you can not do it at home unless you have all correct needed things like the touchscreen glue/adhesive with you.
better give it so experienced local repairer or service center as glue needs to be applied properly as ZR is waterproof phone

Thanks for your reply. i am not considering keeping my water proof so my question is " can i do it without the touchscreen glue stuff ? " , i have the key tool for the replacement i does't seems to be so hard . Even though i am getting on to it for the first time
( it's all about budget and availability of the product . When i contacted a privet store about this they told me it'll cost around 8000 Rs = $127. When i contacted the Sony service center they told me they don't have service for this phone at there . so i decided to do it my own . Currently i am planing to buy a screen + digitizer from ebay around $55 . )

its more or less similar to all phones when come to reattaching touchscreen LCD. properly putting a thin line of glue on outer side n then putting the LCD carefully.

I ve replaced screens on zr , z , z1 compact.....zr and z1 compact are really easy to do.... Use heat gun and a knife and get the old screen out in pieces..... The connector is on front so you dont need opening the back...... Clean residue and connect nrw screen to test...if all good , just use silicone to glue the screen back , put something heavy on the top of it overnight....

New screens

My own screen has some scuffs and scratches, and i was looking for a new one. Now i know because of my old job that having it replaced at a repair-center (i worked at one) that will cost me something like 160 euro's.
But now i found a company (www.iiparts.com) on internet that sells the "samsung LTP280QV" displays for $75 a piece (for minimum of 5 pieces) and thats a good price i think.
These displays are used in the wizard and the magician ( :!: but Toppoly TD028STEB1 is also used, and they are not interchangeable :!: )
Maybe if there is enough interest for those displays we could buy some together (saves a lot of postage costs  )?
It is not my goal to make money out of this, but to all save money.
So if anyone who is seriously interested could PM me, then i'll see if its worth it.
Goodluck.

Same here
That's not what he is asking guys.
There are a lot of users who won't use protectors because of disadvantages with it.
So if anyone is interested in a new display and don’t mind to do some DIY then please add your thread.

thnks drifter, thats what i want to say. And as i saw on the forum, there are a lot of people who dropped their device and have a broken LCD. For them it's also a lot cheaper, and DIY doesn't matter for them because their warranty is already voided because of dropping it.
.....
I already have sent my 9100 to the repair center....
If they will ask me a lot, I will contact you soon.
Today I got back my PDA....
I have disassembled it to check the type of the screen but it is a "Toppoly TD028STEB1"
Do someone know where to buy this kind of screen?

That should get you started I imagine

BUMP!
Hallo?!?!?
anyone?
is there anybody out there?
My question is there a screen which has decent sensitivity. I have had two T-Mobile MDAs and both are pretty poor when it comes to screen tap sensitivity. Also I have a continuous problem with alignment. After about a week I have to carry out a hard reset. Example if I am searching in my contacts database and use the scroll bar on the right side of the screen instead of scrolling the contact the stylus is adjacent to is selected. I have tried screen recalibration and that does not correct the issue. The only resolution is to clear storage and that is getting very aggrivating. Any suggestions. I am running Mr. Clean rev 2.4a. Am I looking at a software glitch or a bad screen... My guess is a substandard screen.
Bump again....
I still need to get the screen!!!!!!
Do you know if there's an easy way to determine which screen is installed without having to disassemble the phone? My Wizard100 (Cing2125) is fairly new and I just want to avoid disassembly unless it is really, really, really needed...
Sorry but I have no idea how to get that info without "explode" the PDA.
It will help to keep the guarantee as valid
Taking the Magician and Wizard apart
Hi,
How easy is it to take the magician and wizard apart?

I've looked on the net for hours and not found any instructions. On this site I have seen people talk of repairing their phones but no guides or indication of how easy/hard it is
thanks,
Graham.
OK, I found the service manual for the wizard at:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Docs_Tutorials/Wizard_Service_Manual.pdf
but what about the Magician?

[Q] My touchscreen is unresponsive

Hello guys the last week while i was using my phone scrolling in app drawer i realized that the touchscreen was not so responsive especially in the mid of the touchscreen.I tried to install another rom than gdxv020 i was using but the same , tried to draw something in paint but it seems there are 2 big lines in the mid that cannot be painted.I think its hardware problem.Does any of you had the same problem with me and can a suggest a solution for my problem?Did the touchscreen "died" and need to be replaced?Thank you , i am waiting for your replies..
PS: My digitizer was cypress and i was using Darkfrmr's fix for hard to pull up status bar so i dont think the problem is because something is wrong with ax8mt.ko.
i don't know whats the problem, but first i would repair the phone with SEUS, see if its helps, before i'd take the phone to the service

Take it to the Sony service center before you do anything else to your lovely phone
'cos it appears that it is a hardware problem with u...
Thank you both for your replies.I went on Friday to a local sony service center and they told me that the touchscreen had the problem and need to be changed , the bad is that the warranty expired and now i have to pay the whole amount. The cost is about at 60E for a genuine new digitizer including the cost for the installation.I think it doesnt worth so much money because the whole phone costs that much so i will decide in the week what i am going to do with the phone..Selling it for parts to buy a new one or fix it.
Hope you'll get a cypress phone

Guys i have good news! I decided today to dissasemble it and give it a try to fix it.The only things i used was a hairdryer to heat the digitizer not more than 20 seconds and then i used a plastic tool and started pushing for a couple of minutes all the edges around(Check the photo bellow).VOILA!!.When i put the parts back together i was able to unlock the lockscreen finally plus i saved 60E ! If any of you guys facing a problem with the touchscreen and you had check that is not rom's or module's problem and your warranty expired give it a try..I am so excited that my X8 is back!

