Long story short I had to exchange my first one due to it creeking on the left side and a red ghosted arc in the middle. Now my second has bad power button. Anyone else have any issues? Kinda getting annoyed.

Mine creaks on the left hand side and so does my friend's. Seeing as it doesn't have any effect on functionality, we're perfectly fine with them. My friend's first one had a volume problem where it muted it self permanently every time the screen locked. They seem to have a lot of design issues.
Kinda dissapointed but for 250...... should I be picky? They told me if I had anymore problems I would have to send it in. That's garbage imo.
Mine is perfect. No creaks. I must be lucky.

Why the canadians gotta get all the good ones?!?!?!?!?!?
I've had 2 and both were creeky...
Other than that no issues...
Did I mention that my back cover seems to be lose or has a lil Play? I guess that is better than the creeking.
The creaking was driving me nuts, took the thing apart and wedged a small piece of paper between two plastic bits at the corners of the lanyard hole.

That danged 'feature' seems to be the cause. mine creaks on the bottom near it.
I have 2 nook colors and mine has a slight creak when I squeeze the top and put my ear against it but not really noticeable. Other than that all is great, I guess I am just lucky.

Forget that, Until my "30 day money back thing" is over id take it in everyday, maybe that B&N/BB/Walmart just cant stock shelves right.
Once thats over then youve got your 1-year warranty for sending it in.
And im not picky, mine creaks but Hardware problems like a button not working is unacceptable, for 250 I expect at least one year of use.

Its not very noticeable, but since I know its there it drives me nuts...
Not going to risk another exchange since it might be worse than this one.
No dead pixels here. I have creaking though. I wonder if it's happened due to the case I have and how it locks in?

I had creeking straight out of the box. Its not your case.
On my second. First had a faulty volume button. This one has the creaking, but I can live with that.
i haven't noticed any creaking with mine but i think my charger is bad causing repeated random keystrokes when i use it while it's plugged in

Same here. I had this same issue with my galaxy epic4g...using a defective usb cable...i can live with the wonky kb while bein charged...just curious as to what it might be.
Maybe I'm lucky, but I don't have any of the problems listed here. I received my NC as a Christmas gift. It was even wrapped by B&N too! The only "problem" I've noticed is some very slight light bleed at the top center.
My initial Nexus 4 has a small hole in the centre of the backlight through which light escapes when viewed from any sort of angle. It's quite distracting, so I've elected to send it back. I've only seen one other user with this defect.
Half the threads on this forum are about problems people are having, and each seems to have a respectable number of vocal sufferers. But people come here because they have these problems, and it's tough to determine how the average customer is making out.
I'm mostly curious because I have no idea what to expect of the replacement I receive. Glue blotches? Who knows.
I wonder what the actual % is. Poll up top for those interested.
I have the speaker problem but i can not hear it. My buddy's N4 has it has well. He said he thinks his is worst on his phone. Because i can not hear it i do not think there is a problem. Over all i have been very happy with the phone. I can't wait for Franco to get his so we can get some better kernels.
These results will always be obscured. People that don't have a reason to complain usually won't make a thread saying" hey got my phone today, works as expected"
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I'm the only person I've seen posting with my defect -- the camera LED doesn't work, no flash, no flashlight. I'm obviously getting a replacement, shipped today.
Mine has a yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen. Replacement was shipped out today
My Nexus 4 locks up in deep sleep (while charging usually). In order to restart the phone, I have to hit Power + Vol Down which shows me the charging animation, afterwhich I can hit power to start the phone. I've already wiped the phone and flashed the stock 4.2 image from Google, and uninstalled any applications known to be incompatible. Seems to be a hardware issue so I requested an RMA.
Mine acted odd but, sometimes when I have a notification, I can't wake the device's screen forcing me to do a power cycle.
To the guy above me, to reset the device all you need to hold is the power button...

Had a speck of dust stuck between the screen and the display. It was super annoying at first because there was a glue "halo" around it, which dried up and it ended up looking like a huge dead pixel.
Replacement arrived fine, but I have had a problem with both phones rebooting constantly when pushing them. It's starting to really piss me off.
Anyone else notice the vibration function is off sometimes. At time its feels great like it should, but other times it feels a little too strong, like it's a little loose.
Overall I'm really happy with the phone; everything is perfect.

