AT&T LG G-Flex on T-Mobile with MobileHotspot - LG G Flex

I found few tips from different threads/forum in regards to the issues with AT&T unlocked devices to use Mobile Hotspot on T-Mobile network.
This solution worked on my recently updated and unlocked AT&T LG G Flex (D950)
I am using this device on T-Mobile network (now with working Mobile Hotspot! )
1. you need ROOT access, (towelroot didn't work for me but "stumproot" did, thanks to my fellow SDer baggy)
2. install SuperSU from Play Store.
2. use "SQLite Editor" app, (its available in PlayStore but only paid version works so pay it or google it )
3. open "SQLite Editor"
go to "Files" tab - > "data" -> "data" -> "com.android.providers.settings" -> databases -> settings.db -> system -> Search for "tether" -> change "tether_entitlement_check_state" value to 0 -> save it
4. reboot phone & go to settings -> "Tethering & networks" -> click on "Mobile Hotspot"
It will work now and won't get any error msg.
I just did this and thought of sharing to all of you. It works with my phone and theoretically it should work with yours too. N'Joy!

I don't have a line called "tether". The only line with the word
"tether" in it is "tether time". And that value is like 620000. Would please provide screenshots.
I know there is a "tether_fun_required" line and a
"Package_verifier_enabled" line in APS tab/ system settings/ settings.db/ global. Both of those values must be changed to a "0" if youre on KitKat 4.4.2. But I can't find the other line you speak of.

Let me apologize I now see it says "AT&T phones on T-Mobile ". I have a T-Mobile phone. I'm sorry. That's what I get for reading and responding to these things riding down the road.

It works great. Thank you

it works!!
This just saved my lg flex from getting posted on ebay thanks man

Thanks just tried it and it worked!

I've seen somewhere where a guy posted about the at&t version and the settings/database lines that need to be changed are a little different from T-Mobiles so I couldn't tell ya if its the same or different. But I think I've also seen a sprint forum on the tether hack.

I can confirm that it works on the ATT model and ATT Cricket wireless service .

[Q] Updated to Marvel Rom no data connection

Hi would appreciate your help with the below mentioned problem. I upgraded my LG P970 to marvel rom but have lost my mobile data network.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Check your APN setting, configure manualy or through SMS from your provider.
No data connection with Marvel 11 on P970G
I flashed Marvel 11 last night. I'm loving the ROM, but I'm having the same problem with regard to data.
I'm able to send and receive texts/calls, but no data connection.
Were you able to resolve this? If so how?

Bingo! The APN page was blank. I called my carrier and they supplied me with all the pertinent information and I'm back in business! Little by little I'm figuring this sucker out. Thanks so much for your help. You rule!

I'll thank you anyway!
I fixed the same problem
I had the same problem and fixed it just last evening.
Per advice I received on xda, I looked on: System Settings --> Wireless & Networks (more) --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names
The screen was empty.
While in the Access point Names screen, I tapped the menu button and selected --> New APN. I called my service provider and they gave me all the info I needed to reconnect - IP address, web address, port, etc. There were a good dozen entries, but they walked me through it.
Was rather painless, actually.
Hope this helps. :good:

Au contraire my good androcraze! pk76 is the embodiment of awesomeness!! pk76's wisdom, knowledge, assistance and amazing promptness is only outshone by my callous disregard for social niceties and utter failure at giving credit where it is well due and deserved.
My hat is off for your having pointed out my deficiencies. I stand humbly corrected.
Thank you in all sincerity, pk76!

[Q] is there a way to fix the mms issue?

I've had a samsung focus and recently upgraded to the focus s and I've had the same issues. I'm under T-mobile the mms doesn't work. i cant receive pictures or send them. if anyone knows of a fix that can help me out it would be much appreciated as i know many other people have been trying to solve this puzzle.
Found a fix!
1. Open Wireless Manager
2. edit APN
APN Name: TmobileUS
Internet (always on)
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Auth Type: None
Click Done

Hey I'm looking to unlock my S and use it on mobile as well. Could you recommend a specific service you used? Also what plan, I'm just curious.
I'm on tmobile. I used cellunlock.net and applied coupon code "android50" to make it $20. It took almost day to arrive to my e-mail though. I think some on ebay and cellunlocker.net does it for $25 and it comes in 15 mins if you are in a hurry.
ur step didnt work for me..
also replied to you in win7 forum..haha
I did the debrand and unlock to receive the latest samsung update but I'm pretty sure MMS was working before I did this.
Are you guys also using the Wireless Manager app that was downloaded from the samsung zone, market? and make sure data is on
the setting in the earlier post did not help... anyone got there mms to work on tmobile?? please share.
---------- Post added at 11:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 PM ----------
is there a way to get the HTC app called "Connections Setup" to work on Samsung Focus S phone? I know that HTC phones can use that app to apply T-mobile settings to the phone and will allow to do mms and data.
i tried out this fix that you guys said to do changing the apn with wireless manager no dice =/
any other suggestions
i have a samsung focus s and on tmobile thanks!

