I'm new here so please be nice to me plus i apologize if my english is bad and please take your time to read. I REALLY NEED HELP
SO here it is
. i got my xperia z a month ago and updated the firmware version last week. But the problem is not there.
the Big problem is. me and my friends had a vacation and i am very confident to use my phone to use it on water but not totally submerged.... only on the surface of water where we can take some pictures.
I am very sure and 100% sure that I securely close the flaps ALL FLAPS. before taking it to the pool. we manage to use the phone to take pictures and take some video but NO ONE submerged it underwater. we use it like 10 - 15mins only.
After an hour not using it, i checked my phone to see if someone emailed me or sms me. and i found some problems in my phone. i saw the front and back camera including the led flash is moisted. YES moisted INSIDE. and found the screen not hanging, not lagging but glitching so then i turned off my phone because i was too worried it may die when i keep it open. BTW the battery level is somehow 50+% more. then after 4 hours when i saw the moist in both of the camera is gone.. i opened my phone and BOOM the battery level downed to 1% then after less than a minute my phone DIED. i tried to charge it for the first time and after an hour it turned on. and yes turned on directly to the lock screen. i know and as far as i know. when the battery is drained and charged you're not suppose to be on the lock screen in instance. you must be on the charging status where you can see the battery logo charging with the electric sign or the flash sign or whatever.
Then i tried to unlock my screen without a problem and still pretty smooth to use but after an hour or two the battery is still on 1% then i tried to run the camera and it DIED again. yes my Z died again.
We got home. after 4 hours of travel and within the 4 hours i didnt open or charge the phone. after that long hour when i got home. i charged the phone. Tried to charge it in a wall charger and tried it in usb connected to desktop charge but it only shows me a blinking red notification light.
i tried to turn it on but it wont. i tried to hard reset it with power button + volume up but nothing happen
So a while ago i brought my phone to the nearest Sony Service Center. Unluckily the phone is not yet available here in my country (philippines)
they said that the water went through inside and damage the processor, or something like the motherboard or something like the one that makes the phone alive. I ask them if they can fix my phone. they said there is no probability because the phone is not yet available in my country and so as the parts. he said if we try to repair it now it'll cost you like you bought a brand new one. so i was shocked and very sad.
I bought this phone on a Trusted online store but they can't help me. they have a 3days replacement warranty and a 1 year service warranty but as the rules follows. The Warranty is voided if a water proof or water resistance gadget is damaged by water or liquid device. my phone is 1 month old.
I am very depressed because here in the philippines its like gold to buy that phone. I'm a bit depressed about the Sony commercial boosting up my confidence to wet my phone. even if I / we didnt submerged it.
I need help! what do i do? i really love my xperia z and its my first flagship phone.
Take it to the service center and ask them to escalate this to area manager...

they did send it to area manager, but the manager said the same thing "Xperia Z is not yet available in the philippines and so the parts" but i saw some article and forums that the phone will be available by april.. its this month
Did you tried to dry the phone with hair dryer?And keep the phone on charger for hours.

for the past 24 hours upto now. i dried my phone through the heat of sunlight and the use of fan. I'm charging the phone right now but its notification light is different from what i expect. instead of a consistent red light - turned to green when almost full or fully charged... for about 6 hours now its only a blinking red notification light with 3-5 seconds interval.
I think you cannot change it on warranty, take a look at this link (it is from Sony Mobile) where it says ``Do not use your device in the following conditions:`` : http://userguide.sonymobile.com/ref...ter-resistance---For-extended-Guide-only.html
P.S. That IPX7 think means : Temporary Immersion, Protected against the effects of temporary immersion in water. So it is not that fun to play in the swimming pool
damn man...I washing my phone everyday because is getting dirty.
So they declined to repair by warranty ?

yes i've seen this link before. but the fact that i / we didnt submerge it underwater. the phone itself got wet from splashes of water from the swimming pool which is not too hot or too cold. its in average temperature. after an hour or less. i saw some moisture on the front and rear camera including the led flash light.
so does this mean i have no other choice but to buy a new one? ( but i can't, the phone's price is like gold here in Philippines )
is there no / any other solution?

the 3 days replacement warranty is over. the fact that i have this phone for a month now
1 year service warranty is voided as the rule said :
"*Service warranty only includes :
Free of charge on installation of parts needed to replace, price of parts is charge.(Wet damage"even if it waterproof", Drop damage is warranty void)"
You got warranty form sony. (1Year)
OPEN DAMN FLAPS and check there is white indicators. If it's still white it was NO WATER DAMAGE !!!
So take this garbadge to sony and say it's suddenly shut down.
This is it. Do not tell is water damage or something liker this. You woke up and saw your phone is died.

