[Q] How to completely remove root and CWM recovery? - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I would like to know if there is a way to completely remove root and CMW recovery, so i can flash the original ROM and send my device to warranty. Is that possible? Make everything looks original like it was when i bought the phone leaving no tracks of roots and flashs?

Well, i was able to reinstall the stock recovery extracting the recovery.img from the stock rom, converting it to md5 and flashing with Odin.
For the counter i used the app called triangle away, and it reset the counter to 0.
The root was removed with the "Remove all root" option on supersu config, the supersu app was removed from device, but the root permition persists, and the SE Linux status is Permissive.
How i can remove the root permission completely and make SE LInux status Enforcing so i can finally send my device to warranty?

Have you tried flashing a stock ROM? That should wipe everything and return you to stock.

Yes. But im getting some red errors on stock recovery after flashing the stock rom via odin.
I took a picture of the recovery screen, can you guys please help me?
I need to send device to warranty but i cant send it with that bugged recovery.
I think these errors are related to some CWM recovery trash left behind.
This is really strange.
I attached a picture of the recovery screen, please check it!

i found this code: http://code.metager.de/source/xref/android/4.2/bootable/recovery/screen_ui.cpp
i dont know maybe it explain that missing bitmap erros.
Can someone take a look at it pls?

I screwed something up.

I was rooted and running CM6. I tried getting back to a stock 2.2 by flashing the stock image from Rom Manager. I downloaded the 2.2 update from google and it wouldn't update. In the system menu or bootloader I got a little format happy with boot/system and so on. Anyway, doing a nandroid now. Is there anyway to get this phone back to the kernel it shipped with?
You have to flash it with the stock recovery.
I've been using that Universal androot.http://www.androidappjudge.com/2010/08/one-click-root-application-universal_10.html I tried flashing stock 2.2 and I didn't read the two options, I just clicked them and kept going not realizing that I flashed the rooted, superuser version. Does this mean that I'm now rooted forever? When I try flashing stock 2.2 with rom manager It stops @ the android and /!\ symbol. Now it's even doing this with CM.
I'm now wondering how to get rid of whatever crap might be floating around on my phone and why it may not be flashing anymore?
there is nothing wrong, rooting allows you the ability to have super administrative rights. Since all you have done is grant yourself admin rights, the recovery should be the same.
Something is wrong. I can't Fix Permissions or flash anything.
Man, I should have just left it alone.

Did you wipe? I used 1-click root and I hadn't flashed anything in over a year so I forgot to wipe and I boot looped until I pulled the battery, booted into recovery and wiped. Simple solution but it could be worth mentioning...
So you are saying that, you have the stock recovery now? Triangle with little android? If so, Just download a PASSIMG.zip and flash through bootloader. This will take you to stock.
I have an N1 with locked bootloader and when I wanted to go back to stock(Forgot to get a nandroid of unroot rom). I had to flash a stock recovery. then downloaded the PASSIMG.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717870&highlight=frf91+downgrade
This takes me back to ERE76. Then I download an OTA of FRF85B.
I think fix permissions fixed everything. Thanks for the tips!

[Q] Stuck at charging or boot failure after flashing from odin

My device is sc-03e and the rom I flash is rooted-stock-rom provided by docomo.
The history of ROMs I flashed is : from long ago -> rooted-stock-rom from odin -> cunsom rom based on 4.3 from recovery -> AOSB ROM 1.3.5 kk4.4.3 from recovery -> yesterday flash from odin.
After flashing, odin said everything's OK and the device reboot into recovery.
In recovery it said file or something else check failure, and asked me whether I wanna install un-trusted apps or something alike.I chosed yes of course.
After that, it would reboot and asked me whether to install SU, yes again.
Then reboot, if connect to PC or charger, stuck as charging screen with the screen unchanged.
if not connected to anything, after a few seconds device turns off.
What may be the problem?
Do I need to re-partition or re-install the bootloader?
Finally I flashed by adb sideload since I can boot into recovery, but I really want to know the why I failed to boot after flashing from odin.
P.S. tried twice, and odin check the md5 file correct.
Thanks very much.

Hi mate,
Firstly, this isn't an I9305 question, but it's still an S3 so here goes...
Second, DO NOT RE-PARTITION YOUR PHONE, unless you want a brick.
It sounds to me like the Kernel or Bootloader in that package isn't working properly.
I'm not sure if the sc-03e (Japanese) needs a different Kernel from the I9300 (International).
Just to be sure, I would use CWM or something to format: /system /boot /cache etc. before flashing.
I suggest you install a completely Stock ROM using ODIN and then CF-Auto Root to gain Root Access.
EDIT: This might help also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/official-japanese-sgs-iii-sc-03e-t2172063

Thanks for your reply, wiping really makes it go.
I found that the pre-rooted ROM doesn't wipe itself, which is different from the stock ROM which I remember will wipe automatically.