How-To Adblock Without Rooting (mobile data adblock working)

I didn't see this readily available and with many people not wanting to root and trip their Knox counter, I thought I'd show you how to get adblocking without root. This will work on both wifi and mobile data.
--First step would be to install Adblock Plus APK. I got mine from: https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install
--After installing, run the app once and activate filtering. It should now be blocking all ads on wifi only. To enable adblock on mobile data you need to add a proxy to your APN.
--Go to system settings>network connections>more networks>mobile networks>access point names. What you need to do now is go to you default APN and copy down all the settings. We only do this because you cannot edit the original APN it seems. Now create a new APN and enter in the copied settings. The only additional settings you add to add to the new APN is:
---Proxy: localhost
---Port: 2020
Make sure you set the new APN you created as active and adblocking should be working! I have done this on my T-mobile S5. Hopefully some of you will find this useful.
I can confirm this works, just tested it several times. Thanks!
Gonna give this a test.

I had to modify my proxy for wifi and the app seems to be working (I need to find something that has ads, ha)...but I'm unable to modify my AP on my sprint s5.

Works with all my wifi, only added proxy and port. Android apps looks nicer now thx, still didn't tested it on mobile data

Hi guys,
Sometime Adblock Plus crash... quite annoying.
I've decided to root mostly for AdAway ...
it works well on tmobile croatia , just added new apn
Thanks for this, it works, but have to manually add proxy and port to every single wlan network.
It is working for me.
It doesn't seem to work with Verizon phones. Anyone no verizon get this to work? Apparently you can't even create new APN's on verizons s5
Works great. Thanks so much!!!!!!
Works!
And we have to do this settings in every wifi network or just once ?
Thanks
Followed instructions exactly. Filtering says enabled, new APN selected. Still not working for me. AT&T variant S5.

How to get free mobile hotspot without root

Hi. This post is for those that don't want to root (if you are already rooted you can still follow this) but want hotspot. This method is similar to the LG G3 but some how works on the LG G4 without root.
I made a video. Enjoy.
https://youtu.be/j3Di9d7w1so
It's safe to upgrade to ZVB as long as you do the trick below.
Some good news, a few people have figure out a way to keep the tethering. It requries you to downgrade back to LP (if you are on marshmallow)
(Directions created by Bombillazo, thanks to antonio824
1) On ZV6, used the steps to get to IOT menu to change APN settings.
2) Selected LTE settings > APN settings. Open the App close button (square one on the bottom menu) and check that you have separate instances for the ITO and APN menu. THIS IS CRITICAL DO NO CLEAR THEM OR CLEAR ALL!
3) Applied the MM update (ZV9 and or ZVA).
4) Let the upgrade finish and reboot.
5) When finished press the square button again and go to the APN settings window. You should be able to select the n.ispsn APN again and add dun to APN type. (NOTE: IOT will close if you select it but it doesn't matter. The important one is the APN settings window).
6) Congrats! You have Wifi tethering with MM!
7) Just in case you wanna test like I did, don't close the APN settings window and try to update system stuff to see if it changes the APN settings. I can confirm that updating your profile on the System Updates menu will undo the APN type change.
In MM, you can pin apps to the recents menu so it can't be cleared by "clear all"
Welp, this is the end folks, the new Marshmallow update (ZV9) has patched this trick. Feel free to try it to make sure but as far as I know, it doesn't work. Had a great run!
omfg i love you.
Thanks so much! Now unlimited data has a proper use
Just going to add, if, after enabling tethering, you get a popup saying "Due to network issues, tethering has been disabled, go through the same steps and select cinet.spcs instead of internet in the APN settings.

You are the man. Awesome and easy to do.:fingers-crossed::laugh:
As far as I can tell this just bypasses the check to see if tethering is enabled on your plan. Can't they still tell that the data traffic is tether traffic? After all it does show up under mobile data as "Tethering and hotspot"
I don't think they even check if the data is coming from tethering or phone use. How do custom roms work? They just enable hotspot without checking same here.
I'm not worried about Sprint monitoring data usage... Normally I hover around 10-15Gb per month usage, with a moderate amount of tethering. But about two years ago, I used a Galaxy Nexus hotspot as my home internet for about 9 months with no issues. Downloading ISOs, streaming, VoIP, etc. Regularly over 100Gb usage, never a peep. Stopped doing it because I got sick of listening to my wife complain about having to restart the phone every few days. In retrospect I should have just put a tasker script on there to reboot it nightly and toggle the hotspot back on.....

US Cellular Note 5(N920R4) ON CRICKET - keeps switching to Verizon -

I have US Cellular N920R4 (NOTE 5) and trying to get it to work on Cricket -
Step 1- The phone was factory reset before putting in Cricket sim, after booting under setting >> Mobile Networks>> Network mode - I set it to LTE/GSM/UMTS
Step - 2 Under Network Operators - I selected the manual option and searched for providers - the search showed AT&T, Verizon and US cellular - I selected AT&T
Step -3 Under APN - I manually added Cricket APN -
Now I do get AT&T for a short time, I'm able to make and receive calls and SMS - Also get 4G in my menu - but after a few minutes I loose AT&T and the phone reverts to Verizon -
Can someone suggest what could be the issue ?
Also can someone share how to get to hidden menu band option (On other versions it is possible to get to it using *#2263#) and is there an option to change "System Select" under mobile networks to be changed from "CDMA roaming mode" ?

There's an app in the playstore called Samsung Phone Info and it has a function that will launch the full service mode root menu allowing you to get to all the available service screens, I'd just search that and download the free version by vndnguyen....
