system is more open source and there isn't any suspected spyware (or any "ware" at all) from Samsung.
To go one step further, you could try to live without Google services:
Use a different search engine, for example DuckDuckGo or any other really
Use Firefox or any non-Chromium browser
Instead of using opengapps to install Google Play Services (when you install a custom ROM) you could use the replacement project "microG" (microg.org).
Get as many apps as you can from Open source app stores (F-Droid)
Don't use the official Play Store unless you really have to - it is a power hungry data collecting app (that can theoretically install any app without asking, just like the Google Play Services or any other /system/priv-app app with proper permissions) - Alternative for installing Play Store apps: Aurora Store
Replace Google Maps with OpenStreetMap (OSMand)
Use a anonymous YouTube client, for example NewPipe
etc.
These are of course only suggestions, I don't recommend doing them all at once, but if you really don't want any unnecessary data sent from your phone, these are the first steps.
For actually seeing which apps send what data you could either analyze the app bytecode with App Warden or look at all detailed permissions with AppOpsX.
Methods to neutralize spyware are rejecting the permission for the app to use internet access or even run in the background, disabling the suspected app or removing it with system app removers.
Be very careful with actually disabling or removing system apps! Many system apps are needed for the system to work and one can easily misjudge an app by its description and diagnostics! Before disabling an app you should research whether anyone else knows anything about the app and only remove it if you are really sure about it. You have been warned.
Hi guy I'm Brenton from South Africa Cape Town ...I've been a Huawei guy since years back...like to know anything new about Huawei devices and tips and tricks...amd since the Google ban I'm mostly here to find out about ways to get any of it back
Welcome to XDA
Cape Town, cool. Beautiful country.
Specifically what are you trying to do or access on Google? My knowledge for those devices however is almost net zero.
For Playstore apps you can use another device with Playstore access to install the app you want.
Then use ApkExport to make an installable copy; I don't use Playstore when I reload, using my saved apk copies instead.
The HUAWEI ban explained: A complete timeline and everything you need to know
Why is HUAWEI banned and what does the HUAWEI Google ban mean for HUAWEI phones? Here's everything you need to know!

Many of the apps that demand Google play Services are trash apps. Not all, so yeah it limits you somewhat. If rooted you have more options.
Many of the best freeware apps like Karma Firewall don't care
It's operation is simple, choose the apk you want to copy and then go to ApkExport folder to retrieve the copy. Punching on the copy will install it.
This is it:
