Demo mode (retailer device) - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to disable demo mode
Keeps comming back every time I type *#*#73556673#*#*!!!!!!!!!!
What to do?

Don't type *#*#73556673#*#* .
What I would do is flash a generic ROM over the one you have, making sure to wipe data so all the previous demo stuff will be gone

[Q] Slightly off topic

Quite unrelated to SGM here but I'd like to stick to my regular forum. I have a friend who lives with me and he has an old samsung s7350 which is currently frozen. It needs to be unfreezed in order to use any of the services. Only currently available service is SOS. Basically he tried a few dodgy unlock codes to try unlock to all networks but ended up freezing it!
Anyway, all he needs is a 5.4.4 version of multiloader because it's the only version compatible with that phone and once we have that (exact) version, we can unfreeze the phone. Does anybody have the version to upload for me? Many thanks!

Ok!! Here you go SGT-7350 Multiloader v5.44
http://www.4shared.com/file/-WIl-2kI/SGT-S7350_MultiLoader_v544_by_.html
DO you know how to flash?
Here is what I found on a thread... Maybe it will be helpful
Follow the procedure to leave, step by step as particulars, trade options and I say necessarily full battery charge (important detail) and remove microSD memory card and sim
1) Firmware
2) Multiloader 5.44
3) Samsung S7350 USB cable
4) How to get you phone into firmware mode:
- Volume low
- Camera button.
- Powerbutton
5) Connect your phone with your pc
6) Open the MultiLoader
7) Select the option (MSM6275/MSM6280/MSM6290) in the control section of the MultiLoader
8) Put a check in Boot Change, Full Download and Master Rom (important detail):
- Boot Change
- Full Download
- Master Rom
9) Upload Files Boot, Amss, Rsrc1, Rscr2 (Be sure to select the LOW version for the Rsrc2 button Always choose the LOW version) and Factory fss.
10) Check if your phone is correctly connected.
If the Port Search is ready, click DOWNLOAD.
11) Leave your phone connected during the entire firmware installation.
12) When the MultiLoader says "All files complete", disconnect your phone, remove the battery, insert your MicroSD and SIM card

OEM Toggle is shown but can't be toggled; phone unable to go into download mode.

Hello XDA, I hope that you could help me troubleshoot my Note 8 (N950F).
So it's been 7 days and oem unlock toggle has finally appeared.. The only issue is it is greyed out and unselectable.
When I got this device I wasn't able to see developer options by pressing build number (though I got the notification that it was enabled), I was only able to access the setting by downloading an app short cut for it via the play store and on initial launch it said developer options are disabled. But then second launch it worked. Idk if this is significant but maybe the country this is meant for disabled it? Regardless of the sim card being in/out the phone, it is still greyed out. Also, I was able to factory reset the phone through the settings after downloading an OTA (I did this in hopes of developer options being enabled about a week ago.)
I tried to boot into download mode but it seems I can't boot into it (following the steps only lead to a normal reboot, and when I select that option from the stock recovery or through adb, it only boots the phone up normally. I purchased the phone off of swappa, in brand new/like new condition. Any ideas? Thank you for your help.
Edit: added screenshots.
SM-N950F / DS here running Taiwan software BRI and I have the option maybe if you flash this firmware you'll get it.

Thanks for the answer! However, I don't think I can flash firmware because I can not go into download mode, which is needed for odin to flash firmware

Exactly. That's why I'm so concerned.
Have you logout your Samsung Account and Google account?sorry for my poor English.:crying:
Do you use any of the KNOX stuff? Did you do any factory reset?
Can you "clear data" on "settings" app? this would make the "developer option" menu hidden again. Then re-show it by tapping build number numerous time again. Hoping that OEM is now editable.
Hi, could you solve this problem? My Note 8 has the same problem and I have not found any solution :llorando:.
I would appreciate it if you can help me.

Just return it, it must be stolen device.
Do you really trust seller?
Do a factory reset via computer with the Sony Companion software it will get it out of the retail demo mode
Let's see if this helps, go to settings then system select developer options if u have enabled it. Select system UI demo mode and then switch off enable demo mode. Hope this helps.
Sent from my H8266 using XDA Premium HD app
not work to me. it is disabled there but, anyway it open again and *#*#73556673#*#* not help. it say "this device is for store use only retail demo cannot be deactivated"
Hi leony74,
I got the same problem. I figure out how to enable de developer options, but I can't find system UI demo mode anywhere.
Any clue ?

Flash your phone using flashtools (find the matching firmware to your region.... after you flash your phone (if the annoying demo still there)
use this code *#*#73556673#*#* and it will be permanently deactivated, and your phone can charge to 100% when it's turned on The code should be typed in phone dialer
Let me know if it worked for you! GOOD LUCK!

SM-N960XU - Retail Demo Model

Thread Closed: even if it is completely innocent, discussion about how to bypass a locked device, stolen or not, is prohibited on Xda for obvious reasons.
Hey there, First time Posting but Long time Lurker.
I was wondering if theirs a site for a firmware for this device. A buddy of mine bought one off eBay and well my buddy forgot to unlock the OEM and Enable Debug...... (Rip)
It's Probably really early for anything since the phones just come out but was wondering if anyone here knew of a site thats run by Samsung or something that has retail roms to
fix demo models.
Any help is help, ive tried doing factory roms and everything but it just goes to Fail Modem on boot with unauthorized os.
Thanks!

