Way to "block" Verizon updates? - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Was wondering if there was a way to block all Verizon updates without root. I keep getting notifications to install the latest update (the one that gives Advanced Calling 1.0) but I don't want to install it in case it causes issues. Is there a way to remove/block this update feature without root? Thanks

Getting prompted for the latest update, how to keep root and tether with update?

I am using a method to tether that uses the built in method without Verizon pinging me for the tethering package. Been so long ago I did this on a friends device, I don't really remember the exact method besides downloading an app and changing a line of code somewhere in the device.
They are getting prompted for the latest update and want to either update and keep root/tether or disable the update message altogether. Either one works for them.
Any help would be appreciated, I don't keep up with this phone.

Lollipop root and a few other questions.

Okay, so I am going to root the XT1092 I have but I heard that I will no longer receive the OTA updates after doing so.
Another thing, the only reason I want to root is to enable ad blocking because it's not my phone. But if that would disable the OTA updates then I don't want to.
So is there a way to enable ad blocking without root? Perhaps by pushing in a different hosts file without root, if that is possible? (No don't want my traffic to go through AdBlock Plus's proxy server. That will just slow things down.)
Bump. Just a few simple questions.
None of those things are possible without root and no OTAs either with root or even with root uninstalled. The only way to return for OTAs is to flash the stock images.

How can I stop Pie Update notices?

I have three moto x4's that can't be rooted. I need to record telephone conversations for my work so I have to keep them on Android 8. I keep getting notices almost twice a day to upgrade to Android 9, and while I can choose "later" it is getting annoying and starting to interfere with my use of the phones.
I tried turning off notices for google play but that did not stop the notices.
Does anyone know of a way to prevent the notices from appearing?
I've since switched to a custom ROM, but I disabled the Moto update service when I was running stock Oreo and that stopped the notifications for me. Now, I did this on a rooted x4 using Titanium Backup rather than from the Settings app, but it's worth a shot.

cannot root because bootloader cannot be unlocked. cannot disable moto update service because it is greyed out
Here is a question:
Are these X4 branded or unlocked/open market?
I successfully unlocked bootloader on mine even after updated to 9
You need Linux with adb instead of Windows
Mac may do it too
The phones have locked bootloaders because they were amazon version.
Is there an anti-virus program that would at least prevent the update from downloading or installing unless I specifically allow it?

How To Prevent Android 10?

It took me a long time but I have finally gotten things settled down and working adequately on my new 405QA with Android 9, root w/Magisk, etc. I read here <https://www.theandroidsoul.com/lg-v40-update/> and elsewhere there may be an Android 10 coming. While for some that may be great news, for me it isn't. I need to rest and recover from the migration from my old Samsung Note 3 with 4.4.2!
So the question is: how do I 100% avoid any new Android OS updates from being (a) downloaded and (b) installed? In developer options, I have turned OFF "automatic system updates". But I fear this is not enough.
On my old Samsung, rooted with SuperSu, this alone seemed to prevent OS updates. But somehow I wonder if using Magisk and all will make preventing updates a bit different. What is the best way to handle this?
Thanks!
So, what you have done already is enough. Also, for a number of carriers you only get OTA if you are with the original firmware so if you cross-flashed your phone to unlocked US kdz, it is unlikely you would get any OTA updates even if you didn't disable in developer options. Any further options, you'd need to be rooted (which you are), disable/freeze both 'Software Update' apps and 'Fota Update' app. Titanium Backup is the best to freeze these.

Thanks. Have not cross-flashed but I have used Magisk debloat to deal with fota and software updater. I feel better/safer now. Cheers

Question Prevent firmware updates on SM-G998U1 unrooted

What is the best way to prevent updates on SM-G998U1 unrooted? I like the Samsung Band Selector app which the next update will disable and want the future option to sell it with working knox. Currently the phone forces updates within a few days of automatically downloading them. The phone is not yet aware of this update and I wish to prevent it without rooting (however I have rooted many other phones over time and already have the phone set in developer mode). Thanks for your help.
The old code *#2263# still works so u can always access it that way
Or you can freeze the system update app