When you come to a forum about hardware you will have a high rate of people who have faults, that is natural as people come to ask. You can only find out for yourself and luckily the consumer is protected by law for the first 30 days or whatever they have to decide they aren't happy with it.
The build quality does look quite shocking though.
Hope they don't pass all the replacement directly to LG like what they did on Galaxy Nexus after receiving too many replacement call.

I have a thin vertical blinking line to the of my screen it strechches the entire length of the screen.its noticible on any color background but white seems the worst as the line appears pink.I called Google today they should be sending a replacement this week.its ashamed other then the line the phone seems flawless but a line down the entire screen isn't something I can overlook

Hi Guys,
I was cleaning my phone the other day when I noticed an ackward gap between the screen and phone. I inspected it and I've just noticed the screen is coming off the phone. I had a look around and it's going from the bottom to the top. Has anyone had this problem?
BTW phone is has been in a pouch for 1.5 years and I can confirm has never been dropped. Given the phone is out of warranty what are the chances Motorola will repair this for free???

I saw this problem on other smartphones, you should check your battery, because on iPhones when it happens when the battery push and finally detach the LCD from the frame

Right, it seems to be that issue.
Some early N6 have had battery troubles. Their batteries inflated because of warm which usually makes the back cover taking off.
You seem to have the same problem but pushing the front of the device instead. (back may be well glued)
Don't know if Motorola will take it back. Furthermore, they have been selled to Lenovo since that, so it may be difficult. In Europe, when warranty is over (2 years), you won't get anything from them.
Just stick it back to its position, it's not a big deal. Maybe you'll have to buy some special tape for this.
http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Rahmen-Kleber-Klebepad-Klebefolie-Adhesive-Sticker-Frame-Motorola-Google-Nexus-6-/272109920217?hash=item3f5b03dfd9:g:VH8AAOSwCypWnlXM Something like that. Don't know if it is a special tape or a basic one..
So I've had the Note 9 128GB UK version for 12 days. Today I took it out of my pocket and noticed a hairline crack running horizontally across the screen originating from the volume key. To my knowledge I have not dropped the phone or knocked it against anything, the phone has been in a case with a screen protector since day 1.
I took it into a Samsung store (Leeds, UK) today and unsurprisingly they just thought I had dropped it and were taking them for a ride. I have the number of the UK call centre to try next.
Has anyone else experienced this problem so far? Samsung claims that it isn't a known issue, but the phones only been out for 2 weeks so that's not surprising.
Has anyone had success arguing that a screen crack is a device fault and got it replaced under warranty in the UK?
So what exactly are you trying to tell us, that this happened all by itself ? It sure doesn't look like that.
Good luck in claiming it's a hardware defect.
And this statement of yours "Has anyone had success arguing that a screen crack is a device fault and got it replaced under warranty in the UK?" makes me think that you broke it and now you want to see how "stupid" the people at the centers are.
Just my opinion.

I'm not sure about the UK, but In the USA, they would claim 100% as impact damage at the side of the screen where the crack appears to start and what looks like a hole, and would deny any warranty replacement. There's a chance when your phone was in your pocket, if the screen was pointing out, that you lightly bummed against something very hard and sharp that was just enough to crack the screen. Even if it didn't happen that way, is be supprised if they replaced it for free.
I wish you the best of luck, let is know how it turns out

I don't know what the definition of a hairline crack is in the UK but here in the states that ain't no "HAIRLINE" crack my friend.... good luck
Just to clarify, the picture was taken about an hour after the crack appeared. Its slowly getting worse and what looks like the point of impact (just above the curved edge of the screen) is actually where the glass has fractured away from the screen. The original crack originated directly under the volume key and spread across the screen.
I'm not trying to scam anyone, I legitimately believe that this device has a screen fault. I'm just interested to see if anyone has experienced the same thing.
Right now it's just my word against Samsung, so i can guess who's going to end up paying for a new screen.
I hope u had phone insurance

