Hi,
I know the phones are the same size, but is the Z3 compact still just as easy to use one-handed as the Z1 compact was?
Thanks

Yes
I had mine for a week and I'm coming from an iPhone 4, I can tell that even if the screen is a little bit bigger, it "hands" itself pretty well with only one hand, not too large, not too thin, just perfect

I've been offered one for my Z1, I looked at a few reviews, they look quite good and more/less the same spec, has anyone got one....a mini that is
What is "Mini"?
Xperia....compact then
It's smaller.
Very funny

Yeah but that's like the only difference. Seriously. That, and that the Compact has a bit better screen and a lower capacity battery but less draining of a screen, so battery times would be about equal.
Smaller, more obviously compact, 720p vs 1080p on regular, doesn't make a difference anyways also the compact is IPS I think vs TFT on regular z1
Better viewing angles/screen size and resolution

The Compact also has a plastic back instead of glass. Processor/camera/RAM/etc are all the same. Only differences are size, battery, external hardware, and screen.
Thanks.....I just find the z1 to big, will see if I can swap for one somewhere, or sell mine and try and get one

Are you certain the back is plastic?

Yup. Sony updated the official"white paper" over the weekend to reflect that. It was on android central or Xperia Blog.

First of all I know that most of you will prefer the Z1,,, since this is a Z1 forum. But I just would like some opinions n whether it's a good decision replacing the G2 with a Z1. I did search most of it, but still unclear due to a very mixed reaction.
The number one reason I am thinking about this is because I know devs will port the Z2 launcher and other goodies to the Z1 soon, and I love the
look of the Z2 interface. ( I would not be able to afford to buy one though)
I prefer the build quality of the Z1, but will probably miss the back keys of G2.
Is the camera all that great? Or even better does someone know if it's better than the G2? I heard very mixed reaction.
My wife got her G2 last month when I got my Z1s, they're completely different phones. The G2 has more customizations options for sure.
As far as camera performance I prefer the Z1. Sometimes her camera produces better pics but more often than not mine wins out. Also, the Z1 takes the pictures faster, seems to take forever from the time we hit the button until it takes the pic on the G2. The Z1 takes them super fast and has way more options. I love this camera.

The G2 is a great phone so I would stick with it. It's got a bigger and better screen than the Z1, too. I only went for the Z1 over the G2 because I need lots of storage (no SDcard on the LG) and I prefer a premium finish to glossy plastic. if those things are important to you, go for the switch.

I love my z1 but was looking at the htc one and g2 when I was choosing to buy my phone. Any of those are good solid phones..but I wouldn't replace one over the other if I had any of them. I'd just wait for the next generation..

I decided to make the jump and I have got to say the build quality is superior. As for Camera. It's what I expected, awful in low light, amazing in good light. speed is about the same and prefer Sony's skin.
I actually prefer the G2, I quite like the bigger screen, and the smaller bezels are really nice. It also seems to be a better point and shoot when I compare my dad's G2 and my Z1, and images turn out a lot less grainy. The only things I prefer on the Z1 is the premium feel and the microSD card slot, as well as glass screen protector, as the G2 is really lacking in good glass screen protectors. I also prefer the Xperia UI over LG's Touchwiz copy UI, however, I'd just flash an AOSP based ROM over it anyways, like I would if my Z1 had an unlocked bootloader.

I think pictures in good light look much better on the Z1, but low light G2 easily wins. And the Z1 takes pictures faster.
I am pretty confused how G2 Devs have managed to increase image quality with a MOD yet their are no mods for the Z1 that do.
Besides Iphone, are there any current or upcoming alternatives to the Z3 compact that you are personally considering?
Z4 in Feb or March

I wonder if they'll skip the compact again.
I guess they will skip the Z4C as well as I personally don't actually see the need for it. Moving from the Z1C to the Z3C was a big improvement. Now, except design and SW features (which, latter, apparently will come down to the Z2 later on as well) the Z3 is not really that much different from the Z2. So, a technology update is only due for the Z3 to move on to Z4, but not for the Z3C. My take.
Before I bought Z3C, I was considering going for Galaxy Alpha.
There really isn't any alternatives, to be honest. Nothing matches up, feature wise.
I have not decided between Alpha and,Z3 C.
Alpha is more rugged , with better quality control.
Z3 C has better Camera , not a huge difference.
Z3 C better battery, but Alpha will soon have 2500 mah.
Speakers are better on SOME Z3s, Alpha has louder speaker than many Z3Cs.
Alpha has complicated Touchwiz but will have fewer software bugs on emails, sudden death, charger, Uycracked glass, etc etc.
Only two powerful Compact Androids are Alpha and Z3C.

I think there will be a Z4 Compact and Z4 and Tablet.
I hope there is a Z4 C , read they will remain waterproof
but with no flaps, and more powerful Audio/Speakers,
new Sensor and either 805 or 810 SOC.
Hopefully SONY will use shatterproof flexible glass on Back (to avoid shatter on a rigid back)..and GG4 on Screen- thick metal sides, .
Forget "ultrathin and ultalighweight" make these RUGGED.
hello friends, you believe that the difference between the Z3 and Z5 + is very large, sony forgotten Z3+ by giving priority to the Z5?? today which would you buy?
i am so disappointed with support from sony to z3+ even i have problems with pc companion who no recognizes my device.
what do you think ?
The difference between the Z3+ and Z5 is large I think. The Z5 has dual heat pipes instead of one and a fingerprint scanner. The dual heat pipes are there to handle the Snapdragon 810's heat and the fingerprint scanner is more of luxury at the moment.
Today, I would buy a Z5 compact. I own a Z3+ and I love the way the phone looks and is designed but would like something smaller.
I have both. I like z4 because it glass back and more delicate bezels. It looks like SONY. Z5 is little disapoint for me. With this ugly bezels and "frozen" back glass it loose typical SONY shine. And z4 beats z5 on Antutu. YES it is only synthetic test but more power is more power. And with the last update z4 overheating is reduced.Z5 have a little better camera. And finally I not use this stupid fingerprint sensors. So I prefer Z4.

I don't think it's a big enough upgrade, honestly.
Hi
I have purchased the XP on preorder due to receive mid July here in UK.
I'm a avid z3 and z5 compact user.
My main concern are the ergonomics of the XP.
Anyone that's come form Z3/5 Compact provide there thoughts on the ergonomics in hand compared to z5 compact.
Any thoughts much appreciated.
Ultimately are you happy with the XP - form and ergonomics wise?
Secondly if you've come from z5 compact or any of the z5 series you'll know how average the camera performed. Could you state your opinion on how the XP camera performance compares?
Thanks

I had a z3c and a z5c before this phone. The big difference for me is that those phones were so fragile and slippery due to the glass backside that I needed a case for them, which made the width of the phone a little similar to XP. It's still taller and I prefered the smaller z5c form factor, but since I'm not using a case with the XP because it has the aluminum back it's been fine. It's not slippery so I've had no issues adjusting to it. Very happy so far.
The camera is light years better than the z5c. It's fast and takes FANTASTIC pics. It's incredible and it was unexpected. I'm getting my wife the the X since it has the same camera and she only wants to use my phone now to take photos, it blows away her z3c.
