Hi all,
I somehow corrupted my operating system while flashing a ROM intended for a non sprint HTC one.
When I restore my backup, the phone will boot, but there is no service, and the phone decides to reboot after about 2 minutes.
I've been trying to get a new rom onto my phone through adb, but when I try to do it, the file transfers via my computer, but on my phone, it says failed E: error executing binary in zip '/data'
Does anyone have any idea what might help me?
Thanks!!

S-on or s-off?
If s-on did you re-lock? Did you use the latest s-on firmware?

Hello Bro
My HTC One is bricked over a week, and I tried many times to flash custom rom but still not work.
I downloaded a lot of RUU file.
Only below file can pass the signature check. however, it failed in model check.
I don't know how to modify the RUU although I checked the message about ruuveal.
Anyone can help me, please!

Thanks for reply. My phone is bricked, seem I cannot s-off while looping in bootloader mode?
You can flash your own ruu though
That's the error you are getting it's saying you have the wrong ruu id number. What is the cid if your phone? Try flashing that ruu

Well honestly I have to say I find it very strange people wanting to go back to stock, I run ARHD 13.3 and LOVE it much better than stock.
But anyway, can you also post a "fastboot getvar all" (remove IMEI and s/n)
i want to go back so i can update my firmware... was trying to do it with fastboot but was having issues... i dont know if its because im on arhd 30 but it kept on failing on loading the firmware zip saying something about my cid

yeah adb has some issues with 4.3, but I think the updated HTC drivers v4.8.xxxx seem to work, I don't have the link, but sure a search should get you there.
but anyway, you were having firmware problems, right? those are flashed using fastboot, which works fine.
whenever you have time, explain what you want to achieve and where you're getting stuck. copy/paste of the command prompt would help
sorry meant the fastboot from command prompts that some phones with 4.2.2 firmware and on 4.3 rom the fastboot doesnt like that

That doesn't sound right, 1MB. firmware packages are usually around between 20MB to 40MB. probably a bad download. download again, and check MD5 sum preferably.

Can this be done? I got a Google Play Edition phone and decided I do not like stock Android on this phone. I would like it to be basically a stock developer's edition with Sense and all with working OTAs. Not really familiar with HTC stuff coming from Samsung. My HBOOT is 1.54 and it is S-ON. Can I do what I want?

I think you can do that if you get S-Off (use a tool called Rumrunner) and change your CID so you can flash the appropriate RUU. But why stock? The customized ROMs are so much more interesting.

So if I S-Off can I S-On? I think I read somewhere that was required for OTAs to work. I want stock just for the reliability and hassle free nature of it.

Oh, I don't know about that. The rumrunner forum post said they don't really know what happens if you S-On after S-Offing, and that you might not be able to S-Off again. I wouldn't chance it.

Okay so I've unlocked the bootloader, S-OFF'd, changed to superCID, relocked and tried to run the RUU.exe. I keep getting Error 155: UNKNOWN ERROR. Not sure what to do here. I've also tried using the CID BS_US001 and also some combinations involving an unlocked bootloader. All the same error.

You have S-off which is good. I'm going to ask you to use the BS_US001 CID. Try downloading the 1.29.1540.17 zip from HTC Dev. Do a fastboot oem rebootRUU and flash the zip from there. It should prompt you to do this twice.

As far as I can tell you have met all the criteria for running the RUU, I'm not sure why you're running into this. My last suggestion is to try a different USB port. Hopefully someone else will chime in on this if that (which i don't imagine will) does anything at all.

You may be right. Let's have you downgrade the Bootloader to 1.44 and then try running the RUU again.
Just remember that you already have the right MID and CID. CID you changed yourself, MID already matches as the Google Play Edition shares the same MID as the Developer edition (and a few other North American HTC Ones).

What is your MID? Have you changed your CID for the RUU? And did you downgrade the hboot?

And then re-encrypt the phone if you still need it encrypted.

Thanks so much for the answer.
Can I make a backup somehow to recover from? Also if I installed apps from another country from Google Play that are not available in the country I am in now, will those apps come back, since they have been installed from Google Play?

hi! you can use third party PC apps like moborobo to backup your downloaded user applications, then install it back to the phone.

Apparently it worked. Booted fine, just starting to restore settings.
Thanks so much!!
OK, so I need to root this again. Any hints on what is the best method, keeping in mind that I will have to encrypt it sooner or later?

unlock bootloader, flash twrp 2.8.6.0, boot in twrp then exit. Twrp will prompt you to root the phone before rebooting, select "yes"
If this method doesn't work then flash supersu.zip 2.46 from twrp.