Seems like there was a similar problem with the Note 8 https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...d-id/GalaxyNotePhones/thread-id/14457/page/56
zero chance of warranty replacement...open your piggy bank, you are paying out of pocket for that one..
The only way I can see that happening is with the phone in your front or back pocket with the screen facing outwards and you leaned against an edge, either way with that amount of broken glass there's no way you can argue it wasn't accidental damage.
Looks like it was dropped to me. Like it fell and hit the edge of a table. No way that was done while in your pocket and you leaned into something. This was damaged by impact. They will shine a flashlight on the area, which will show the type of impact that broke the glass.
Unfortunatelly, I have the same issue with Note9. I bought it 2 weeks ago and was happy of the device. Yesterday I took it out of my pocket and saw a few hairline cracks. One is running horizontally across the screen, originating from the place between down volume key and Bixby button, and a few more originating from the same place and go upper and lower left side. I'm 100% sure the phone has never been dropped or damaged in any way.
Funny thing that the screen was periodically abnormally hot during the day it cracked, I even noticed that I never had a screen this hot on my note8. I think it could be an issue with heat distribution from the inside.
So as you could understand I really disappointed having this problem for this money. I honestly believe there is not my fault of this issue

It didn't
the only thing I noticed that after I felt the screen is hotter than usual I turned off all apps and went to the power saving mode, however, it didn't fix the problem. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't extremely hot but hotter than usual. I don't say it's 100% correlated, maybe it's just coincidence
These screens are very fragile. That is from an impact, no matter how small.

So OP creates this thread and the only user to claim something similar just joined Sept 9th?
Hello All,
I recently bought a brand new Note 9 from John Lewis in the UK and have had it for about 2 weeks now. It's been a great phone with one major issue: whenever I clean the screen with a microfibre cloth using a little bit of downward pressure on the screen I can hear a clear and loud popping/cracking sound. This happens when the phone is both powered on or off, the temperature of the phone makes no difference either and it happens around most of the screen surface, it doesn't seem to matter. Also when I fog the screen with my breathe I can see marks/patterns even if the screen is completely clean. I am not using a screen protector or a case. I am storing it in a pouch.
I did a little digging around online and a few others have had a similar issue too, their issues seems to be when they touch the screen (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/experience-popping-noise-pressing-note-t3881671). The consensus seems to be that there might be an issue with the glue/adhesive with the glue possibly being weak or loose.
I contacted John Lewis for a replacement and the second Note 9 has the exact same issue. At least one person who got a replacement got a new unit where the popping was worse and just refunded it.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
How common is this problem?
I have a owned quite a few phones (no Samsung phones btw) and this is the first time I have encountered this before. I have tried to replicate this on friends and family members phones, who all by chance happen to not own any Samsung phones either, no popping/cracking sound again.
This might be a lot to ask, but if anyone is willing to, can you replicate what I did to see if your unit makes this same popping/cracking sound by using a microfibre cloth and rubbing it over the screen with a little downward pressure? I know it's not something a lot of people naturally do, but it would be interesting to see how common this might be.
Thanks
Yea, I've got the same issue here too. Dint bother to take it to Samsung coz I cant replicate it all the time and the last time I did the the same with a Sony phone for a similar issue, they kept my device with them for 2 days and said its alright.

Can't say for certain. Could be, but I don't know enough about that to confirm that. Best I can say is that if sounds like a cracking or popping sound when I rub over the screen with the cloth with a little bit of downward force.

check if it was refurbished. maybe the screen got repaired ?(not adequately)
anyways just take it back
I had the same problem when I sent my T-Mobile branded Note 9 to the Samsung repair center in Texas. They replaced the camera module because it was having trouble focusing after the software update to Pie. When it came back it had new issues and was returned. After my phone was gone for several weeks I made numerous phone calls to support requesting a replacement since this was the 2nd time I had returned the phone. One day I get an S-pen and an SD tray in the mail... no reason why, no explanation, nothing. More calls to Samsung wanting to know where my phone was or when a replacement or a refund was coming. Two days later a phone finally shows up out of the blue. It has a different IMEI so I guess it's a new phone. Everything works fine but it makes a crinkling noise when you clean the screen.. All tolled, Samsung held my phone hostage for over a month, the returned calls promised from supervisors never materialized, my phone disappeared into oblivion for weeks and I have an extra S-pen , an extra SD card tray and a Note with a crinkling screen. Worst customer support experience ever.
I've had a Note 9 since December that did this occasionally, but doesn't seem to do it any more. Hasn't affected it otherwise.
Probably Vietnamese or Chinese builds.
