I have tried Viper One rom 7.0.1 with Elemental X kernel 18.0, when I run firewater it sais that I do not have a kernel that has the HTC S-on protection. I don't know what to do. Please Help ASAP.
I did this last week with 13.1 and the same rom. It's a 4.4.2 rom but the kernel works enough to get s-off. Here is the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295596. The rom was pretty useless there is some compatability issues which crash video playback (including the viewfinder in camera mode) to the point where any video crashes the phone completely not just FC there's also weird screen artifacts. Everything else works though and it works enough to get S-off with firewater on Viper 7.0.1. I'd flash 13.1 then do firewater and reflash the rom.

OK, so I unlocked my HTC one bootloader with the 'legit' method (as it came with android 4.2.2) via the HTC site.
I have TWRP, tried a bunch of custom roms and a couple of different kernels.
Well, I decided that I liked a previous kernel and went back to re-flash it again. It wouldn't work. When doing it the phone would just reboot every time, or simply freeze on trying to do it.
After a while, I noticed that S-OFF was S-ON again :S
I haven't made an intentional attempt of switching it back again.
Not sure even how it happened!
Any ideas how to get S-OFF again? And maybe any ideas why it may have reverted on it's own accord?
Thanks,
Mark.
I don't think it was ever S-Off; the HTCDev site unlock keeps security on. And as to my knowledge Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 has HBoot 1.54. Someone double check me on that... But yeah, you can't S-Off now with HBoot 1.54; only 1.44 is supported. If your HBoot is 1.44, then just do it through Revone; Google "Revone S-Off" and you will find the XDA thread on how to do it.

OK, that's fair enough, I probably was under the false assumption that I had S-OFF and didn't.
Having said that, I was also under the assumption that to flash a kernel, S-OFF was required?
Am I wrong on that? I have definitely managed to flash a couple of them already, and now they won't do so. Any thoughts on what could be causing that, if this isn't the issue?
Thanks,
Mark.
Nope, with the One, we can flash the kernel in recovery with s-on.
Only in some device like One X/S/V we can't do this without s-off.
However, from htcdev you will only unlock the bootloader, you will stay with s-on

OK, thanks for the consise info.
Based on this though, can you think of any reason that I wouldn't be able to flash a kernel?
It was working fine, and now it isn't.
I've tried elementalx and bulletproof.
I can set them both up through the aroma installer, but when it actually comes to flashing, as I already stated, the script starts and my phone either freezes or reboots.
Kinda annoying
You can flash any kernel with s-on.
I flashed they before achived the s-off
So, aroma will freeze?
Try the faux and report the log here

This is an aroma bug. Came with an update to the aroma installer, not kernel related. Current fix is to retry process until it works.
AT&T HTC M7ul
Baad Newz's InsertCoin 3.4-2
Flar2's Bulletproof 6.2

Faux123 worked great! Presumebly because it doesn't use an aroma script. Thanks a load, it actually has more features than the other ROMs that I had tried
I recently wanted to upgrade my stock with goodies 2.10 to viper boys new rom and i did so and it was working fine. I then installed elemental X kernal and my phone has been unusable since. I can boot into rtwrp and abd works but every rom i tried just wont work and being on 4.3 with S-on i can use the RUU to downgrade. I have been at it for two days and have just about given up its getting worse. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys,
I'm trying to get S-Off with rumrunner on HBoot 1.54 and all went well apart from me needing an unsecure kernal that's compatible with my rom (Android revolution 4.3 with sense 5.5). Now, I have no idea what the hell I do here and I need help of how I can attempt to get S-Off on this with this kernal. It also has a second option of installing another rom which I don't mind doing as long as it's going to work with rumrunner.
Please, a reply ASAP will be great!
I currently have my M7 unlocked and rooted, now fancy a try at getting s-off for my M7.
I am currently running the latest Insertcoin rom with the default kernel that comes with it. I've currently tried Rumrunner and Revone that come with the Tookkit from Squabbi but both fail. I am assuming this is because 1.57 is a tricky one to gain s-off.
Anyone had any luck with this verson and running Insertcoin?
Thank you.

With that hboot your best free chance of S-OFF is firewater. I don't know about that combination but you can search the thread and see if someone has made it. It seems each phone is different and what works for one doesn't work for another. If you get the "whelps this sucks..." message then you will need to use sunshine but it cost $25.
Ok, tried the Firewater method, first bottle chugs then I am informed my kernel contains an anti firewater patch. So, I googled around and it shows Elemental as being firewater friendly. I flashed this kernel, tried Firewater and I get the same results.
I am running the latest ARHD and obviously now the Elemental kernel.
Thanks.

use an older rom + bulletproof
you can also check here for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632351
if you are already on firmware 6.xx, then most likely firewater will fail anyway (even without giving you the "whelp this sucks" message)
Older rom, as in perhaps a Jellybean rom? Sense or aosp?
Yep, on a 6.09 build number.
Thanks.
I tried many different ways to get s-off on HBoot 1.57. All failed.
Only option working is SunShine, which costs me USD$25.
But it is surely fast and effective.
Check your emmc chipset. If it begins with 9001, you won't be able to s-off without Sunshine - if it's any other you should be fine. I managed to s-off with OnePlus One CyanogenMod 11S rom.
Hi, I have just bought an M7 for my daughter (used)
It is now unlocked, rooted and twrp installed. Can't get rumrunner working and after reading advice I installed elementalx kernel. Still no joy.
So biting the bullet I installed sunshine, however it doesn't like my kernel and yes you've guessed, long day, tired and didn't backup.
It's Hboot 1.57, 4.4.3, sense 6 build no 6.09.401.5 (UK, network unlocked)
Tried looking and I can't find the stock kernel to reflash
Plus while I'm here, with this combo is sunshine the only S-OFF option?
thanks in advance.

Sunshine is your best option. But you should try rumrunner or firewater with Bulletproof kernel.
If all else fails flash Android Revolution HD it is custom but it's very close to stock. Especially if you don't install xposed and any other tweaks. Sunshine worked for me on ARHD. MaximumsHd also has success with sunshine.
