So when I try to boot up my phone, on the top left corner it says
"boot certification verify
-----------------------------------
Secure booting error!
cause: boot certification verify
-----------------------------------"
And when I try to access download mode it says
"fastboot mode started
--reset--
--portchange--
fastboot: processing commands"
and the phone is not recognized by adb devices in command prompt.
This all happened when I went from CM12 to CloudyG3 and tried to restore back to CM12 using TWRP.
If you hold the power button down for 10 seconds does it shut down the phone?
If so can you use the power and volume down buttons to boot into twrp?

I've tried and it just comes up with a black screen.

I changed my splash screen using the herc.img method - The only downside I see to this is not being able to boot into recovery mode by pressing the volume down key and the power key at the same time - I can obviously boot into recovery mode via alternate methods - like if I am already powered up by using Quick Boot or if my phone is off, I can use adb reboot recovery and that works -
but I'm thinking more along the lines of if I need to get into recovery and I am not at home and can not get to a computer -
any other ways that work?
you can't get into the hboot screen?
You can access recovery by pressing POWER and holding the HOME button.
But if you can't access hboot/fastboot screen...that seems like a much bigger problem to me.
Should have nothing to do with the splash screen. I changed mine, and can access fast boot and recovery fine

Here's my dilemma. I flashed CM7 RC4 to my n1 last night, now it is stuck in a loop of the boot animation and will not proceed any further. I'd boot into the bootloader, but my power button's been dead for a month, ADB won't recognize my phone to reboot-bootloader. Am I boned?
Pull the battery, connect your phone to a charger then hold the trackball while re-inserting the battery. Make take a few attempts, but it should eventually boot into fastboot. You could also hold volume down instead of the trackball if you just want hboot...

Now i'm getting the battery indicator flashing green/orange. I can mess with it until I eventually get it charging solid. Is there any quick workaround for this?
Now I'm in fastboot. Is there a way to get into recovery without power button?
Is your bootloader unlocked?

yes. indeed it is. If it helps, I have the latest CWM installed.
Place a copy of your recovery image in your sdk tools folder, connect via fastboot and type:
fastboot boot name-of-recovery.img
(use the real name of your recovery image)

I knew that. I'm a tard. Thanks.

What steps should I take to force recovery mode if I have an EVO? I've tried holding volume up while power but it vibrates three times and does nothing. I'm stuck in the boot loader screen.
*-**EDIT
I was able to fix it doing a hard reset.
Turn the power off. If your HTC EVO 4G is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
Hold the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
Guys.. since i unlocked the bootloader im no longer able to restart in fastboot mode. I hold the vol- and power but nothing happens. It just show the warning unlocked boot logo and start the phone. I need to restart in recovery mode and restore my phone from a bkp...

When it vibrates as before - quickly release the power button only

I wonder is the OP referring to the changed sequence after the Jelly Bean update?
I have a different 'fastboot not working' problem - many of us have bricked phones saying 'service required, code corrupt'. Everyone with this brick seems to be saying they cannot get the device in fastboot.
Had the same problem, all I had typo do was wait for the screen to flicker and then I let go of both buttons. That'll take you straight to fast boot mode

Phone stuck bootlooping and volume down + power not working.....what can i do?
How long is it accessible before rebooting?
You might connect it to your computer, and ready a command window with the command:
adb reboot bootloader
Then as soon as the phone boots up and connects hit enter and run the command. You might be able to sort circuit the loop in that fashion.

try holding it up to a bright light

I got my wife a Moto X yesterday, which has not been rooted or modified at all, and got the 4.4 update notification today. I downloaded the update and tried to install it. During the install, the phone tried to reboot but it got stuck at the Motorola logo. It sat there for over an hour, so I turned the phone off. As soon as the phone turns off, it turns itself back on and gets stuck at the Motorola logo. I can get the phone into recovery mode, but selecting Recovery and Factory options do nothing but go back to the Motorola logo. I have tried using the Toolkit to flash the phone, but it needs to be either in Android or the bootloader so I can't seem to do anything. Do I have any other options? I would prefer to fix it myself because I can't take the phone back to AT&T until Sunday and I don't want my wife (who is pregnant) to be without her phone for that long.
Did you try to just erase user data ? (You will lose person content on the phone)
Did you try to just erase cache ?
Did you try to boot only in safe mode ?

I can't do any of that because I cannot get into the OS.
Can you get into recovery or bootloader?

When you are trying to select options in fastboot are you using the volume up to select them? I've read a lot of places where people try to use the power button to select when they should be using vol up.

I have the same problem with my T-Mobile moto I received yesterday. Prompts for update, downloads and attempts to install, then opens in bootloader with 'Failed to hab check for boot: 0x56'. If i try to boot into recovery it gives the same error, 'Failed to hab check for recovery:0x56'. If I try to factory reset from the settings menu the phone powers off and does the same thing.
I read somewhere that the bootloader and recovery images need to be flashed again but I can't seem to find a working link to download them. I should add that once I use Minimal Fastboot to give the command 'fastboot erase cache' the phone will reboot properly and prompt me to download the update again. All is good as long as I dont try to update to Kit Kat. Please help, it will be greatly appreciated.
