Hello,
my wife and I recently bought two identical Nexus 5.
She is running Stock Android Lollipop 5.0.1.
I am running CyanogenMod 11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-hammerhead with ElementalX Kernel N5-1-13-cm.
The main reason why I downgraded to Android 4.4.4 is because I want to use Xposed framework.
Well I run some benchmark tests today with Antutu (v.5.5) and Benchmark&Tuning Free (latest from store) apps and I got very inconsistent results:
Nexus 5 Stock Lollipop:
Antutu score: 41484
B&T score: 43324 (CPU:24713 Memory:16131 I/O:2480)
Nexus 5 CyanogenMod M11 + ElementalX
Antutu score: 40573
B&T score: 23895 (CPU:1221 Memory:8242 I/O:3442)
Now,
Antutu says Nexus 5 with Stock Lollipop has slightly better performances, and I can agree on that based on various benchmarks I have seen around (the magnitude is also about the same)
B&T says my CyanogenMod Nexus 5 is basically a total crap compared to Stock Lollipop.
Who is telling the truth? Is B&T broken on CM phone and why?
From an user experience I can say that Stock Lollipop is slightly more fluid but this does not justify the difference in score I get from B&T
Any comments would be appreciated!!
Thanks
First of all, there is already a benchmark thread so a new thread was not necessary.
Regarding your question:
- The setup on the two devices are not the same. Different apps running in the background, different kernels, different governor and other kernel settings, different devices (no two devices are made the same), and CyanogenMod has Dalvik/Bionic optimizations baked into the ROM
- There are many factors which you cannot completely control; temperature (thermal throttling), clock speed variation, different RAM usage, etc
- Lollipop uses ART (Android Runtime) and KK uses Dalvik VM
- Higher benchmark scores do not necessarily equal "fluidity"
It was never a fair comparison in the first place.

Guys,
Looking for some feedback on stock ROM and Kernel 3G or Wifi Only Dell Streak 7 benchmark scores. I normally think benchmarks are pretty useless, but curious to verify a few things vs a custom kernel to ensure there's no performance losses vs the stock kernel. If there's no problems found, in a few days there will be a custom kernel with CIFS, TUN, etc available thanks to Mashi. Anyone interested in that, please help out with some benchmarks here. The kernel will be in another thread, just some sanity checking of performance here.
So far Quadrant Standard is about where I saw folks in another thread.. 1950ish. i didn't see in there where it broke down the 3D score, as I'm curious a bit about that.
Run it after a fresh boot, don't run it multiple times please.. I hear that really clouds the results because it's just running out of cache, etc..
AnTuTu score for my device is 4750. I'll break down the scores here to compare line by line, if people will help out there it'll be appreciated. Same with Quandrant, if you could run this one time after a fresh boot.
CPU Int: 1095
CPU Float: 982
2D: 411
3D: 1172
Database IO: 365
SD Card: 6.9 write, 9.4 read
There is already a thread like this (For noobs who don't know).

For one, nice URL fail. Second, that's for a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DEVICE.
Get a clue.
I looked a bit onto numbers posted on One benchmark post and one thing bothers me, specifically with CF bench:
Native scores are not really that bigger - around 10% higher than let's say S3 (26728 vs 23966). However, java scores are significantly better and are even nearly on par with native scores (and around 3.5x higher than current devices - 20119 vs 6489 for S3).
If I understand it properly, native benchmark is done natively with compiled C application, while java benchmark is running in Dalvik.
Considering that java scores are really ones that got so improved, is there a chance that HTC One contains some huge Dalvik optimizations?

I think with Android 4.4 you should have even better performance... thanks to the ART engine.. maybe with following updates you'll score even higher
Ok guys, I wanted just to share this video, showing results on AnTutu benchmark on Google Nexus 4 running stock 4.3.
It's not mine, but sorry for bad camera and sound

My Optimus G would score over 17,500 on 4.1.2, unlocked, non-rooted. I've read somewhere that Google hasn't calibrated the N4 right. The screen, for example, is the same IPS+ (4.7 inches, 768 x 1280) that's used on the Optimus G, yet the Optimus G produces a better output owing to a better calibration. I've used the Optimus G, so I can say for certain it's got a better display than the N4. But, benchmarks don't mean much. The OS is very smooth, I've experienced no lag whatsoever, and that's all that matters to me.
How is this score special? my (stock, rooted) N4 scores the same on current 4.2.2
The Optimus G does indeed have a nicer screen yet a far more bloated UI (Ram would be running at 1gb with no apps running compared to about 500mb with tons running on my N4)
Owned both, like parts of both!

