I'm using it with AT&T and would like to know how I can check for updates without a Verizon SIM.

Verizon upgrade assistant. It should pop up once you connect your phone to pc. Look for it and open it. It'll check to see if an update is available.

After removing the AT&T sim, I tried to install the verizon upgrade assistant, but it failed.
It didn't let me install..
Did it install without the verizon sim for you?

Yes, it works without verizon SIM. Just plug the phone into your computer, click to install verizon upgrade assistant, run it, and you're done.

I picked up an Sprint HTC One that had been flashed to NTelos (East coast carrier) and would like to flash it back to Sprint. I called Sprint and they verified that the IMEI # was clean and could be activated back onto sprint. Honestly I am not looking to activate the phone on sprint but temporarily to T-Mobile and shortly to a UK Cellular company. We are only in the US for another 12 days and I think that having the phone on Ntelos will potentially mess up the global capabilities of this phone. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Get root then sim unlock the device. It wont screw up anything. (If you want to sim unlock, there is a guide in general.)

Thanks for the info but I have been trying to get root access and it won't let me get past the recovery area. When I choose recovery it doesn't allow me to choose to install any thing, when I choose recovery it immediately does a restart with the red triangle. Please forgive me if I am missing something simple, I am still very much a noob but know just enough to get me in trouble. Thanks for the info.

It's very easy to flash back to sprint, all you really need to do is , flash a sprint prl then do ##786# then hit reset and should be good

Hi there.
I was just on my way to unlocking the bootloader of my XT1068 so I could install Lollipop with the TWRP Backup but I can't login to Motorola's website (so I can get the unlock code). Every time I try, be it via Google Sign-In or Motorola ID, it always says "Error. Service Error, please check your network connection and try again.". Besides the login part, the website isn't working properly.
Am I the only one getting this? I already deleted my browser history and data.

EDIT: I also tried changing my network to a hotspot, instead of my home network, and nothing.

Is there another way to get the unlock code/unlock the bootloader? My phone is in fastboot and I would love to get this thing unlocked today.

I know someone out there knows this answer. I keep getting the reminder to upgrade aND we'll I'm wanting to do it. But since the phone is originally a Note 5 Sprint and I'm using it as a Note 5 Family Mobile idk what to do. It works great as is but a change of some type would be cool. Anyways. Please let me know.
Oh and my phone is NOT rooted. Only network unlocked!
By unlocked, do you mean network unlocked? Usually I'd say it'll stay unlocked, but Sprint is one company I haven't unlocked the device from.
Perhaps you could install TWRP, make a backup, copy backup to pc. Upgrade, reinstall TWRP and restore upon failure.

I unlock Sprint note 5's from Sprint consistently. You can upgrade the firmware and the unlock will stick.
If it doesn't stick, download flexihub and send me a message i'll get you unlocked again.

That will not make a difference, you should be good to go.
Make sure you can install flexihub first before you upgrade just in case. I'm only able to unlock your device again if you're able to install flexihub. Need to access phone on my PC somehow. Flexihub allows me to access your USB ports.

As long as you have it installed youre good to go. If update takes unlock away i will give you login info of my account to login and we can do unlock again. Im almost positive everything will be okay.
Ok I live in canada and I bought a brand new note 8 off someone. It works great. I just noticed it's on android 7. So tired do OTA but it's says I'm on latest. Bear with me I'm not tech guy at all I'm going take it to shop and get them to help me or something. I called one cell place told me I have get a sprint card from USA that is active and has data to get update. That's not possible cause I don't know many people in USA. So I tried kies it tells me to down load smart switch I do it and I get my device is up to date. I have the SM-N950U. I think after this I stick with one from provider. I just don't wanna sign new contract. So traded for this one for my phone and cash. I really love it but I like features of android 8. So if there a link where I can get the update file and stuff I need for Odin I will have shop do it for me. I don't wanna mess up my phone but Im hoping get android 8 and samsung 9.0 then I be happy. Any help be great. If I can get to states or get someone mail me sprint sim lol be so much easier but I don't see that happening soon lol Thanks

You don't need a Sprint sim card you can do it yourself using odin and it's really easy to do.. What's the baseband that you're currently on? Tap settings then about phone and then software information and read the baseband. I will get you the link for the update firmware you need.

Here you go this is the August update for Sprint and the very latest one they have out right now although you can upgrade further but I wouldn't advise it yet since those aren't fully public yet.. After you're done downloading it you need to unzip it 1 time and put the files in their respective places and ignore the HOME_CSC file. Just turn the phone off and boot into download mode holding the power button the volume down button and the Bixby button all at same time and then you can read the screen and continue. Make sure you download the correct odin too by the way Odin 3.13.1 is the latest according to https://samsungodin.com and you can download it there.
So I should just wait. Does this mean there not official update for my phone maybe I will get the ota. It just not out yet. Is that why my phone saying i have latest version

That is the official update.. Since you're not using Sprint you're never ever going to get the over the air updates again unless you decide to switch to Sprint.. For example I'm on Verizon and I get the OTAs but if I were to switch to Sprint I'll never get the updates again unless I go back to Verizon and the reason this is, is because Sprint doesn't send out Verizon's firmware updates and Verizon doesn't send out Sprint's updates.. This means you have to do it yourself and the very latest update for Sprint is the link I posted all you have to do is download and flash it and if you've never done it before now is the best time to learn because if you're not switching to Sprint you're going to have to do it.

Sammobile is slow as hell I'd turn window defender off or download it with your phone and then transfer to a computer.. After you download the firmware just flash the needed files and not HOME_CSC yea whichever one you find should work just fine..

No you don't do anything but odin. First slot you put the BL file.. When you put the 2nd file in the AP slot it's so big that odin's going to say it stopped responding but leave it alone and it'll finish checking it and then move on to CP and then the CSC file and then tap start and give it about 10 minutes and that's all you have to do nothing else!! Only fill in the first 4 slots ignore the rest of them!

No there's no reason you would lose Samsung pay. You only lose that if you root the phone or for the international one if you unlock the bootloader. It'll be fine.

I gave you the file to update to oreo the latest update but that doesn't unlock the bootloader we cannot unlock the bootloader on snapdragon devices yet.

how do I downgrade it I tried to get the April update and flash via odin but IT WONT FLASH..... usb debugging on everything I don't like the fact that I cant turn the hotspot on with out it carrier checking all these years and suddenly they put carrier check and I WANT TO go back to the old version ive downloaded an old version with NO LUCk can anyone help this is the unlocked s21 ultra too!... it keeps carrier checking and I can't disable it from doing it...

If it's the U1 3AUDD update you can't downgrade. The bootloader revision has been bumped to 3 and there is no going back to bl 2.

I'm pretty sure you can't downgrade because the bootloader is a different version than the previous version. The number that is shown 5 characters from the right on your Build Number identifies the bootloader version. The May update took me to bootloader version 3. Prior to the upgrade, I was on bootloader version 2. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you can downgrade once you've updated to a different bootloader.

They upgraded bootloader so no going back.. Not sure if you can root.. But if so you can add command to unlock the hot spot..

May update clearly mentioned in it's changelog that it was not possible to go back to older firmware after updating. No dice.

I guess that was 1 benefit about the Pixels. No checking, just tethering!

Download Activity Launcher from the play store -> go to the search on the top right -> type in "tether" -> it should search for "Mobile Hotspot and Tethering (there should be 3 that pop up) -> choose the 2nd one -> click on "WiFi Hotspot" -> click On.
