Want to sell my 64 gb MB nexus 6 w/moto care... - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Curious if there would be any buyers out there. Moto Care is transferable, so I would be willing to just break even on moto care and the price for the device. It added up to $860 dollars. The phone is in brand new shape. Its just to big for me. I'd throw in all the cases I have, 3 I think, have a tempered glass screen that I would include. Talked to Supervisor at Moto named Tracy, she said she could transfer moto care stuff over before I ship it. I would just need the person's phone number and contact info. You only have a $39 dollar deductible to get it replaced if something screws up with it. Up to 3 replacements. I'm going to order a 64gb moto x as soon as I sell it. My cell is 918 908-0353. I guess I would do pay pal payment. I have never sold anything online like this before, so even if there are people out there not interested that would like to give me some advice, I'll sure take it. Figure I could sell it on ebay too, but not sure how the transfer of the moto care would work.
Thanks,
Jason Stump

[Q] Gumtree Scammers [UK]

So I tend to list my old phones on Gumtree, due to eBay's crazy fees. With eBay and Paypal, you sell a phone for £400 and give them £40 of it! Kinda crazy really.
Anyway, everytime I list an item on Gumtree (even through I state I wont ship internationally) I get e-mails people telling me they will pay me X+£100 via Paypal.
Of course I always either ignore or reply telling them I wont ship outside of the UK at which point they don't reply.
What I'm curious about is, how do they work the scam? Paypal is generally quite safe isn't it? Do they claim after two week's they haven't received the item? Does the money just never get to Paypal and they try and talk you in to sending it before it's there?
I'm half tempted to ask one of them to pay the money, me with no intention of sending the phone anywhere, just to see what happens...
http://reviews.ebay.com/PAYPAL-BUYER-SCAM-EXTREMELY-IMPORTANT-INFORMATION_W0QQugidZ10000000000114286
Basically unless you have proof that you have sent, and that they have signed for an item, PayPal will refund the money.
a specific example
So from the example, even if you have proof that the package was delivered, Paypal are likely to give the money back?
I wonder what happens if I ask the scammers to transfer direct into my bank account?
That's made me a little nervous now. I've just sold my DHD on eBay, the guy has paid with Paypal right away.
What are the safest steps for me next? I simply post it via recorded delivery and submit the tracking number to eBay somewhere?

and on paypal too
Thinking about it, I should probably do it special delivery, because that is insured. So if he claims its damaged or something, I can go back to Royal Mail?
Now... the other thing, the guy is only 7 miles away, I'd prefer to drop it over to him. If I get him to sign a 'receipt' do you think Paypal would accept it? I guess I'm actually safer posting it now, he's paid for postage, so he could claim I made it up, where's my postage info...

I replied to a spam scam once, I gave him the crime stoppers number as my mobile number. Idiot didn't notice what is was, just asked for my personal number. At that point I ignored.

So long as you keep the receipt for postage, and make a note of the time and date, where you posted it etc, the Post Office will refund up to £30 (I think that's the amount anyway) for missing items, after they have investigated. Anything more expensive, and I would suggest you send it with insurance anyway.
Are you guys serious??????
just search "gumtree scams paypal moneysavingexpert" on google (sorry can't post links)
That's why I stopped using gumtree overall. It is nothing but a scam den! Now I use other safer sites like movethat.com or bonsoni.com
Not if you're careful. I've not been scammed once using Gumtree and I've made more money from each sale as I'm not giving eBay and Paypal 12% of my sale. You could say that in itself is the biggest scam...
I do still use eBay, cause we don't really have any other auction alternatives do we?
Yes if you are smart then you should be ok (although my smart cousin lost his deposit money for a flat) . But the problem is Internet is available to everyone, even to the granny who never used a comp before.
usually these kind of naive people are becoming a victim. Just search gumtree fraud or gumtree scam on google news search thousands on result come up! Apparently police stopped taking this crime reports as they are too many of them.
You are not giving that 12% to ebay and paypal but do remember that actually you are doing them a favour by using gumtree, which is own by ebay and paypal.
That's what happened when capitalism reach at its pick and consumers don't have much choice.
Once again I prefer to use other smaller and safer sites then any of the above named site.

eBid.net is an alternative to Ebay.
The alternative I used for Gumtree.com is OzAdz.com. I love their Personals section lol.