Still, it ran pretty smoothly, aside from the occasional, minor hiccup. But I do agree with you on RAM usage. I've got the same applications installed on my N4, and I've got a good 1.5 gigs free.

Exactly my best score on rooted stock 4.2.2 was over 17900.
I got 24351 (antutu) with Franco Kernel , Performance Governor , Overclocked to 1.7 Ghz , Increased the thermal throttle threshold to 90 C for the duration of the test , closed all apps.
With a decent GPU overclock , some more CPU overclock , couple of i/o tweaks from me , i'm pretty sure i would get something close to 27000-28000.
Which is actually more than Galaxy S4's scores.
It overheats though , you wouldn't wanna use it like that all the time.

hello everyone Today I have updated my aututu benchmark to V. 6.0 and as I saw many things have changed including 3D testing and it was so lagyy when I tested it on my 5.1.1 exynos note4 I will share with you some pics of the results my total score was 66868, make atest on yours devices and tell me about your scores.
sent from my N9I0C.
I received my note 4 today (qualcom) I test it and report my antutu here. (I don't know how many times I can keep my new device's on official States, without root, etc..)

I dunno if i am the only one who feels that gpu performance is lowered there was a bug in android 5.0.1 in exynos variant that made gpu run on half of its speed i thought it was fixed in android 5.1.1 but in real life performance i have noticed some lag in games like asphalt 8 a lag that wasn't found in kitkat u can notice this lag when game is showing map before the race in 3 2 1, i hope if note 4 owners share their experience with gpu performance in 5.1.1 update

Some games are not optimised for the exynos variants thats why there is a lag...
other than that it gives a fluent performance and sometimes performs better than snapdragon (experience with note 2, note 3, lg g pro and note 4)
i have 74889 score on Antutu 6
i put My Note 4 in the fridge while testing and i was overclock it to max 3000 GHZ cpu and 800 GPU

The Snapdragon 805 is a beast of a SoC

From what i can deduce from dn5 roms or other roms based on note 5 that note 5's rom is made in such a way that it cheats antutu to get a score of 80+ (if it is scoring less than this in ideal conditions), like it increases the scores of ux, its like we have an ssd builtin our note 4 which we cant use untill we r on note 5 rom, but in reality its not ssd. i m not saying that xda or independent developers have any kind of hand in this but samsung might do this kind of thing and they have done something like this in the past.
This is a theory.
No offence to anyone.

Lets make it clear i dont and i never trusted antutu i but Wat is weird is that exynos score was much higher than snapdragon in kitkat then in android 5.0.1 exynos had a gpu bug that made it's acore lower than snapdragon, now in android 5.1.1 this bug is supposed to be fixed so why snapdragon is scoring more than exynos by more than 3k

Antutu is just bull**** lol just delete it. Exynos 7420 isnt that powerfull either. Stick with pcmark, geekbench and gfxbench if you want to check benchmarks.
Was surprised of the antutu score of MIUI. And more surprised that custom roms ans kernels scores less...
MIUI : 299000
Custom ROM and differents kernels : 230000 - 275000
Mostly CPU scrores are under
Now using Havoc and sphinx kernel results: 265000 (not bad by the way...)
Any explanation?
The explanation for this is that MIUI is highly rescrictive and heavily blocks background apps in order to provide better battery life and performance, thus the benchmark scores will increase dramatically. Others are Android, like Samsung or Pixel devices without these restrictions. If you notice, whenever you send a message to a MIUI user on WhatsApp, the receiver will not be able to get the message just in time like any other Android variations' users.
I thought it was the opposite...
At the end I prefer custom ROM experience...
I can't accept to have advertising into the ROM itself...
