Hi there,
For some reason my phone doesn't seem to be play a boot sound.
Now I went ahead and looked in /system/media/audio/ui and a PowerOn.ogg wasn't present.
I added my own powerOn.ogg file yet that didn't seem to help. I have a rooted phone and successfully changed the boot animation.
But instead of a nice boot sound to go along with it it just vibrates twice before showing the boot animation.
Please help!
Vibrates twice - it's the recovery chooser.
Make sure, you have pasted PowerOn.ogg in the right place and it remains there after reboot. Make sure youhave checked Settings>Sound>Startup sound. Sound also do not work, when your phone is on Vibrate or Silent.

Checked all of the above nothing seems to help still no boot sound.
not sure if this will help but I noticed that if I reboot using anything (ie, reboot on Xposed) other than the power button, the boot sound does not play.

I'm using the normal boot menu, although mine is from Xperia Xposed KK by @serajr.
Hi, this is still unresolved...
anyone has any idea how to fix this?
Boot sound
On Xperia devices, Sony actually put the boot sound inside their boot animation zip and it was called bootanim.mp3

As it says on the title, I have just rooted went fine then I just installed ClockworkMod Recovery for the LG Optimus 2X went to go in to recovery powering on and holding the Vol down button and a scrren comes up saying
S/W UPGRADE
PLEASE WAIT WHILE UPGRADING....
then nothing happens tried it a couple of time with no joy, having to remove battery to restart, and also it wiped my phone back to stock all my apps etc gone wifi setting etc but the root/superuser is still there
Any idea people????
That is the baseband upgrade screen. You should HOLD power and volume down button!
If that doesn't work are you sure CWM is installed correctly?

I had this exact same problem as well. It led me to be very confused for a good half hour lol. Simple answer is we weren't booting into recovery properly.
1. Turn the phone off.
2. Hold the volume down button and do not let go.
3. Hold the power button and do not let go.
4. Wait and wait and wait.
5. Should see a small piece of text saying "Android" come up after about 10 seconds-ish.
6. As soon as you see this text let go of the power and volume down buttons.
7. You should now be in recovery.
Hope this helped
Edit: Also I don't think the .bat file used to install CWM recovery gives any confirmation after it's done.

Yeah well i ran the CWM again a couple of times then tried again and it worked great thanks every 1
I just think im impatient as going into CWM on the desire a little bit quicker
Once again THANKS
Had the same problem at first too.
Desire is not as "slow" as the 2X when booting to recovery.
Got myself a factory reset the first time I tried...
Yup exactly, the O2X seems to take much longer than other phones to boot into recovery. I used to have a HTC Hero and it literally took a press of two buttons and then wait a few seconds. Strange...
Hi so I have cm7 7.0.2 on my nexus one. Today it froze on the unlock screen, as it has a few times before since I put cm7 on my phone, so I did a battery pull, and then it wouldn't turn on. I plugged it into my charger, and now it turns on, but just goes to the colored X screen, and then reboots in a loop, over and over again.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot!
Use something like RUU to go back to stock then root your phone and if you have a backup on your recovery select that once you are done setting it back to stock.

Did you do OEM UNLOCK? if you didyou can simply boot into the bootloader and then choose recovery and from there you can re flash your rom

I wouldn't bet on it, if it's simply in a boot loop then it's perfectly fixable. Go into the bootloader by holding the volume button while turning on the phone. Navigate to the recovery option using the volume buttons and confirm using the power button. From here you can wipe/restore nandroid/flash CM7 again. Also, you don't need to unlock the bootloader to do any of this.

thanks, but that's what i do, when i can't boot. it's stuck on x when i try boot to recovery, and flash boot, recovery, system, not changed the situation.
ok, i am not an expert, but just brainstorming here based on what i understood while flashing mine..
download a recovery image to your PC
get into bootloader mode on the nexus, connect it to ur pc, select the fastboot usb option on ur fone
open windows console
type:
fastboot flash recovery <image file path> and press enter.
fastboot can be located inside android-sdk. so make sure you have your present working directory set to the path of "fastboot.exe"(e.g. c:\android\android-sdk\tools)

You will either have to run PASSIMG.zip (The forums have good guides on this) or unlock your bootloader and flash the individual .img files through bootloader/fastboot.