I don't think it's a viable alternative though. For example, there's 1 Nexus S for sale on eBid. If I'm looking for a phone, why would I go to eBid. If I'm selling, why would I start an auction on eBid, next to no-one see's it and my item sells at a crazy low price

One reason to use smaller websites like ebid is because less people will bid, so you may pick up a bargain.

That's exactly what I'm saying, thanks. Very bad for sellers, not a viable option.

Will Sprint HTC One work in Nigeria?

*NOTE: This can be deleted, because I was being a moron. All I had to do was log into my PayPal account and see the funds weren't there, or even pending, and I knew immediately someone was trying to scam me. Should have known sooner, though.
So, I "sold" my HTC One on Craigslist, and the person who bought it apparently wants me to ship it to Nigeria where her son is sttending school; it's for his birthday. She gave me 60 bucks more than I was asking via PayPal, which she stated was for shipping. Aside from not knowing whether the Sprint variant will even work over there (does anyone know?), I can't help but feel uneasy about this whole thing. I guess as long as the funds clear I'm safe, and am under no obligation to (unlike with eBay), to right any wrongs she might point out later down the line. Should I just take the money send the phone and run, or is there something I'm not seeing that could cause legitimate problems?
Oh man that's a big no no. Doing business with people on craigslist who want to pay you through PayPal and Western Union plus wanting you to send it to another country which always seems to be in Africa is almost always a scam. If you read the craiglist faq you might get more info on what they do.
Edit: Glad you caught it
Mwahaha, I remember having one of these for a listing on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Businessman in Nigeria for his son's birthday. Were it not for the bad English, they actually had a reasonably convincing-looking PayPal e-mail notification (which failed Google's trusted vendor mail check, sure, but it was good nevertheless).

Actually, the PayPal thing was my idea. It was my way to get a higher dollar amount for the phone, kind of like what some gas stations do with credit-based sales. In my case I asked $425 cash or $450 via PayPal. Maybe I should stick with cash and local sales, though.
And this scammer was the same deal, Rirere, except it was a woman sending to her son. I Googled the mailing address faux PayPal sent me and found other people who had also almost been ripped off.
It's a good idea to always deal in cash, locally, and meet at a sprint store. Unless you are selling on ebay, doing it this way will cover both seller and buyer.

Low priced AT&T Moto X at Dell.com?

Sorry if this is a repost. But I stumbled upon this deal @ dell.com and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of it:
16gb black or white Moto X AT&T OFF contract for $205.99.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...~16749937&nf=262407~0~16749937&s=bsd&~ck=anav
Now I don't know if this is a mistake or not, but I placed the order and it went through. It came out to be $222 shipped...am I missing out on something here?
I even contacted the customer support, and they confirmed it was a special they have with AT&T, but they were unable to tell me any other details, like how long the sale is going on for. The rep did tell me that my order would not ship out until the 15th-ish, while my confirmation email said it would arrive around 11/21/13.
I hope this is legit, as I've already ordered a 32 gb Nexus 5 from Google and will be expecting it soon. But I prefer the form factor of the Moto X, and for that price point, I'm either returning the Nexus, or selling it.

If you're referring to the Dell website, all I did was use my employer's name (I'm guessing you can use any company's name), but the billing and shipping were to my personal card and address. There were no company verification steps or anything like that. BTW, I checked out as a guest, and didn't even create a Dell account.

Nice find!!!! was able to order one and just received confirmation email!
Wow, I just ordered one too. I even picked next day shipping for $21.99 to expedite it.
Only problem was that even though I picked next day air it says delivery estimated on November 19th???
Edit: At this point I'd be happy if it even shows up to my work!
The Moto X they're selling has a different model number since it's made for a business. It's still a moto x obviously but I wonder what different security measures it has. Rooting it may be different since the software may be made more secure for business purposes. Just a wild theory but something to think about.
I ordered a white one and a black one. My wife wants one like mine and I figure I can maybe flip the other on the cheap and still come out with a good deal
Damn, maybe too good to be true! The part number seems to indicate new service on a quick Google search...is there anyway they can restrict a phone to new service/contract activation only?
So, I just gave this a shot and ordered a Black Moto X from Dell. I've just read too many reviews praising the phone and the pricepoint is too tempting to pass up.
I would like to use SmartTalk for this phone if possible. I really hope it works out.
I also really wanted a Droid MAXX for its' incredible battery life, but $206 for a Moto X, yeah, that will work. :good:

$91.45?
It seems odd that there are duplicate listings for the Black and White Moto Xs on Dell. The only difference is the model number, apparently. Something seems wrong. That being said, Dell is pretty good as far as returns go, and I feel like you'd be stupid not to try for a $200 phone here. I'm expecting either a cancellation email or just some weird, $200 accessory to show up at my doorstep in 10 days.
For $200 I bit the bullet and willing to put up with lack of updates and such... this being ATT phone...