So True!!! have you checked the white indicators? I they are all white and they should replace your phone, if they are red-ish then you gotta argue with them and tell them to examine the phone because you didn't do anything wrong.

Go to a Sony Store and tell them your phone has died without your own knowledge.
If they ask you something about "did u put the phone in water?" you can say I washed my phone 1 day before with water.. and all the flaps were closed.. (if you think it's damaged by water, open the flaps and check the white indicator.. Every flap contains a white indicator) If there is nothing wrong with that, it's damaged by something else.. So check that first, and after go with "a" story to Sony Store for your 1 year warranty.. And it should be ok

sorry for my late response.. i forgot to mention that the white indicator has turned red...
- the micro SD and the micro USB flap are slightly red
- the headphones flap is totally red.
anyway. i bought this ONLINE, not from a sony store, The Store said it has a 3days replacement warranty and a 1 year service warranty.... is the one year service warranty is the Sony Warranty? or is different?

You should check the law about replacement, in Slovenia we said that "Law on Consumer Protection". We have unofficial 8 days replacement, btu by the law, we are protected for 2 months from the day we bought an article.

when i bought the phone it's really in its perfect condition so service warranty will remain but the fact that they said :
*Service warranty only includes :

it means i have to spend another bucks to repair it but as of now they said that the parts of this model is not yet available in my country.
regardless of the country, the COMPANY of SONY gives a 1 year warranty.
if you are unsure about philipines, send it to someone in a different country like japan or usa and they should send it in for warranty.

if the indicators are red, water MUST HAVE gotten to the inside, and this is very bad. maybe the flaps were not really secured tightly but only loosely. nobody knows how water got through 3 different flaps and sony may check the flaps.
if they are closed and no water comes through, then it's pretty obvious, that they were not closed "correctly" / pushed in very hard all the way down.
even if it's that much worth like a ball of gold in the phils, it "may be" your fault that it got damaged.
i don't know how that happened, but the indicators are there for a good reason.
if you had it with you in the pool, maybe water could have gotten from ONE loose flap to the others. but if you only had it get some drops of water on the front and back, that possibility should not be there.
so ask yourself once again how water could have gotten to all the indicators or did you open them with wet fingers to connect cables ?

I am very sure that the flaps (ALL FLAPS) of my XZ are secured tightly. I'm pretty sure too that before i open the flaps after several hour i dried it using a towel and pretty sure that my hands and fingers are dry before i charge it.
can you provide a link where i can message them and investigate my phone? i'm really missing my XZ right now

hey.. I'm from Philippines too and i have the same problem, but there are some differences. like , i let my friend use my phone to take picture under the pool, so he submerged my phone but not deep, like just 4 inches. then he returned it to me. and i set the timer then gave it to him again and he took picture, by the third time.. i was checking my phone the camera didnt work i exit, then touch the camera icon and it says "camera error", so 1st. i submerged my phone and you didnt
2nd i could still use it, the camera is the only problem. i listened to 3-4 songs then, i stopped and played minion rush. for like 3 runs, after 2hrs, i let my friend play my phone (take note my front and back camera also moistened) then it suddenly just turned off. not shutdown. just off, turned black..
3rd the moist on my main camera is still there
then i perform an inspection. i open each flaps, and there are no traces of water except in the flap cover of my memory card, i was shocked because i also made sure that the flaps are all closed before using it in the pool. i dont know how the water managed to enter the closed flap then i took my memory card out its not that wet but you can see very little water. then i brought immediately to nearest sony (just an FYI. i bought my phone in Sony store in SM Bacoor) then they said they have this white water indicator, if it turned red or pink means a water really entered the device. my indicators (for each flap) is all white (even the flap cover of my memory card) so they cant say what was really the problem, and they said. the moistening of the camera is natural.. then they charged my phone thinking that the battery was just drained but i said no, the battery was 65 when it happened, but after a 1-2 minutes of charge. my phone OPENED !! then i told them i just updated my software. you know the 4.3 jelly bean and they said the update might have something to do with what happened to my phone. so the water isnt only the responsible for my problem
and also my phone glitches while on lockscreen.. after it opened :'( im bringing my phone again in PASIG . SONY at megamall recommended me to take my phone to pasig branch. (i thought in MOA) so if you live nearby these places. you should bring it to PASIG branch. coz they said "only" pasig branch do the fixing thing
So, after I finally got the charging dock, after 3 weeks of charging the phone through the USB port, I decided to test it in water for the first time. I checked that the flaps were well sealed and put it in water, as it was showing a video. All good so far. After 2 minutes, I took it out and put it on a towel to dry. Still working. After 5 more minutes, I noticed that the USB cover was slowly coming out by itself. I pushed it back more securely, but it was still pushing out by itself. I opened it entirely then covered the port again securely. 15 minutes later, phone still working. I DO HOPE nothing went wrong. I will be back tomorrow with another update. I am not sure why the cover was acting up. I am sure I placed it well before I put the phone in water, I checked like 10 times.
Following morning, phone works well. Last night, I also opened the back cover and dried the drops of water in the area outside the battery protective rubber ring. I guess the phone is alright but I probably won't do the water exercise very often, I was nervous as hell