did you fix your problem ?
can anyone help with it ?
Hey Guys,
First of all for the toads living inside the well who hasn't seen the outside world: A Demo model isn't always necessarily stolen. These are given by samsung for earliest testers and or app developers whom are sponsored by Samsung. Also, When the Product reaches EOL, Samsung never collects them. Those are usually distributed among the staff, and or close associates of the store keepers. You'll see them a lot on eBay, But never pay and obtain one - because that might be stolen. If you are receiving one from a legit source for no payment, Nothing to worry. These Demo's are never sold, and are always distributed or placed in stores for free. Also, They have a tracing app which shows where they are placed, on which date and by whom, along with it's power on/off state, and a separate FOTA Server for Demo content to be downloaded.
For the Solutions: You can always flash them with the regular firmware once you identify the CPU Type. Install an app like CPUZ from an OTG, and then run it. Check the CPU type (Snapdragon or Exynos).
If it's Exynos it should be N960F firmware, and If Snapdragon it should be S. I'm not so sure about Snapdragon, but the surest way to verify this is check the units which are sold to customers in the same store. Demo's are usually based on the region.
When flashing through Odin, You can load all 4 files, the modem won't be rejected if it's the same CPU. (I've done it numerous times for Exynos devices). Before flashing, Make sure to tick Nand-Erase option in Odin, and Flash it away.
If You've screwed up the device to a potato state with Download Mode, Download the firmware files from a Paid Site (Won't link them here, You can Google for them using the firmware code on the demo device).
Hope this info helps you mate, If not or if you need more information - Send me a PM with the Questions.

Thanks for answer. Fully agree with you about low IQ people who think Live Demo Unite - it's "probably stolen unite .." ...
SM-N960XU
1. if some one have this model , do not flash it before you go in to "retail mode app" - and enter login and password - to disable ( not remove ) - retail mode...
login and password easy to find on itnernet for free.
2. i didnt desable retail software before going to flash my note9.. and this is problem... now , knox loader - wont start new firmware.. all flashing going well... Odin say nothing , but ... green sreen and "security error - on restart"...
Nothing helping.
- wiping cash - not helping
- wiping to factory settings ( from recovery ) - is desabled by MDM ,
what is MDM ?
MDM (Mobile Device Management) Policy is a software package that Samsung will supply enterprise. The companies want use smartphones and tablets as a tool to support their employees but they want to limit some functions such as Camera function is disable, Browser function is disable...and now, my team will solve "MDM does not allow factoryReset"
----
well... nothing helps.
but here some interesting finds...
Demo Unite model is : SM-N960XU
It's was surprise for me, but same model name is for regular Note9 is also ..
SM-N960XU
Look at this :
.samsung .com /ca/support/model/SM-N960XZKUXAC/
visit page, and you see "SM-N960XU".
but URL states : SM-N960XZKUXAC
If i am understand right , this is full name of regular phone ?
SM-N960XZKUXAC
so i am probably need to look for some firmware for SM-N960XZ ? Corrert ?
--------
Anyway - what i will to try now, i want to install custom recovery. and from custom recovery i will wipe system and install fresh firmare.
i think custom recovery will replace - samsung recovery what is blocking phone from starts new firmware..
but only one problem...
when i try to install twpr - ODIN3 - tells me : complete write operation failed
So it's means : knox wont let me replace it self..
WHAT TO DO ?

XDA doesn’t allow this kind of posting as it’s a grey area!! Stolen or not! None of you can prove you purchased via legit mean?? As even Samsung does not sell them so how can it be legit?? And don’t say eBay/Amazon it can be stolen and resold on there! So you can kiss those theory goodbye!!
That’s why they don’t have modems, as Samsung did not release them for the general public! You can’t bypass no matter how much you flash it! Mods shut this thread down before someone grows some i.q! LOL

Help with download mode Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Dual SIM 64GB SM-N950F korean

Hello all . I have problem with note8 . bought it few days ago , owner did wipe the phone thru recovery wipe data etc after that the phone normally turned on .

First your phone is a galaxy s8 sm-G950F
Which imei number did you check the one on back of phone or when you dial *#06# in dialer to check?
I would check the imei from *#06# (not the serial number).
Download Phone Info Sam app from play store. See if the imei matches and that you have a exynos soc.
And yes you'll get a download mode and that Chinese letters is most likely your download mode options. Which might mean you got a pretty good fake galaxy s8.
As I know you can't flash sm-G9500 (snapdragon soc) onto a Sm-G950F (exynos soc). So don't know where the Chinese language popped up from or where you can change the language for download mode.
Check out the galaxy s8 forums for any info.
Not sure what's going on here.first screenshot is common for China phones, which is the base for all China cloned phones.
Second screenshot belongs to a samsung s8 phone.
But your title says note 8.
Either you are confused or the phone is confused.

Try getting into recovery mode and do a factory reset.
Or
In Odin use all 4 files AP, CP, BL, AND CSC (use the CSC file NOT the home-CSC ). (Try checking Nand erase all.)
Also you can do both if you want too.
I wonder if you need to re-partition your phone?
I would take the phone back to the service shop you took it too and tell them to get it working. I find it hard to believe they will tell you it's not a hardware fault when they can't get the phone to boot up! If they cant get it to boot they need to give you a new motherboard.
How did they check the phone without the phone booting up? Isn't that there first test to see if the phone starts up to home screen?

No luck turning the phone on recovery mode only can use download mode and i have tried the same files with the Nand erase all, the same thing .. Odin installs all the files without any errors but does not boot up after installation is finished.
The service shop said they checked components on the motherboard and there is no damage or no IC has been damaged.
What do you suggest i do next?

Then you have a bad motherboard!
If they cant get it to boot then it is a bad motherboard and they need to replace it!
