Hello xda,
after the 23.0.1.A.5.77 update I noticed that the built in photo editor in Sony's Album app has changed for a less capable one, they added a lot of features (all useless) while removing the few good filters that the app had before and making it more clunky to use.
Is it possible to somehow flash the older version of the photo editor app onto my phone?

Greetings!
I picked up a Hero on i-Wireless to add to my collection of 6 Android phones. I did so because I liked the camera on the Eris (and other HTC phones) and the price was spectacular at $99.
Here's my problem - I like to take pictures with the phone and have it geotag. All my phones do a decent job of this, so I can upload the pics to Picasa and have them on the map (without fooling with GPX based tagging on standard camera photos).
I downloaded the latest CM7 right away and loaded it. I noticed that for whatever reason, it would tag the photos correctly in the camera app, display location in the maps app, but when exported, my other software on the PC doesn't see the location tags at all.
I went ahead and downgraded back to 2.1.1 and took some pictures, then uploaded to Picasa and the tags show up.
So - it would seem that a camera driver may be amiss on the CM7? My other photo apps I purchased wouldn't tag at all under CM7 but do under 2.1.1. Do others have this issue? Are the Froyo builds able to tag properly? For now, I just run 2.1 and understand that the battery life will not be stellar and my 2.2 apps (like HDR Camera) won't work on this ROM.
Hello, is it possible to change the default gallery app the camera app uses?
I remember before I could click the thumbnail while in the camera app and get taken to another app (e.g. QuickPic).
But ever since Jelly Bean, it automatically takes me to the stock Gallery app which I find is a bit more sluggish than QuickPic.
Thanks in advance!
Look maybe you install quick pic and make it as the default app for viewing pics. I'm not sure if it'd help but you can try :|
Hi,
The camera on the Xperia Z1 is fantastic, in low light its removes grain and pictures look quite nice!!!
In snapchat the front facing camera is ridiculously grainy!
The facebook Slingshot app (snapchat copy) it seems to be using the software of the sony camera?
Has anyone made a modification or an alternative app or fix to this? I remember there was the Holo version of snapchat someone made?
Thanks,
Marcel

I've personally never used Slingshot, but if it looks like it's using the Sony camera app, the Slingshot application asks Android for all the camera applications that are installed so you can take a photo with them.
Now, most camera applications don't just take photo's and give them to you, but they do some processing with the photo afterwards (Sony's superior auto does this for example) which can give you much less noise in photo's and such.
Since Snapchat uses it's own build-in camera application, it doesn't benefit from the processing the Sony camera application does when taking a photo, thus giving a different result; which in this case ends up in a more noisy picture.
A way to circumvent this is by taking your photo using the Sony camera application and then sharing this photo with Snapchat, which then allows you to send the picture without all the noise to said contacts. Also note that Snapchat does some heavy compression on photo's that it sends.

i remember someone made a holo version of snapchat, is it possible to make a client that uses the devices camera software to process?

No. Only the Sony camera can take advantage of Sony's post-processing.
Here's the tweaked Cinema Pro from Xperia 1 ii for Xperia 1. Everything seems to work but not seamless. App can record and function tap to focus and all new features but closes down as soon as record end. Recorded files can be opened on Album app and project can be viewed on the original Xperia 1 cinema pro app.
Note: I want to connect with some xda coders to help me tweak Pro Camera apk as well. It works but shuts down on shutter click. I suppose it has something to do with saving file which can't be done on both apps when initiated.

Yeah it's not so different. I think recording in different looks in single project is the only difference
I don't get it. Why is Sony not updating the current one?
Do I really need to upgrade the phone for an app?
I recently disabled the Google Photos app as I had no need for it and was bothered by its intrusion. However, when I used my Google Camera and then attempted to edit the shot, I was met with a message that said something to the effect that 'I could not edit my photos with the Google Photos app disabled.'
Is there some way around this without enabling Photos, or do I need to switch to a different camera app? And if the latter, would GCAM give me a comparable photo experience?
I believe you just need to install another photo app but it will not be integrated with the camera app (have to open the pics/vids with the other photo app separately). I've been using xgallery but find the ads a bit too annoying. Will see if I can get the LineageOS's gallery installed (don't know if it's possible.)