I always hesitate to put my XZR to test in water until last night when I was texting my gf when I was having my shower.
Pressure from my shower induced touches but it was expected.
Then I put it into test under water and it works just fine.
Now I'm just wondering how will it perform if I test it in sea for <1meter <10mins since the IP58 stated only for fresh water...
The word around the forums is that it will be fine as long as you clean it in fresh water immediately after so no salt can attach to the materials. But... I don't think I'm going to dip it in sea water. Good luck!

Haha if sony r wrote n decide the ZR is ip58 water resistant device u don't need to worry bro
yur device will be ok just check everything is close before u put him into water

Dock from amazon.co.uk, as I am in the UE . but of course I should worry. Just read how many Z users got them damaged by water. There have to be a few defective devices now and then and if you are unlucky, it can be yours fortunately mine seems to be ok.

if you actually did get a defective device and it gets ruined by water, then nobody will repair it for free.

Hello,
I also performed a water resistance test by putting the phone under the shower. All the flaps were closed and I was disappointed that water came under the back panel: the NFC port, camera lens and some interstices on the edges were wet. Does that mean the phone is water resistant... even inside ? :silly:
For those who tested it, did you also notice water under the shell ?

I think the OP could just rename the thread
I'm don't really want to drop my phone for testing but I think the screen is very resistant. It doesn't bend when we press hard on it because there is no air layer between the glass/touch panel and the screen itself, and all the components seem very close.
The frame of the phone also looks strong so I think the ZR is well cooked for drops. Anyway paying attention is the best way to keep a phone alive
It's normal that water goes in the camera part. The phone is fine unless the water goes in the battery part. You need to dry the water inside the back every time you put it in water.

there is an laternate dock on ebay for 10 USD, can't post link yet, just enter ebay and search "xperia zr dock" there are several sellers selling them.
i bought one, will probebly arrive in a week or more so i can review it.
and about the anti-shatter film, can anyone elaborate? is it supposed to help defend the glass from shatters? or just keep it from disintigrating once it's been shattered? cos the latter is disaponting.
It's meant to keep the glass from splintering after it shatters. It's pretty tough. Dropped the phone onto concrete from my hand, so about 4 feet. It survived although the frame got a bit of a dent.

frankly , i don't think that having a removable back cover in a waterproof device is a good idea , this thing will make alot of people (like me) hesitate before buying this phone , my brother has the Xperia Acro S , the phone is really solid build, he use it alot under water , he likes to listen to music while taking a shower ,and he always take the phone to pool trips. i dont think the the owner of XZR will dare to do it that often.
maybe i will have to change my mind about buying this phone, after the Z1 was announced.

well, you've seen what happend with the xperia Z, it's back is not glued right and water are leaking between the glass and the back into the device for a large number of people, not having a removable back doesn't nessecarly means better.
the ZR removable back actually looks good, this rubber band does a much better job then glue, and for most people who had leakage problem with ZR it was from the flaps and not the back.
now i wonder how can the acro s be more durable, the thing has 5 flaps!! thats 3 more than the ZR, so unless sony really lost thier game producing those flaps it shouldn't be any less better at it.

you have a point here , yes the removable back cover dose not mean it will be bad for water proofing , but still it is scary to try it in the water.
to sum the whole water proofing thing , i think that water proofed devices should have very few moving parts , and that is flaps and back cover...
Xperia Z1 and S4 active (that has removable back cover) share this feature of having only one flap , the uncovered -yet proofed- 3.5 jack is a big win. those seems to be better waterproofed devices.

