So google silently pushed out a update without putting it in their blog first (strange), but I thought id make a thread for people to post noticeable changes and such. So far from my searching, ive found:
Better TV output detection (probably to fix the black screen bug people have reported)
Updated netflix & eureka_shell binary
Still does not fully use V2 API, so V1 apps still work
I am guessing this was just a patch fix build. Let me know what you guys notice.
doesn't matter as device still refuses to join network.
edit: odd. ran CCast app on pc. booted up straight away. what ever works i guess.
It now supports audio when casting entire screen. Not very high quality.
I find full screen casting better than tab casting. Text are sharper and focused compared to tab casting. Watched a 720p movie on full screen... No sync issues. Casting full screen notification hides behind video player, when player uses full screen mode.

Hi. I have stock android build NB4. So, previously I have had no problem with any apps what so ever. Then yesterday 3/18/14 I receive a youtube update(phone is set to auto update), after this update youtube launches and crashes during the initial loading screen. I have tried uninstalling updates which remedies this problem, but I am left with a buggy youtube app. I tried reinstalling the update, rebooting my phone, etc. and nothing seems to work except using the original youtube build which is very buggy. Is anyone else having this problem? How do I fix this?
I had the same problem. I was using YouTube ad away. When I disabled it it fixed the crashes. So if you use adaway Or YouTube adaway disable them and see if that works.

Youtube Adaway had to be updated. You can update it in the Xposed Module.
In MIcromax Canvas Turbo Software version 4 (S9311_MP_IN_MMX_19_flasher_user) Streaming apps Like "Puthiyathalaimurai" Puthu yugam" "Thanthi TV" are getting Force Close, Unable to open:crying:. But i have tryed with "Note3_v3_Ported_by_nrupesh" "Lenovo_Vibe_by_Nrupesh" No Issue's... Same issue found in "TweakedV4Stock_A250_signed_by_CMahendra" also... Guy's help me to solve this issue in V4... Thanks
Anyone experiencing YouTube issues with the 6.0.1 update? When I scroll while watching a video the video lags. I googled some solutions and turned on disable hw overlay in the dev settings and that helped.
But now the video freezes while watching it in landscape. So I'm not really sure what to do.
Tried uninstalling the app and clearing data, cache, reinstalling etc. Any ideas?
Bump
Youtube for me is ok , i am un 6.0.1
I get lag while scrolling too
I have no issue with youtube. I use it daily and never see a bit of lag. Mind you I use an aosp based rom that is 6.0.1.
Damn. I might have to do a full wipe.
I enabled 'disable hw overlay' and all is ok, both portrait and landscape mode.

This solution for me worked for Youtube and Twitch, but totally broke Netflix (no image on videos, just sound) and I had to reverse the change to be able to watch on it again.

I have the same issue and its making me crazy! I'm going to try downgrading to a different version of youtube to see if it continues. If that doesn't work then I'm gonna format the phone completely

Probably won't work, because even twitch has the same issue, so this seems more general in stock 6.0.1 ROM.
If your clean install work please post here.

Now it works if you enable disable HW overlay in the developer setting. I heard about this fix somewhere.

Yes, I said in a previous post. This fixes the YouTube problem (and Twitch as I saw with the same issue), but it breaks other video apps. After switching this option in developer settings I couldn't see videos in Netflix anymore (you can hear it, but no image).

Lol now I remember where I saw it. Well I don't use Netflix so I'm good for now. Hope an update fix the issue
I'll do a clean install later on next week. Upgrading computer currently. But hw overlay does fix the YouTube problem for now at least. I have to pause and press play on the video to get it to not freeze so that's still annoying
Any updates from anyone? Just upgraded to the newest update and the problem persists. Hw overlay still fixes the problem however my other video apps like Netflix and Google play movies just give a black screen until I disable it.
(Was a clean install)

Works for me! Still some laggy scrolling in other apps - but YouTube now works perfectly.
Running CM13 latest nightly.
I have rooted my G5 plus, added xposed installer and the YouTube background playback mod but the YouTube app started crashing soo I deactivated the playback mod and uninstalled it but the app still keeps crashing. The app crashes as soon as I open it and reinstalling keeps it stable for few days and then it's back to crashing. Any solutions? I would love to keep the background playback mod too if it's possible (YouTube red isn't available here soo I guess ethically not a problem )

Just install Youtube Vanced if you want pip and background playback.

I agree with previous post, but if you don't know: YouTube Vanced is a Magisk add-on module so you need to be rooted with Magisk to use it (not SuperSU). Go to Downloads in the Magisk menu and scroll all the way down to find it, there are two versions - regular/white themed and black themed. I think the xposed version mod may be outdated so can be detected as "cheating" and messed up by playstore services/google from working correctly which may explain the crashing. The Magisk version is frequently updated to get around that and latest I'm using now is dated June 23 2018.
