It won't work with Lifelog. You can use Gear Fit though, notifications are ok, what you won't have is Fitness stats synced to app. Also, Endomondo won't work.
Thanks its gunna be the swr30 then.. Any other apps that work with the smartbands

Atooma seems to be a rudimentary tasker type app.
I played around with a bit, made a profile where the vertical movement would silence my phone but the controls are way to sensitive. Just moving your wrist is enough to trigger the action. Not a bad start I guess, what profiles or uses can you guys think of?
Another semi cool action I made is when I flick my wrist, my phone opens up google now.

May be a cool way to send quick messages, need to check it out more.
I tried to set up a rule to send gmail messages, but when they come through on the gear, it just give the subject and time of the email and says to check the phone for more info.
This is interesting, are we installing this on our gear or our phones ?
Both. you need the app on your phone from the play store and the Gear app from the Gear manager app store.

You can install Wondershare Mobile2Go on pc (free trial 30 days), then appmonster free on Galaxy Gear and you can share Atooma's apk.
No root required, only debug usb enabled.
Here's the Atooma apk

Thank you thank you !
I assume this is for the gear ? Could you please supply the apk for phone ?
EDIT: Verified the APK supplied is for the gear.
The reason for this is the Atooma APK we have available on the play store is not compatible with gear.
Here's the APK from the phone
(It is too big to attach to the forum)
I've stopped using it on the Gear as the notifications just say to check the phone for more detail.
Using the Samsung email app seems to be the only way at the moment to get email details to the Gear.
I cant get these working together !
I install both apk's, although I cant see any options for the gear on the atoomba app..
I just recieve a "Please check Atooma phone app." error on the gear.
^^^I get the same as well
After both are installed(phone and watch) you have to enable the gear as a device in the Atooma phone app.
It's under the "connections" tab.

I have a Galaxy S4 but would love to not have this TW Rom anymore and move to Cyanogen or something. So....it's still not possible to have all the features working on the Gear if I move from TW? I really want to keep my watch stock.

Correct. Although wether watch is stock or not makes no difference
yeah, could you elaborate ? I got a replacement phone (a xperia sp) which is up to date. So I think that it should be quite similar to your z1. I'm on 4.3 too. How did you get it work ? I only managed to have a full connection with v1.6.111801 of gear manager, and still notifications weren't working.
How did you do with latest gear manager ? I tried by installing only, or everything... and can't get it connecting to the gear. Just stays on first screen "connecting to gear..."
Any help ?
I'm interested to know as well.. I'm looking at getting the Z2 and would love it to work with my Gear
great
You make my day mig1421, I`m finally no need to replace my moto g with any Samsung.
Loving this.

So the gear will work on any device running the touchwiz launcher and Gear Manager or just Gear Manager? I use Nova Launcher and would prefer to stick with it especially if I change to a non-samsung phone

Launcher has nothing to do with gear manager, touchwiz framework is necessary although in this topic people are saying the new update is less dependant on touchwiz.. you can use any launcher you want it has nothing to do with the files needed to run gear manager..

You definitely don't need a Samsung phone to have the phone work with the Gear. I've had my Gear running with a Moto E and a Moto G - neither of them were rooted or modded in any way. I just installed the latest Gear Manager from a link on here after updating my Gear to Tizen. It's worth mentioning that I was running an old version of Gear Manager originally and my battery wouldn't even last half a day. Since I installed the latest version I'm getting days of use out of it -- having activated only Tweeting, Hangouts, WhatsApp and Gmail for notifications and turned off the auto activate backlight feature. It's four days since I charged and I'm still on 72%
None of the Samsung apps show up on the phone if it isn't Touchwiz based - so there's no S-Voice or Weather. I can use the Bluetooth Trusted Device feature on my Moto to have my phone turn PIN off when my Gear is connected to it.

Good to hear. My last question: Will you still be able to use the speakerphone to make and answer phone calls with a non-Samsung phone?

Yes. I do it all the time. The only difference between doing it on a non Touchwiz phone compared with a Touchwiz phone is that the phone sees it as a handsfree device so will answer on the Gear by default, even if you hit the answer button on the phone. You just need to tap the little icon next to the 'End Call' button on the Gear though and it will route the call back to the handset. You can also tap the bluetooth icon on the dialer and switch the source to earpiece or speakerphone. Bit of an annoyance but not a particular problem.
Hello, I currently run with my Garmin (GPS) watch, a nano and no phone because the Note 3 is too big. I want to just run with one watch that will be able to track my results and sync to mgt phone when I get back to the car.
A camera should be a huge plus as well.
Thanks in advance.

Dude your only options are the MotoACTV (discontinued) and the Adidas miCoach smartwatch.
Unfortunately the original gear, gear 2, gear fit, and gear neo require another device for gps to work. So they won't be able to map your runs. They will count your steps though. Rumor has it that the upcoming gear 3 can be a standalone device. We'll have to wait and see.
I swear there used to be a built in weather app on my Gear 2 Neo, but I can't find it anywhere. Was it removed by Sammy?

Ya. I installed a new ROM (Hyperdrive) and it's back, on my old ROM (Darthstalker), it was nowhere to be found. Weird.