I have to complain about the loss in faith I have had in this company I once trusted, considered reliable. I own a Sony Television, a PS3, Music System, POS Camera and now a Smartphone, the Xperia ZR. But the business policy and Service to Consumers have changed over the years, and this has caused a great emotional and economic distress to me.
I had bought an XPERIA ZR(C5502) on the 11th of September, 2013. After a month of use, suddenly the screen of the phone would not turn on. Other functions were working perfectly as far as my knowledge goes, (i.e. camera button, volume keys etc). A few days ago, it stopped booting altogether.
On contacting the Sony Service centre he informed me that I have done water damage to my phone, and therefore void my warranty. I repeatedly asked him to open(unscrew) the phone and check for any damages, but he told me that he wont open it, because some litmus paper inside the phone had turned red, indicating water damage. I persistently said that the phone has undergone no water damage, and is not turning on, so to please check for any damage inside and fix it as it was just a month old and was under warranty. I repeatedly told him that I have not brought the phone under water contact in any manner, to which he replied that then it was my fault during purchase, that I didnt check the water indicator strip, thereby asserting that I AS A CONSUMER AM NOT ASSURED A DEFECT FREE PIECE UPON PURCHASE. WHY DIDNT YOU PUT A CLAUSE FOR THE CONSUMER, THAT "PLEASE CHECK THE WATER INDICATOR UPON PURCHASE" ? THAT INDICATOR HAS BEEN RED AS FAR AS I KNOW.
ADDITIONALLY, THIS PHONE IS IDENTIFIED AS "WATERPROOF" BY SONY. But he said I had to pay 80% of the phone's actual cost, to get a replacement, and he will NOT REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO, HE ADDED, THAT HE WILL ONLY OPEN IT TO INSPECT IF HE GETS A SPECIAL EMAIL FROM SONY INDIA AUTHORITIES, INSTRUCTING HIM TO DO SO.
hey, 2 days ago i used my xperia z to took video underwater,,,, after about 5-8 mins underwater...color in my screen fade to white....so i did hard restart.....screen back to normal after 1-2min back fade to white......but every i turn off and turn on again (or restart) it'll be normal but after 1-2min it'll change to fade again, but the touchscreen still works, everything is ok but the problem is the screen back to white again and again.......how to slove this problem? please help me.....

if u r sure all ports were closed underwater just take it to official service for replacement.

Hey OP, I had the same problem after water damage. Just keep using your phone like normal, it'll start turning white/negative less often, and after 3 weeks or so, your phone will be back to normal!

i thought i should let put my xperia z to the sony service center....but i think twice to put it in ssc, cause in my country their service is very bad....the customer very difficult to use their guaranty....once again thank you for all your attention
Water damage isn't covered in the warranty, and it's expensive to repair. When my phone got water damaged (happened less than 48 hours after I got it), I put it in a bag of rice with the 2 smaller flaps open for a few days. That didn't help at all, so I decided to leave it in my cupboard with all the flaps open for a day or two. Surprisingly, this took care of all the visible condensation. I charged my phone after this, and there seemed to be no problem. I continued to use the phone like nothing happened, and I kept using it even while the screen was white.
I've had my Xperia Z for almost a month now, and the white screen issue is entirely gone. I also had other problems like condensation in the camera, a malfunctioning proximity sensor, and an external speaker that didn't work. These problems are gone too.
The only signs of damage left on my phone are condensation in the flash and a little silver blob below my screen (no clue what this is, but it doesn't seem to affect the phone).
I'd say leave your phone somewhere airy with ALL of the flaps open for a couple of days, and then try charging it. DO NOT USE A BLOW DRYER OR A VACUUM TO TRY TO REMOVE WATER, AS THIS WILL RESULT IN HEAT/STATIC DAMAGE.
By the way, how many of your water ingress indicators have gone red?