hyperdrive rom on nh3 problem

Hello, I'm terribly sorry if this is the incorrect place to put this; but I'm desperate. I flashed hyperdrive on my galaxy s4 active NH3, and it booted the rom before I could flash the master patch, and the su update zips. So now im stuck with an unrootable nh3 galaxy s4 active that runs hyperdrive rom fine, but my wifi doesn't work, and I can't get into safestrap to flash the modules, because I can't root to install safestrap. Someone please help me, I can't reinstall my stock rom with Odin right now because my computer isn't working. Please help and thank you so much
The safe strap splash screen doesn't show up at boot? A safe strap ROM should not uninstall safe strap iirc.
Just because the app isn't in your app drawer, doesn't necessarily mean safe strap is gone. Reboot and check if it's still there, it should be.
The splash screen doent come up at all. It just says "samsung galaxy s4 active" and where the ss screen should come up, it automatically boots into the rom, displaying the rom boot animation and booting into the rom

Every single solution I can think of either requires root (lol hardly a solution, huh?) or consists of, "Odin back to stock." Are you able to use Odin at all?
Even if you don't want to Odin back to stock NE3, I think the W0lfdroid method should still be able to root your phone while on hyperdrive, just like on stock NH3. I.e. flash the root kernel to your phone via Odin, boot and run towelroot, Odin flash the NH3 kernel, boot and install/run superSU.
I'm inclined to think that method will still work because for any rom to work on the i537, it automatically has to be compatible with our stock kernel.

Thank you, ill try that method. I wont be able to get my computer fixed until the weekend so im suck with no wifi or camera until then. Im still very confused as to why it did all of this. When I flashed the rom in ss, the aroma installer launched, and at the end I pressed next and it froze, so I had to take my battery out a place it back in. When I rebooted I expected to see the ss splachscreen so I could proceed to flash the masterpatch and the camera and wifi fix but it just booted right into the rom boot animation and then loads the rom. It continues to do this, so I have no safestrap now. However I do have the safestrap apk saved on my sd card along with the towlroot apk incase I ever lose root while flashing a rom and my wifi doesn't work such as the fist time I flashed hyperdrive with my NE3.
Anyways thanks a bundle

[N910C][TUTORIAL]TWRP Recovery on 5.1.1. (No root)

Hi guys Recently Samsung released 5.1.1 for our devices! So I decided to make a easy tutorial on how to install TWRP on our devices (unfortunately without root).
1. Download newest odin from Here!
2. Reboot to download mode.
3. Download this file TWRP RECOVERY
4.Flash it with AP option.
5. Done! Now You should be able to boot into TWRP Recovery.
Info
Can I restore my previous custom rom now?
Yes and no. I tried restoring two roms. AOSP and TW, aosp had a bootloop then successfully booted, and TW didn't seem to boot at all.
Does it root my device/Can I root my device now?
Nope, not yet. I tried to make a custom rom with root built in but it was stuck in a bootloop.
Why would I need this?
Well. Now You can restore Your rom, and flash other roms(Some may fail due to a newer bootloader).
Any bugs?
Sometimes first boot after flashing this recovery might bootloop, but just remove Your battery and turn on Your phone again.(Happened only once to me)

Yes... I did manage to restore the backup image of 5.1 as I ended up in bootloop while trying for the root access. So far OK with at least TWRP is working.
I have a question, If I'm on 5.1.1 and I've installed this TWRP, By using this TWRP RECOVERY, can I install 5.0.1 custom rom via zip file?
I do not mean to restore my backup rom. I mean I do a fresh installation

It seems to bootloop roms that need 5.0 bootloader. But AOSP rom that runs on 5.1.1 boots up without any problems. Just during boot You might see message "kernel is not seandroid enforcing" and then the rom should boot up.
I flashed twrp via odin and it says pass then reboot after that when i try to enter recovery it get me to stock recovery any clue why is that and how to solve this ? v.v
Thanks a ton bro.
thank u so much guys

Recovery & Kernel not seandroid reinforcing
Hi after i installed the custom recovery whenever i boot up and see the boot screen a red text shows up the top left corner of the screen that says recovery or kernel not seandroid reinforcing. Please help.

Hi I could really use some help here my phone had some trouble so I had to wipe it out and reinstall the 5.1.1 lollipop when I did so however I lost the recovery partition I was using TW RP I have since tried to reinstall it and Odin says that it is successful yet when I try to boot into the recovery partition I get to default recovery partition that comes with the phone I've also tried using the CWM recovery image and it does the same thing says its successful but I can't boot into it because it boots into the default one any idea what is going on and what I can do. I should also note that I've tried reinstalling the 5.0.1 version of lollipop and that has failed in Odin any ideas would be greatly appreciated because at the moment I have no way to root my phone I can't flash the custom kernel that's needed for 5.1.1 or anything else for that matter please help thank you

Easiest way on odin is make sure auto reboot is unchecked. When its done unplug the cable pull the battery put it back in boot into twrp Let me know how it works out for you.

Removing TWRP and reseting T510 back to stock.

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab A T510. I have installed TWPR 3.3.1-6 and also rooted it with Magisk. I would like to remove everything and return it back to stock. By stock I mean Stock Recovery and full reset of the device. Also to lock back boot loader(to remove Knox screen at start-up).

Flashing a stock ROM with Odin will remove both TWRP and Magisk. There are instuctions already for relocking the bootloader and doing that will inclucde a "factory reset".

I have no idea by you mean "link to it". If you use Odin to flash a stock ROM, that ROM includes a recovery partition that overwrites TWRP and the stock kernel overwrites the custom kernel that was patched with Magisk. There is no need to do anything else to remove them.

Where can I find stock ROM for T510 with instructions how to flash it correctly?
