CM9 vs AOKP vs Gummy vs Steel Droid vs

(sorry if the title is misleading, this is not a comparison)
It seems to me that all of the ICS roms that we currently have for the droid 3 are quite similar. So similar in fact that I can't tell the difference. They all have the same bugs (no video recording, no face unlock, bluetooth on but not connected blah blah blah).
From what I've gathered, CM9 is performance based and AOKP offers more customization. Other than that, what are the differences between these 4 roms? What do they offer in comparison to the others? If I'm wrong and some roms lack the above bugs, please correct me.

i kinda agree. i have yet to try the new steel droid. im loving the aokp.
AFIAK, some of these latest ROMs like Gummy, and the MotoBlur just add onto existing functionality into AOKP.
The reason the "bugs" are so similar is because Hashcode and Dhacker29 have some type of shared hardware base code that is compiled against the CM9 and AOKP source.
Once they figure out how to get the HWCodecs going, I'm sure we'll get the video recording, possibly face unlock and video playback. I think that Hashcode already figured it out, but he may have ran into some kind of licensing issue which prevents him from releasing it (or getting sued).
From my experience on Gummy and AOKP, Gummy has phenomenal battery life, but AOKP boasts tons of modifications. Also, Gummy doesn't have docking and dock audio yet, and this is why I'm back on AOKP, but I'm considering trying CM9 and/or SD5 over the weekend.
I can tell the difference. They all have different options and system settings, they used altered launchers as well. Also AOKP has really neat toggle options.

[REQ] ICS for LG Thrill/O3D

I know this is asking a lot, but I thought I'd just request it and throw it out there. I'm not a proffessional developer or anything that's for sure, but I don't think it should be that hard to port ICS to the Thrill/O3D. The only reason it's not out already is because literally nobody has been working on it, and it's a little upsetting to me. And to be honest, I could care less if the 3D capibilities worked on the ROM or not. ICS for LG Nitro has been released on XDA I believe, I've seen a video of it. Wouldn't it be easy just to port that release onto the Thrill instead of starting from scratch and creating ICS for the Thrill? Plus, I love the new UI LG has came up with for it's ICS phones, and I believe that UI is included for the released update for the Nitro. I don't know, I'm just throwing this out there since nobody seems interested in it anymore, maybe I can get some developers out there working on it? It'd be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
That would be cool I would like to see this

I think they have to wait until the ICS source gets leaked or ICS official update for the LG Optimus 3D comes out.
Would be nice though.

Theres always a way, just not enough developers on this forum.
well i just did a little research last night and found out that the only device (from like 7 phones) that has our chipset cpu/gpu and is running ICS is the samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0
and lg is suposed 2 release ics for o3d on 3Q this year... so lets wait?
Looks like the LG Spectrum is close to getting ICS. At least LG is trying to update something here in the U.S. at a respectable time:

Maybe the O3D doesn't have enough hardware to run ICS. And I used a ported Prada rom before, it really was built on O3D's v21d, just the framework of Prada. In short a developer can only insert mods and packages on our (built for O3D) roms, you even have to flash LG's compatible baseband to get a custom rom running properly
And I do believe the 3DMax was built to run ICS instead of our O3D, it's probably the only purpose
Guys , do we have any updates on this thread?? I'm dying to upgrade android on my LG Thrill.
P.S. I have spent some time to find something.
Unfortunately couldn't find ANYTHING
Big Thanks in advance
ICS was ported a few weeks ago. It is compatible with your Thrill.

Will Kitkat be OG Droid-friendly?

So the system requirements for Kitkat have been reduced. considering how JB runs somewhat okay-ish on the OG Droid, I'm optimistic it will run even better.
I'm running Gingerbread right now because of how awesomely stable it is, but I'm thinking that Kitkat could be a legit upgrade for my Droid. Are you looking forward to kitkat?
This can also be bumped when a build is released, to discuss general performance.

A major hurdle for the Droid for running KitKat stably is the same problem that plagues ICS for the Droid is that Ti stopped properly OMAP3430 so the drivers to make things run properly don't really exist. Drivers are the main reason KitKat for the Droid besides condescending the file system to fit on it's ROM memory will be difficult to become stable. This being said it's definitely going to be a fun project to try.
This would be interesting to see. Neat to see some activity here for the og. I keep one around for wifi and recording tunein
I'm hoping somebody gives it a try. I keep my DROID around for a wifi media device and as a MyTracks recorder on my motorcycle rides.
Now that my Gnex has a suitably stable and bug free Kitkat Rom (thanks to Cyanogenmod 11 and Shiny Roms) is anyone working on KitKat for Sholes? Pretty please! Honestly I was never satisfied with Jellybean Sholes and went back to ICS. But KitKat would be a blast, if just for the bragging rights.

[Q] What's Your Favorite AOSP/AOKP 4.4.X ROM?

I have a Verizon LG G2 and i was wondering what your favorite Stock android/CM/AOSP/AOKP/etc. ROM was. I am on PAC-Rom right now on the latest nightly an i am looking for great battery life, stability, and smoothness. This is a poll, but leave a reply explaining why you like the ROM you are on/ like a lot so I can make a decision, and I know someone is going to say "Try some ROMs and see which one works best for you." But I already know that, I just want other people's opinions because I know development for the Verizon LG G2 isn't the greatest right now, It has the least support of all of the G2 variations other than the Korean model F320x. I want to help myself, and other's learn of some cool, stable, and smooth ROMs. Alright, 'nuff talking... What is your favorite 4.4.x ROM for the VS980?
Mahdi by far. Its based on AOSP with some great features.

I like AOKP for my device. The stability is the best for me. Very small amounts of sods and no other issues I can find on my day to day use. Seem to sod a lot more on other aosp ROMs. Every device seems to be different on what works best so I would try them all and decide.

I like CM11. It's been very stable overall (VS980) on the M4. I'm planning on trying out Mahdi and a couple others to see what features they have to offer. I've had great battery life with CM; close to a day and a half with 6-8 hours screen on time.
I've got to go with Plain Andy. I ran it for a few days before I jumped to 24A, and out was the only non-LG ROM that didn't give me any SODs or RRs.
Now, it's not nearly as customizable as many of the other flavors out there, but I found Xposed + Gravity Box gave me ask the features I wanted.
Im currently on liquid smooth. Been three days and I haven't gotten an sod. First reboot was this morning, but I can deal with reboots versus sod's.
Illusion, plain Andy, and liquid all run roughly the same kernel, so they should all have about the same stability.

I love SlimKat :good:
:highfive: It's only 155MB, very slim along with minimal Gapps, and very fast and stable.
Liquid smooth/CM11
Liquid smooth seems to run very beast on my G2....no problems at all