Water damage isn't covered in the warranty, and it's expensive to repair. When my phone got water damaged (happened less than 48 hours after I got it), I put it in a bag of rice with the 2 smaller flaps open for a few days. That didn't help at all, so I decided to leave it in my cupboard with all the flaps open for a day or two. Surprisingly, this took care of all the visible condensation. I charged my phone after this, and there seemed to be no problem. I continued to use the phone like nothing happened, and I kept using it even while the screen was white.
I've had my Xperia Z for almost a month now, and the white screen issue is entirely gone. I also had other problems like condensation in the camera, a malfunctioning proximity sensor, and an external speaker that didn't work. These problems are gone too.
The only signs of damage left on my phone are condensation in the flash and a little silver blob below my screen (no clue what this is, but it doesn't seem to affect the phone).
I'd say leave your phone somewhere airy with ALL of the flaps open for a couple of days, and then try charging it. DO NOT USE A BLOW DRYER OR A VACUUM TO TRY TO REMOVE WATER, AS THIS WILL RESULT IN HEAT/STATIC DAMAGE.
By the way, how many of your water ingress indicators have gone red?

there 1 indicator have gone red, at charge port, but i really sure i've closed it before i brought it in to the water...
so if there is technical error when installation the port, are the warranty still valid ?
i just put my xperia in my bedroom and left with the ports opened, i hope the water inside my lcd can evaporate. I've the same problem with you, there are some silver blob below in my screen too, look like water behind the lcd. almost a week i never charge my phone, i'm afraid there will be shorting inside. so can i charge my xperia now ?
I put my iPod touch on the dash of my car for a day. It dried it out. No sign of water damage. It was in my pocket of shorts and my wife washed it in the laundry.

Yeah, but your iPod isn't held together by a heat-sensitive adhesive. The Xperia Z is. So that's not exactly the best idea...

Wow, that's funny. It's the same exact water indicator that's turned red on my phone.
The flaps on your phone could be faulty, and if they are, you are still under warranty. Next to your headphone flap, there is actually a Waterproof Test Hole, which Sony Service Centers use to test if your phone's waterproof capabilities are okay. The test hole can't be seen as there is a piece of plastic that covers it.
The thing is that it's more than likely that your phone will pass the waterproof test, and that your flaps came loose underwater when you were taking the video (pretty sure this is what happened to me as well).
Oh, and I can confirm that the silver blob is not water, but actually some sort of corrosion. It happened to my previous phone as well, and when I took it apart there was no water at in it at all.
Go ahead and charge it, you've got nothing to lose. Your warranty is void, and it's not like your phone will work without charge. Good luck!

i put my xperia z to sony service center yesterday, and They were looking for what ' s wrong with my xperia, and check is the warranty stil valid or not.....
but it'll surely need a long time, about 1 month++.....
I got my phone wet last week not thinking anything of it since the phone is supposed to be waterproof. Next thing I know the screen turned black but everything else worked fine. I inspected the phone to find water got into the camera lens so I let it air dry overnight. The next day It worked so i tried to do a test to see if the phone is waterproof. I got two small pieces of tissue paper and put them under the flaps and place the phone in about 4 inches of water for maybe 30 seconds. I pulled the phone out and dried it off let it sit for a minute then opened the covers to find water got into the phone again. I repeated this test again the next day to make sure it wasn't a fluke and the same thing happened. I then did the same thing without the 2 peices of paper to make sure the paper wasn't keeping the covers open and water got in my phone again and the screen temporarily stopped working again. I chatted with someone online to see if I could send the phone in to get it fixed and they told me it would take 14 business days and I had to call sony to get that set up. So today I just got off the phone with them and they said that they couldn't do anything because "theres nothing wrong with my phone" Even though I explained that it wasn't waterproof and that it was defective. She also said something about not being able to fix it because its not from the U.S but didn't say anything about that after I brought up sending it to a place where they can fix it.
Has anyone gone through this with a different sony phone and can help me to figure out what I need to do to get a replacement or am I screwed?

PS: you can test waterproofing WITHOUT water:
1) close the flaps
2) dial *#*#7378423#*#* (7378423 = SERVICE)
3) service tests/pressure sensor
4) press on the screen with your finger, pressure will rise
5) open a flap, press, pressure does not rise

I wish i knew about this before I tried putting it in water today. Im guessing if the pressure doesnt rise then its not waterproof?
Also i bought it from clove who told me to talk to sony.

That's the standard procedure, Sony will tell you to send it back to the retailer

Have you tried contacting Clove again to let them know Sony isn't doing squat for you? They seem to have a good reputation so I'd give them a chance to make this right. A lot of us have bought from Clove (and Handtec) and I know many were worried about what steps to take in case we ever needed support so I think I speak for all of us when I say we'd like to see you get this issue resolved as smoothly and quickly as possible. It would serve as a guideline for those in the future who experience any problems that require service.
Exactly, if pressure does not move then one of the flaps isn't sealed properly.
If it isn't waterproof, that's a warranty issue. But noticing that it isn't waterproof and then exposing it to water multiple times, even for testing, is insane.