Yea, I'm thinking the same thing. On my confirmation email Dell said that they are not responsible for pricing errors, so a cancellation email is very possible especially if large volume of orders are placed. They've already charged my card, and the worst thing that can happen is they refund the $. Besides for $200, why not?
Maybe its supposed to be the Moto G.

[Q] Reselling a Nexus 6.

So i'm thinking about selling my nexus 6 on a facebook community buy/sell.
I usually give my devices to my family, but its not needed this time so i'm after some opinions on how much i should be asking for.
The phone is 3-4 months old, i lost the reciept recently but its around somewhere... 32GB, bought outright, so unlocked from any network, in perfect working condition. etc, there's just like maybe, 5 to 6 tiny little dints in the screen from keys in pocket :/. You literally cannot feel them, nor see them when the screen is on and takes certain angles to see them when screen is off (thats the only thing wrong with the phone, which i plan on telling on my post). I paid $876 AUD, do you think i could ask for $400-$500?
Opinions? If you were going to resell, what circumstances would you lower the price for & if you were i, how much would you ask for?
amazon is selling the n6 brand new at 399 for the 32gb version, so your $400-500 would be considered a joke, especially a device with a little bit of damage.

But Amazon is still selling it for much cheaper brand new. Most prospective buyers will look on Amazon first to see what prices are for both new and used.
What local retailers sell them for brand new means nothing when it can easily be attained somewhere else for a cheaper price.
I normally give people hell on those Facebook groups for asking entirely too much for a phone or tablet. Especially if it is used with even the slightest damage.
For instance, a woman was trying to sell a Droid Maxx for almost $400 USD claiming it was new and never pulled from the box, but her pictures clearly showed otherwise because of the damage on the phone and the fact that it didn't have any of the factory protective film on it anymore. The device in mint condition used only goes for about $150.
Basically, it's better to be fair instead of thinking you can charge top dollar for it. Much less troubles in the long run.
Good luck.

I agree with checking eBay or local buy/sell/trade sites for prices to get a feel for how much it will cost.
Note this, however: Amazon Australia does not sell the Nexus 6 that I can find. It is true that there was a Prime Day deal today in the states for it (pretty sure it's over now), but Prime Day is only for the US site, not for the international versions.
Plus $500 AUD is $368 ish USD.
Mate. Put it on Gumtree. You could likely get around 400 to 450 bucks for it if it is indeed in the condition you say.

return, keep, or cancel?

When you accept shipment you have 14 days to decide if you love the device, or make a return. Will there be restocking fees? Looking at Samsung's FAQ it appears the shipping back would be free...
Some of us feel neglected by Samsung and their "customer service"... question is, will you vote with your wallet or accept the failed shipping dates/service?
I received my phone and am testing it now . If I don't ABSOLUTELY love the One Thousand Dollar phone, I will send it back.
Is anyone canceling their order with no intent to purchase from another source? Sammy didn't keep their word will you refuse to purchase?

haha, okay. I'll explain... I was speaking as an August order, many of us feel we got skipped or overlooked, because orders made after us were handled before ours.
Here is a great example, my device finally showed up today, and there was no sdcard in the box. Whenever the sdcard does ship I'll probably not get a 256 like the early shipments (that my phone should of been amoung). It could take two weeks to get my card while others who ordered after me already have the complete package, and a 256 card instead of a 128! This matters to me because I don't have a spare sdcard laying around and will actually use the one provided for the phone
Drama.. Can't see how your "answer" can justify what you said about them. Still have not received mine.. and.. I'm fine. They told me when it expected to ship. And...you can only speak for you...
Well I did participate in a now 160+ page thread and many others seemed upset. Anyway, what I know is that when I ordered they gave me a date, and failed to meet it. Customers are usually held responsible it would be nice if the manufacture was to.
When did you place your order? unlocked or carrier?