Thank you!
You started a (q) thread and we thank for it , but its nice, thanks.
Just be aware with the hair dryer!
My old k660i felt off of the washing machine, when it started washing and landed in a bath of water, it was working, but the screen wasn't showing anything, then i turned on hairdryer, used it like for 5 minutes from 0,5 metres distance, and the chips inside it, are overheated and died
So be aware
First thanks for me by: fotak-x and stamatis 16, thanks for it

Bro that looks bad
Don't worry flash back stock Rom and stock kernel and you can get it fixed in warranty after flashing stock kernel the Red thingy on Htc splash screen gets vanished ...Cause after Rooting warranty voids
from what i've heard mechanical damage isn't covered by the warranty as it is your fault.
i could be wrong so you should try it.
or you can go to a service to install a new screen. a new screen+digitizer costs about 19 euros (in my country) dont know how much the replacement itself costs

19 euros??!! that is cheap! i expected it to be something like 80 euros!
i don't need a brand new LCD because it is still fine i took my old desire c apart once and the LCD and digitizer weren't together! (it does suck i didn't keep that one :\)
I checked amazon, parts4cheap and other services they all sell if for a price of 12.49$ i didn't know the touch screen was this cheap!
Edit: the touch screen still fully works so I can keep using my phone till I decide to buy a new screen

just search on google and select belgium as a country
also try phone service posts as they could have the parts you need or they can order them

Warranty - Replace or Repair

Hi guys,
I bought my phone about 2 weeks ago. In the first week I noticed a problem in my phone; there's a missing area at the bottom of my LCD (below soft keys). The area shows some noises (something like the reflections of the pages I open with my phone, e.g. Settings menu, Walkman app, anywhere in my phone). Actually this problem is so annoying and I'm gonna send the phone back to the Sony (The phone has warranty). Here's my question; does Sony replace the phone? Or it just repairs it?!
Thanks in advance

Try one of the following:
1. Do a factory reset from the phone (Setting - Backup & reset)
2. Use the Sony flash tool and try a manual flash of your ROM
If the above does not work then you will have to take it the Service Guys. They will check the piece and then replace it if required. I had my phone replaced as I had camera issues in less than 2 weeks of my ownership post which I have not had any issues.

I tried reinstalling firmware via PC Companion and it didn't help... I was afraid flashing the phone might void the warranty... Does it?

A few more things to mention:
* When I take a screenshot, everything is fine and the area below the soft keys isn't missing!
* At the first days, the missing area was appeared when phone was heaten a bit... But now (for about a week) the area is permanently missing!
It's much like hardware problem, I guess.

It's look like a line of dead pixels or LCD but in this case, if that is a Hardware problem you should see in that part of the screen problems in any conditions. Can you do a test, reboot your phone and look at the bottom of the screen where the line is, do you see something wrong?
If the LCD is dead but you take a screenshot logically the line is missing because is not recognize as the LCD is the problem.
I think you should send it to repair via Warranty, just to be sure.
BTW, you can also flash a Stock FTF from different region but for your model only, to check if it a system failure, using flashtool v.0.9.16 (it will not void your warranty).
My Z1 is broken after a major fall. It is outside the accident damage protection of six months but inside overall warranty. I get to understand that I will have to pay to get it replaced. Any idea on the price that I have to pay? If it makes sense I will get it replaced or else will buy a new one considering the price drop.

[HARDWARE MOD] Xperia Z3 Heatpipe swapped into Z

Hello , here i am again with questionable things that i did
BUT DONT TRY THIS AND BLAME ME LOL , Im just sharing what i did Unless you absolutely had nothing to loose and bored jusf like me
Years ago i aqquired A Z5 and upon diasembling it (to replace the screen ) i saw that they doubled the Heatpipe , it does really help with the heat . so that got me thinking , can i swap this pipe somehow into our little Z ? Just for the fun of it to see if it work or not
I began with making a rough sketch of how the pipe going to be fit
(At this point i didint realize that the cpu location is the same , so the pipe doesnt need to be inverted )
{

So i bought a broken Z3 and diasemble it , but . to my sadness , the pipe is actually soldered directly to the aluminium panel below
(Sorry for out of focus )
My original plan was to seperate the pipe from the frame and manipulate it at my own will (the copper pipe is extremely soft . u can bend it with your nails )
But since it is soldered directly to the aluminium , time to use some brute force
(The aluminium plate was easy to seperate from Z3 metal case since it is only held by glue and clasp )
Since there is actually aluminium under the pipe , i cant bend it sideward to make it smaller in footprint , so i had to change plan and start gutting my Z inner frame ,
And make alots of cut
(Picture to be uploaded )
After that i just put the pipe into possition and tape it there
At this point i faced a second problem , the thickness of that pipe , will basicly adds another 1mm to everything. Which became a huge problem . motherboard mounting . as you all know , or may not know , XP Z motherboard is held by 3 sets of screw , 2 on the usb side and one at micro sd Side , while it screws normally in the USB side , it started to flex almost heavily when i screw in the last screw on the microsd side (as the pipe now sits in the middle of the motherboard, so screwing both side is like pulling it down with force) to compensate that flex , i added some sponge (or whatever that is ) to give bit of leverage so it doesnt flex and bend as much , I also bend the wifi antenna pins outward to make it longer so it still touches the other pin (because of that added height ) ,
Here is the result
With that out of the way . now comes the final problem , that pipe runs diagonally , which will add thickness to the battery too , how im i suppose to fit in the back cover ?
I ran out to the nearest shop to buy one of these
The tape has a thickness of ~2 mm i believe , in order to clear the battery , i had to stack around 3 of those ontop of another , and then im able to stick the back cover without any problem
In the end , DOES IT WORK ? , I dont know , i havent test it yet , also i did this on pure boredom , if it works it works lol
Video to be uploaded