Yeah it does sound dumb, but I only realised its not waterproof after water got in it already. water damage is water damage since the marker turned pink already putting it in water again isn't changing anything. I just wanted proof for my sake that it wasn't waterproof.
My Z3C is actually currently on its way back to SBE Ltd in UK(from WA, USA because USA sony won't touch it, also purchased from Clove) for a similar issue. The flap over my micro-sd card was allowing drops of water into the system(4 inches deep for about 2 minutes) even when closed as securely as possible. Initially the haptic feedback motor started misbehaving(would turn on and stay on, various speeds, even while the phone was off) and then finally the touch screen stopped accepting input.

Did they make you pay anything for the return? And how much convincing did it take on your end for them to accept the return?

I had to pay shipping to them(~$14 international first class, ups was trying to charge me $107). It took 3 emails(first they didn't really read, just said no b/c I was in the USA. Second, reminding them then the phone is a UK IMEI and the USA sony wouldn't touch it and that I believed the phone was damaged due to manufacturing error, and then 3rd that "yes, I want it repaired regardless")
I'm pretty sure that they are going to tell me I have to pay for the repair. But at this point it's either a $500 paperweight or w/e the repair cost is.

That's odd because a guy on this forum reported yesterday that Sony U.S.A. was accepting his UK device for warranty work... I wonder what the actual policy is or if it's luck of the draw...

The phone is not waterproof it's water resistant. There is a difference between the two.
Could be a faulty device and you should replace it.

The phone is definitely Waterproof, but to a certain limit. Just like Waterproof watches would say up to 100M for example, this phone is Waterproof up to the specifications of IP68. Water resistance can only withstand from things such as light rain, water splashes but not from submerging it under water.
Even the billboards they boast about the phone being Waterproof.
Waterproof is often used in marketing, the specification talks about resistance and protection iirc - since there's always some point at which the water resistance fails, with the IP code specifying exactly the minimum resistantance, it's never really waterproof. But that's really just nit-picking.

I'm going with luck of the draw. The first USA sony rep I got said that her system was down and couldn't look up my IMEI, that she would call me back(never did).
Second rep realized she couldn't look up my IMEI because it was a UK IMEI and told me that Sony USA would not accept it and that I needed to contact Sony from the country of origin(UK).

Wow that's awesome! Never knew this.
So tried it on mine, and I can safely say the pressure rises. Got the following values:
no touch @ idle: 989 millibar
1 finger regular touch 990 millibar.
4 fingers : 993 millibar (pressed hard enough not to feel flex in the screen)
Is that healthy? What values are you all getting?
Mi and my friend inserted our z1 and z in a fish tank playing a video but after a minute or two both phones stopped working and turned off and since then not starting.
When connected to charger it shuts down continuously and when we opened the flaps there was water in it..our flaps were intact still somehow the water got in and don't know how...!
Now we sent them for a repair.
Can somebody please tell what will charges and what can be the damage
I had a similar issue. Sony repaired mine under warranty.
If you send it in they will do a pressure test, which means shutting the flaps and seeing if it is airtight. If it fails they will repair it under warranty. If it passes they will assume you have left a flap open and they will not cover it.

So i called them and said i want it back refitted perfectly without any repair as the cost was high
And it started when i recieved it in galery..so i asked them..they said sometimes it happens..
Later..my friend's z also started the same way
So i called them and said the following..they replied mi bull****

I like my Xperia Z1 but this is absolutely my last phone from them... imagine dropping your belt on your phone and your phone breaking.. well that's what happened to my phone..
I've heard a lot of stories especially from Indian Z1 customers that had their phone die after placing it in water
Basically, if you don't have warranty don't put your phone in water and that's that.
I have never had any problem with the waterproofness... i have dipped it in water so many times and talked on phone in shower and been on a swimming pool with it ! No leaks like most of us ! Of course there will be some failure ones but the reason could be anything, maybe a flap was open, maybe the rubber seal from flap was broken or missing, or maybe the power button is leaking or something... As a reminder it should be really clean water and no salt water or anything like that or Sony wont cover it... maybe the water was not clean enough and that made it leak... in Finland we have really pure water everywhere...