Did you try he fastboot erase commands first? I'm not at my computer to write a quick guide but if you still need it in a few hours ill write it up. If it still gets stuck in a bootloop after that then your device is probably bricked

thanks for your help.
nexus one not rebooting after the battery drained
I am currently in the same situation. In my case the battery drained completely. I removed the battery and disconnected the charger. In the past this worked. Now what I get is the colorful X.
What I can do:
Fastboot via power and the "pearl"
Go into the boot menu via volume down and power
No matter what I chose after that I get to the same X. While this seemed promising none of the following worked:
reflashing recovery
Reflashing back to stock of radio/recovery/system/boot/
replacing battery
Any other thoughts?
Before wipe all your data on your phone in the recovery and reinstall passimg.zip

When I turn my X8 THE BOOTANIMATION never ends and if I put my fingers like I can feel the lockscreen and I can MOVE AS IF IT WERE NOT THE BOOTANIMATION BUT still there and never goes out
HEEEEELP
PS: MY BOOTANIMATION IS THE ANDROID 2011 BOOTANIMATION
It happens sometimes...
I dunno why but if you want to stop it i recommend you to either disable the bootanimation in cyanogenmod settings or start pressing power button repetedly, the lockscreen will appear.

the problem is i can't show the phone on my computer because it needs to be turned on... And also, my power button is broken...Do you think there is another way to access my phone's system on my computer? :crying:
Pull the battery, connect the USB-cable, re-insert the battery and hold the x button while doing so.
This should take you to recovery and from there you can enable USB mass storage mode.

Thanks... But its stuck on the bootloop... I think im getting it fixed tomorrow though...
Thanks Anyways...
P.S: Although if you can think a way around the bootloop...
Try to enter recovery - either by holding X on the keyboard while powering on or pressing down on your D-Pad.
Recovery works, even if the Android system is bootlooping because it lives on a seperate partition.
You already did this before flashing the ROM.

I have done that but then, what do I do?
Just follow the instructions again - it's not that hard.
Press Volume Down and Camera to access menu, apply update.zip, then Open Recovery starts, and so on...
Blank Screen
Pulled battery and connected USB... WORKED!
Idk why, but a million thanks!
:good:

So, I recently updated magisk on my phone and as usual to update my phone restarts, but this time it didn't boot up.
I think its in bootloop because when i connect it to my pc with a usb cable it goes on and off also, i cannot access to TWRP.
Can you get to bootloader (fastboot)?
If so you can restore a stock boot image and start over, or try to boot to TWRP with fastboot boot twrp.img and restore the boot image from there and then flash the installer (rename the .apk to .zip as per the new v22+ installation instructions).
I am unable to go into the bootloader or maybe im just doing it the wrong way do you mind guiding me? :/
or maybe i don't have the drivers..
my phone just connects and disconnects, so im not so sure i can go into the bootloader and launch a comand.
Can you shutdown your phone?
i don't think, because it's always turning on and off because the usb sound is going off and on in my pc so i dont really know
You need to use a button combo to get to bootloader or recovery (since you can't boot to Android). A quick web search gives this:

Exactly like what happen to my device as well
Nope, it does not let me go into the bootloader. Not even with the button combo.
Do you have twrp installed on your phone by any chance? Also a stock boot.img?
First you need to calm down I know how frustrating seeing your device on bootloop and can't even shutdown it ...
i do not have twrp, but i can download a stock boot.img
would you like me to guide you how to fix it i don't have anything to do?
Yes, thank you.
Your device is going on bootloop right now and keep vibrating right?
it's not vibrating. but it probably is in bootloop
lol mine is vibrating while on bootloop okay enough chitchat let's start
vibration is actually good indication for the next process
prepare ADB and USB cable
Now press Power Button and VOL UP at the same time wait for vibration let go Power Button keep holding VOL up for at least 3secs then let go
it's still not vibrating
now press VOL DOWN there's 3 out of 1 chance that you actually made it to fastboot mode ...
